WRT100 | Firmware Version: 1.0.02 | UPGRADE FIRMWARE

I have checked the upgade firmware for my router (WRT100) and found a newer version available. I downloaded the file (which has an extension of ".bin") and attempted the upgrade. First, as far as I know, there is nothing to extract, and secondly, the upgrade process does not recognize the file to upgrade.
I am upgrading as I am experiencing between 25% and 50% dropped packets in all ping tests. This happens in 40%-60% of all ping tests. I have verified that all else is working correctly in my home. I have six computers connected to the device: 4-wired, and 2-wireless. The wireless units experience more dropped packets than the wired units, but all experience dropped packets.
Question: will the firmware upgrade solve the problem?? Or, is this router just screwed and worn out? I would hate to think that it is worn out as I just purchased it, replacing my old WRT-54.
Any and all suggestions would be most welcomed!!
Thanks, Jim Cotton/Atlanta

Still trying to make it work.
I have successfully downloaded this file: FW_WRT110_WRT100_1.0.05.003_EN_20080708,0.bin
I have it on my main c: dirve. I navigate to it via the upgrade option in the admin tab of my router. No problem so far.
But, when I click on the "Start to Upgrade" button (with this file display in the navi window), I'm greeted with a notice that says to please designite a firmware file to use. So, as fare as I can tell, the upgrade option is not seeing the file for some reason, or won't use it.
I've compared this file name with the last upgrade that successfully accomplished, and find the file names quite different.
Last Successful Firmware Upgrade file name: WRT100_1.0.02.034_fw.bin
Recent unSuccessful Download file name: FW_WRT110_WRT100_1.0.05.003_EN_20080708,0.bin
Notice the difference? Wonder if I should change the name to look like the older one; maybe that would work.
Anyway, let me know what you think. I'm getting a little frustrated. Also wondering if anyone thinks this will cure the dropped packets issue?

I've updated my WRT54G V7 with this firmware and many things are indeed fixed. The range of the wireless signal increased drasticly (from very low to very good). Since the upgrade I haven't need to reboot the router. I hope this will keep working and keep my fingers crossed...

I think I can upgrade my firmware, but I don't know which version.
The firmware version on the web interface says v0.93.9.  But the version on the CD says 1.3.  Neither of those choices are available when I go to the Download page at Linksys.
Can someone tell me which firmware version I can safely upgrade my router to?

  • WRT54G / upgraded firmware, unable to access across subnets

    Hi,
I have a network with 10 WRT54G (v6) 's.  Recently I upgraded the firmware on two units from 1.00.7 to the latest 1.02.2 and am experiencing some network wierdness.
The wireless routers are connected via the LAN port to a linux router which is a firewall/bridge between subnets 10.1.3.x & 10.1.1.x.  I have rules in place to allow my workstation to http to the 10 routers and disallow everything else.  All of this is logged.
I cannot from my workstation (10.1.1.x) access the web interface on the two units I upgraded the firmware on 10.1.3.x).  I can still access the web interface on the remaining units (10.1.3.x)
I can however access the web interface from the same subnet to the newly upgraded units.
I can see from the firewall log that the packet is making it out correctly and tcpdump verifies this.
Does anybody have a clue what is going on.  I feel like it would be best to return to the previous firmware, but where do I find it???
    Thanks,
    Lee

    Hi Lee,
logon to ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/ and download the previous firmware version and try downgrading the firmware...

  • Need link to WRT16Nv2 Firmware version 11 please.

I recently purchased a WRT160Nv2 router with firmware version 11.
I had it configured  to allow remote desktop connection to any of the 3 PCs.
    PC1 3389 (External) to 3389 (Internal) on IP aaa.aaa.aaa.aaa
    PC2 3390 (External) to 3389 (Internal) on IP bbb.bbb.bbb.bbb
    PC3 3391 (External) to 3389 (Internal) on IP ccc.ccc.ccc.ccc
    This worked fine.
However, I was having DNS issues that apparently were fixed in firmware version 15, so I upgraded.
And could no longer use the configuration above
As soon as I tried to enter the PC2 details (or PC3) it gave an error saying the port range was already in use.
I'm guessing that the firmware is not recognizing the different IP addresses and thinks the port 3389 is a duplicate.
After much searching, I found a link to firmware versio 8, which supposedly did not have the problems that version 11 has.
However, version 8 has the same issue as version 15 in not allowing the configuration I had.
Ande, after speaking to several online linksys chat people, and waiting patiently for a phone call from a tech, I do not have any link to firmware version 11.
So, if anyone happens to have a WRT160Nv2 with firmware version 11 still on it, and know some way to read the firmware out of it I would really appreciate it
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the link.
However, when I tried to register it told me my email address was banned (odd, since I've never been to that site).
Also, there is no contact information on the site for contacting the administrators so no way to get email unbanned in order to register to download the firmware.
I'm STILL waiting for the linksys tech to call, was supposed to be 48 hours from when I spoke to the tech online.

Thank you for the answers so far, but I'll make one correction: I said earlier that the Boston Globe website, boston.com, does not have a mobile site, and I would need to visit their regular website on my iPhone. Actually, I just found out that boston.com has a mobile site, so I'd obviously use that instead of the regular site. By doing that, I'd save a ton of data (I think). Does that change your answers?

  • WRT54GX2 Version 1 or 2? Firmware upgrade

I am having VPN problems with this router, and wish to upgrade firmware as first step in resolving this problem.  How do I know which version?
Also, when I look at the available firmware downloads, neither version 1 or 2 firmware downloads show my current firmware 1.01.14???
    What's up with this??
    Thank you for your input..
    Thorlane

Disregard.  I was finally able to reach Linksys Cust Service via chat, and they stated that if NO version is indicated above the serial number on this router, than it is version 1.  Also, ver 1.01.14 does not show up on firware updates is rather odd, and they said that it may have never been formally released, whatever that means..  Oh wellll.
    Happy networking....

That's not necessarily true: it depends on whether your network's version is available.

  • Will firmware version 4.1.7 automatically update to 4.1.9?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.3 from OS 10.0 on my Imac 700MHz G3. The installation documentation said that I would be prompted to upgrade the firmware if I needed to. I was not prompted so I went ahead and did the OS 10.3 installation. The firmware remained version 4.1.7f4 after the install.
Not too long ago I went through the same procedure on my Imac 400MHz DV. The only difference is that I started the upgraded process from OS 9.I, then to 9.2.2 using the updates (ending at the latest version of 9), then to 10.0, and then to 10.3. And finally updating with 10.3.9 combo to OS 10.3.9. During that whole process I never new about firmware and never checked to see what version I had before starting this process. After all of the above installations were finished I ended up with firmware version 4.1.9f1.
My concern is with the 700MHz G3 IMac. I'd like to update to 10.3.9 using the combo update but I'm concerned about the firmware. Will firmware 4.1.7f4 be updated automatically to 4.1.9f1 after the combo OS 10.3.9 is installed? Or should I erase the disk again and start over by first installing firmware update 4.1.9? Actually if that were the case I wouldn't be able to update my firmware since I don't have the correct bootable version of OS 9 on disk that is required for that computer. However my previous experience with the installations on the 400MHz DV suggests to me that that the firmware will automatically be updated. But I would like confirmation from the experts. I'd hate to spend all that time downloading and installing all of the latest updates (Combo 10.3.9, etc.) only to find that the firmware version is incorrect.
    Thanks!
    Al

    Al,
I don't understand your anger. In your first message
you posted that you installed OS 9 and updated it to
9.2.2. So why don't you do that again on the 700 MHz
    iMac?
I find it very amusing that somehow you see anger in my post. That is realy very funny! The reason I didn't just simply install OS 9 on the 700MHz Imac is stated in my original post. I would need a special (the original disk that came with this computer) bootable OS 9.1 disk to install 9.1 on this particular computer. However if there are retail 9.2 or greater disks available then that would work to. I own a retail version of 9.1 that I used for the 400MHz Imac. That wont work on the 700MHz Imac. So now I have to buy a another OS 9 disk. Thanks for your input. Al

    Hello pcyservice
There is NOT a way to downgrade/roll-back/revert to a previous firmware without wiping all data.  This is specifically mentioned on the firmware update page:
    " CAUTION!
This update is not data destructive, however, ALWAYS back up your data before performing any firmware update!
Once you have updated the firmware, you will NOT be able to revert to an older firmware version."
I recommend you disable any unnecessary features/protocols such as Media Server and Active Folders, then reboot the unit.

    Hi All ,
I am  experiencing problem while upgrading Cisco IP phone model 7911 in my VoIP setup as my Cisco CM server is using firmware version ‘SCCP11.8-3-4SR1S’ for these phones. Whereas new 7911 IP phones coming from Cisco as RMA these days are having latest firmware version ‘SCCP11.9.2(1)’. While resetting the phones to factory defaults they are getting hanged during upgradation and giving error ‘ term11.default’. As per my research, i cannot upgrade or downgrade phone firmware from sccp11.8-3-4 to sccp11.9.2 and vice versa  directly.
So i read the release notes of 9.2.1and  there I found, i have to upgrade phone first in 8.5.2 base release and then I can go any version.
But when I am upgrading my phone into base release 8.5.2, sometime my phone prompt me ''ERROR'' on display and boot from its previous ifirmware and sometime it prompt ''UNPROVISIONED'' on the display and phone get stuck there.
    My CUCM version is                     -6.1.2.1000
    IP PHONE FIRMWARE version     -SCCP11.8-3-4SR1S(existing)
    NEW load version                         -SCCP11.8.5.2
So request to all expert please suggest me to fix my issue.

What is the excact hardware version # of your router? U can find that underneath the router itself, there's a sticker there & its just right below the Linksys Logo. If its version 5 or 6, u can go to this website: www.linksys.com/connect . Download  & save Easylink Firmware Tool & then before u run that file after saving, disable first all your internet security like firewalls & anti- virus coz it will block the connection of this software from running properly. That EFL will automatically upgrade the firmware of your router.
