WRT110 and Motorola (ATT)

My WRT110  stopped working. The computer sees the wireless signal from the router but it will not connect with the Net. I plugged my comp into the router and nothing. I plugged my comp into my Motorola (ATT) router and it worked fine. I rebooted everything and nothing. I reset my router to factory settings and then made the adjustments suggested in this forum = nothing. I erased all linksys from my comp and reloaded/downloaded (upgraded?)  everything as per linksys.com and this forum - nothing.  I tried to get in touch with a linksys rep but no luck.    I went to Best Buy and talked to an installer.  He said the talk to ATT (my service provider) but he thought the router was dead.  I talked to ATT and got the same opinion. My  desktop comp is only 4mths old and my router is less than that. I have tried most of the suggestions in this forum.  Should I just throw the linksys away and buy a Netgear?
Thanks

Hello Big Johnson, try this simple steps to help you identify if you can still use your router.
► connect your PC directly to your router's port 1 (don't connect the modem)
► check lights on the router, power light should turn solid and make sure port 1 light will lit up (that's ok if its blinking)
    • if power light will not turn solid then try this steps:
      > reset router for 30 seconds by pressing and holding down the reset button firmly at the back of the router while its on.
      > after letting go off the reset button, unplug the power cord at the back of the router and wait again for another 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
      > wait for the power light to turn solid
      > if power won't turn solid then set static ip on pc to check if you can still do an update for your router. You can set your ip to IP:192.168.1.10, SM:255.255.255.0, DG:192.168.1.1
      > after setting static ip on PC, try to ping the DG numbers. If you got replies and 0% loss that means you can still update your router's firmware and fix it but if you got 100% loss and got Request Timed Out then you can't do any updates anymore and it's time for you to replace your router.
You can get your update here.
How to upgrade your router's firmware? Click here.
    • if power light is solid and port 1 light not lit then try this steps:
      > go to your Control Panel
      > open Network Connections
      > right-click LAN and select Disable
      > right-click LAN and select Enable
      > check port 1 light if lit
► if you have power light solid, wireless light lit, port 1 lit on your router then check if your PC can get an IP address from your router by right-clicking the LAN and select Status from the options. Click the Support tab once open and check if there's IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway.
► if you're getting an IP from the router then start reconfiguring your router.
How to make the router talk to the modem?:
► connect PC to Modem
► check IP - if you're getting a public IP like 69.XXX.XXX.XXX or 72.XXX.XXX.XXX and if you're online wired straight to your Modem then do this steps to configure your router. (the steps are just like setting up a Cable Internet connection) If your getting an IP like 192.XXX.XXX.XXX and still online on the modem then follow this steps.
Hope that helps you out. Good Luck!

  • WLC 5508 and Motorola Symbol Handheld issue

Hi everyone, i have a weird problem and i hope you can help me guys!!
I have just migrate a Symbol-based autonomous wireless network to a Cisco Controller-based environment and everything apparently was working fine. However a few weeks later the installation was over, my customer reported they can't access to a server's shared folder.
This WLAN environment is installed in a warehouse and it is meant to support two different types of users: Regular Lap Top users and Motorola-Symbol Handhels. There are two SSIDs with static security methods (one with WPA+PSK and the other with static WEP key), Handhelds are joined to the SSID with static WEP key. So, here's the deal, this handhelds can join the network without any connectivity issues, roaming, signal strenght, etc. They can also ping everywhere. The problem is that when they need to access a server's shared folder and download files, handhelds displays a bad network path error message. If you do the same with a lap top, you can access the server´s folder with no problems. The handheld model is a Motorola-Symbol 9090 with Windows CE operating system version 5.0. Cisco infraestructure is as follows: WLC5508 running OS version 7.0.116.0 and AIR-LAP1142N-N-K9 series Access Points. In adition, i made a lab back in the office, and reproduce the problem. I tested with an autonomous AP same model and I can actually access a server's folder with no issue but int the very moment i test with a controller-based network i get the same result. I have made several changes in both, handheld and controller, based on a Cisco document for Motorola-Symbol and Cisco best practices. I also have placed a sniffer on my network but I can´t see any traffic when joined throught controller's WLAN. I placed it in the link between WLC and switch and between the switch and the Cisco AP.
    Thank you all in advance

    Mario:
I am glad that it worked.
well, enabling boradcast/multicast is not recommended if it is not bieng used. It saves bandwidth if it is disabled. However, if it is needed you can enabled it.
BTW, what I know with old versions (before 7.0.116.0) that enabling broadcast only does not work unless you enable multicast as well.
    enabling multicast:
    # config network multicast global enable.
I worked with one customer before where enabling the broadcast does not work until multicast is also enabled. Do you have the multicast config globally enabled already?

  • Recently moved and installed ATT DLS - I use their wireless router and connectted my airport express - Now I'm getting the Blue ? on some images

Recently moved and installed ATT DLS - I use their wireless router and connectted my airport express - Now I'm getting the Blue ? on some images - and at times - videos don't load.  I've increased / deleted Cache.  Suggestions? Misconfig?  Could it be possible my configuration from MacBook to router isn't correct?
    Thanks!

    JG,
    Thanks for the info.
Couple of questions. I found an apple support document on this topic that opened with this line:
"AirPort Express and all AirPort Extreme base stations can use WDS. Earlier AirPort base stations can't."
If the TC is an airport extreme base station, why can't this work to extend the network? I think I misunderstand. Here is the full article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2044?viewlocale=en_US
If I buy a new airport extreme, set it to wireless-n only as my main router, am I correct that my existing time capsule could be used as a bridge if plugged in upstairs?
Final question (and that should do it), could I take this old airport express, plug it in upstairs using the ethernet connection, and just create a separate wireless network to use with a different name?
I'd like to keep one network if possible but just kicking around short term solutions.
    Thanks again.

  • Bluetooth - MacBook Pro and Motorola w376g

I AM DIRECTLY RE-POSTING THIS FROM ANOTHER USER...i saw no answers there but i am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM and REALLY want some help!
To everyone who are familiar with Motorola, I am having problems trying to connect with my cell phone via Bluetooth when I am attempting to sync files. When I set up the connection with my Macbook, the setup was successful when paired with each other. (Macbook and Motorola w376g) But when I use my phone and the Macbook, I couldn't connect with my cell phone with the Macbook because according with the Macbook, my phone "does not have the necessary services." Any ideas?
(Also, this isn't really to do with mac, but does anyone know how i can get realtones on my motorola w376g other than using the few that are at tracfone.com? I don't care if they are free or not, i just don't want to be stuck with poly tones on a phone that can play realtones)

Have you turned on *Bluetooth Sharing* in the Sharing system preferences pane?
If you have, what Services does your phone report as having in the Bluetooth system preferences pane? For file transfers it needs *OBEX File Transfer* and *OBEX Object Push*

  • Cannot send email using mac mail and yahoo att

I recently was hacked and changed my att yahoo password and security questions. I got a confirmation email about this but not about changing the password. I can receive mail, but not send any. All my settings in preferences seem to be correct. The TLS certificate is not check however, and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. The port number has not been changed, nor the outgoing service address: which is:  smtp.att.yahoo.com: (followed by my email account name). I've had this email address for years and want to keep using it. apparently Yahoo has been having allot of problems over the last few days and I've found it hard to access their trouble shooting sites and log in page. Is there something I can do on my end to fix this? Thanks.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • ISync and Motorola Razr2 V9 problem

    Hi all,
I know there was a similar thread, but it's been archived so I can't post there. I just got a Motorola Razr2 V9x and tried to sync it with my Mac. I know I need a plugin for this. I have the plugin and iSync recognizes the phone. Whenever I try to sync I get an error message:
    Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
The phone is on of course and restarting it doesn't help. When I try syncing iSync starts the process and the Bluetooth indicator light on the phone blinks briefly, then I get the error message. Any ideas what's wrong?

I just replaced my v400 after several years, a long service life for a cell phone.
Anyway, I never had a problem with iSync, except that at first I didn't "point" it to the Address Book directory I wanted to sync with. Are you sure the new entries are in the directory (or group) that you're syncing with? Click on the v400 icon in the iSync window and double check the Contacts drop down box.

  • ISync and Motorola RAZR

I have one of the original RAZR's and a MacBook Pro running 10.4.11. I've been using Motorola Phone Tools on a PC and syncing with Outlook without issue. When I bought my Mac, I wanted to sync with it instead. Tried exporting contacts from Outlook and importing in Address Book. No dice. Created entries from scratch. I deleted all contacts off my phone and used iSync. Many entries not copied to phone, and MANY entries in Address Book lose their numbers and addresses. I re-sync with Phone Tools to get original contacts back on my phone, and then match up entries from Address Book and phone manually. Did this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1320120&tstart=0 <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1320120&tstart=0>
Then run iSync again, and I get duplicate entries on both the phone and in Address Book. For a company that wants people to switch from PC's to Macs, this doesn't work very well.

The Verizon Wireless-supplied Motorola RAZR V3c is explicitly supported only by the latest release of iSync—version 2.2—which is a part of the Mac OS X 10.4.6 update. Prior to this release it was not, but could be used with the addition of third-party plug-ins.
However, there are three significant limitations inherent in this handset:
    1. Calendar synchronization is not supported. This is a Verizon issue and may be resolved in future firmware updates from Verizon.
    2. Verizon has reverted to its long-standing practice of disabling the Bluetooth OBEX profile, so that files cannot be exchanged between your handset and your Macintosh. They do this to preserve their ongoing revenue stream from pay-to-transfer options like Get it Now. Initially, this handset inexplicably did not have the OBEX profile disabled, but that 'oversight' has been 'corrected' in subsequent releases.
    3. The V3c is a V CAST device, and as such, cannot be used as a CDMA wireless modem to connect to the internet. Many Verizon-supplied mobile handsets and smartphones do include a DUN [Dial Up Networking] profile, but V CAST devices do not. I mention this because the lack of DUN support may be a 'deal breaker' for Verizon subscribers like you.

  • Remote and Motorola DVR Problems

I was connected to fios internet and tv on March 5, I have called tech support at least 8 times about the remote not working . I have had 3 boxes and 2 remotes sent to me and I still have the problem . I have a Sony Bravia LCD 40" TV
The first box was a Motorola QIP 72161 that came with the installation (remote worked intermittent)
I was sent a new remote same results
Sent a new box the old style 64xxxx remote worked but the hard drive was bad
New box Motorola QIP 72161 same problem
Tech support advised me I did not set up the remote codes properly (had same results it would work for a while then stop)
Tech support hung up on me
Tech support had me lower the picture settings advised me the picture was too bright and it interfered with the remote. She was very polite and helpful saying that this is a known issue and the problem is in the new Motorola boxes Sony, Samsung Sharp all are having this problem  (worked all day but not at night)
Tech support told me I had to move the box from out from under the TV still did not work and that was all the solutions they had. By the way the remote works with the TV off. Played around with the settings on the TV ended up increasing the setting to vivid and the remote worked the rest of the night. So much for the brightness theory. But alas it did not  work again this morning. Again the remote works with the TV off. Played around some more and you know when you first turn on the power to the TV you have a blank screen well the remote won't work then either. Although when I turn off and on lights I get a response one way Or another.
The attitude from the last techie is this is the way it is. I seems unfathomable that this is the response change your entertainment center watch a reduced quality picture or too bad.

You are welcome funkyybuda. This seems to be a "hit or miss" problem, some people say turning off the light sensor helps, some say turning off the "vivid" mode on the TV works, some say neither helps, etc. But apparently for some people, changing a setting on the TV really does help, I guess it just depends on your TV brand and model, or perhaps the specific STB you have. Strange.....but glad it worked for you
As to why it works, the Verizon STBs use infrared (IR) for the remote to control the STB. Apparently some TVs generate their own IR signal for certain settings, like vivid or the light sensor, and the Verizon STB sees these signals and this prevents their reacting to the IR signal from the remote. So doing whatever you can to remove the IR from the TV, or reduce it, seems to solve the problem. I wonder why all STBs that use IR, from all manufacturers and used in all systems, don't experience this problem with TVs that generate their own IR. Just one of life's mysteries I guess....

  • Bluetooth Portege 4010 - probs connecting to samsung and motorola phones

I have a portege 4010 with bluetooth. I am trying to connect to our two phones - a samsung sgh-e370 (newish) and a motorola V600 (2 yrs old). Both have BT. I have downloaded and installed the latest Tosh BT stack (4.0.something). Device Manager shows four tosh drivers under BT - all are OK. I have enabled discovery and permit connection on the tosh. I have done the same on the phones. When I run the "Add new Connection" wizard on the tosh, it finds both phones and they show up under devices in BT manager with the names I gave them on the actual phones. However, neither phone picked the tosh up and did not show the tosh as requesting the pin numbers on the phones.
The net result is I now have both phones showing up in BT manager, but if I click on either and choose use/connect I get back the error "Connection failed"
If I try to find the portege using the phones, the samsung finds it but the motorola does not. I can't get the motorola to pair with the tosh - it justs says "Unable to pair with portege".
    Any help gratefully received.
    RJ

    Hello
I really don't know what is problem in your case but I have done this few times with my Motorola RAZR V3 and it works fantastic. The whole thing was finished for 1 minute. I hope you do this in right order but I write to you which steps I have done:
    1. activate Bluetooth using FN+F8 key combination
    2. install all new hardware components if necessary (few of them)
    3. start Bluetooth stack
    4. activate the Bluetooth on the mobile phone (discoverable)
    5. choose Express mode > Next
    6. Choose visible device listed in 'Bluetooth device list' > Next
    7. Choose pass key for identification (1234)
    8. Enter the key into mobile phone. Paring will be success
I have done it on this way and now I can send all documents to my Tecra. If you want to use it as modem you must do this:
    1. After paring Go to Next and configure the internet connection
    (provider number) > Finish
    2. the new connection will be created in Bluetooth stack utility
    3. you can start the dialing up with double click or click with right mouse button and choose 'Connect'

  • IChat, Airport and Motorola surfboard modem

    Hi all,
I cannot get iChat to work with a particular buddy after moving to another city with another Cable ISP.
I use an airport extreme basestation and have a motorola surfboard modem SB5120. The airport extreme is configured to connect to the internet using DHCP and both my iMac and iBook are configured to connect to the base station using DHCP. I've connected to this buddy succesfully every time on my old network using these settings.
    What I tried...
I cannot work with static IP's because my ISP only works with dynamic IP's.
    I've deleted com.apple.ichat.plist... No effect!
The motorola modem is not configurable in its html interface. My ISP however assures me it doesn't block ports and lets all traffic come through.
Quicktime streaming: automatic... iChat: no bandwidth limit
    However...
Configuring the airport base station to not hand out IP adresses, is a FIX, but off course the iBook then cannot connect to the internet.
AND... when i DO configure it to hand out IP adresses and try to connect to several testadresses posted elsewhere in this forum (not just the Apple ones) i connect every time.
I don't know what is wrong, but it has me glued to my iMac for a week trying to come up with a solution. I've even combo updated my iMac with all firewire devices disconnected. I'm DESPERATE. .
Thanks in advance for your highly anticipated advice.
    Greetz,
    Rob

    I have a simular modem and set-up.
    The set-up is as follows:
    Cable Modem <--> AEBS <--> Switch <--> Mac/Vonage/other pc/AE
I have all of my Mac/PC set to a static IP address (You configure each MAC/PC with a different IP address 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, etc) Your DNS servers are required anytime you go with a static IP address. You can find out your DNS server by launching the Airport Admin Utility and clicking on network. The numbers will be greyed out and not in the normal white box that is listed.
    Router should be 192.168.1.1
That should get you on the internet.
Next while your in Airport Admin, under internet confirm the following:
    Connect using: ethernet
    Configure: Using DHCP
    IP address: (should be listed)
    Subnet mask (should be listed)
    Router address: (should be listed)
Next, click network and distribute ip addresses should be checked along with share a single ip address (using dhcp & nat) using the 192.168.1.1 addressing.
Next, under port mapping - map the following ports to your primary machines ip number (mine is 192.168.1.100)
5060,5190,5297,5298,5353,5678 as public ip address 192.168.1.100 and private as 192.168.1.100
If all that checks out, you have the same setting as I do with a very simular modem and I can connect with both PC and MAC users with no issues.
    Does this help?
P.S. If you setup is the same as me and you still have issues, I had a friend that it was necesarry for him to call his local ISP and they made a change to his IP addressing-then all worked fine.

  • Using a BEFSR41v3 with a WRT110 and will a WRE54G work with the WRT110

I want to use the BEFSR41 as my main router and use the WRT110 as an access point (wired from the BEFSR41) on the 2nd  floor of my house. Will this work?  Will I lose speed??
Is the WRE54G compatible (and will it work) with the WRT110?

If you want to use WRT110 with BEFSR41 then, you need to hardwired the wireless router to the wired router using an ethernet cable.Follow this link to cascade both the router.
If the Range Expander is version3 then,it should work with WRT110.
