WRT110 Bricked after fw update to 1.0.07

My wrt110 started disconnecting twice and even three times a day for the past week or so.  After getting tired of it I decided to look for a fw update.  Hold and behold there was, from 1.0.05 I was going to upgrade to 1.0.07.  Well halfway through the process using the web-console connected via ethernet & ie8 the freaking upgrade stopped at 80% and the browser page went blank.  Immediately I knew I was probably out of luck, looked at the wrt110 to see a blinking power light.  I've done all the resets in the world inluding the so called 30-30-30 to no avail.

As the power light on the router is blinking, the router seems to be bricked.Try this link to Unbrick the router and try to upgrade the firmware again on the router.

  • IPad 3 bricked after IOS update, will not restore through iTunes

    Hi,
I have an iPad 3 wifi/3g model that bricked after an IOS update 7.0.6. The update failed at about 70% (Apple Logo with progress line on screen) and rebooted into recovery mode. I've tried doing a restore through iTunes mulitple times and even looked at jailbreaking it but no luck. It always fails during the update and I have tried muliple computers (Windows and Mac) Different networks (Home/Work) but the issue is still there.
The device won't go into DFU mode and in itunes it shows the serial number as n/a like the iPad has no software on it at all. I've tried everything I can thing of and I've had plenty of experiences recoverying and restoring IOS devices in the past. Tinyumberlla and other utils won't get it out of recovery mode and now iTunes won't even try to load the firmware back on the device, it just fails after extracting software.
I'm thinking its now a hardware issue, does anyone have another solution to try?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • X131e 3367 bricked after bios update

Hello, I have bougt used x131e 3367. After successful update of drivers (Win8) using System update 5 I decided to update also offered new bios. After flash and restart I can hear only beeps 1-3-3-1. I have tried to find solution to recover BIOS but no luck. Solution with wincrisis does not work for me. I have tried to use e_bcpvpw.exe with $0AG9000.FL1 file but no luck - Source file format not acceptable - missing header!
    Suggestion are welcome.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    OK,
if memory stick are preinstalled from Lenovo' factory BIOS upgrade can't cause beeps issue. There might be issues if memory stick parameters are not the same as officially supported.
I think you're finding the name of BIOS recovery file name. Have you a file fvrecovery.fd in the folder where BIOS update tool is unpacked in?

  • Nokia X6 Bricked after Software Update :(

I have nokia X6 8gb. Yesterday i decided to update its software by connecting it to pc via usb and ovi suite. Every thing worked perfectly and update started installing. Then after it finished. Phone turned off. I thought that it was usual as phone would need a restart after installation. I waited... Waited and then waited 15 minutes and it didnt turned on automatically. So i pressed the power button and phone just gave a vibration and did nothing else. No even the red/green light blinked when i pressed power button.
It is really ridiculous stuff. Firmware updates are not meant to brick the phone.
Before anyone ask, i'll make it clear that i havent installed any cracked/unsigned stuff on my phone. Everything was legit.
My phone is just 4 months old so nokia should either repair or replace the phone free of cost. Am i right? I need a conformation from someone legit.
Another thing i would like to ask, is it necessary to bring the purchase bill to the service center? Wont they know by checking the imei number who is the buyer and then they could check my driving license to confirm ? I'm on vacation so can go back in between just to get the bill.

Have you looked at this post on forum?

Nokia Care Point won't necessarily have to verify ownership as if sold in EU it will be recorded as eligible for 24 months warranty and you're not asking them to reset "lock code" which can be suspicious.
Unfortunately firmware updates can fail and your X6 probably just needs to be re-flashed.

  • TBolt bricked after software update

Hi All:  I'm a newb to Android--migrated from HTC TP2/Windows 6.1 just 4 days ago.  Early this morning I got a notification about a software upgrade from Verizon.  Selected okay, watched the progress of the download bar for about five minutes.  Phone then apparently started installing the upgrade as another progress bar appeared and completed.  When it finished, phone powered off.  Turned on and showed the first HTC screen.  After about 20 seconds it powered off again.  Turned on and showed first HTC screen.  After about 20 seconds powered off again.  You get the idea.  This went on 10 or 15 times until I removed battery.  Turned back on and same on/off sequence repeated indefinitely.
Called VZW tech support in hopes I could save my settings/customizations.  No dice.  They had me do a hard reset.  Unfortunately, after that, the same on/off sequence started up again.  They said there was nothing else they could do.  Since I hadn't had my phone for 14 days, I was told to contact my vendor, which I did.  They're sending a new phone due to arrive Tuesday.
FWIW, I had installed only seven apps on the phone:  Juice Defender Ultimate, Juice Plotter, AppsInstaller (not yet used), AutoKiller Memory Optimizer (not yet used), SeePU (not yet used), and Advanced Task Killer Pro.  In case it matters, I installed AutoKiller Memory Optimizer simply because it was recommended during the install of Juice Defender as an additional battery saver.  Its blurb indicates that one of its features (setting minfree values) only works with rooted phones, however my phone was not rooted nor do I have any desire to do so.
My questions are (1) what did I do wrong if anything, and (2) I'd like to keep my phone up-to-date, but I'm understandably reluctant to allow another of these upgrades in the future lest I wind up with another doorstop.  Are there any other options for updating firmware that are less risky?
Thanks for any help/suggestions you all can offer.

    HighPeaks wrote:
Thanks for the response Wildman.  At the time of  my firmware update, I had only used ATK to manually kill some bloatware tasks.  It wasn't set up to autokill anything.  I hadn't done anything yet with Autokiller Memory Optimizer. Whether it might have been running in the background or not at the time of the update, I don't know.  I'll definitely check out System Panel and thanks for the link to it.
As for not giving the update enough time to complete, I let it go to the initial HTC screen-power off-back to HTC screen-power off, for at least six or eight times (probably about 8 minutes) before pulling the battery.  It didn't just sit on the HTC screen for a long time.  If it had, I would have let it cogitate for a while.
Once I receive a replacement phone on Tuesday, I'm sure I'll get a request to do another firmware update, and I'm a little nervous about that after the first crash.  This time I'll definitely stop any app killers beforehand, but are there any other processes I should kill off or watch out for?  This is a total newb question, but If I brick another phone, is there any way I can go to a Verizon store and get things flashed there instead of having to return it to the vendor yet again?  Much as I like this device so far, having to return another phone would really start getting tedious.
Thanks again for your help and advice.
verizon won't ever flash updates, etc. all they ever do is offer replacements, and since you bought it somewhere else, you will likely be stuck going through that vendor. it could just be bad luck. these things have issues sometimes....just like all electronics. if i were you, i would activate your new device when you get it and search for available updates before you customize it and download any apps. after it's activated and up and running, go to menu, settings, software update, check new. it is possible that they will ship you a new tbolt that already has the most recent firmware on it. if not though, and it does show an available update, it is up to you as to whether or not you want to install it. if the phone worked fine without it, i wouldn't. that last update didn't really improve anything on the tbolts that already worked just fine.

i have tried 100 differnt things online and wasted my whole day fiddeling with my phone instead of with my kid

my phone does not turn on

the furthest it gets is to the loading operating system then it restarts at about the 80% mark
i did the update it stalled half way.

    Hello,
From the beginning of your post, I thought there was no hope...but your later words provided hope, but first some clarifications.
    john_scooter wrote:

Actually, the user has control over this. Unfortunately, the default setting is to allow the carrier to push the update out without asking the user. But, the user has always had the ability to turn that off, but of course must have done so.

This is what we understand also, but more with the Z30...I do not recall this affecting the Z10. However, it is your subsequent words, somewhat contradicting this report, that gave me more hope for your situation.

No news here...such is as it has always been. Refer:

While you may be "sick of" it, do understand that in actuality everyone involved is contractually constrained to that support model...including you, for you entered into a contract when you purchased your device and/or subscribed to services from a carrier.

Given that difficult to understand description, I am guessing that you have NOT tried the AutoLoader method. I recommend you do so. You may also want to use the SIC MultiWipe tool to really try and cleanse your device to prepare it for an AutoLoader installation.

  • Z10 Bricked after latest update

After installing the latest update (i think it ended in .4200) my Z10 restarted but has got stuck on the Blue BlackBerry logo screen which tells you the percentage when you press on it.
This happened last week too. after leaving the battery out for a while it eventually restarted, but was a mess, as in it wouldnt make or recieve calls, and had deleted all my texts, and the hub was just a black screen for about three hours. I just started using my old Torch for a few days, but today plugged my Z10 into Blackberry Link to try and sort it out, but it has happened again, getting stuck on the blue logo.
I know people say take the battery out for a while then turn it on but this doesnt work. I have no idea what to do.
I'm sorry i dont know the model number because i cant look at the settings given i cant even get the phone to boot up, but i'm on O2 UK if that helps?
Any information or tips would be really appreciated, thanks.

If it's still stuck after trying this then try an autoload instead, a good write up on how to do it is here.

  • Anyone else's 30gb classic brick after the update?

topic? i've tried resetting my ipod for the past 2 hours to no avail. please help!!

I have to say, the apple store here took real good care of me.
I sat down with the genius and he asked me what happened. I told him I attempted the 1.0.3 to 1.1 firmware update and after I got the 'successful' message and the notification of the iPod restart it never came back up regardless of what I tried. He tried a normal reset himself then said "Ok, hang on a second." About 30 seconds later he walked out of the back room with a brand spanking new iPod for me. He also gave me a set of "Power support" crystal film set, since my ipod had a screen protector on it (worth about $15.00 for the set he gave me.)
All I need to do now is resync when I get to the house.
It was a great expierence for me at the apple store and their customer service.

  • IPhone 3GS unresponsive/bricked after iOS5 Update

First let me start off by saying that I feel Apple is a SUPERIOR company and 99% of the time have excellent things to say about their products. I will, and in this case have once again, continue to buy their products over any other company. That being said....
I updated my iPhone 3GS on 12 Oct 11. When the process was almost completed I received the message that iTunes was unable to continue with activation at this time. I have called customer support numerous times (Case ID: 252118395) and have gone to the Apple store where I live. No one can seem to figure out what happened with the update or my iPhone. I tried reinstalling the OS over 50 times now and receive the same message. I went three days without a phone before I was forced to buy the 4S model. I am a career soldier waiting to deploy and going that long without a phone was unacceptable. All my 3GS has on the screen now is the gray screen saying "iPhone" and different languages scroll across. The last 4 times I have contacted Apple reference this I sit on hold for about 20 minutes and then it just goes to a ringing sound with no answer. This is absolutely unacceptable and I know Apple is a better company than to just keep giving me answers of, "I don't know what's wrong; keep trying; Give it more time." The Apple store manager at the Colorado Springs store told me it was because iOS5 wasn't compatible with the 3GS model; though your website clearly says it is as I told her. I was also told by an "Apple Genius" at the same store my "best friend" in my case was to "Google" it to see about unlocking the phone and reinstalling iOS 4 but she, "Couldn't really tell me that." Of a side note the complete lack of professionalism and "hey bro" attitude at this store was in stark contrast to the professional atmosphere and service excellence that the late Mr. Jobs fostered. All I want is for my old iPhone 3GS to be restored so at least we can use it for an iPod Touch. I have exhausted all attempts to contact Apple. A prompt response would be greatly appreciated as I know you are a much better run company than this and you give no real e-mail link to help out with such matters. Has anyone else had this issue???

    HI All,
My iPhone 3Gs is not detecting any carriers.  I have just upgraded to ios 5.
I have tried my SIM in another phone and it is working OK.  The phone was unlokced by O2 and I have tried an O2 SIM in it which also does not work.
When I manually search for carriers then none are found.
I'm beginning to think this is a hardware fault.
    Any ideas?

  • IPhone 3G 16GB "bricked" after failed update to 2.1

    Hi,
i bought a iPhone 3G with 16 GB in Italy. I unpacked and activated it without any problems. Then iTunes 8.0.1 suggested to upgrade to iPhone OS 2.1. So I did. After over 30 min the upgrade failed with some unknown error (I cannot remember the exact message). When i switch the phone on, the "connect-to-iTunes"-Screen appears and iTunes tells me it has detected a Phone in recovery-mode. I tried over 20 times to repeat the upgrade to 2.1 (with and without the DFU-mode). Every time after about 40min I get an unkown error - 1002. The logfile tells me that a timeout occurred. Here is one of the last lines of the log:
+BBUReturnTimedOut(10)/2: Command receive error, progress 0 of 6+
Here are some more lines of the logfile: http://pastie.org/285491
    What now?

A little guess: BBU = Baseband Unit?
Does anyone has a idea? Please help me! :-/

  • Phone bricked after initial update

Just like the title says. Did the initial update upon receiving my phone today. The update failed. The restore failed. Nothing I have found online to get the phone working has worked. I'd like to say good job apple and verizon for failing before the phone is even released to the general public.
But anyhow, what do I do now?

  • GE60 2OE Bricked after BIOS Update

So I updated the BIOS from 511 to 517 under Windows 8 by executing this command:
    afuwinx64 E16GCIMS.517
It seemed it worked fine, so I rebooted the system, but now it doesnt boot, cant even see the MSI logo (even tho the keys for the fan and keyboard lights work fine).
    What can I do?

So you used the included files and just updated without taking the time to read what the website has?
There are instructions on the website where you download the bios on how to actually update it properly. Most likely the whole reason this happened is because you didn't follow any instructions at all. Even using the batch file included in the download probably would have given better results than this.
    http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_en.pdf
    http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/Win8_UEFI_BIOS_Update_auto_en.pdf
Both of those are very different from the simple process you did.
On top of that, there's also this:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Most likely you will need to contact MSI in order to do an RMA to get it fixed.

  • W540 brick after BIOS update

    Hi all.
I have one month old W540. I received a notice on several recommended updates via Lenovo software, among them a BIOS update. Naivly enough, I accepted to install them all. All was installed successfully, but upon restart, my computer hangs with just a black screen.
When power is pressed, it starts the keyboard light and turns it down. Nothing else.
I tried draining the BIOS battery by removing battery and power and pressing the power button for 1 minute. No change.
There are some threads out there that  explain how to use a crisis recovery disk. However, can someone help with BIOS type? I'd also rather try it with older version on BIOS, but I don't know where I can download from?
I want to try the fix on my own, since I am currently working on a project not near to any service, I'll be here for three weeks more, and I really need my computer.
    Help please!

I should preface this, that I have not done this with a W540, but with other computers.
I'm using BIOS 2.10 which as of today appears to the latest.   Dowload the install version from "Update from a Bootable CD".  If you are a geek, you could in theory make a USB booting disk and install that way.
    >  BIOS Update Bootable CD for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad W540
Then change the BIOS to boot from the DVD/CD Drive (you can immediately hit the clealy labelled <F12> key to start the boot selection menu.
It might by default go to the DVD drive if it cannot find the HD.  Do make sure your computer is connected to the mains.  Just check the light to make sure you are on AC.
Follow the on screen directions, or it might start the BIOS update as a default.  When finished, remove the CD, reboot, and you should be good.  In any event, you will have to reset the BIOS to use the default OS drive. It may work without reseting, as normal BIOS check all drives until it finds a bootable device.  If the bootable device is not the primary choice in the BIOS, it will boot, but there will be a delay.  That can clearly be seen on the HD i/o light as the computer seeks.

  • IPhone5S won't turn on after software update

iPhone5S is bricked after software update.  Apparently this is becoming widespread.  Hello, Apple??????  http://www.techienews.co.uk/976861/apple-ios-7-0-6-update-allegedly-bricks-iphon e-5s-ipad-air/  http://www.thebitbag.com/iphone-5s-and-ipad-air-bricked-by-apple-ios-7-0-6-updat e/70286

    Hey Stheus3,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:

  • ATV2 (720P) Fatal Brick After Update

I attempted to install the ATV 6.0 update yesterday, and encountered the same "brick" issues others here have reported. After the update, the only thing that worked on my ATV was the front panel LED light, as it blinked constantly.
Since I didn't have a micro USB cable handy to connect my device to my Mac, and since I really didn't look forward to fishing behind my A/V cabinet for the power cord, I made an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar, figuring they could fix things quickly and easily......if only this had happened!
My Apple Store tech connected my ATV to his MacBook Air and, after some fiddling, finally got the device to appear in iTunes. He then ran the Restore process, which seemed to go fine until the very end, when it threw an error code on his MacBook. He tried to run the Restore process again, but wasn't able to get my ATV to appear in iTunes. He'd mentioned earlier that if an ATV breaks after the warranty's up, there's a $59 charge to fix it.
Well, after trying everything he could think of, he was never able to get the device to appear in iTunes. So...he excused himself to consult with his manager, and offered to replace my ATV with a new one for $59. I accepted this offer, because I WAS getting an upgrade from 720P to 1080P....but left the store thinking I got "half-screwed" by Apple. I mean, my device was working fine prior to this update, and it was Apple's update that bricked it.
While I was allowed to keep my bricked device, I doubt seriously I'll be able to do anything with it if iTunes can't see it.

I have encounter the same issue with my ATV.  I was hoping to find that Apple was offering FREE replacements since these units were obviously working units to have downloaded their 6.0 software update messed them up. Working ATV 2nd gen are going for $150-200 on ebay because they can be jail broken.  I should have sold it while it was working.
