Wrong SMTP

Hi, I run 10.4.11 on a G4. When I try sending an email out to a group I created in Address Book, it says that it can't send to a particular email address even though I know for a fact it is an active and legitimate email address. Moreover, at the bottom of it it lists the SMTP as smtp.mac.com and I do not have an account there. So I went into my settings and deleted smtp.mac.com so that the only one remaining was smtp.myISP.com and it still doesn't work. It is still showing smtp.mac.com even though I've deleted this in Preferences, Accounts for email etc. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Hi itworker,
Thank you for your question.
Did this issue occur all users?
Did this issue take an effect which someone didn’t receive emails?
What is CU of current Exchange 2010?
There are two values in address, which is display and email address, for example ‘displayname<[email protected]>’
We could not make sure which values which is wrong, if displayname Is wrong, we could check it in recipient mailbox and if it is consistent with address format, for example johndoe@ <company.com>. So we suggest you send a header information and displayname
on EMC to [email protected] for our troubleshooting.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
Best Regard,
Jim

  • Wrong SMTP server got selected when sending email

For a Gmail account I set the outgoing mail server the smtp.gmail.com and checked the "only use this server" box.
Yet if I look at the full headers for an email I just sent it used a non-Gmail SMTP server from another account to send the email! This is confusing, and could potentially be embarrassing.
Anybody know what might be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I wouldn't give in too early. Easy for me to say. Persistence often pays off. Mvks is a wondrous beast. It seems o learn about your preferences as you try. If smtp continues to fail, rather than dump Mail, you could buy your own smtp server at outbound.mailhop.org. Google will find it. That works with any mail client anywhere.
    Too early?
I've been in Mail h*ll ever since upgrading to Mavericks! I've been through 3 versions of the Mavericks Mail app so far. I've been nothing but persistent - and neglecting real work just to do beta testing for Apple.
Mailplane right now is working fantastically well. And with all the keyboard shortcuts for labeling, filing and navigation I'm going zip zip zip through this morning's mailbox at a rate I never was able to before in Mail.
I'm plain tired of fussing with it. I just want my mail to be reliable!
    Thanks,

  • Wrong SMTP Header Information

We have noticed that some emails have information in the data section of the SMTP header that looks like "johndoe@ <company.com>" instead of "[email protected]" if they are sent to any mailbox on our Exchange 2010 server.
This wasn't the case before we upgraded to Exchange 2010. Has anyone seen this type of situation before?

  • Replies often go to wrong SMTP when message in local folders

This happens for me when replying to a message, M, in the
    following cases:
    A: M is in a local folder.
B: The To and CC fields do not match the receiving account.
Previously the reply went to the right place, presumably
because the SMTP server was looked up through the
    X-Account-Key field.
I have verified that the X-Account-Key lookup should work.
    In my case, X-Account-Key matched "id3", "id3" matched "smtp3"
and "smtp3" match the expected SMTP server.
However, a different SMTP server was chosen for the reply.
It wasn't even the default server!
I have verified that when the To or CC field matches the
correct account (i.e., in my example, the account for "id3",
the correct SMTP server is chosen.
For mailing lists the To and CC fields seldom match the
    receiver's accounts.
    Thanks for your help,
    David A.

Further to what I said originally. It looks like it's using item #3 in "mail.smtpservers"
    mail.smtpservers; smtp3,smtp2,smtp1,smtp4,smtp5
It should be using smtp3. This happens to be default smtpserver.

  • Mac Mail Uses wrong "from:" Address .... ouch!

I have multiple e-mail accounts set up on Mac mail.  Each email account has it's own SMTP server defined.  The "use only this SMTP server" is checked on all the accounts.
Today I sent an email from one account ... let's call it [email protected]
The outbound server was set properly.
The mail was sent, and appears on the outbox for [email protected]  Just like normal.
I got a reply back from the person I sent the e-mail to, and the reply shows that my e-mail originated from a DIFFERENT account.  Let's call it [email protected]
The e-mail I sent originally does NOT show up in the Sent e-mail box for [email protected]  It shows up in the Sent e-mail box for [email protected] where it should.
So ... it looks like  Apple Mail sent an e-mail from the wrong account, using the wrong SMTP server.  The mail program obviously doesn't konw what SMTP account to send mail from.
    Wow.
    I'm shocked.
    This is beyond lame.

Follow up to my own question.  I do see others have had this problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2253932?tstart=0
It makes no sense whatsoever for Apple Mail to "fall back" to an SMTP server that is not assigned to a particular account.  It's far better for the SMTP connection to fail and NOT send the e-mail from the wrong account, instead of confusing all the people I send e-mails to.
This SMTP fallback "feature" ***** and should be gotten rid of.

  • SMTP Password Error????

I send 100's of emails a day with Mail and never have any problems. Today after every few emails I'd get a box popping up saying Mail had the wrong SMTP password. I would type in my password and would then send fine. I went to Preference and the password was set-up properly. This is getting annoying.
Anybody know what might be going on??????

I fixed my bizarre problem of rejected pw's by shortening them to abot 8-10 characters

  • SMTP uses localhost?

I cant get my mail to send in a JSP running on JRun on Windows Web Server.
    It keeps giving me message:
javax.mail.sendFailedException...Could not connect to SMTP host: 123.45.67.999...connection refused
What or how do I find the SMTP address?
    <%@ page import="javax.mail.*, javax.mail.internet.*,java.util.*;">
    try
    InternetAddress toAddress = new (InternetAddress("[email protected]");
    InternetAddress fromAddress = new InternetAddress("[email protected]");

    Session mailsession = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, null);
    catch(Exception e)
           out.println(e);
}Do I just use the word "localhost" and that will find the correct SMTP?
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", "localhost");
I can ping to the SMTP address (123.45.67.999).

    Sorry for the post.
I had the wrong smtp and it now works.

  • SMTP Banner mismatch - still not understanding how this works?

    I have a new Exchange 2010 install.
My outgoing email is getting flagged as spam.  MX Record test shows SMTP banner mismatch.
I understand that you don't change the FQDN on the receive connector using the GUI.
I have created an additional Receive connector so I have the following:
    Receive Connectors:
    Client Comm
    Default Comm
My question is how to I change the smtp banner and which connector do I set it on.  The syntax needed for the Set-ReceiveConnector is kicking my butt.
It sure is frustrating that the new Windows World is so centered around Powershell command lines. Very frustrating and backwards technology.
The documentation on the Set and Get-Receiveconnectors is very poorly written. IMHO.

My reverse DNS is setup correctly.
This is an issue with the receive connector banner page.  Some email hosting services, AOL, Hotmail etc.  are flagging my outbound email as junk.  So they must be doing a test to see that my receive connectors have the wrong SMTP banner.
My send connector is ALSO setup correctly.
I need help with the syntax in using the Set-receiveconnector cmd.
    Follow:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125159(v=exchg.141).aspx
Create a Internet type custom receive connector. My assumption is that you receive internet messages directly to the hubs. When you create an Internet Receive Connector it will allow anonymous senders to connect to it so it will work for internet messages.
In the Specify the FQDN this connector will provide in response to HELO or EHLO field, type the name advertised in response to the SMTP HELO or EHLO verb. If you leave this field blank, the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the Hub
Transport server or Edge Transport server is automatically added when the connector is created

  • Problems with my new E5, help needed

I just got me a new E5 about a week ago.  Despite reading a lot on this forum, I still have two major issues setting up this device; so I need some help.  Problem number one is that I cannot set up my email.  I have "aol" email that falls under "other" in the email set up section. Some of the screens listed in Pool of Knowledge subsection (like choosing POP3 or IMAP) does not even come up in my e5 during email setup screens. What to do to set up aol email account.
Problem number 2 is that I cannot transfer my contacts and other data from old device (Nokia X2-01) to the new e5. I paired them easily using Bluetooth but when it get to the point of transferring the data, I hear a "click" sound in the e5 and "Bluetooth disconnected.... " error message comes on. I have tried upteenth times but I get the same result. When I tried to transfer contacts one by one, using Bluetooth business card option it works; but I have over 800 contacts and I would like to use the switch route.  What to do to solve this problem?.  I hope I do not have a faulty device.
With God, all things are possible

I can't help you with the contacts problem, but have you made any progress with email? Just because you pick the Other category, doesn't mean you need to enter every server detail. I use Earthlink email, but simply typing my email address causes the wizard to fill in every other detail besides my password. (Curiously, it always uses the wrong SMTP server.) But once setup finishes, I can change any of the settings. I hope that helps. (And BTW, the above may not apply if you opt for using Nokia's push service.)

    T1.DocEntry = T2.BaseEntry
    And T2.DocEntry = $\[$38.45.0\]
4.Now you can get this UDF in the print layout(template).
    3. How to know variable in Print Layout?
Variable can be retrieved checking System Information in view, however it is not supported
Please refer to the attached [SAP Note 723783|http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/smb_searchnotes/display2.htm?note_langu=E&note_numm=703028] - the use of system variables isn't supported as their definitions might change after upgrade.
Variable fields are not supported due to the following reasons:
    1.  Variable numbers might change after upgrading to a higher version.
    2.  The user can use variable numbers which are not linked to the  document or form related to the document editing.
The list of variables is only supported for 2007 A version.
We do not have such kind of variables list for 2005 B version.

    4. How to clear the SBOMailer queue?
As a workaround, please use dummy or wrong SMTP server and send all those mails to that address.
After sending those mail to dummy SMTP, you can see the mail status changed to "E" (Error), then after setting up the correct smtp mailer
would not try to send the mails with status "E".
    5. How to use dialer in BP?
    1.How does this work?
If you have Microsoft#s automatic phone dialer installed, you can press CTRL+TAB to automatically dial the numbers in the telephone fields.
    2. Are there settings I can change? In the System Initialization - General Settings - Services, to place calls directly through SAP Business One if a phone system or modem is installed on your computer or in your network, in these fields specify the area code and the number to dial for an outside line.
    3. How can I troubleshoot when this doesn't work? Try to check if the number is correct, the best way to check it is to use the MS Phone Dialer and to enter this number exactly as it is written in B1. If the dialer succeed dialing this number so B1 should succeed too, if the dialer failed check what is the problem with the number or with the Microsoft Phone Dialer.

  • Mails sent on my iPhone isn't shown in the sent folder

Whenever I send an email it does not show up in the sent folder on my iPhone or on my Mac when I sync. Why could this be?
It works just fine, I recieve mails and I'm able to reply and all that. I just can't see them in the sent folder which is annoying.
    Hope you can help me

I think figured it out. The original problem was that Mail.app was not using Gmail's smtp server. In the account preferences in Mail I have checked the box which says: 'Only use this server' under the pop-up list which has Gmail's smtp server selected. But examining the full headers of emails sent via supposedly different smtp servers (via different email addresses with all have that 'Only use this server' checked) and emails sent via Gmail's web interface gave me the strong indication that Mail.app is not using Google's smtp server.
Lo and behold, once I switched between my corporate network and a cellular-modem based one which caused Mail to fail to reach the smtp server (inside my corporate network only my corporate smtp server works and outside every smtp server except the corporate one works) and therefore brought up a dialogue which allowed me to choose the smtp server and I selected Gmail's smtp server, my sent messages showed up in Gmail's sent folder.
Even better, after restoring my iPhone (syncing wasn't doing the trick), emails sent from my Gmail account on the iPhone show up in Gmail's sent folder (and Gmail's sent folder also shows up on the iPhone).
As usual, if you for your life's sake cannot figure something out, most likely something you consider a fact is actually not the true. I was assuming that Mail was using Gmail's smtp server, that is what I told Mail to do. But apparently, once Mail fails to reach an smtp server and you tell Mail to use another it continues to use this alternative server forever until it fails to reach this one and ask you again (and that is the only way to reset it). And more importantly this alternative smtp server gets carried over to the iPhone. Even more sneakily, if you check the smtp server setting on the iPhone it still reads the 'correct' one but it is using in fact another one (visible from the full headers of the received email).
Getting Mail to use the correct smtp servers is its own pain in the butt. And after the umpteenth restore with everything working now, I now unchecked the option to sync mail accounts (since I keep switching networks on my Mac, I'm sure to end up with the wrong smtp servers associated with my email accounts).

  • Mailboxes shown in mail!

    Hi
I am new to mac, have mac pro and leopard, thats fien, now I am transferring my outlook stuff to leopard, that one goes well too, but setiing up email accounts in mail i do not understand why my new .MAC account is shown wneh the account, with my new .mac email name, is also shown, seems the are indentical in contenst.
can i delet / clos on of them ?
I have a pop account to, that works fine.
second question, sometimes the send action just result in a eternal rotating icon, an d then send does not take place, get an errormessage about smtp serve offline or not responding. however veh I tets the all i fine.
    PAlle

you may have two duplicate .mac accounts. go to mail>preferences>accounts and on the left hand side column do you have two .mac accounts showing? if so you can delete one.
if you have problems with sending, either the smtp server is offline, or your internet connection has some issues, as in slow for example, which results in the process to check the smtp server times out or gives you an error. if you do send eventually it is not an issue with a wrong setting, as in wrong port or wrong smtp setting, just an issue with the internet connection.
    hope this helps
