WRP400 LAN Speed only 47/38

Hello all
I have a small issue with my wrp400 - I can only get 47 MBit/s out of its LAN. My connection is 65 MBit/s up and down and when I am plugged directly to the modem it gives exact 65/65 or a little bit more, but when it is plugged through the router it gives everytime 47/38! Here is what i have done so far:
I have disabled QoS (all its subcategories), put my IP to the DMZ, disabled SPI firewall protection and nothing .. still 47/38 :s
My firmware is 2.00.5.
Connection map:
Fiber optic modem > WRP400 WAN >
- LAN 1 My PC with DHCP reserved IP
- LAN 2 other
- LAN 3 other
Both LAN 2 and 3 are unplugged when testing the speed. All cables are CAT6
OS Win7 ultimate.
Shouldn't router's LAN ports operate at 100/100? And if yes, is there any possibility to increase LAN speed? I would really appreciate a help.
Thanks in advance.

This is the Linksys community forum. If you wanna blame the community, well, ...
And maybe checking first the support options for the WRP400 would have helped to find the right place to ask. The WRP400 is now part of Cisco Small Business and not really covered here. See this.
So you should better ask in at the right place here. There are some people from Cisco over there.

  • RT31P2-AL lan speed only at 10mbps

Hi there, I've just bought a new Linksys Voip Router RT31P2-AL and it's working verry well... the only problem that I can't solve myself is that the local Lan port only goes to 10Mbps instead of 100Mbps as stated in the documentations (Three 10/100 RJ-45 Switched Ports) and I try to figure what's going on???
My cables Cat6 are tested ok and my lan card supports 100Mbps without any problems on my other router.
If I force my lan card to work at 100Mbps instead of autonegociate with this router, the port goes down and windows tells me that my cable is unplugged???
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Did you ever manage to figure this one out? I'm running into the same problem with the router connected to my servers hosting the rest of my network, so it's kinda pointless to be running a 100Mbps network when there's a 10Mbps bottleneck on the internet side.

  • HomeHub 3 LAN speeds only 10Mb?

    Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A)
Has anyone noticed issues with LAN connection speeds on the HH3? I've noticed sometimes my laptop, homeplugs + other devices only show as connected at 10Mbps on the HH3 device list and throughput tests show they really are only connecting at 10Mbps.
The 1Gbps port never suffers this problem just the 10/100 ports. A hard reboot sorts it and they connect at 100Mbps, is this a known issue (its not my clients)
    TIA

    Hello,
I've had a look and all my devices have negotiated with my HH3 to 100Mb Full duplex (Network, Printer, Comtrend 9020 and Linux PC).
I would Factory Reset your Homehub 3, just in case there was a Firmware upgrade with a tweak for Auto-Negotiation which has got itself in trouble:
    http://btybb.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11386/~/how-do-i-reset-my-bt-home-hub-to-its-facto...
I can find no evidence in the kernel logs that my HH3 running 4.7.5.1.83.8.57.1.3 (Type A) is having any problems with 10/100 Autonegotiation.
If you don't manage to get your devices negotiating correctly with the HH3, then test them connected to another switch/router. If they negotiate to 100M Full duplex plugged into something else and not the HH3, then contact BT for a replacement.

  • WRP400 wan-lan speed

    Hi All!
I have a problem with my WRP400 WAN-to-LAN speed no more than 48Mbit/s incoming and up to 42-45 MBit/s outgoing.
    My connection is 100/100 Mbit/s, Firmware 2.00.26 , OS Win 7 Ultimate.
QoS disabled, VoIP not in use.
Is there any possibility to increase speed?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have the same problem.
    I have WRP400 (firmware 2.00.32 - I try all firmware).
Now my connection is 100/10 Mbit/s.
Directly connecting the modem to the computer I get the maximum speed 100 Mbit/s download and 10 Mbit/s upload.
By connecting the router I get up to speed 47Mbit/s download and 10 Mbit/s upload.
    www.speedtest.net/my-result/3969122353
In the router settings (SETUP / ADVANCED SETTINS) when the change parameter "WAN Phy Flow Control" to 100 half, the results are the same. When I change to 100 full I get speed for 10.
I thing the option 100FULL is not working. Only 100 HALF.

  • NMH300 Slow LAN Speed

I am using the NMH300 and find the file transfer speed very slow using Windows Explorer.
    I have the following setup:
Fast Win7 x64 desktop computer with Gigabit NIC
    Dlink 10/100 switch (unmanaged)
NMH300 connected directly to the Dlink 10/100 switch
Setup NMH300 with static IP and created mapped network drive in my Win7 desktop. Allowed windows file sharing in the NMH300.
Why is the file transfer speed only 6.5 or 7.0Mb/sec over the LAN when both the computer and NMH300 are directly connected with each other over a 10/100 switch?
Surely I should see speeds in excess of 60Mb/sec or more?

    Yes, something is wrong.
I'm running the NMH300 on a wired gigabit network and get speeds similar, and in some cases, a little higher than the chart shown in the NMH review in Wilkins link (small net builder).
I usually get around 130 Mb/s (~16MB/s) read, and about 100 Mb/s (~13 MB/s) write.  You should be seeing something similar, but your posted speeds are way too low.  Could be a bad NMH or something else within the chain.  You might want to start by trying to isolate the bottlenecks.

  • Very slow LAN speed

I have a "MI424WR" router. Various pages say it has speeds up to 12 mebabyte/second transfer rate, but I am only getting no more then 3mb/s ever.
I have 1 desktop that is wired and 1 laptop that uses wireless
    Help is apprecitated

Since you refer to slow LAN speeds, I assume you're referring to a transfer between the wired desktop PC and the wireless laptop.
Any transfer between the two is going to be constrained by the slowest component, which is your wireless connection.
You said you're getting "Mob/s".  I'm not clear if you're referring to megabits or megabytes.
If that number is megabytes, that's about average for a wireless-G connections.
    MOB/sec (note the caps) * 8 bits/byte = 24Mbps
If you meant 3Mbps, then you're probably dealing with a wireless interference issue and should look at the usual wireless troubleshooting issues, such as changing the channel, eliminating sources of interference, etc.

  • E4200V2 slow wired LAN speeds

Set up my new E4200V2 last night, everything appeared to be working but while streaming videos over wired LAN I get short hiccups over wired. While streaming videos, a few second long pause is really, distracting, this is a deal breaker and my previous router (DIR-655) had no issue streaming any videos. The wiring has not changed, only the router.
So onward to trying to lock down the problem.
I set up a ping between two wired linux boxes, and get:
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=65 ttl=64 time=0.184 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=66 ttl=64 time=0.180 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=67 ttl=64 time=0.566 ms
    64 bytes from 192.168.0.5: icmp_seq=67 ttl=64 time=10.52 ms
Whoa, 10 ms over gigabit LAN. This is crazy, but doesn't tell us much. The 10 ms was one out of hundreds of pings, so its only intermittant. This might explain the hiccups, but this router doesn't appear to log anything, so its hard to say.
Next was scp transfers, which never exceed 15MB/s, in either direction. For gigabit, wired LAN this is awful, with my previous DIR-655 I would get at the very least 40 MB/s, in all situations.
Next up, iperf. I set up iperf on the two hosts, and iperf reports reasonable gigabit speeds
    3] local 192.168.0.5 port 48303 connected with 192.168.0.3 port 5001
    [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
    [ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.10 GBytes 941 Mbits/sec
    and on the iperf server:
    4] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.10 GBytes 940 Mbits/sec
I have tried the following solutions:
Firmware: its the newest firmware, as of last night (Feb 14) 2.0.36 build 126507 2011-12-23 01:39
MTU - I adjusted this to 1400, 1492, 1450, set to auto, no difference
QoS - I enabled this as someone reported QoS being off would throttle certain transfers, no difference
I added both the MAC addresses of the two linux boxes as High Priority in QoS, no difference
I'm running out of things to try. Tonight I am thinking of reverting to an old firmware, doing a hard reset and seeing if it persists, and if no ideas come up in this forum, it is getting returned, 15MB/s over gigabit lan is terribly broken.
    Any ideas?
    Xian

    Try these troubleshooting steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then click on security and disable the SPI firewall.
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
    Hope it will help you.
Second, you can reduce the speed of the LAN card as well.
    Here is the step:
START--> right-click My Network Places and click Properties
right-click on the device and click properties
    Click on the CONFIGURE button
Select the ADVANCED tab and the settings you can alter are listed on the left.
Try to make the LAN speed to manual speed.

  • Time Capsule with an Airport Extreme bridge resulted in slow LAN speeds

Wondering if other people are seeing this. I am unsure if this was a result of upgrading both my TC and AEx to 7.6, but my LAN speeds had suffered in this configuration.
    1.  Comcast cable modem connected to the WAN port on my TC.
    2.  Connected an ethernet cat6 cable from the TC to my Airport Extreme, which was configured as a bridge.
    3.  My desktop was connected to the Airport Extreme.
    4.  When doing file transfers within the LAN or general internet usuage, my network speeds were extremely low.
    5.  Disconnected the cat6 cable from the TC and plugged that directly to my desktop.
    6.  Network speed jumps up by a factor of 5. LAN file transfers and internet usuage has returned to what I had expected.
Is there a known issue where a bridged AEx conncted to another Airport "main" device will result in all machines connected via the AEx to have slow LAN speeds?
I didn't see this issue months ago. I did less than 2 months ago upgrade our machines to the 7.6 firmware, but after experiencing some hiccups on the network, reverted back to 7.5.2.  However, the slow LAN speeds haven't gone away when the two airport machines are connected to each other.
Any insight or advise is appreciated.

By now, millions of users have updated to 7.6 and I cannot recall seeing a post similar to yours on this forum.
As far as a "known issue", you would need to contact Apple regarding that.
Suggest that you have the AirPort checked out at an Apple store if you have one near you.

  • Why does error 200279 occur at high speeds only?

I am using a VI very much like the one attached here, and as my motor speeds up and the period value decreases, the vi fails, and error 200279 shows up as displayed in the attached 2 jpg images. This VI is reading the period value of an encoder by rising edges.  The error does not show up at low speeds, only high speeds.  Hardware is wired through USB ports on PC.  Using Labview 2012 and Windows 7.
Do I need to specify the samples per channel for the READ in the case structure to eliminate this error?  The error only occurs when the period gets quite short, e.g. 9ms or so.  At higher period values (slower motor speeds) the error does not appear.  I am using the counters built into the cDAQ9174 chassis  and the NI 9401 module to read the period values of my encoder.  What is happening at high speeds to cause this error?  I thought that the setting on the DAQ Timing VI required that 16 periods are read every iteration, so, why is it saying that it is trying to read samples that are no longer available?
Also, is the "Append Array" building up a large array that is being carried in the SHIFT REGISTER and causing things to slow down?  There are a huge number of periods occuring with an encoder at 120 ticks/revolution.  should I try to keep this array truncated or something to reduce the size of the data being handled for each iteration?  Can this large array be causing the 200279 error?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I think there's a combination of things that could be contributing.  I don't have time for a full explanation right now, here's some quick mods I did to the code you posted.  Essential changes are:
    - made separate loop for collecting data into a big array.  (Maybe you can consider dumping to file instead of growing an array in memory?)
    - used a queue to transfer data between loops
    - increased the buffer size dramatically while still calculating average of only the most recent periods
    - reduced the acquisition loop rate -- expect to retrieve more data points per iteration
There are a couple other things I'd probably add or change with more time, but this minimal set of mods should help some.

Is there anyone experiencing the same situation?  I live in Claremont, CA 91711.

If you have not solved it yet..
It would help to know, at least the following info...
#1 The brand and model of your modem.
#2 The brand and model of your router.
#3 What is the OS and version that is on your computer.

  • MI424WR – Rev I LAN Speeds

I'm trying to figure out if the LAN speed on Actiontec MI424WR – Rev I is it 10/100 or 10/100/1000 ? If it is 10/100/1000 how to I go about getting verizon to send me a router that works correctly, Asking because I just got off the with them and they could not even tell me the speed of the LAN ports, all they wanted to talk about was my internet speed I did try to
explain that my question had nothing to do with that to no avail.
    Thanks for the assistance

You can download the Rev I user manual here:
    http://www.verizon.com/cs/groups/public/documents/adacct/vz_bhr3_rev_i_user_manual.pdf
If you look on page 9 you'll see "Integrated wired networking with 4-port 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet switch and MoCA."
    And on page 15:
The LAN Ethernet ports connect devices to the FiOS Router via Ethernet cables
to create a local area network (LAN). The LAN Ethernet ports are 10/100/1000
Mbps auto-sensing ports, and either a straight-through or crossover Ethernet
cable can be used when connecting devices to the ports.
In addition, as I mentioned earlier, you should be able to see the labels 10/100/1000 around the LAN ports on the router, showing the LED indication at which speed a device is connected.
    Both On=1G!
It's sad if Verizon tech support doesn't know this, and I can't understand that, but it is what it is.

  • WRT600N LAN speed issue

Hello, does anybody have any experience/advice about this issue? I just installed a new WRT600N and am seeing no real uptick in in file transfer speed. I'm using the latest firmware, and no tweeks to the set-up at all. Just out-of-box defaults.
To test, I have a very basic config - 2 wired machines, both with 1GB LAN adapters. The best file transfer speed I'm getting is 8MB/sec... that seems quite slow compared to what I should be seeing. I'm guessing I should be getting in the 25 MB/sec range.
With these exact same 2 computers, transferring the exact same test file (a 9GB ms-dvr TV show), using an old D-Link I'm getting over 10 MB/sec transfer speed, which is what you would expect - the D-Link is only a 10/100 device, and the WRT600N is supposed to be an UPGRADE!
     Can anybody help?

The only other suggestions that I have is to try resetting the router to factory defaults then setting up the router again from scratch.  Sometimes this will correct problems that are otherwise unexplained.
If that does not work, then maybe the router is defective.   I would suggest that you phone Linksys support, and if they cannot make it work (maybe they have a new beta-firmware available), then ask for an RMA number so that you can return the router for a free replacement.
Here is the procedure that I recommend for resetting the router to factory defaults:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.
