WRT110 and Vista Fix

Ok, like various other users, I had a weird issue with my Vista laptop.  It would work fine if it was hard wired, but as soon as I turned my wireless adapter on, the laptop would lose connection, even on the wired connection.
I did a lot of research, and discovered that for some reason, Vista likes to push IPV6 across the wireless, rather that IPV4, and alot of routers will disconnect, or flat out refuse to connect.
Here is how you fix the issue in Vista
1. Right click on your network connection icon, and  select Network and Sharing Center.
2. On the left side, select  manage network connections.
3. Right click on the wireless  network connection, and select properties.Vista will probably pop up a "Windows needs your permission to continue" window, just select continue
4. In the large window that says "This connection uses the following items", deselect Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
5. Click ok
6.Either reboot, or if you feel extra frosty, open a cmd window, and do a ipconfig /renew
So far it has fixed my issues.  I still have to upgrade to the newest firmware.  I'm currently running 1.0.04, and I'm happily sitting here typing this on the wireless adapter.

thanks for this procedures, sir. it is really a big help.
for heads up!

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 Fix for WinXP and Vista, IE7, IE8, Firefox, ect.(New Fast Fix)

(This is a possible solution for most users) I have found that inside the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash (WinXP Home/Pro) (Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash for Vista) there should be a file named FlashUtil10b.exe (IF NOT YOU SHOULD UPDATE AS SPECIFIED!) (or FlashUtil10a.exe or for older versions something similar depending on your version), which is the update utility for flash player. Click on this and if it updates, you will have to restart your computer. This should fix any missing files, and update you to the latest version.
On a side note to all those who read this, I downloaded and installed 5 different times, the same version, from different websites, all for the "new" flash version, and they didn't work (this also included trying to update Shockwave player itself). Apparently, going directly to the website and downloading a new version of Adobe Flash Player, and installing, doesn't uninstall the older version, (though it says it does nor does the uninstaller work directly from the website) nor fixes the problem. I assume they are aware of this problem, because they included this bug fix in revision 10b. This fix should work for those of you whom cannot view/see flash images as well. There also appears to be a bug/reference problem with the installation of IE8 giving the error "Missing Shockwave Decompression XTRA", when trying to play a Shockwave/Flash file, which seems also to affect Firefox and other browsers. It doesn't recognize that the folder or files that it needs in it, exist. I never had his problem before, until IE8 was installed. I checked which version I had in the system32 folder and found this updater built in to Adobe. Version 10a does NOT automatically update, but version 10b includes this fix. I currently had version 10a when I received this error, and began digging for a solution. Doing the update as described above fixed the problem, and updated it to version 10b.
The new flash version 10b has some new features, such as volume control, auto-updating, and several rendering options for those who may have a faster or slower computer/video card.
I found this works great for XP users but unsure of the Vista users. The process is the same  for Vista and the update should still work the same, as long as you run it as Administrator, I assume. I have this also posted on wwwdslreports.com at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22115254-IE-IE8-and-Adobe-Flash-Question and here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22361930-Adobe-Flash-Player-10-Fix-for-WinXP-IE 8-Firefox-ect. It appears to work for everyone so far. I have not heard of any problems from users with this problem running the RC (Release Canidate) for Windows 7 yet.
I hope this works to your benefit.
Please leave a reply to help Adobe and other users know if this fix worked for you or not. If not, please explain what you did, and the effects your seeing, including operating system, site of the flash file trying to view, browser type (ex. IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox, Opera, ect.), and I will try to help you as best I can.
(I would strongly recommend those not using IE8, or Firefox 3.5, get the updated versions)
If your looking for uninstallers go to this site: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
If your looking for a true full install, you can download this developer version for Windows and Mac: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flash_player_update2_flash10.zi p (44MB) (If you download this, I would recommend you still follow my instructions for the Flash Utility before restarting your computer.)

I would recommend all users having problems try the above solution first.
I have posted this on a couple of websites, and so far it has fixed everyones problems.
Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 has Adobe Flash Player coding built into the browser so that it not only loads faster but works better.
You still need to have the Adobe ActiveX plug-in and Adobe Flash Player for both browsers.
I would also recommend you download Shockwave Player 11.
IE8 has tried this as well, but it still has a couple bugs in it.
If you have IE8 or FireFox 3.5 Beta 4, and you are still having problems, then I recommend that you go to www.windowsupdate.com and get all of the latest updates (including SP3), then try this fix again.
Your auto-updater built into windows (If you even have it on) doesn't always pull down every update available for your computer. It only pulls down the manditory ones.
Sometimes you HAVE to go to the website and manually get them yourself. I recommend when you go to the website, you click on custom install and pick every last one of them to install, which includes, hardware and software fixes for your computer.
What a lot of people don't know is that when you have installed and tried all of the recommended fixes that Adobe gives you, and it still doesn't work, is that you are having registry conflicts within your Operating System (OS ex. WinXP, Vista, Linux, ect.), and that it is not the Adobe software at all.
Those are usually repaired by making sure your computer stays up to date.
The fact is the computer world is changing so rapidly that everyone can't keep up. You have to check for updates weekly.
If you fall behind on those updates, then you start having problems with your computer and/or software.
One problem then can turn into many and people get frustrated when something all the sudden just quits working.
Take a day or two at least once a month, and make sure you update and maintain your computer.
This includes disk defragmenting, disk cleanup, and making sure you have all the lastest updates.
You can get to Disk Defrag, and Disk Cleanup by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, then to System Tools.
I would do Disk Cleanup first, then Defrag.
I hope you take this advise into consideration, and that it is very helpful for you.
If you find this useful, please come back and reply to this forum, and let everyone know so that others will be encouraged to do this.
Thanks and goodluck, from another user like you.

  • Firefox mage quality and resolution was superb when I used XP and Vista. Now that I have Windows 7, however (with the Firefox 3.6.3 version), the image quality and resolution is poor. Please help me!

I am using the Firefox 3.6.3 version with my new Windows 7 operating system. When I used all the previous Firefox versions in my XP and Vista operating systems, image quality and resolution was excellent! However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.3, the image quality and resolution is poor (unacceptable for downloading purposes).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I first activated my new computer and installed the Firefox 3.6.3.

All my images are pixelated in firefox 3.6.3
    http://www.dcgdcreative.com
Not only on my site but on most sites I view.
The issue is not solved by resetting the zoom text view (ctrl+0)
The issue is not resolved by starting in safemode with add-ons disabled
The problem seems to only affect .jpeg files and only on Windows 7 on my desktop; as I have viewed several sites using windows XP with my laptop, no issues.
I had the same issue with IE8 and was able to fix the problem with by setting up the compatibility view for all sites. Issue fixed no problems at all. But nothing similar for firefox?
    Whats the deal?

    Hi there!
Please see  this thread for the download links for the Fingerprint Software 5.8 ....
This issue was already raised in the ThinkVantage subforum here at Lenovo Forums and it is resolved.
Regarding the Turbo Memory, please keep in mind that the hardware only works with Vista. Windows XP does not support turbo memory thus the piece of hardware is rendered useless. With regards to Turbo Memory usage in Vista, the latest drivers do fully support the card in Vista and since there are no technological changes, there is no need for additional or new drivers.
    Hope this helps!

  • Photoshop CS4 file associations (Vista) - fix

--Only tried on Windows Vista - For those who upgraded from Photoshop CS3 to CS4 and lost the ability to associate Photoshop with specific file extensions (like .jpg) because it didn't show up in the "Openwith" list.  You might want to try this fix:
    Because the upgrade install did not update the following registry entry;
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command]
    Mine was still set to
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS3\\Photoshop.exe\" \"%1\""
Windows doesn't see the new CS4 version as an application and if you have uninstalled CS3 it doesn't see Photoshop as an application period.
Type the following in a text file and save it with a '.reg' extension.  Make sure that the path is correct in the last line and uses the exact syntax shown (cut and paste should work but make sure you check that the Photoshop.exe file path is correct for your machine.)  Save it to your desktop and double clicking it should automagically update your registry.
This is much safer than mucking about in regedit but still be careful not to make any typos, they can have unexpected results.
========= start file at next line
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command]
    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS4\\Photoshop.exe\" \"%1\""
========== end of file at line before this
Why Adobe didn't do this in the install is beyond my simple mind to ascertain.

    Thanks tonyperry1951
I was having trouble in Windows 7 with CS5 and Windows Photo Viewer. Photoshop was not shown in the "open with" list of programs and would not load from the browse button.
I followed your registry instructions and found that I had an old line with CS4 in it. I changed the 4  to a 5 and that fixed the problem. This is what my registery looks like now.
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
Thanks for your help with this fix.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard and Vista

Having a couple problems with Acrobat 8 Standard under a clean Vista install:
    1)  Initially, PDFs would not open in Internet Explorer at all.  IE would error and treat it as a bad link, even though it wasn't.  I disabled "Protected Mode" and it fixed this problem, but I am not sure if this was the best workaround?
    2)  Is there some special trick to getting my adobe toolbars to maintain my customized settings every time I open adobe?  I customize my toolbars and even select "lock toolbars" and then every time I open a new document certain tools are gone.  It's like it isn't saving layout or toolbars or anything everytime I close.
    Thanks!

Open a file in WORD or PPT. Now try the following steps to troubleshoot the process:
    1. Go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer and check print-to-file. Select OK and choose a location and file name you can remember. The extension will be prn by default, even though it is a PS file. If this step completes (it should), start Distiller. Open the file in Distiller and see if a PDF is produced (if not, note the error messages that are listed and bring them back).
    2. If (1) worked, then repeat the process without the print-to-file checked. You should be asked for a location and file name for the PDF file. Does this step work? If not, then check the running tasks (ctrl-alt-del) and be sure that AcroTray is running. If not, go to the Distiller folder and start it, repeating this step.
    3. Once you have gotten (2) to work, then proceed with PDF Maker, the Adobe icon in WORD or PPT. With your version of these products, there should not be a problem with the disabling within the OFFICE products as there is with newer versions of OFFICE.
Hopefully that gets you where you need to go. Bill

  • Writing file with windows 7 and vista os..

    hi,
since i am using Windows XP operating system with Labview, i made a executable file and i trying to install with Windows 7 or Vista OS installed PC.
when my device is detect it will gives the hardware information , that have to save in to the hard disk, where i am usually putting near to my Application
program exe file. using XP will not be any problem its creates and writes the information file.
for the Vista and windows 7 OS has a adminstrative writes it wont allow to create and write a new file where near to application exe file.
is there any method has to set these file for administrative rights on Windows 7 and vista OS?
i am using Labview 8.6 version
    Regards,
    Balaji DP

You would need to log into the computer with an account that has administrative rights. Or, you could configure the application to run under the administrator account. Both of these are Windows operations.
Or, you could fix your code so it doesn't do that.

  • Airport Express and Vista DHCP - HELP ME!

    Hello,
I have HP Pavilion model of laptop with Broadcomm Wireless chipset and Vista Home Basic on board. I am trying to connect to my Airport Express router but no way to obtain IP address from the router. On my Macbook everything work fine without any problems. Vista cannot connect to Airport, why, any incopatibility, how to fix it? I have read about DHCP Broadcast flag enabled in Vista, but I tried setting it to 0 and nothing. I am using closed network configuration and WPA2. No iTunes installed on Vista so far.
    Please any suggestions?

Welcome to the discussions forum Gary.
I can find nothing likely to be the instruction sheet you mentioned, but it shouldn't be necessary. What you probably need to do is download and install Apple's latest version of Airport Utility for Windows:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AirPortUtility_5_4_1Windows
If you can't see your Express in Airport Utility you might need to reset it, followed by reconfiguring it with Airport Utility: Resetting AirPort Express
You might want to upload new firmware. The latest firmware for a two year old Express is version 6.3. Airport Utility contains that firmware and will tell you what to do if you need to do it.
If you still can't see your Express, you might have some Windows firewall issue to cope with. Try turning your Windows firewall "off" temporarily, until you fix that problem.
Your iTunes will be disturbing your neighbors again before you know it. Hope it helps!

  • Scanning with Kodak i65 and Vista

    Hi,
I am having trouble 'Creating a PDF from Scanner' with a Kodak i65 scanner. Everytime I attempt to scan a document with Acrobat 8 and Vista I receive a scanning failed message. The 'Scan Validation Tool' scans documents fine to the .tiff format however when I try to scan documents with Acrobat 8 it doesn't work and I get 'Scanning failed.'
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I have the exact same problem. Except I have the Kodak i30 Scanner. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed).
In the past, I ran the following configurations on an older computer with no problems:
    - Windows XP & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
    - Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0 (with all of its various updates)
    - Windows Vista & Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (with the Security Update 1 installed)
However, when I built a new computer, installed Windows Vista Ultimate, installed the Kodak i30 Scanner, I receive a "Scanning failed." error everytime I try to scan directly into Acrobat.
BTW, I HAVE "tried with latest Scan Validation Tool and firmware update from Kodak site." Updating the SVT and firmware neither helped nor hurt.
Has anyone had a successful fix to this issue?

  • Director and Vista

    Hi Sean,
I create a folder and copy files into this folder either in Program Files for PC or Applications for Mac. Works well for Windows 2000 to XP and Mac OSX.
A client using Vista is having difficulty but is unclear as to exactly what is happening. I'm thinking it may simply be permissions.
This is code I use to detect the platform and create the folder:
if the platform contains "Mac" then
        filePath = baSysFolder("apps") & gFolder
      end if
if the platform contains "Windows" then
        filePath = baSysFolder("program files") & gFolder

CDdrive = (the moviePath) & "FileDir"
      set copyFrom = CDdrive
      set copyTo = field ("SaveTo")
      cursor 4
set checkStatus = baXCopy(copyFrom, copyTo, "*.*", "Always", false)

There is no problem in 32 bit vista home edition
I tried many Vga drivers. Now using moded 181.20
I tried all bios versions released on msi website.
All other drivers are up to date.
There are lots of users having same problem
I will be glad if anyone can help me.
    Thanks

They wouldn't, not officially. NVIDIA started to support gamers with laptops and will do it in future, regularly. But the real problem is, that most of other vendors have their GPUs supported in those drivers and MSI doesn't, it's completely missing NVMI.INF file. Note, that there is no universal INF file, but many of them named after vendors according to the NVIDIA's filename scheme.
But beta status has not to do with the fact those drivers are working and MSI products simply aren't there.
Other side of the issue is, that MSI is selling so called gaming laptops and didn't updated the drivers since, well, July 2008 (GX630, ForceWare 176.10) or September 2008 (GX620, Forceware 176.60). It just cannot keep up with game releases and bug fixes for new games included in every ForceWare release. This kind of support is simply not enough for the respective audience.
Don't understand me wrong - the products are excellent and even my brother just ordered GX630.
Back to the issue - guys, try to use newer drivers for GX620 if you have MSI laptop with NVIDIA - and yes, even when it's not GX620. All NVIDI GPU's should be supported, check the list:

  • Boot camp and Vista home basic

everything seems to be working well with BC and Vista. Vista has this tool that automatically checks for problems, and then tries to find solutions, this is all done in the background. When I check to see if I had any problems, well I do. It states that there are missing Apple drivers and these drivers can be found on the apple website or by using Apple software update. Well Software update says all is up to date, and that goes for Apple and Vista. Is there anyone else experiencing this with Vista Home Basic?
    Thanks.

you may need to re insert leopard and re download the drivers. There is also an option to "fix" the drivers when doing this. That's what I had to do.
