Wrong Transmitter connection

Hi My Vision box connects to a transmitter what is further away (Oxford) than my local one (Sandy Heath) for BBC one so the signal breaks up is therer a way on the box to select which transmitter it connects to, my aerial has always been facing Sandy Heath and all the other tvs in the house connect straight away to sandy heath so bit confused why the vision box has decided to play up.

Others have reported similar problems with the New Look software. Unfortunately, unlike lots of other Freeview boxes/TV's, it allows absolutely no control by the user over which UHF frequencies it uses.
The digital channels are transmitted in groups called multiplexes. Each multiplex is on a different UHF channel number.
Find out which UHF channel numbers you are picking up multiplex transmissions on by running this coverage checker and selecting the detailed view. http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/
Running the Help & Settings > Settings > TV Settings > Freeview Signal Strength option on the box and selecting additional Info should confirm this.
The poor man's solution is to remove/insert the aerial at appropriate times as the box goes through the scan from UHF 21-68 in order to make it only find the signals from a certain transmitter. A lot of hassle and no good for regular auto-scans though.
It seems it is possible to buy a UHF Bandpass Filter for under a tenner that will limit the reception to a range of UHF channels (to match the aerial group for a location). That might in theory be able to be used to dictate which transmitter you pick up a signal from? I've no experience of using one of those though. Be aware though that the new COM7 and COM8 HD multiplexes are on low UHF channels everywhere that may be 'out of group' for your location. The BT Vision+ box can't use these but other Freeview-HD DVB-T2 boxes/TV's can.

  • Cannot establish TLS with SMTP...wrong address, connection error 5

    An error occurred sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: Cannot establish TLS with SMTP server 65.55.176.126:587, SSL_connect error 5:connection closed.

    Is this for an Outlook/Hotmail type account? What do you have for the server settings under Tools/Account Settings/Outgoing Server (SMTP)? (For outlook/hotmail it should be STARTTLS security on port 587, normal password authentication, email address for the User name.)
    If you have an anti-virus/security program scanning outgoing mail, disable that option and see if it helps.

  • Adworker using wrong JDBC connect string during upgrade to 12.1.3

    Our env
    APPS - 12.1.2 - running on SLES 11
    DB 11.2.0.3 - running on IMB System z
    We cloned PROD to a new host (instance was previously on DB host - debsdb01 and app host debsap03)
    The clone was made to debsdb04 - and app was reconfigured on debsap03
    I got the app to start up and run before taking it down to apply the 12.1.3 patch.
    However, in the process of the 12.1.3 patch, I see the following entry in the ADworker log files.
    JDBC connect string from AD_APPS_JDBC_URL is
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=YES)(FAILOVER=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=hostname1.companyname.com)(PORT=1549)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DEV3)))

    If I do an echo $AD_APPS_JDBC_URL on debspap03, it returns
    JDBC connect string from AD_APPS_JDBC_URL is
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=YES)(FAILOVER=YES)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=hostname4.companyname.com)(PORT=1535)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DEV3)))
    Where are the ADWORKERS getting the old value of the DB host name?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I believe figured out what the issue was.
    I was (am) running the patch session from a VNC session that was established during the previous version of this instance - so the previous connect string was being used.
    Once I killed the old VNC session and established a new one, I was able to retrieve the correct value for $AD_APPS_JDBC_URL from the command prompt.
    Yes - the value of the $AD_APPS_JDBC_URL was showing the old value in the old VNC session.
    Thanks for all of your input esp on a Saturday - when I thought I would have to wait until Monday to get this figured out.

    We were setting up our apple tv and everything was working well.  Then we did a system update and moved the apple tv and suddenly on screen the USB cable icon appeared on the screen and we can't go any further.  All connections are fine.  What next?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
    Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.
    Do not disconnect your Apple TV's power cable during the restore process.

  • Problem executing main method with wrong connection to DB data

    Hi,
    I'm executing my 2 projects in the same application with wrong DB-connection data.
    When i execute one of the projects, i get one only Window having this text:
    +(oracle.jbo.DMLException) JBO-26061: Error al abrir la conexión JDBC.+
    That's exactly what i wanted, but when i execute the other project i get this window, but also 20 windos or so having the following text:
    +(oracle.jbo.JboException) JBO-29000: Se ha obtenido una excepción inesperada: java.lang.NullPointerException, mensaje=null+
    In both projects the exception ocurrs in the same line: panelBinding.refreshControl(). They have exactly the same code in main class, so i don't understand why in one project i get the only window i want (the one saying JDBC conection is wrong) and in the other one i get round 20 more.
    Why is this happening?
    Thanks in advance. Pablo.

    Maybe important: in the database navigator, when a introduce a right user, but a wrong password, in project 2 the database user account gets locked. This doesn't happen in project 1.
    Any idea??

  • Multiple PPPoE connections on one Mac

    Hi,
    I have two PPPoE type connections on my MBP; one is meant only for downloading whilst the other is my main browsing, mail, etc account.
    The problem I have is this, before getting the second ISP account that I use for major downloading, I had just one PPPoE connection that I used for everything. Now that they are separate, I have the main one (the one I use for my mail and browsing, etc) set to connect when needed, hence it connects automatically when my MBP starts up due to the fact that my mail starts up on login.
    I can manually disconnect it and connect the other account (downloading account) then use that connection for whatever it is that I download or stream, but the problem comes in when the other PPPoE account connects (because I never close my mail, only hide it).
    So I am a little concerned that the wrong PPPoE connection might be used to download/stream my media. And, yes it is important that the accounts are used for different processes. With two PPPoE connections active (never knew that was even possible), I have been left with the option of removing the "connect when needed" option from my default connections meaning I now (It sounds lazy, I know...) I must click connect for each account when they are needed and that being as soon as I switch my MBP on.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you much!
    Kal

    Never mind, I figured it out. Set the service order appropriately.

  • Can we connect from Portal to MaxDB with the trial version of SAPNetWeaver?

    I’ve installed SAP NetWeaver Developer Workplace SR2 (trial version) with the following components:
    •     SAP Web Application Server Java 7.00 (J2EE Engine)
    •     MaxDB 7.6.00.34 database + Database Manager and SQL Studio
    •     SAP Enterprise Portal
    •     SAP Content Management and Collaboration
    •     Adobe Document Services
    •     BI SDK
    •     Visual Composer
    •     Composite Application Framework (CAF)
    Now, I created new TEST database in MaxDB (user: DBADMIN, pass: abcd).
    I want to connect from the Portal to the TEST Database, so I follow the steps described in the documents (How To Configured BI JDBC Connector, ….)
    - I log on Visual Administrator, create BI JDBC Connector, create new DataSource.
    Now, I can get the Data from TEST Database.
    - I log on Portal and create new BI JDBC System,
    + Driver: com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB,
    + Connection URL: jdbc:sapdb://sapep/test
    - Then, I create system alias, map user with the user in Test Database (User: DBADMIN. Pass: ABCD)
    But when testing the connection, I’ve an error:
    <b>Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct.</b>
    When I test the connection by the link:
    http://sapep:50000/TestJDBC_Web/TestJDBCPage.jsp
    I’ve an error:
    <b>com.sap.ip.bi.sdk.exception.BIConnectionFailedException: Cannot open the connection
    Exception id: [0008C72B8B0C00C60000006F0000114000042C18596CD779]</b>
    Could you please show me how to resolved this problem ?
    I don’t know if it is caused by the trial version ?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Tweety,
    I assume that you have create the driver with the required .jar files.
    supose its name is MAX_DB
    After that go to "Connector Container" in visual admin. To create a new connector,
    select the connector SDK_JDBC and click the clone button to create a new BI JDBC connector and enter a name for the connector eg., SDK_MAXDB
    Selct the recently created connector and choose the resource Adapter tab. click the add button to assiciate addtional resources the Connector
    To add resource, enter the name as "library:MAX_DB".save the changes and restart the server.
    Now in the portal there is a property "ConnectionFactory" set this to "SDK_MAXDB".
    Now u have said that u have set the values for Driver and Url as
    + Driver: com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.DriverSapDB,
    + Connection URL: jdbc:sapdb://sapep/test
    the value for driver is correct but the value for connection URL is wrong.
    Connection URL:  jdbc:sapdb://<Machine_name>:<Port>/<Databse_name>
    Now i dont what is the port no for MaxDB. as for SQL its 1433, for oracle it is 1521, for netezza it is 5480. U can get it from ur system adm or from net.
    As u have not mentioned the port thats u r facing the problem.
    Regards
    Paresh

  • Connecting Creative Zen Touch to Stereo (Bose Lifestyle Syst

    Hi Folks,?A bit of a naf question, I want to connect my Creative Zen Touch to a Bose Life Style System, To provide the best quality Audio connection can you advise what is the best cable for me to use. On a seperate note has anyone any comments on the Cambridge SoundWorks Dock Station, I would like something to connect the Zen Touch to for the kitchen, the cambridge sounddock id a bit of an ugly beast. Is there anything a little easier on the eye but with the same excellent audio quality. Thanks in advance for any help?Earlsie

    If you have RCA inputs on your stereo, just buy a 3.5mm to 2 RCA cable and connect it that way. If not, buy an FM transmitter, connect it to the headphone jack on your Zen Touch, set it to a channel and then tune into that channel on the stereo's radio.
    Hope that hel
    ps.
    Here's a pic & link too:

    You can buy it at any RadioShack (in America) and in Canada I would assume FutureShop would have it as well as any local electronics store.

  • IPod Touch connected to home wi-fi but not working?

    I have an 16GB iPod Touch.
    When I first bought my iPod, I had nothing wrong with connecting and using the wifi @ home with it.
    But after I restored it yesterday, something went wrong.
    My iPod is connected to the wi-fi at home, but when I use it, it doesn't work. For example:
    Safari - When I use it, it fades into a partially black screen and it says 'connecting...' for a very long time. I got fed up so I don't know what happens in the end.
    TweetDeck app - It says I have slow/no connection. But when I use the laptop, it works perfectly fine.
    Is it some network setting in the iPod? I connected the iPod with wifi in another place (not at home), and it works fine. But when I come back home and connect it to mine, it still doesn't work.
    I also tried using my cousin's iPhone to connect to my wifi @ home. And his works fine. But mine doesn't! I noticed that both our IP addresses are different, but we are using the same wifi network. Is that normal?
    I'm not very familiar with all the network terms. I hope someone can help me
    Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply. I have tried your suggestion. Emmm I have an AirLive router, there are so many wires o.O I don't know which one to plug out. I think it is the yellow one which says WAN? But I wasn't so sure. So I tried plugging out each wire and followed your instructions. Sorry, but it didn't work I'm going mad xD! I even tried re-doing your instructions on WAN wire, and it didn't work.
    Hmm according to step 4 (Log back into your network using Settings > WiFi > Other. Re-enter your network name (SSID), security, and network password.)
    My network name is already available in the list. So I didn't need to do that. Or is it neccesary?
    Thanks a bunch! Reply soon

  • Issue with Connection Pooling in ias 8i

    We keep running out of connections on a regular basis. We have checked out the JSP code and we are closing the connections at the end of every JSP, which I think should return the connections back to the Pool. The max process from the database side has already been set to the maximum value. How can we check if the connections are being returned back to the pool or not. Is this a problem that has patch of a fix in 9i ?
    Thanks
    Venkat

    Java exception mechanism makes it very hard to write exception-safe code so that the connections are returned to the pool if something goes wrong.
    try {
    Connection conn = ...
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(..);
    rs..
    rs..
    stmt.close();
    conn.close();
    } catch(SQLException ex) {}
    for example the above code is not exception safe. If there is an error while you are working with the resultset, the connection remains open. Instead :
    Connection conn = null;
    Statement stmt = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    try {
    conn = ...
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    rs = stmt.execute...
    }catch(SQLException ex){}
    finally{
    try{
    if(rs!=null) rs.close();
    }catch(SQLException){}
    try{
    if(stmt!=null) stmt.close();
    }catch(SQLException){}
    try{
    if(conn!=null) conn.close();
    catch(SQLException){}
    You see how stupid the code gets to make it exception safe. I think we can put the blame on the close() methods throwing an SQLException. What can you do if close() fails really. To my mind it is very stupid.
