WRT110-EU with D-Link DSL-320T

Hi, I have just bought a Linksys WRT110-EU router, to work with my D-Link DSL-320T ADSL modem. The computer works well with the DSL-320T, but I do not seem to be able to configure the WRT100 to work with it. I am using the EasyLink tool, and I cannot get it past the step of setting up the WAN interface. I guess I am missing something, probably in the configuration of the DSL-320T, but I cannot figure out what to do. The output from ipconfig /all, on current connection (DSL-320T modem only) is below: Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : pcbport1 Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : ualg.pt Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : ualg.pt Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-1B-38-AC-48-DB Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 151.32.20.144 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 193.70.152.15 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : terça-feira, 7 de Outubro de 2008 00:55:05 Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : terça-feira, 7 de Outubro de 2008 00:56:05 Any help will be appreciated

  • Help needed with configuring D-Link DSL-320T

My home network consists of 2 Aiport Express using WDS, 2 PowerBooks and a WiFi HP printer.
I recently had to replace my trusty Aztech DSL modem/router when it died, and bought a D-Link DSL-320T.
This is a DSL modem but NOT ROUTER with a built in DHCP server, but connection behaviour is different from my old device. The IP address for the modem is the default 192.168.1.1
When I connect the modem with an Ethernet cable to the Airport Express, run AirPort Admin Utility and set TCP/IP to configure using DHCP, the IP address of the AE becomes the fixed IP that my ISP has assigned to me, which starts 212.xxx.xxx.xxx. The router address is the same (212.xx.xxx.xxx), and the subnet is 255.255.255.255
With my old modem/router, the AE's IP address would be 192.168.1.2, and then I would use the AE as a wireless bridge, so that the modem would be the DHCP server. All connected Macs and printer would have a 192.168.1.xxx IP address.
With the new modem, I am unable to share the connection unless I use the AE to distribute IP addresses using NAT and DHCP. The AE uses the 10.0.1.xxx range of IP addresses. So my PowerBook has an IP of 10.0.1.xxx
I keep on having to restart the modem as the connection seems to drop on me, to the extent that I cannot even open the modem configuration page by entering 192.168.1.1 into Safari.
My suspicion is that having 2 DHCP servers on the go is not helpful, trying to be on a 192.168.1.x range of addresses as well 10.0.1.x.
I'm not really sure what purpose the modem's DHCP server has, because it does not seem to distribute 192.168.1.x IP addresses, if I configure the AE to be a wireless bridge. As I have said, it is not a modem/router but a modem only. I cannot set up any port forwarding (NAT) instructions. The D-Link manual and website are not very helpful, but it does appear that the correct behavior is for the connected device to display the public (i.e. 212.xxx.xxx.xxx) address. The website does also state that I would need to have separate router to do NAT. I thought that is where the AE comes in...
However if I disable the modem's DHCP server I am not sure what manual settings to configure the AE with.
    Any help much appreciated!

The IP address for the modem is the default
192.168.1.1... The router address is the same
    (212.xx.xxx.xxx)...
This is confusing. Which IP address does your D-Link
    use?
The D-Link uses the IP address 192.168.1.1
Whatever device is plugged into the D-Link, whether PowerBook directly or the AirPort Express, configured using DHCP you get the following in TCP/IP:
    IP address: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
Router: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx (identical numbers to IP address)
    DNS servers: as per ISP
    My
suspicion is that having 2 DHCP servers on the go is
not helpful, trying to be on a 192.168.1.x range of
    addresses as well 10.0.1.x.
There is no inherent problem using 2 DHCP servers.
If I can have both devices acting as DHCP servers, then maybe there is a different explanation for why I lose connection all the time which is only cured by turning the modem on and off again?

  • EA6900 PPPOE problems with D-link DSL-320b

    Hi
I really hope someone can help as I can't seem to find a working answer in the forum yet.
I have a new D-Link DSL-320B modem/router. This works fine as a modem/router, however as I also now have a Linksys EA6900 router I wanted to stop the router part of the D-link so it would just be a modem. I assume this would be a good thing to do, but don't really know why.
I followed instructions to configure the D-Link modem/router as a bridge:
I set the Manual ASDL Connection Setup in Bridge mode '1483 Bridged IP LLC' (note I also tried in the 'Bridged IP VC-Mux' option at a later point), VPI 0 and VCI 38 (as per my ISP instructions), saved the settings and then under the LAN tab I disabled the DHCP Server, saved the settings and lost internet connection (which I expected).
I then attached the D-Link into the WAN port of the EA6900, the computer via ethernet to one of the 4 ethernet ports on the EA6900 and manually set up the EA6900.
Under 'Connectivity'-'Internet Settings' I set up the ipv4 to:
    Connection Type: PPPoE
Username/Password (as provided by my ISP which had previously worked in the D-Link standalone)
    Service name (left blank)
Connection mode: Keep Alive, redial 30 secs
On the right hand side of the page, I set the MTU to manual and size to 1432 (again as per my ISP instructions on setting up routers).
However, after pressing applying, whilst the device is connected to the router, the router is not connected to the internet.
Am I missing something? Should I just leave my DSL D-Link with the ADSL connection and DHCP server enabled and put the EA6900 into Connection Type: automatic configuration -DHCP? as this does give me internet access.
    Please help.
    Many thanks in advance
    Hannah

To isolate the issue I recommend connecting a computer directly to the modem. The create PPPoe connection to test whether or not the Modem is actually bridging as per your ISP instructions. Once you verify that the modem is bridging with your computer transfer those settings to the EA6900. Don't change the MTU from Auto initially. Only change the MTU if you notice you can get to some site and not others. That's typically a sign that there is an MTU issue. Actually for PPPoe the MTU is typically 1492.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Mac Mini with D-Link DSL-2640T

I have a D-Link DSL-2640T and can't get it to connect to my Mac Mini.
I can't switch it (I don't think I can at least) because this is the modem/router that my ISP gave me in order to use their service. If it matters, I am in Dominican Republic right now.
The book for the router says the internal address is 192.168.1.1 and that the default username is admin, password 1234. All I am trying to do is access the router's settings so I can set up the wireless network, so that my Mini can connect to it.
I even Bootcamp-ed Windows XP into my mini to be able to get online, since it seems the router is only windows compatible when wired.
I tried to access the router settings on OS X 10.5 from Firefox and Safari, and then tried again from Windows XP, from Firefox and IE to no avail.
When the box to log in comes up it won't take the default user and pass, and I have already reset the unit a few times (sticking a pointy thing in the little hole on the side).
I don't know what else to do, and my boyfriend is not here He's teaching me well enough, but I'm still learning
Any ideas on anything else I could try?
    Please and thank you :o)

Actually, the book that came with the router doesn't say how to reset, but I did it by holding the reset button for 10 seconds while powered on.
I just ran the Ethernet cable from the router to the Mini, and tried doing the hold for 10 seconds while on, then I tried the one you sent me, turning it off, holding reset, powering on, and still holding reset for 5 seconds more. Waited 30 seconds to access settings and it still won't accept any of the above combinations of username and password.
I tried each reset twice, to make sure.
One thing I haven't tried is looking into the install disk. I installed it on the XP side, but I didn't 'explore' it to see what was in it. Maybe I should do that, too, see if there is a hint anywhere there.
Thanks for trying though, I appreciate it.

tobiasppfunk, Welcome to the discussion area!
You need to configure your AirPort Express (AX) to jion the network provided by your D-Link base station. Use the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

  • Getting TP-LINK TD-W8961ND to work with AT&T DSL

Has anyone got TP-Link TD-W8961ND to work successfully with AT&T DSL? I've tried to use the setup wizard and followed the instructions to a Tee but it won't get past the last screen to verify the configurations. I tried to do it manually but that didn't work either.

If you need to, call the att support folks to get your ATT network password..    totally seperate from your account password. DSL is pretty easy to do, as long as its an ADSL2+ modem. Also, your account name HAS to be in the form:     [email protected]      and you use your netword id password..   NOT your myatt password. other than that, easy peazy.

  • Can Anyone Help Me Configure My Verizon (D-Link) DSL-2750B "Traffic Shaping" (QoS)?

Well ... I just spent a wonderful hour and a half (not) bouncing around VZ technical support, etc. trying to get assistance regarding configuring my DSL router.* Between the low-quality Skype connection to India and my lack of success, I'm a little bummed out right now.
Could one of you perhaps help me? I'm trying to configure a single, wire-attached network node (port 4 of the router) so that it can only consume up to 320 Kbps of my 750 Kbps (7.5 Mbps) DSL bandwidth ... no matter what. This results from this node consuming virtually all of the circuit's bandwidth when streaming or during bulk file transfers.
I have tried to remedy the problem using priority with no discernible impact.
The Quality of Service (QoS) element called Traffic Shaping (Services | QoS | Traffic Shaping), described on Page 51 of the VZ DSL-2750B User Manual , appears to be the ideal solution to my problem. Repeated attempts at activating this QoS have all resulted in no throttling of bandwidth consumption.
My most recent attempt was to define the device on Port 4 as the DMZ host ... and then apply a new rule (320 TX, 320 RX) to this interface. Again, no joy.
Does anyone have any experience with this service on this router?
Am I chasing my tail trying to configure the router without validating that my circuit is not configured with "Fastpath (PSE) inactive"?
If the circuit configuration is a potential problem, which office should I ask for at VZ customer service?
Here is the information from the System page of the Router Control Panel:
      Gateway ID: PX2M1BC000000
      Software Version: 5.4.12.1.44
      Release Date: Feb 19 2012
      Platform: D-Link DSL-2750B
      Board Tag:... Ntag-5_4_12_1_44
      Compilation Flags:... LIC=/home/bat/bat/dlink_bcm96328_5_4_12_1/20120219_1343/conf/jpkg_bcm9636x_dlink.lic CONFIG_RG_PROD_IMG=y DIST=DLINK_DSL2750B
I'll note that the Router provides a notification that "RX QOS might not operate when Fastpath (PSE) is active" when I update the router configuration page concerning Traffic Shaping. Because Fastpath is not mentioned in the User Manual, I'm guessing that Fastpath (PSE) might be a configurable attribute of the circuit servicing my PoP, but I have no idea if this is the case.
I searched for relevant messages on this board ... without success. If this has already been addressed, please provide a link, and accept my apologies. (My Google-Fu tends to be weak.)

The asterisk in the first post refers to the following summary of events:
10:40 - Attempt to solve my configuration question using VZ chat begins.
10:49 - VZ chat agent Danish refers me to phone support.  (Chat ID number is 020813176471 if you're with VZ and are interested.)
10:50 - Call VZ phone support.
11:02 - Talk with Angel.  Because she has not heard of, nor received training in, "traffic shaping," she says my question about configuring this VZ DSL modem must be addressed by "Premium Technical Support."  She transfers me.
11:13 - Talk with Pamela.  Premium Technical Support only responds to questions about 3d party products.  Because my question concerns a VZ DSL modem, Basic Technical Support is responsible.  She transfers me.
11:17 - Talk with Joe.  He says either the vendor (D-Link) or premium technical support is required.  Because I had already tried with D-Link (they referred me to Verizon, as this modem was built exclusively for VZ), I explained what I had already experienced, and described how I wanted "assistance configuring my VZ DSL modem, specifically a feature described on page 51 of the User Manual."  He transfers me.
11:23 - The automated phone system asks for my 12-digit customer ID.  I wasn't able to find it fast enough, and rolled through to Financial Services.  Eventually Trig picked up, listened to my story, and transferred me to "Technical Support" providing the direct dial number, just in case (866.945.79xx).
11:32 - Entered the phone queue.  Lots of hissing and clicks.
11:35 - Talk with Monika.  (The voice clarity from this point onward was on the order of 1st-generation Skype.  Between the horrible language problem -- Monika is in India don'cha know -- and the lousy line quality, this was the most frustrating.)  No matter what I said, I couldn't convey the reason for my call.  I asked to talk with a supervisor, which Monika related was not possible.  She also related that she could not transfer me to an American POC or supervisor.
12:01 - Hung up the phone ... and started down the path that led to my post immediately above.
I was repeatedly queried about the account name and number throughout the process.  Conveying this information was especially challenging during the Indian call segment.

  • Configuration of WPA on D-link DSL-604T

I'm using my Mac BookPro to configure my new modem (D-Link DSL-604T)and it all works fine, but when i try to set WPA it won't save the changes. I've followed the instructions to the letter, do i have to use a PC to configure it. As it is at the moment anyone can connect to my wireless network without entering a password, so i have to disable my wireless connection. I must be missing something simple here, I have reset the router a couple of times and started from scratch. As i've stated it all works fine except for setting WPA incription. Any help would be great.

Sure wish I could do same I can configure the router to a point. To reboot I have to go though the wisard and as i said in my post when I try to set a password in WPA, I click on the green "save Button" then the password I typed in disapears. But when i use a windows with IE it all works, so i don't know what the issue is with my Mac I must have something turned on that i shouldn't.
Anyway thanks for letting me know your experience it sure would be nice to not have to use a windows machine to do some of the config.

  • Macbook Pro Problems with D-Link Router

My router D-link (Dl-624+A, model available in Asia) 802.11g/2.4 Ghz wireless router serves a G5 iMac, a G4 Aluminum Powerbook plus a Windows laptop and desktop. We have never experienced any problems with the network.
I have recently bought a 17" Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz laptop (intel MBP) and have not been able, in any combination of modes, to join the network. A dialogue box simply says that there was an error trying to join the network.
I have no problems joining other wireless networks around town its so easy, just the one at home is the problem.
What is going on? Is there a fix? Thanks

Hi, my MacBook Pro can't connect to my D-Link DSL-G604T router via wireless too.
Airport can see my wireless connection and asks for the WEP password to connect. I put the password key in and an error pops up saying it cannot connect. I can connect via an Ethernet cable. Also, my previous system PowerBook G4 is able to connect via to the router via wireless, hence there is nothing wrong with my network.
Based on the suggestions from other threads, I tried to set my security to WPA instead of WEP. However, after I set my security to WPA, and tried to connect to my wireless network, the AirPort popup only gives me 4 options for the Wireless Security:
    WEP Password
    WEP 40/128-bit hex
    WEP 40/128-bit ASCII
    LEAP
There isn't an option to use WPA. Can anyone advise?

  • How to get online apps to work with the Verizon DSL modem firewall set at "Medium" level, not "Low?"

How to get online apps to work with the Verizon DSL modem firewall set at “Medium” level? Xbox 360 Live, FTP, and the Windows sntp Time checker native to Windows XP WON’T WORK unless the Verizon firewall is first reset down to “Low.” Then all works well, but I then risk low firewall protection. Setup: · Westell 6100 DSL modem (Software Version: VER:4.04.03.00 Transceiver Revision: 7.2.3.0 Model Name: C90-610015-06), · D-Link DIR-655 wireless router (Hardware Version: A3, Firmware Version: 1.21), For Xbox 360 Live the “canned” port forwarding rule for provided in Verizon’s drop-down list for the Westell 6100 modem forwards ports 88 and 3074 for both TCP and UDP. This does not meet Microsoft’s forwarding recommendations for Xbox 360 Live stated at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874. Instead, for the Verizon modem (Westell) I made a new port forwarding rule to comply with those Microsoft instructions. It forwards ports 53, 80 and 3074 for TCP and ports 53, 88 and 3074 for UDP. These same ports are also forwarded in the D-Link router configuration. For FTP, port 21 is also forwarded for TCP and UDP in both modem and router. But they don’t work until I first cripple the Verizon firewall down to “Low.” How to get them to work with the Verizon firewall up to Medium?

While I do not know the answer to your question, BUT since you have this modem and another router - you could just follow.

  • D-Link DSL-2740B W'less-N Modem Router: Underwhelming & BTMM not supported

I recently purchased the D-Link DSL-2740B Wireless-N Modem Router, hoping to be blown away by the new N-protocol for Wireless, carefully ensuring that UPnP was supported (on the box) before spending my money, (in order to use Back to my Mac). Sadly not only was I underwhelmed by the unnoticeable difference in wireless range and speed, but with UPnP dutifully enabled, Back to my Mac simply would not work. No amount of calling Tech support or fiddling with settings made any difference.
Also the setup CDROM was only PC-compatible, so you have to use a web browser interface to setup, but only after you've worked out what the setup screen's IP address is from the sketchy B&W install manual.
I would conclude that zero thought at D-Link has gone into making this hardware a tool for the 12% and rapidly growing pool of Mac users. If you have a Mac, do not buy. Any differing experiences with this hardware?
Message was edited by: Mac Packer

I just had the wonderful experience of buying a new D-link modem router with the intention of being able to use Back to My Mac. No such luck. I enabled UpNP and NAT, but the machine always came up with a fault regarding the NAT or UpNP with the router. Finally, I emailed D-link (I bought the new device on Friday, and D-link won't be at work over the weekend) after tearing my hair out for two days. Their response? The BRAND NEW modem router doesn't work with Back to My Mac. See the actual response below.
"The service “Back To My Mac” will not currently work with the DSL-G604T. It is being looked into, though is not a high priority.
There are other alternatives which can be used for remote viewing of Apple Mac machines over the Interent, from Remote locations."
Well, how's that for support? No mention of an alternative product in their range. Maybe they don't want to sell equipment to Mac users?

  • Creating a link with the Link Tool

I used the Link Tool to create a Link in my pdf file.  The link is set to open a website file.  I created 2, one with just a little text and the other was a picture that was 200 X 300 px.  When I follow the links, each is opening a full web page.  I expected that with the Text link because I put the text on an html page but the picture I sized to the 200X300 but that opened a full web page also.  When setting up the link to the Web File I did not see an additional settings as far as how to open the web page such as _parent or _child etc.  I believe it is normally the Target.
Does anyone know how I would either do this with the link tool or know of a better way to do it overall?
    Thanks
    Bob

    Hi,
You may be confusing HTML markup for links with PDF links.
In PDF, HTML markup is not applicable.
So "target_xxxx" or any other HTML 'stuff' cannot be used.
For the graphic file (JPG, PNG, whatever), make a web page file that is configured to display the graphic file in a manner you desire.
The web link you set in the PDF, with Acrobat, will result in this web page file opening.
This is the file that will control how the graphic is rendered.
If needed, a resource for HTML "how to" is W3 Schools.
    Be well...
