WRT110 router and D-Link notebook adapter

I am so totally lost setting up my network. I have the WRT110 set up on my desktop PC and that works perfectly. On my laptop, however, I cannot get online. I have found instructions on this website for setting up a network, but no go. I show that I have good signal strength, but cannot get online. I have absolutely no idea how to fix this. Can anyone help me?

Check on the Laptop ... if you are getting signals from router or not ...
If so then try to connect to it .... once connected check the IP address DOS window  .... if getting IP - 192.168.1.X ..... try to ping the Gateway address 192.168.1.1 ....& see the replies ...
Let me know how far it works ....

  • WRT54GL Router and HP Wireless Notebook

I have a Linksys WRT54GL router with v4.30.5 firmware and a SpeedStream 5360 modem with SBC Yahoo! DSL. My desktop is connected directly to the router and the internet works fine. I can connect to my wireless network on my HP wireless notebook with an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG network adapter, but I can't connect to the internet. It sends packets, but hardly receives any (about 5 per minute). Windows Automatic Updates works fine, when I update the received packets increases, but I still cannot browse the internet. Even when I try a wired connection I get the same results, packets sent but few received. I've tried resetting the modem, and router, and repairing my adapter with no success. Thanks for any help.

    Change the following settings
    ssid-"yourname"
    channel=11
    beacon interval =50
RTS and Fragmentation threshold (default value) -40
the last 3 options are found under advanced wireless settings .
then restart ur wireless PC and re-connect to the wireless network.
if u have issues even after these settings....verify that u have the latest firmware
also u may need to change the power management option for your intel wireless pro NIC.
to do so....u need to go to the advanced properties of the Intel......under the "property" column...select "power management" and change the value to "highest"
in case u have any confusion....call tech support...n tell them what u wanna do....
my experience with linksys tech has been good so far

  • Problems with Wireless Router and Adapter

I tried posting this in the wireless adapter forum but nobody responded :-(
    I'm using a WRT54G Router btw, and the firmware is v2.02.7, Feb. 27, 2004.
    Hi everyone,
I have a Linksys Wireless G Router and several computers that I try to connect with. One of them is a computer running Windows XP and using a Linksys Wireless USB B Adapter (WUSB11). Another is a laptop running Mandriva Linux using a Linksys Instant Wireless Network PC Card (WPC11). Another one is running Windows Vista and using a Linksys Wireless N card. I also have a laptop running Windows XP using a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (WPC54G).  I also have another PC running Windows XP and uses a Linksys Wireless USB Adapter WUSB54G. Finally, I have two macintosh laptops running OSX and with airport devices installed.
Anyway, I have problems with my internet connection frequently being interrupted and even sometimes I won't have a connection at all for hours. This occurs with my Linux laptop, the PC with the Wireless B Adapter, and the laptop using the Wireless G Notebook Adapter. In addition to this, the macintosh laptops have internet even more infrequently. However, I seem to never have a problem with the Windows Vista desktop or the Windows XP desktop that has the Wireless G adapter. I try repairing the connection and often it does not work. I have also tried resetting the router and the cable modem. I'm not sure what else I can do. I even bought a Wireless N router and had little success with that. We even went as far as moving the wireless router upstairs into our living room, thinking that the signal was somehow suffering from interference or that distance was a factor. Anyway, sorry for the long post but I could really use some help!
    Thanks.

Hi… logon to wireless N router’s setup page, open I.E. an in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it would ask for username and password, put "admin" as a paassword (default password) without any username...linksys setup pops up, click on on wireless tab and and try changing radio band to wide 40MHz, wide channel to 9 and wireless standard channel to 1 or 11, go to advanced wireless settings reduce beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, change N Transmission rate to 270 MBps…also try upgrading latest firmware on router, check whether it makes any difference or not and let me know.

  • Switching between Dell 4K display and Apple Mini DisplayPort To Dual-Link DVI Adapter

    Hi All,
I've recently upgraded my home setup to a Dell 4K display (Dell P2815Q), which since the 10.9.3 update work as expected.
However the downside is that my office setup uses a Mini displayport to Dual-Link DVI adapter (Firmware version 1.03) and a Dell 30" display (2560x1600), which will not work without a reboot after using the 4K display. If I use the 4K display after using the Dual-Link DVI adapter it works fine.
Is this a know issue ? If not, I'm happy to provide some more diagnostic information to help resolve the issue.

    http://www.everymac.com/ says:
*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single 1080p display at up to 60 Hz, 3840x2160 at 30 Hz, or 4096x2160 at 24 Hz via HDMI.
DVI is not mentioned at all.  You probably need to connect to the display via HDMI to get the 4096x2160 resolution.

  • TS3232 I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have screen flickering issues

I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have massive screen flickering issues on a Mac Mini 2012.
I am using a Dell 30" monitor (it's the Samsung screen just rebranded) connected to a WD 4TB Thunderbolt drive connected to the Mac Mini.
The screen is usable for the most part when I've just started the computer (although today I started having issues after a fresh restart) but if even just the screen goes to sleep, or the computer goes to sleep and I wake it later, I start to have massive flickering to black and occasionally to snow.
The effect seems to be more likely to arise when I'm on heavy graphics-intensive websites or programs (eg, Tumblr feed with lots of GIF images or working in Adobe Premiere), but once it starts shutting down those programs has no effect, the screen keeps flickering wildly.
The problem improved after the 1.03 firmware upgrade (for a while it was flickering uncontrollably ALL the time and was virtually unusable) but it has not gone away.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, either for how to fix this issue or how to get Apple to, you know, let me TELL THEM that their adapter firmware fix has NOT solved the issue, since my phone support has expired. :/

I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro.  Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03.  I've never had flickering issues, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back.  when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection.  But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac.  This may be a separate issue, so I'll also post it standalone...

    Hello,
    From the news page here...
    http://xlr8yourmac.com/
See if it's related to this...
It also seems to be related to later OSX versions, like 10.8.x & 10.9.x
The 2012 macs (and later apparently) (also later OSX versions on earlier Macs can do it also), not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

  • Have a D-Link DIR-655 Wireless Router and Having WEP or WPA issues? READ TH

I just contacted D-Link with the following Letter and wanted to post this here for anyone that may need it:
"I have to say that I do truly enjoy this product since I got it to work, but I have some things to clear up.
Are your Level 1 techs truly trained in networking equipment? I called 3 times for help with this issue and no one was able to help me nor completely understand my problem... I apologize for the tone, but it is frustrating when a tech repeats a procedure 4 times (I can understand repeating something 2 times if needed) - when I tell him it doesn't work I feel we should move onto another trouble shooting step. So what I would like to do is tell you what I did to fix the issue in case another person runs into this and they call you for support.
I have a an iMac (but this problem will be reproduced on any Mac with an Airport Extreme card) and I can only get on the internet wireleslly because of the location of my computer and the cable modem/router.
The DIR-655 that I picked up from best buy was Hardware Revision A2 and the Firmware was 1.05 (the latest at this current time)...
If I setup this router with the default settings. The wireless connectivity worked fine - although if I were to apply any type of security to the wireless settings (WEP, WPA 1 or 2 Personal) I would not be able to join the network. The Mac OS would keep telling me that there was an error joining the "xxxxxx" network (where xxxxxx was the SSID of my router). Anyways after tinkering for almost 3 hours and running back and forth resetting the router and testing with multiple Macs I was stumped and decided to get a copy of the 1.04 version of the firmware and downgrade the router back down to see if it was an issue with the latest firmware. Guess what - works perfect...
I would love to see a version 1.06 come out soon that addresses this issue and has the bug fixes from 1.05. But I can guarantee you there is something in the 1.05 firmware that will stop Macs from wirelessly connecting to the router when any type of wireless security is in place.
Please advise your techs of this issues and hopefully come up with a fix for this issue.
    Thank you for your time."
I hate when tech support eats half your day with something that could have been fixed in minutes if people are properly trained.

  • Having Trouble Connecting To Xbox Live using my router and wireless adapter.

Okay, so this is kinda long but I'll try and speed through. Recently I moved from my old place to a newer place (larger) and before, my old spot worked perfectly, no troubles. Now, eversince i got my internet cable service re-hooked up I've had problems. My internet is fine, that's not the problem. It's my xbox live for my 360. My cable guy pretty much set up my living room with the main router and not my studio office which I keep my 360 in. Instead he told me it would be much easier to just go out and buy a wireless adapter for my PC to recieve the signal from my living room off the main family computer. Well, went out and bought a $80.00 wireless adapter top of the line and it works perfectly, I get the internet really fast. Problem is, my 360 will not connect now. It always says DNS failed. Well here's the problem. I have a Linksys router in my studio office that sits on top of my PC that i have connected to the ethernet of my PC, then in the 2nd or 1st port i have my 360ethernet wire connected to my xbox360. Still it says DNS failed. Shouldn't my router be getting the signal from my Wireless adapter that it's receiving from the living room? It's connected through the same computer yet it doesnt connect. It finds my I address, and it finds the network adapter yet it always fails my DNS. I've tried evern switching the xbox360 ethernet to the main ethernet port on my pc and that just makes me fail the IP address test. I need help guys. My wireless adapter for the pc is a Belkin but my router is a linksys and not sure if the 360 just doesnt recognize it or not. Is there settings I'm missing or something? Please help!!!
    The Burninator...

On your 360 if u getting an error msg DNS failed, you can login to your router setup page and go to status tab, not the Static DNS1 and DNS2 numbers and u can give a static dns to your 360. its will resolve ur issue.

You need the Airport card OR Airport Express but not both.  Considering the age of your machine, I recommend Airport Express as you will find other uses for it whenever you replace the eMac.
To set up the AE, you do need OSX 10.4 or higher.

  • BT Softphone and D-Link 2740B router problem

Has anyone managed to work out how to set up a D-Link 2740B router so that BT Softphone will work?
The best help I can get from BT INDIA is change the baud to 5060, what ever that means?
I am not a techie, so any help in a simple step by step fashion would be most welcome.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

no thats no what i thinking about... i dont want to connect any devices as handsets ect to my laptop, laptop must be free as is now if this router have VOIP in the lastest firmware i think i can connect router to my bt broadband line then standard handset to the router and thats it. From the router level set the voip softphone internet telephony connection for this handset and thats it.... then if I will need another standard landline handset then simply connect it straight to the bt line... thats my vision....no devices connected to my computer its not working that way
If you already have bt home hub its working away from your computer so only one reason to change router is to do it in the same way as BT.... as BT have rubbish routers and with more than one laptop in the home network just cut the connecton this making me mad.....

  • Any speed difference between Apple Wifi Router(air express) and Tp link(or others) wifi router)

Any speed difference between Apple Wifi Router(air express) and Tp link(or others) wifi router?
I'm using a tp link router and sometimes it takes a long time delay for my 2 mac computers to connect each other. I don't know this is because of the router compability or the computers.

    Anyone knows?

  • Express and eMac with D-Link USB Adapter

I went down to my local Apple Centre to get an Airport Card for my eMac (700mhz). He said they didn't have any but recommended I buy a D-Link USB Adapter (802.11g/2.4ghz wireless) to connect to the Internet via Airport Express. But I can't get the Mac to recognise it - when I use the Airport Assistant it says I have to connect via Ethernet as there is no Airport card Installed. Any ideas where I can find a step-by-step installation guide? Or any help here would be great!
    Thanks
    Ben

BenCollison, Welcome to the discussion area!
Unfortunately the drivers required for these USB wireless adapters frequently don't work well with Mac OS X. Many people never get them to work properly. Some people find the magical combination and get them to work.
The best solution is the correct AirPort card.
The next best solution is an Ethernet wireless adapter. These require no drivers and therefore work with any Ethernet device. Examples of Ethernet wireless adapters are the Linksys WET11, Linksys WET54G, and the Buffalo Technology WLI-TX4-G54HP bridge.

  • WRT54G Router and WUSB54G Adapter Lost Installation CD-Roms

A former student gave me a WRT54G Router and WUSB54G Adapter. However, he lost the installation CD-ROMs. Will I have to buy new hardware or are there other legal options? I look forward to any help I can get since this is my first attempt at setting up a wireless network at home. Thanks in advance. Outhouse2005

in order to install the router you can get an autoconfig tool on www.linksys.com/easy .. for the adapter , you can find the latest drivers on www.linksys.com/download

  • MacBook Air and D-link router

    Hi!
I do need help, guys. Seriously.
I have a brand new MacBook Air and love it. Sadly, I couldn't get it connected to the Internet.
    My network is like this:
Telephone service provider   -------   Modem   -------   Dlink router   -------   PC
The only wireless connection is the one between the router and the PC.
Then, when I want to get connected with my PC, that's what I do:
    1.     My PC connects to the wi-fi network provided by the router
    2.     Then, my PC connects to the modem
    And I'm online.
The problem is I cannot do this with my MacBook. My Macbook is able to connect to the wi-fi network, but I don't know how to get it connected to the router.
(I've ruled out it's a problem of my Macbook, because it happens so with my sister's.)
Do you know if a can configure my Macbook to make the missing connection, so I can get online?
    (My router is a D-link DIR-300)
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thank you.

However, either way I find the drive it shows only about 200mb available
    It has the wrong format.
It probably should be FAT32 or NTFS.. both difficult.
I wanted to use this to backup with time machine.
You cannot do it. .the DIR-645 is not time machine compatible. The device has to support AFP and at least some way to setup a sparsebundle in HFS+ format.. which is the only format that will work. CCC might work.. it does on most formats.
