Wrong track order on import

Hi Everybody-
Usually I can fix this problem but this one CD stumped me and I can't get the tracks in order on iTunes 11 ( which *****, IMHO)
If I change setting to import time/date then the tracks line up fine but that changes the order of the artists and I like them alphabetized.
So...  What am I doing wrong ? I've already spent an hour on this and re-imported the cd.
Thanks

When I have issues importing CD's on iTunes, I use Music Brainz.
Its scans the files, organize the id3 tag, covers etc.
Hope that helps

  • Wrong track order in ipod

My ipod has the wrong track order for at least three different albums of three different artists. Its only one song on each of the albums. All the album info is correct and in itunes the songs are all in the right order. I've restored the ipod twice to no avail. Any ideas

the only thing I can suggest is make sure your playlists are in the right order when syncing, so maybe have your albums in the right order when syncing? I know my purchased playlist is in whatever order I sorted it last...usually by play count. SO my most played song is at the top of that playlist. Maybe it works like that for albums too, so make sure the songs on the album are sorted by track #

  • Why does itunes load cds in the wrong track order

why does this happen and can it be sorted cheers

iTunes imports CDs in track order, first to last.  iTunes displays these tracks in your music library based on how you select your library to be viewed.  For example, in list view you can select the "date added" column and see the tracks in the order they were imported (with the most recent on top).  You can select the name colum and see all the tracks in alphabetical order.  You can select the album column and see the tracks in album order.  The album column cycles from album, to album by artist, or album by artist/year as you click on the column title.

  • Changing track order after importing

I am trying to import opera CDs into my iTunes library. Operas usually take up 2 or 3 CDs, and when I try to upload the multiple CDs to my library, iTunes mixes up the order of the tracks so that I can't listen to the opera in order. How do I change the order of the tracks in the iTunes library so that I can listen to the opera in order?

Try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album by year column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Track Number>Album>Artist. Make sure the little triangle on the right side of the track number column header is pointing up. In that direction the column is sorted in Ascending order (lowest to highest).

  • Wrong track order

    Hey,
sometimes when I'm importing a burned CD the track order is mixed up, and when I put it on my iTunes I can't figure out how to put the songs in the right order. When they're in My Library it's not possible to move them around, is there some way to do this?
    thanks in advance!

    theviolet_hour,
    Welcome to Discussions,
Your info says you're using Mac OS 9. If that's correct, you're probably using iTunes 2.
I haven't used that version for a long time and don't know if everything what I'm writing next also applies to the version you're using.
Anyway, you can't move tracks in your library. The only way to move the tracks in the correct order is to put them in a playlist, sort on the leftmost column (with the numbers) and drag them in the correct position.
A better solution is to be sure the tracks already are in the correct order when importing the CD. Before clicking the 'Import CD' button, sort on the leftmost column and be sure the small triangle in the column header points upwards.
If you want to correct the track order of already imported CDs, you will have to set the track numbers of each track manually.
Select a track and Get Info (command-I), click the Info tab (if it applies to your version) and set the track number.
    Hope this helps.

  • Itunes U wrong track order

My itunes U collections have the tracks in the wrong order.
all information on the "info panel" is the same
         titles are ordered my number
I've tried all the fixes that pop up online: edit the album number, the track number, album artist etc etc
Any tips on how to order the different files by name in itunes U ?
    Thanks!

You have one of the OTHER columns besides the first one selected and are sorting by that column. For example, if you sort a CD by song title, it will remember that sorting for all CDs you put in.
So click on the top off the track number column to resort by track order again.

  • Track order issues

I'm having this trouble with itunes and track orders:
Lately all cds that I've added to my collection got the wrong track order, the last song showing right after the first. I'm pretty sure all tracks share the same metadata for artist, album artist, album, etc.
So for this CD with 8 tracks the order itunes shows is 1-8-2-3-4-5-6-7. Same for two cds with 10 tracks (1-10-2-3..). I tried changing the artist/album info for the misplaced track but it always goes back to the wrong order when I fix it.
And oddly this only happens when I sort by album by artist. The order is correct when I sort by album only.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

on the iPod: there's an album that appears 3 times on iPod with exactly the same songs while in itunes it's fine! what the **** is this? Can anyone help me?
Likely you just need to do a restore on the iPod, let it format and resync and it should be fine.

since i have a 8Gb iPod nano 3G and a 20Gb AND I would like to use the automatic Sync with the iPod i created a new library in iTunes where i'll have only 8Gb of stuff. Seems like a good idea to just plug the iPod and it syncs automatically with the stuff I've already chosen,
No that is a fairly inefficient way to do it. iTunes can tell your iPods apart, so all you have to do is sync them to the same library and for the Nano, set it up to sync a playlist of what you want.
Instead of creating a whole new library, just create a playlist in iTunes with that same set of music in it. Not only will you only have one library, but you can now easily add things or delete thing from that playlist out of your main library.
Then plug in the Nano and set it up to sync only that playlist. Simple!

Just another thing... can any of you advise me on a good auto-MP3 tagger application (for free!)?? I had a really good one for WinXP - Magic MP3 Tagger - but it's not available for Mac and i think it would resolve the track ordering issues!
iTunes is free and is a pretty good MP3 tagger.

  • Track order wrong even with "artist-album" sort

I've been having this problem ever since upgrading to iTunes 7 and I was a hard core non-updater until I bought a new computer and had to.
When I sort by Album, the tracks aren't in order. When I sort by "Album-Artist" most are in track order except compilation CDs which had been ripped with Windows Media Player (before my iPod days). When I moved my music to my new computer I forgot to uncheck that little box next to let iTunes do my sorting and it sorted my compilation CDs by artist. Is this why I can't get them in order? More importantly, am I going to have to re-rip all these compilation CDs to get them in order? Is there a good trick to get these compilations tagged correctly? They're all double disks from Germany so I'm worried I'll have to do it by hand.

    Album art issue?
(Just a SWAG, but AA has caused these kinds of issues before). Try this -- in iTunes (not in a standalone editor, which may be editing the wrong format tags) select all the songs in the album and make sure they all have the same album name and artist name. Then copy and paste into the album art box the album art (I use albumart.org, but Amazon.com is also a good source for copying). This will store your art into the song rather than album (assuming you may have gotten your art from iTunes).
Reset your phone, restore your phone, and then resync. That ought to do it.

  • Importing the wrong track information...

    hi,
i have 2 cds that im trying to import. my issue is when i 1st imported them, i choose the wrong version of the single or album.
i have deleted the tracks that were imported, as they were diffrent to the actual track listings for the cd's i have.
i now want to import the correct track listing. but when i try to import again, it imports the previous selction i had made. how can i change this to the correct track listing??
    Thanks

You will have to do it manually. That information gets downloaded manually and as far as I know, you cannot reset the data to re-ask the CDDB once you select an album.

  • Track order is wrong and locked

I recently downloaded the "Some Cities" album by Doves from iTMS. Three of the tracks were tagged as being part of Doves' Celebrity Playlist, despite not being so. I changed the album name and the cover art of the three tracks in question, but they still remain firmly wedded to the top of the play listing, out of the albums original order.
I've checked the track order fields on the Track Information box and that checks out as accurate, so there's no reason why the tracks shouldn't play in the correct order. Any help?
    Thanks.

I also have had this problem on two different tracks I've purchased on Itunes. I tried contacting Apple about it, but they didn't offer any solution. They suck.

  • Album track order in iTunes

Hello, I have a problem with a few downloaded albums.
I had downloaded album tracks off the net into album folders in My Music. The tracks were numbered. After importing the albums (folders) into my iTunes library, & updating my iPod with those, I see that in both the iPod & iTunes the tracks are in the wrong order. They are however, in correct order in their folders (in MY Music).
Any ideas how I can remedy this?

Try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist which is how I prefer mine ordered, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Artist>Album>Track Number within Album (you can hide the track number column when you've done if you don't want it cluttering up the view)

  • Default Track Order

Hi Please help me as this is driving me nutz!
I am not new to MP3 ID3V2 tagging and I have was using Sony walkman on my phone as a MP3 player. I decided to get a nano, for a player it is far superior!
Any my problem here is I am importing a folder which has an album (DJ mixtape which I created myself) and I know the tags are correct as in Album name and track number I verifed within iTunes. Being a mixtape the track order is imperative however iTunes keeps putting my tunes in a strange order. Even After I correct and sync with nano the order is still wrong. I have checked the tag on iTunes and the track numbering is correct. Can anyone offer advise on how to fix this problem?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks
    Steve

The tracks are in correct order in iTunes when I order them that way.
I manually sync my music with itunes; the biggest reasons are that there are things in itunes that I don't want on my ipod, and that I occasionally store data on it.
When I have a bunch of new music to go on the ipod (for example, the first day of my eMusic month), the easiest way to get it all there is to sort all my itunes music by date added, and take everything that's new and drag it over to the ipod.
When I do this, the tracks show up on the iPod in decidedly non-album order.
So I've got two separate-but-related problems:
    - how do I get all the music that's already on my ipod to display in album order?
    - how do I get new music to display that way as I add it.
I reset the ipod every once in a while - that doesn't help. Not sure what the rest of the 5 R's are - your link doesn't work for me. I certainly don't want to wipe it and start over - don't want to spend the couple hours transferring, don't want to lose the play counts, don't want to have to figure out what I do and don't want back on it, etc.

  • IPod changes Track Order upon transfer

Okay, so, when I import a new album into iTunes and then transfer it to my iPod, the iPod will not keep the track order, no matter what I do in iTunes beforehand. I make sure that the album is organized by track before transfer, but after I disconnect my iPod, track 5 becomes track 1, and all kinds of craziness. When i connect the iPod to my computer again, I notice that the track numbers are correct (1 of 10 is still 1 of 10) but that they are in the wrong order (1 of 10 follows 5 of 10, which is follwed by 2 of 10). Why does the iPod do this, and how can i fix or stop it?
    Thanks,
    -dan

highlight all of the tracks in the cd *hold shift, click first track* then *hold shift, click last track*
then hold *control, I* set the disc number to "1 of 1" it might work. That's all I can think of at the moment.

  • Creative mediasource player - track order prob

I imported a lot of?albums I downloaded from Napster on to the creative mediasource player on my pc. when i try to play albums via this player on my pc the tracks are all out of order (eg track3, track , track2 etc) and I cannot work out how to get them in the right order. i have just looked at a few albums and just realised that it is sorting the tracks in alphabetical order of the track names, not track number. anybody got any ideas how to get it in track order?thanks

Just click on the column header to sort by Track Number. Creative MediaSource will play in the order that you see.
