WRT  110 Cannot get on internet wirelessly -wireless light is on-- on computer  & DLS company can't see my wireless computer router ,I get message cannot connect and a red x . I'm on with ethrnet now but need to get router going again has worked fine for 6 months.  In bed with disability and have to have wireless. I think you need to check and change the Wireless Settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on Wireless MAC Filter
If you have Enable the Wireless MAC Filter on your Router, you need to Disable it and click on Save Settings.
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Once you are done with all the settings on your Router, on your computer click on Start - Control Panel - Network Connections - Right click on your Wireless Network Connections and click on Properties and then click on "Wireless Network" tab and under Preferred Networks you need to remove all the Network Names from the List and click OK...
Now you can try to connect to your Wireless Network.

  • Hp6700 Printer: can't connect to D-Link DI-514 Wireless Router when Broadcast SSID is set to NO.

HP6700 Printer:  can't connect to D-Link DI-514 Wireless Router when Router Broadcast SSID is set to NO. My MAC LapTop and HP LapTop both work with the SSID set to NO. If I change the Wireless Router to Broadcast SSID is YES, then the HP6700 Printer can connect to the Wireless Router. I setup the Printer telling it what the SSID and Password were, the same as both of my LapTops, but it never connects, unless I change the Router to broadcast the SSID. Help!
    This question was solved.

Did you try updating the firmware on the DI-514?
You can also try setting a static IP on the printer, then assign the printer to the static DHCP list in the router interface.
To give your printer a static IP address:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you will have delete and re-add the printer on your Mac.

  • Can't connect to DSL broadband

I've just got myself a Macbook and I can't seem to set it up for my broadband connection. I'm using Homechoice broadband (UK). I assume it is DSL. I was told by the Homechoice support that my Macbook should be able to auto detect the broadband box and hence connect me to the Internet. But it doesn't seem to work.
    Thanks for any advice.

A couple of things to check. First, check that the dsl connection is indeed up and running - here in the states we have to go through a procedure when we first set-up dsl modems (this includes using filters on our regular phones). Find out what the modem/router's address is. It is usually something like 192.168.1.1 (or something 192.168.x.x). Type this into your address bar of Safari while your macbook is connected to modem via ethernet and see if your modem's internal intranet page comes up. If it does then it's not a problem with the connection between your macbook and modem but a set-up problem with your dsl. Secondly, when I had dsl in Italy I remember that I had to click on an application before connecting online - don't know if that's true in the u.k.

  • I can't connect to Facebook, it doesn't even register the site, and I can't even ping it in CMD?

I can't connect to Facebook. I could this morning, but suddenly I can't anymore. It tries to load, and then says "The connection has timed out".
I also can't connect with Internet Explorer. However, I can connect with Firefox, or IE from other computer (Other computer also has other internet provider).
I can connect to any other site on the web, like I am now on Mozzila support.
When I go to run, CMD, and type "ping www.facebook.com" it also says "Request timed out", and 4 packets lost. When I ping it, I get "star.c10r.facebook.com [31.13.64.65]". When I search for that IP i get "Facebook Ireland Ltd".
When I do same ping on my other computer (and other internet provider) he pings "star.c10r.facebook.com [179.60.192.3]" and pings correctly. From that other computer I also can't ping first IP (31.13...), but from first computer (on which I can't go to Facebook site) I can ping second ping (179...) correctly, but I need to type it in manually. When I just type "ping www.facebook.com" it gives me that first IP that doesn't work (31...).
Why does it happen, and why do I get different IP's when I type "ping www.facebook.com"?
Any idea how to fix it?

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
    Check the settings.
Contact your ISP and have them check your service.

  • Can't connect to wireless network from my e2000 router

My network was working fine, then my router turned off spontaneously. The power wasn't lost, everything else in the power strip was still functioning. I got it working again but now I can't connect to the wifi network on any of my devices. I've tried using a Wii, an iPhone 5 and a Mac running OSX 10.7.5
The wired connection works fine. I can see the network on my list, but when I try to access it it reads "Could not join 'network'. A connection timeout occoured."
Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue and fix it? Is it time to go out and buy a new router?

Yes, reset is fine. I do believe firmware upgrade can fix a lot of things.
    I usually use 1, 3, 6, 9, 11 wireless channels for better wireless coverage.
I use inssider software to determine the best wireless channel to use.
I make sure to that cordless phones, microwave ovens and other wireless transmitters are at least 10 meters away from the router. I also updated my wireless devices as much as possible. I think that is the key to my stable network.

  • Silly question, maybe. I want to change from Verizon DSL to cable, but cable company doesn't supply router.  can I use my Airport Extreme as wireless router?

We currently have the following wireless home-network configuration, powered by Verizon DSL.
    2 macbook pro’s
    1 emachine
    HP PhotoSmart 6122 all-in-one printer
    Apple TV
Apple Airport Extreme Base Port A 1408
    Westell 7500 router
Thinking I’d get wider wireless coverage throughout my 2 bedroom home, I purchased the Airport Extreme. It is connected to the router via its sole usb port.  The result was only a tiny increase in speed, and no increase in coverage, so I don’t know why I have it.
We now want to change from DSL to cable, thus ditching Verizon.  Our new cable provider supplies the cable box, but no router for wireless networking.
    Here are my questions.
Can I use the Airport Extreme (AE) as a wireless router?
If so, how should I hook it up?  Should the usb cable go from the AE to the cable box, and all the other devices connect wirelessly?
If not, how should I be using the AE to some advantage?  What can I get out of the investment?
Thank you very much for your help!  Beatriz

What I wrote has nothing to do with what the cable company charges for their installation. And, usually they will help with the router setup even if you supply your own router. I don't know what they will charge for the modem.
Note that you need to get just a modem. You don't want a modem/router combination. That will make using an AEBS effectively nearly impossible. You will need to ask specifically for just a standalone modem, and that you will supply your own router.

  • Can't Connect to our Company Network

Good morning! I'm new to MAC computers so bare with me. I'm using a MAC at work and I'm not able to access the company Network. I've had our IT lady take a look with no luck. Is there anyone out there that can help?

    Hi Lisa,
We'll need more details about your situation to help you. Are you trying to connect wirelessly or through an ethernet cable? Does your network use DHCP?
Does your network administrator have the network MAC-locked (this doesn't refer to Macintosh computers; each device on a network has what's called a MAC address. It's a number that looks like 00-12-34-56-A7-4D and it identifies the device.) If the network is MAC-locked, you'll need to add your computer's MAC address to the list of approved network devices before it will connect. Restricting hardware on a network with a MAC-lock is fairly common in the corporate world.
Please come back with as many details about the situation as you can. Good luck!

  • Can't connect because mail server doesn't support A-POP

A strange little bug is happening with me. Every time I reboot my mac and startup mail, one of my POP accounts fails to connect giving the warning message that my mail server doesn't support A-POP.
After quitting and restarting mail about 5 times it finally kicks in and connects up.
    Anyone else had sim issues?

  • WRT110 Can't connect MAC and PC to wireless network at the same time.

I installed a WRT110 router on my son-in-law's MAC sometime back and at the time configured it to have the MAC connected via Ethernet.  My PC laptop worked fine with it in the wireless mode.  Recently we changed the MAC to wireless newtworking and removed the Ehthernet connection.  Now if the MAC connects to the wireless network first and then I attempt to connect with my PC laptop the PC cannot find the network and the MAC loses connection.  If I shut my PC down the MAC will not find the network until it is put to sleep and reawakened.  If the MAC is put to sleep my PC wil immediately find the network. If I first connect my PC and then awaken the MAC both work fine.  I've checked all of the router's setup settings and they seem to be OK.  I am not MAC savvy and my son-in-law is a neophyte at computers so we are really helpless when something doesn't work.  Help will be appreciated.

I tried this setup change after reading another similar post.  It didn't help.  One thing I had wrong in the first post is that neither computer will connect to the wireless net after we experience the wireless failures until both are turned off, at least that is what happened after making the suggested changes.  Is this a WRT110 issue?  Seems there are quite a few posts similar to mine.

  • Can't connect to my company's wireless network after 10.6

I was connected when I upgraded, but as soon as it restarted I can't re-connect, or I do get connected and it says "No IP Address".
The network is a WPA network. I've removed it from the list of saved networks, deleted the com.apple.airport pref file and rebooted but it is not picking up the settings for the network correctly. When I change them to what I think are correct it still doesn't work.
Also, while in the Network pref pane It added the network as a 802.1x network, but when I click connect it just hangs.
A couple times it has connected but about 10 sec later an "!" appears over the indicator and then it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting.
    Any ideas?

Yup, I am having the same problem, I just assume go back to regular Leapord but that means a clean install and I don't really care to do that. The solutions seem rediculous, just wait and meaybe it will work after an hour? Really? Or restart my router, tried that and nothing. Changed the security to nothing and I still couldn't connect. This is redicuolous, Thanks Apple for your attempts to be like Microsoft and put out a crap product. To me, this is unacceptable. Beta testing should have identified the problem and they should have fixed it before release. Now, apparently, there are a bunch of users who have airport issues. If anyone has a real solution, please provide it, otherwise, Apple needs to get their, you-know-what together and fix the problem asap.

I included a screenshot of the message I get. My settings are correct, I haven't left my country, despite that I've tried changing them anyways but without success, I only get the same message. What gives?

  • E3200 - Can't connect to DSL

Purchased this to replace a WRT54GL Linksys that is starting to act flaky. I needed it right away, or else I would have bought it from Amazon instead of a local wallyworld last night at 10:00PM. The interface is simple and not confusing. It was easy to hook up and get into the menus on my desktop, but was unable to connect to my local DSL through their modem. The online support person manually registered the MAC address with their server, but this router would not grab an IP address from their server. My local DSL uses automatic DHCP and not PPPoE, so that could be the problem. I am guessing that this unit is a new model and needs a firmware upgrade to fix the issue. I spent an hour with my DSL service tech, and about an hour with a Cisco online tech that had me doing things that did not pertain to the actual problem. Be careful. I am going to keep looking. I don't think there is a perfect wireless router out there. By the way, I did notice that my 54G wireless devices were receiving a weaker signal with this router than my old WRT54GL. I was wondering how the wireless would work with out any external antennae. This unit is going back to the local store. My replacement WILL be from Amazon as I will wait for whatever I decide. Have to do some more research.

    UPDATE:
I did a hard reset of the E3200, installed it using Cisco Connect instead of manually, and the unit worked for about 12 hours and would not renew the IP address again from my DSL. Everything looked good on their end and the modem showed being connected. I hooked my WRT54GL up again instead of the E3200 and the WRT54GL connected instantly. Cisco Connect was unable to access the E3200 again on my desktop computer using a Cat 5E cable. I was hopeful that it was going to work, even though the wireless did drop connection with a wireless laptop during the day and I had to reselect the device again. Never had that problem with the WRT54GL. Any help would be appreciated.
