It should have picked up your mobile number anyway once you activated your service, then turn iMessage on. If it says "waiting for activation" there are some other things you could try, including:
Go to Settings>General>Date & Time, make sure Set Automatically is set to On.
Be sure you are able to send and receive sms messages (activation sends a "silent" sms message to the activation server)
Change the DNS servers on your wireless router to Google's Public DNS servers (see https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using). After successfully activating, you might want to change it back as I've read this may degrade your internet service somewhat outside of the U.S.
Call your carrier to make sure they aren't blocking premium texts or third party texts (thereby blocking the required sms to the activation server) -

I get the Radio option when using Hotmail contacts as the default Contact creator. If I change it to iCloud or Gmail I no longer get the Radio option in the labels.
If you are using a service such as Hotmail/Outlook.com for your contacts the radio option may be present.
You can change which service is the default service to create new contacts with by going to Settings->Mail Contacts & Calendars->Contacts->Default Account
The Radio label is just an identifier for those types of Phones so you know its a number for a radio phone. -
When i type in their name their number comes up however it isnt saved to my contact book and when i select them it just puts their mobile number up the top where the name usually is. please help super frustrating. When i type their name it is has it saved into 'other' . thanks

Help my iMessage isn't working because my email is only showing as my thing to where people can contact me instead of my number. I'm new to the whole iphone team and I really need help. When registering an iPhone with iMessage and FaceTime, the phone number is registered automatically along with your Apple ID email address.
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.

I changed my apple id and everything works fine except message and facetime. I cannot reactivate imessage and facetime is using my email instead of my mobile number. How do I reactivated message and use my mobile number on both applications?

If you're refering to your uphone number thats set up to be used with imessage on your ipad, then that is associated with your apple id and has to be changed there first.

Then on your ipad, sign out of messages. Go to settings/messages/tap on send and receive/tap on apple id/sign out
Then sign out of messages on phone and then back in.

hi can anyone help I tried to set up my keychain on iPhone and was sent a code to a mobile number that isn't mine. I have checked the number on my iMac keychain set up and that is my correct mobile number
If you went to System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac, then clicked Account Details and it shows the correct number under Verification, then that is the number the verification code should be sent to. If it is sending to the wrong number, you might try changing it on your Mac to some other number, then changing it back to the correct number and trying again to see if it works properly this time. If the problem persists, you'll probably have to contact Apple for assistance: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.

Hi, I received a Summer SIM yesterday (the 100GB/month SIM) and put it into my iPhone 4S. I registered with the EE website and received the verification text, all good so far... When I go to top-up my account online with £10 it comes up with a red error message at the top of the screen: "Sorry, something's gone wrong""We can't find a mobile number for this account. Please associate one with it" screenshot:http://i.imgur.com/nt4Q5sA.png Yet despite this if I look in "my account" it lists my account number and mobile number ( https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/my-account/ ) I tried topping up anyway (despite the red warning) but it just gave me an error at the end ("TOP UP MY DEVICE - ERROR") I also tried going via http://ee.co.uk/ee-and-me/top-up-pay-as-you-go but again I got an error I don't have any credit on my new SIM so I can't call and pay 25p to speak to someone - are there any mods/customer service people on the board that can sort out my account? This is not a great start to using the EE network :/

I checked and the red warning no longer appears on the top up page. I'm still waiting to see if the "SUMMER100" promo has been properly applied and if the " STOP PACK" / "YES" works, but at least I am now over the first hurdle.

Wrong mobile number not in my profile
My Husband has advised me that his mobile number is showing up against my contact in his Skype. It is showing up as 'call mobile 2'. I have gone over my profile and cannot find it. I removed my correct mobile number from my Skype profile but that only meant my correct number disappeared from my contact - my contact on my friends still has my husbands mobile number. How do I fix this?

No problem, glad I could help. I wouldn't recommend Doctoring your phone unless there is another problem that warrants that troubleshooting step. I just think that if you ever have to sign out of your profile through a partial erase or webOS Doctor, that likely your phone number would update at that point.
You're not having a problem right now, so "If it's not broke..."

I was asked to put a small validation on mobile number being entered by user in his personal details (to check country code).
As we are using both PA30 and ESS, I have implemented both the BADI's
HRPAD00INFTY (for PA30) and HRPAD00INFTYDB (under enhancement spot HRPAD00INFTYBL) for ESS.
My first one is working fine and stops user from entering wrong mobile number.

simple fix
go to settings- messages - send and receive- select the numbers and emails you want to use - deselect the ones you don't need

reset all settings
settings-general-reset-reset all settings
now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

IMessage on MacBook Pro - how to use mobile number?
So I upgraded to 10.8.2 on ML and IOS 6 on other devices. I notice on the iPhone that my iMessages can be received by default only to the mobile number.
I previously turned iMessage off because frankly it was a complete PITA and more trouble than it was worth. The mess created for recipients with messages coming from apple IDs when sent from the iPad and from a mobile number on the phone, then messages sent from one not showing on the other, replies not going from one device becase there was no internet available but the message had come to the apple ID and not the phone number etc etc. The woes went on. iMessage thus went off.
Now, the ability to use the phone number as the default across decvices did sound appealing and I THOUGHT that when I activated imessage on the Mac and iPad it would automatically show up with the option to use the mobile number on those devices. Instead I just get the email option and can see phone number at all.
Am I correct in assuming that I need to add the Apple ID so messages can be sent there BUT configure it somehow so that iMessages going out from those devices are sent as coming from my mobile and not an email address? last thing I want is the dog's breakfast that the last incarnation of iMessage brought and I would hope this time around that "It just works". I'm gettng more and more used to having to probe around with Apple though, to find ways to make it work.Finally got this to work, coincidence or not i'm not sure, maybe the system was just catching up. On the iPhone I ONLY had the telephone number enabled. I then added the Apple ID and all the test messages arrived, as did the mobile number verify message. I then went and turned the Apple ID email off as a 'receive at' source. After that the mobile number was verified on the Macbook and was available to add as an iPad 'email address'.
