WRT110N Cannot Browse Network PCs after restart

I was able to browse Network PCs from XP [somehow cannot do so when in Vista - to browse XP PCs]. Now after restart I cannot browse any network pcs. I had hard reset the WRT`110 and disable all firewalls from all pcs and no antivirus running. What am I missing? It says unable to browse PC due to service not being started etc... and restarted it ..... still no go. This is from XP to Vista. I pressed the little reset button on the back of this. Strangely when transferring files between pcs 2 hrs ago was quite slow... any way to speed this up?

Lonny,
Which version of RV042 do you have? Have you check to see if you are on the latest OS code?
Firmware
http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=282414010&softwareid=282465789&release=4.0.4.02-tm&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest
Now check the release notes of the code you are running- this is to verify that it’s not a known issue.

Have you tried different PC operating systems?
I haven’t seen any cases come though the support center with this error. You can give us a call @ 1-866-606-1866 if you would like us to take a look at your configuration.
Hope this helps,

  • Networked computer will not join network automatically after restart/sleep

    Situation:
I've got two computers - PowerBook 17" 1,25 GHz, iMac 2,16 GHz 24", both running OS X 10.4.8. They are networked via AirPort Express, firmware v. 6.3, in a WPA protected network. The AirPort distributes ADSL 4 Mbps connection.
Computers are set as DHCP with manual address (to keep stable LAN address)
The problem: While the PowerBook always joins the network after restart/sleep automatically, iMac in such a situation never goes online - the airport status in menu bar is on, the network is checked, but it cannot connect or be reached.
I always have to manually turn airport of from menu bar, then turn it on, then wait about 20 seconds and then manually choose name of my network.
After this procedure iMac is finally online.
    Settings of the AirPort are:
    AirPort tab
    Wireless Security: WPA2 personal
    Channel: Automatic
    Mode: 802/11 g/b
    Internet tab
    Connecting using: Ethernet
    Configure: Using DHCP
    WAN ethernet port: Automatic
    Network tab
Distribute IP address unchecked (no difference when checked - tested)
Any idea how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance!
    PowerBook 1,25 17", iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks a bunch, Duane!
You pointed me to the exact answer.
iMac joins the network automatically now, although I had to change original automatic login of an admin user to manual login page, because after automatic login as one of three users, an error message "Network error" appeared quicker than the actual joining the network, that came a few seconds later.
After manual logging (it probably needed a little more time) it's OK.
Thanks again and greeting from Czech Republic!

  • Cannot start stopped servers, after restarting the SIA all stopped working

All was working ok, but suddenly I could not run reports from Infoview nor from the Central Managment Console.  Nontheless, I was able to log in to both (just not run the reports).  From the CMC, I noticed that 5 servers had stopped running, but remained enabled.  I tried starting/restarting each of them from CMC, but had no response.  I then looked at the properties for each of these servers and noticed the same message in red stating "The Server Intelligence Agent for this server is unavailable".  I then went to the Central Configuration Manager at the server where Crystal Reports Server 2008 is installed and launched the Server Manager tool which showed a list of servers.  From here, I looked at the Server Intelligence Agent properties and when I clicked on the configuration tab, it asked for me to select from a list of radio buttons of which connection type (if remember correctly) to use...there was no cancel or close option to back out of this, so I randomly chose the oracle type (which is what or ERP system uses as a backend), then was forced to save the changes.  Nonetheless, this did not seem to have any effect then, I still had the same problem/issue stated above.  I then, following a suggestion, restarted the Server Intelligence Agent.  Unfortunately, right after this restart all the servers disappeared from the list of servers in the CCM.  In addition, now I can't even login to any of the tools (CMC, Infoview,...) the only place I still can launch is the CCM; however, I cannot access the Server Manager tool in CMC.  After entering my credentials, it idles for hours with no response).  I'm stock with no way to do any further work...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw something similiar once when using SAP authentication(you didn't mention which auth model you are using).
If the license you installed was a named user (vs. concurrent user) and you picked the opposite setting in the CMC Authentication section, then you won't be able to login.

  • Unable to browse network shares after installing Time Capsule

After installing my time capsule I am no longer able to browse the other computers on my network. I can ping them just fine but when I try to see them under "shared" or to brows to the ip address, it doesn't display the other computers. It sees the Time capsule just fine. The other computers are hooked up to the time capsule as well. One Computer is windows XP based and the other is Windows Vista. When I boot into my Windows XP (via boot camp) the other computers show up just fine and I'm able to touch the shared files. Its just the mac side that is not seeing them. They are all connected via ethernet cable connection. I appreciate any help to solving this. Thanks.

Make sure that the shares are unmounted before you sleep and see if it makes a difference. Not that it's a fix, just curious on how it reacts to see what could be going on.
Another good piece of information to get is to open Terminal and do a 'df'. See if you have any volumes mounted. They'll look like //Username@IP/Share and mounted to /Volumes/Sharename or /Volumes/Sharename-XX.
Try a 'sudo umount /Volumes/Sharename' and see if it gives you any errors back or dismounts it cleanly.

BTW, there is a tool provided with OATS (Database Configuration Tool) allowing you to review/reconnect to the database. I didn't think about it at first but this is a good idea to try that one next one you (or someone else) faces the problem.

  • MAX cannot browse network

I guess this is more of a suggestion than a question. I have a server application (Lookout) and 6 client nodes each running Lookout's Free Client software. I have a push button on an annunciator screen that launches MAX to allow operators to fiew historical data, however, when MAX is launched on one of the client nodes, there is no data to view since the client application has no database. This is understandable, but I cannot route MAX through the network in order to historically view data within the server. I have been recently informed by NI Tech Support that this function is not available. So....... why is it that in the second step of "Create new Historical data" does it ask you to enter a computer name and plainly states "Chose the location f
or this database. This will be the computer where the database is located."? I can browse the network and select another PC but it will not browse the files. Also, if MAX is installed on a Free Client machine, the "Create New" option is not even there. MAX could be a great tool, but is rendered nearly useless because it is only available on the Server PC. This defies the whole Lookout server/client structure. Is this going to be fixed? Soon?

    Carl,
Yes you can browse for the computer name from MAX. However we can't get the directory structure, from the remote computer. However you can make it simple for yourself by placing the directory in a easy location such as c:\database.
The historical data viewer is part of the free lookout client. So not only would you not have the Create New option you would also not have the Historical Data section in MAX. You can still view the data in Lookout on the client. However it does make sense to be able to view the data in MAX on a client installation, so I will pass on the suggestion.

  • 2008 r2 hyper-v guest with static IP always looses network connectivity after every restart - no problem with DHCP

    Hello,
We are running 2008 R2 domain with one physical DC and other running in VM on Hyper-V host (2008 R2 Standard). The host has 4 NICs and is configured to use one physical NIC for itself (management) and the hyper-v guest is configured to use another dedicated/physical
NIC (through microsoft virtual switch) just for itself.
I noticed that after setting the hyper-v guest with a static IP address all works fine only until guest restart. When the guest boots up the IP address is still configured correctly in IPv4 properties, but there is no network connectivity at all and in fact
the guest shows running APIPA config in ipconfig /all output. That situation continues until I remove the virtual NIC from hyper-v guest, remove the virtual switch from dedicated NIC on host and then reconfigure it (using same settings as they were). very
    annoying.
For time being I switched the virtual DC (problematic hyper-v guest) to a DHCP IP and configured DHCP server (running on physical DC machine, not on hyper-v host) to store a reservation for the hyper-v guest so it always gets the same "static"
    IP configuration.
Is there some kind of a problem/bug with using static IP on (2008 R2) hyper-v guests? is there a hotfix for static IP config in hyper-v guest environment?
both 2008 R2 OSes (host and guest) are up to date with all updates (synced with Microsoft, not WSUS).

OK, I'm not at the office now, but took my time to test out the restart scenarios on problematic virtual guest remotely.
No dice, same as it was, everything works fine after guest has IP configured in DHCP mode (IP reservation of 192.168.1.5 for specific MAC address) and it doesn't work after restart in static IP mode (same address, works before restart of guest).
I also took "arp -a" outputs at each step from host server and that was always saying there is only a single host (192.168.1.5 = VDC = problematic virtual guest) assigned to that IP address and always with same MAC, so that pretty much rules out
ARP/MAC troubles and no issues with switches/routers getting spoofed. Problem is most likely with the virtual guest (WS2008R2) or within the host running same OS.
    Here are outputs:

On Monday I will install more test guests in Hyper-V host (WS2008R2), in variety of flavors like 7x64, 8.1x64, ws2012r2, and see if they show similar problems with static IP configuration when utilizing a dedicated NIC from host server.
Don't get me wrong, I can live with virtual DC running on DHCP IP reservation (which is based on MAC), because the virtual DC pretty much requires a physical PDC (hosting also DHCP in my network) to be present for safety reasons ... however I prefer a static
IP configuration on all servers, hence my question and surprise why it doesn't work.

This method usually helps me with problems with my Airport Extreme and Express (this happens seldom by the way). The only disadvantage is that you have to set it up again completely.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    If the issue persists...
