WRT 610n: Accessing Media/FTP server from my primary computer.

I have my WRT610n router connected via Ethernet cable to my primary home computer. The other computers in my home network connect via wireless 5ghz. I can connect, stream, copy, etc,,, all the files on the external hard drive (maxtor one touch II FAT 32) connected via USB to my router with all my network computers EXCEPT the primary computer the router is cabled to. Is there a reason I can not do this, is this a known issue or any suggestions.
Thanks all.

I am not sure if you have Mapped the Network Drive, however follow this :
1. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer from the Windows Start Menu.
2. From the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive…. A new Map Network Drive window opens.
   3. In the Map Network Drive window, choose an available drive letter from the dropdown list located next to the "Drive:" option. Any drives already mapped will have a shared folder name displayed inside the dropdown list, next to the drive letter.
   4. Type the name of the folder to map. This name must follow UNC. Alternatively, click the Browse… button to find the correct folder by browsing available network shares.
   5. Click the "Reconnect at login" checkbox if this network drive should be mapped permanently. Otherwise, this drive will un-map when the user logs out of this computer.
   6. If the remote computer that contains the shared folder requires a different username and password to log in, click the "different user name" hyperlink to enter this information.Click Finish.
   7. If the drive letter was previously mapped to a different location, a message box will appear asking to replace the current connection with the new one. Click Yes to disconnect and un-map the old mapped drive.
   8. If the Finish operation succeeds, the network drive will be mapped. If the network drive cannot be mapped, ensure the folder name is spelled correctly, that this folder was correctly set up for sharing on the remote computer, that (if necessary) the correct username and password have been entered, and that the computer network connections are functioning properly.

  • I can't access my FTP server from INSIDE my network

    I've got a WRT54GS, with 3 hardwire clients, and two wireless clients.
    I use Verizon DSL for internet access, using a ProLine DSL Modem, supplied by Verizon.
    One of my PCs, with Fedora 9, has an ftp server on it.  when I try to ftp to the Fedora PC, from the Fedora PC, that works.  works great.  no problems signing in or anything like that.
    But when I attempt to ftp to the Fedora PC from any of my other PCs, hardwired and else wise, I get the following message:
    C:\>ftp 192.168.2.104

    Has anyone seen this, help!

    Try forwarding the ports for the FTP site on the router ....

  • Cannot access internal web server from same lan

    i cant resolve one problem in may 1921 ISR router, i have a web server in my internal lan , i set up static nat for accessing that web server from outside and it works fine but i cannot view that site from internal workstations can you suggest me what to do. i need packets to go out the outgoing interface of router and then come back and enter the static nat wich will direct to the web server is it possible?
    static nat is
    ip nat inside source static tcp  <local web server adress> 80 <global address> 80
    also i have set up dinamic nat for outgoing trafic
    ip nat inside source list <access-list> interface <outgoing interface>
    and it is working fine too.
    on external interface i have nat outside
    on internal interface i have nat inside

    This is not working because your router has a direct to your web server that is not through the outside interface which is needed for nat to occur, for this to work you need to setup a loopback interface as nat outside and policy route traffic to there for your server traffic
    Bu if your server is internal why do you need nat at all? Can you not use bind with views that might be simpler

    What are you trying to remote desktop to? A Windows PC?
    Are you able to ping the computer you are trying to connect to using RDP?
    You can use the in-built network tools on OS X to Ping the target computer.
    If you cannot ping the target then this could indicate either:
    There is an incorrectly configured firewall on the target machine that isn't configured to allow incoming RDP
    You don't have network access to the target machine.
    If the target machine is Windows based Check the Remote options are as below:
    Try to configure the connection properties using the target machines IP address rather than Hostname.
    If you get just a blank screen i have seen this in the past where that is the mac struggling to resolve the target computer details but this is over a VPN to my work place, reconnecting the VPN resolves this every time though.

  • HT2954 How can I access my imac mail from a different computer other than Apple?

    How can i access my imac email from a differnt computer other than
    apple?

    If you are using IMAP mail connection (IMAP keeps the  mail on the server), then you just configure the other computer's mail client to access the same account.
    If you are using a POP mail connection, then the mail is generally downloaded to your Mac and deleted from the server.  That is a much more difficult problem to solve.  NOTE:  Google's gmail does have a POP option that does NOT delete the mail on the server, so it is accessible via the gmail web page.
    A lot depends on what you are using for your mail service and whether you are using IMAP or POP protocols.

    Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
    Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
    Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
    LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

    If the Computor you are on has iTunes library go to tunes as if u were going to buy a song or film and you can log into your account. At the bottom of the iTunes home page you should see the user that is logged on usually a email address. Click on it to log them out and enter your own apple I'd and password. • Can I set up an FTP server from a networked Time Capsule?

    I've been looking around and can't seem to find this specific question addressed anywhere, so I'm hoping someone knows the answer to this.
    I have a Time Capsule connected directly to my router. Other than its intended purpose, I would like to connect an external USB hard drive to it, and use that as an accessible FTP server for a select few.
    To my understanding, port forwarding the router and giving WAN access would allow any user to see the entirety of the Time Capsule - which I do not want. I only want to share this one drive and have it maintained by an FTP login/password. I would then share this drive on the internal network.
    Is this possible? Or will I have to run the FTP server off one of my workstations?
    Cheers.

    Not in usable and reliable way no.. many things are possible.. if you have the (various bad words for foolishness or courage)... but it is too hard as there is no hacked firmware out there for a TC. It is a device intended for TM backups of laptops by wireless. Anything else is restricted strictly to what Apple want you to use it for. You can buy a cheap NAS, single disk unit will almost inevitably have FTP in them.. over network FTP is ok but remember it is not secure so you want SFTP for internet access.. And be warned.. FTP itself will be blocked from WAN on the TC.
    There are severe FTP issues with the AE/TC.. the last couple of versions of the Gen1-5 firmware as well as the Gen 6.. See this thread.

    The last post in this thread by.. SBeattie2
    I think will condemn you to replacement of the TC by a router that actually conforms to standards if you are trying to forward it to a workstation or NAS even.
    SFTP might work.. see this thread.

  • Can access a remote server from all locations except from my house

    This is a very weird problem.
    My home ISP is Xplornet. This is a rural "fixed wireless" set-up (antenna on the roof connected to the Xplornet modem). The Xplornet modem is connected to a Belkin router. The router connects wirelessly to my laptop.
    The remote server (the office server) is connected to an Apple airport. The ISP is Bell, and we have a static IP.
    Before we moved, I was with Rogers (cable Internet service). While with Rogers, I could connect remotely to my office server using the AFP protocol.
    Now, here's the weird problem: Now that I am with Xplornet, I can connect to my server remotely from any location EXCEPT my house. I can go to a Starbucks and connect to my server. I can go on vacation in the U.S. and use the local WiFi to connect to my server. But I CANNOT connect from my house to the remote server.
    I have spoken to Xplornet and they say it's an Apple problem (which is what every non-Apple tech always seems to say). Or, perhaps, they say, it's the local dealer (Sentel Communications).
    Sentel says I need to pay for a static IP for my home (Huh?). Why would I need to pay for a static IP at home just so I can connect OUT to a remote server?
    Is this somehow related to the Belkin router not letting me "out"?
    Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for responding, Bob.
    Below is the result of my Ping attempt, and port scans. I scanned 548, and 5003, which I use for FileMaker (which works fine from home), I don't use screen sharing. (I can confirm that both 548 and 5003 are open on Airport on the host machine.)
    So, from my home (remote) location, here's what I get (IP: 74.xx.xxx.xx):
    --- 74.xx.xxx.xx ping statistics ---
    10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 57.126/91.371/185.774/45.549 ms
    Scan of port 5003
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 74.xx.xxx.xx
               Open TCP Port:           5003                    fmpro-internal
    Port Scan has completed ...
    Scan of port 548
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 74.xx.xxx.xx
    Port Scan has completed ...
    So, 5003 is OK, 548 is not. I have to conclude this is related to my home ISP in some way?
    Unfortunately, the host server is running 10.3 (don't ask), which is not supported by Logmein. (I do use Logmein for a Windows machine on the same network, and I can connect to one area of the server via the PC, but not to the part I need, which might be the subject of a future thread.)
    Regardless, being able to connect to my work server remotely from every location EXCEPT from my home is infuriating.
    I just saw this thread about an ISP that has blocked port 548, although I always assumed the ports had to be open on the host side, but maybe not? (I have to confess, I do find the port stuff confusing.)
    If my home ISP blocks 548, then I guess that would prevent me from remotely accessing the server from home?
    If that is the case, is port 548 the only AFP option?

    I followed instructions onhttp://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/secmanage/ldap.html#1100263
    but hit a road block. The broswer is not able to connect when using UserDN. When

    Is there a bug in the 8.1 Embedded LDAP server?
    Are you using the cn=Admin dn or a user dn? If you are using a user dn, you
    will need to

  • [SOLVED] Can't access my home server from the outside

    Hi all,
    I have installed Arch on a Raspberry Pi and am trying to set up a home server. Right now, I am running a simple HTTP server (using node.js, if that matters) on port 8080. From my LAN, I can access the server all right.
    From the outside, it seems that the traffic does actually reach the computer (I conclude this from the blinking diode indicating network traffic). However, all requests time out. Interestingly, if I kill the server while a request is pending, the timeout occurs right away.
    I have no idea what is causing this. I have checked for iptables rules, but there seem to be none. What is blocking the traffic and how can I find out?
    EDIT: Nevermind, I was testing incorrectly -- the traffic did reach the Raspberry Pi, but the return traffic did not reach my test computer because it was blocked by the router's firewall. Testing from TOR works just fine.

    I too am having problems accessing Directory server from Netscape Console installed on Winxp.
    If I try to open Directory server it doesn't give any error. No windows nothing.
    If I try th same from the machine on which it is installed everything is fine. What is strange is that it did open a couple of times. But at the same time I can open the admin server, Netscape Messaging server from the xp box. Searching all over for a solution. Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
    Config details:
    iDS4.13, iMS 5.0, running on Sol 8 box
    Netscape Console 4.2 on WinXP.

  • Impersonate user when accessing Microsoft SQL Server from powershell using Windows Authentication

    Hi All,
    Below is the powershell script to connect a SQL DB using windows authentication by impersonating a user. The user should have login access to the server. Script can be highly useful when service id is used to access DB using powershell.
    [reflection.assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo") | Out-Null
    $ds=$null
    $conn = New-Object -typeName Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server -argumentList "Servername"
    $db = New-Object Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Database
    $conn.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUser = $true
    $conn.ConnectionContext.LoginSecure=$true
    $conn.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserName = "username"
    $conn.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserPassword ="password
    $conn.Loginmode
    $db = $conn.Databases.Item("dbname")
    $ds = $db.ExecuteWithResults("select top 10 Name from Tablename")
    Foreach ($t in $ds.Tables)
       Foreach ($r in $t.Rows)
          Foreach ($c in $t.Columns)
              Write-Host $c.ColumnName "=" $r.Item($c)

    That is OK when you want to manage the instance biut it wojn't work if the tools are not installed.
    This works from anywhere all of the time and is simpler:
    $datasource='MyServerInstance'
    $database='NorthWind'
    $connStr='Data Source={0}; Database={1}; Trusted_Connection=True;' -f '$datasource,$database
    $conn=New-Object System.Data.SQlClient.SQlConnection($connStr)
    $conn.Open()
    $cmd=$conn.CreateCommand()
    $cmd.CommandText='select * from products'
    $rdr=$cmd.ExecuteReader()
    0..($rdr.FieldCount-1) | %{$rdr.GetName($_)}
    $conn.Close()
    If you want credentials just add them.
    $connStr='Data Source={0}; Database={1}; Trusted_Connection=True;UID={2};PWD={3};' -f  $datasource,$database,uid,$pwd
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I want to impersonate user when I access Microsoft SQL Server from powershell

    Hi,
    Actually I have to perform some SQL operation on my MSSQL server database. but problems is that I have given all credentials (windows fix login/password which can access database) in connection string. but when I execute the script then it is always using
    my windows login and password and then giving error that not able to connect with it.
    My personal windows credentials does not have access to my enterprise database that is why I am using service ID.
    I came to know that I have to do user impersonation of user when i access database but how to do that?? can you guys give me the syntax for that as i have to perform all sql operation using impersonation.
    Please reply me as soon as possible as i stuck since long

    $varSQLServer.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUser = $true
    $varSQLServer.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserName = $varDBUser
    $varSQLServer.ConnectionContext.ConnectAsUserPassword = $varDBPassword
    } default {
    Write-Host "Please select an authentication type: 0=SSO, 1= SQL, 2=Domain"
    exit -1
