Wrt120n resetting doesn't work

Putting this router back in service, I reset (10 and 30 sec hold) until lights flashed. Unplugged it. Came back and connected to computer. Used default u/n = blank and p/w = admin -- doesn't work, can't get to control screen. Tried various combinations and still won't work. How do I get router to respond? Tech support won't help.

Login through FF wouldn't work do matter how my settings are. MSIE login worked first time. "To reset this, unplug the modem and plug it back in again" Did this many times. "What I usually have to do is connect a computer straight to the modem to get the modem to register its MAC address. " Did that too. "Then when that is connected to the internet, I connect up the WRT120N to the modem and clone the MAC address to match the computer MAC address." Not sure how this is done. But I never had to do this when shifting routers around lots of different installations -- more than 10, anyway. I just plugged the router into the modem, rebooted the modem, and everything worked. But that was using Netgear and other brands. This is the first Linksys I've tried, and I'm not real happy about it! Especially with the **bleep** the setup program put on my computer -- two services and four installed programs, and a desktop item that couldn't be removed. Took about 15 minutes to figure out where it put everything and another 10 to uninstall it all.

  • Microphone on iPad 3 stopped working.reset doesn't work

    HEllo,
Can anyone help me in regards to the microphone on ipad3? It was working fine yesterday but today it doesn't work. I tried resetting by holding the home and power button, restored original settings and nothing. Anyone had this problem? What do I do?

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

  • Iphone 5 won't turn on. Reset doesn't work either.

    Hi All,
My Dad's having an issue with his iPhone 5. The cellphone won't turn on. This happened after he turned it off one day.
He's tried pressing home button and power button, but that doesn't work either. He believes that the phone has too little free memory for iOS to boot.
So we are just wondering if there is a way he can backup the photos/contacts in that case?
I am just wondering if you have any insights?
    Thanks,
    Di

Having the phone refuse to turn on is a symptom of a completely drained battery. Connect the phone to the charger that came with it and connect that to a good wall outlet. Wait at least 30 minutes then reset the phone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is at 100%. If the phone does not restart Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • IPod touch won't turn on, charge, iTunes doesn't recognize it, and the hard reset doesn't work

My iPod touch 5th gen died so I put in it the charger. Now even the dead battery screen doesn't come on. iTunes will not recognize it, The hard reset won't work, recovery mode doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Aiport Express dead? Yellow light one, reset doesn't work...

    Hello
My Airport Express stopped working a few days ago. I just shows a constant yellow light, resets (incl factory reset) don't work and I can't see it with Airport Utility.
    Any ideas?
    (latest firmware update)

    Welcome to the discussions!
If you have tried the factory default reset several times and continue to see a constant amber light, the Express has likely experienced an internal electrical component failure and will need to be replaced.

  • Factory Reset doesn't work on Spinning Gears lumia 928

    Hello,
Last night i was struck with the Spinning Gears on my Nokia Lumia 928.  I researched it a bit to see what i could do to fix it, sadly it didn't help much. most people said to Factory Reset the phone (Up volume, down volume, power, down volume.)  But it does absolutely nothing at all. I get no ! when i reset the phone. All it does is show the word Nokia then spinning gears. People also said just reset it a few times and it will work, from wen i started counting i reset it over 30 times and let the gears spin for 8 hours. The phone doesn't charge ether but it will stay on if it is plugged in. Im out of ideas on how to fix this phone, and i rather not wait a few days for them to send me a new one IF they even do send me one.
If anyone has any ideas for me peoples let me know. Even if the idea is, you cant do anything bring it to the store thats fine i just wanna know if theres anything i can do.

I am stuck here.  I have had the Lumia 928 for about 2.5-3 months now.  I have decided to go back to Android, but want to give the phone to my son.  I went to do a Factory Reset and have been stuck on Gears for 2 days.  I have let the battery drain, removed the SIM, and did the following from the Nokia Support Site 5-6 times.  No luck, can you help?
    Step 1
Press and hold power and volume down key.
    Phone vibrates (release the keys)
Right after this press and hold the volume down key down
Exclamation mark is shown on the screen (release the volume down key)
Step 2Then input the keys in the following order:
    Volume up
    Volume down
    Power
    Volume down
    Step 3
The phone will reset and boot up automatically. Please note that this may take several minutes.

  • Safari Reset Doesn't Work

I'm having a bit of trouble. Safari is no longer responding to the reset function. I click it, it opens the dialog asking me if I really want to do this, I click yes, and then nothing happens. I think this started after I downloaded the latest security update. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there a solution? Thank you.

Hey just found that plist it was in my home file. So I deleted it and now Safari has done a complete reset. Let's hope this works, eh? How much plist info does it need to build up before the cookie list becomes indestructable? Why does OS X claim to so something but doesn't?

  • WRT54G - Hard Reset Doesn't Work

I have tried multiple times to hard reset my Wireless G WRT54G ver.2 router, but have had no success. I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address. With every reset attempt, I hope that the default admin password will work, but sadly no. Any ideas of what to do? Thanks!

You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • My classic 160gb ipod is stuck on the apple logo. Reset doesn't work.

My Classic ipod switched to the apple logo when I ws searching for a song and I can't shift it from that screen. I've tried a reset and switched to disk mode too but itunes doesn't recognise the ipod at all now . When in disk mode the ipod is visible in windows but still not in itunes. How can I get out of this?

Can you try connecting the iPod in Disk Mode to another PC or Mac to see if it's properly recognized in iTunes there?
If nothing else, do a low level reformat of the iPod's hard drive to reset everything.

  • HT201295 Late 2011 Macbook Pro refuses to boot. SMC reset doesn't work

Late 2011 Macbook Pro refuses to boot. SMC reset does nothing. Have tried bypassing SMC (nothing).
Magsafe light glows very very faintly (barely visible in a room with lights on).
Have tried reseating the battery connector. Battery indicator status button illuminates no LEDS (despite it being charged before failing).

    Any ideas anyone. Logic board?
    Many thanks and best wishes
    Jamie

Is it a 15" or 17" MBP? There have been logic board issues with that model.
    https://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Pro
    For all models.
If it's a 13" take the bottom off and disconnect the battery:
    https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Late+2011+Battery+Repla cement/7649
So only do this through step #3!
Wait 10 seconds. Push the power button for 5 seconds. Wait 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery. Put the bottom back on don't screw it on just yet. Tape it temporarily in place and try to start it
Even if it's a 15" or 17" try this anyway.  Usually when graphics on the logic board fails there will have been anomalies beforehand.

  • IPhone 4 doesn't turn on. Reset doesn't work.

For the past year, my iPhone 4 locks up every now and then (it does not let me slide to unlock) but it always began to work again after 4 or 5 force restarts. A couple days ago, this happened, but it did not work after many force restarts. I restored it to factory settings, and I got to the part where it says to let your phone restart, but after it did, the iPhone turned off and now it will not turn back on. iTunes cannot see it and I have tried charging it and it does not work. It had iOS 5.1.
Also the phone has not been severly damaged or dropped in water or anything like that. Thanks!

    what fixed it?

  • Black screen/reset doesn't work/restore error 1601

All of a sudden my iphone 3gs went dead. Reset with home and lock button does nothing. Plugging into a charger shows nothing on the screen either. When I connect to itunes (on a powerbook G4), it sees an iphone in recovery mode that needs to be restored. When i choose restore, it first gets the software, but when trying to update the phone it give the error "iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1601)."
Anyone know a fix for this? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    Hi,
Did you perhaps change provider recently?
I had the simlock taken of my old iPhone 3G to give it to my daughter.
The unlock procedure did not run the way the T-Mobile 10-step procedure described, after step 7 nothing happened for like an hour and a half (instead of the 30 minutes waiting time indicated) and all of a sudden the 3G was connected to the provider of my daughter.
Skipping steps 8-10 of the procedure.
According to T-Mobile support "something must have gone wrong with Apple during the unlock procedure over there"
And now, less than 20 hours of unlocking, we experience the same problems as you do.
A black screen, or just the Apple logo for 10-15 seconds when on the adapter, often no connection possible to iTunes.
And every now and again the iPhhone does connect to iTunes with a window popping up "a iPhone needing restore is connected"
However, restore is broken off every time, with this annoying "unknown error 1601"
And yes, I did uninstall iTunes and the AppleMobileDevice-thing.
What I am wondering about is that on the internet most discussions link error 1601 to jailbreaking.
This iPhone was never jailbroken, but could it "think" it has been because of some error in the procedure of unlocking the simlock and changing from T-Mobile to Vodafone?
And if does, what is the solution?

  • White screen? Resetting doesn't work

I've tried resetting like a million times! Still nothing, my screen is still white. I have the 160GB. I won't restore because thats over 24,000 songs gone. I dropped it today on the pavement, it wasn't even a hard drop. Can someone tell me how to fix this please?

    - Try connecting to comutr and then try to restor.
    - If still white screen, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the reset and restore again.

  • HT1430 iPhone won't turn on or charge and only displays low battery image. Reset doesn't work. Help?

This morning, my iPhone actually was down to 1% battery left. However, after more than 20 minutes, the battery still wasn't charging, so I followed the directions of shutting down my phone and turning it back on and then resetting it. When I powered down my phone, it wouldn't turn back on, and instead, it shows the low battery image on dispplay. I tried resetting it even longer than the usual 10 seconds, but the apple logo does not show up. I hope my battery isn't dead, but is there something I can do to fix my phone other than what I have done so far?

    You can "try" recovery mode:
Turn your phone off, then force it into recovery mode & restore it:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
If no luck...your next step is an Apple store.

  • Even resetting doesn't work

I lost my airport connection. I reset my Extreme base station. When I use the Airport set up assistant to "Set up a new AirPost Base Station" and then continue it tells me that it "found a new AirPort Extreme with a wireless... However, when I push "Continue," it searches for the base station until a Base Station Error comes up that says "The Airport Setup Asisstant was unable to find you base station." This is despite the fact that the assistant recognized that there was a "New Airport Extreme." I've reset several times and this happens every time.

For a start, make sure your cable or DSL modem is connected to the Base Station's WAN port (the port labelled with the "circle of dots" icon). Failing to do this is a very common cause of the problem you are having. Second most common cause of this problem - firewall software you installed on the Mac, or software like "Little Snitch" that interferes with network communication.
