WRT120N Suddenly stopped connecting to the Internet (Modem)

Hi!
Well, I have a WRT120N Router for 11 months to now. I never had a problem with the Router, but since 2 days ago, It didnt connect to the internet.
My network is:
Internet > Cable Modem > WRT120N > Computers
As I said, the problem is that the Router doesnt has Internet Connection.
Things to take in consideration:
The Cable MODEM ISN'T the problem Because if i connect the modem directly to a computer, I have Internet connection without problems.
I Diconnected and Connected both Modem and Router in several ways and several times, and it doesnt work.
I also tryed clonning my PCs MAC address to the Router and it was the same.
The Router Indeed receives the External IP Address from the Modem, and also, it changes if i restart the modem (as my ISP IP is DHCP). But there is NO internet conection.
The Router had the 1.0.05 Firmware, and i upgraded to 1.0.06, and the problem persists.
Another thing to take in account is that if I turn off my modem and the I turn it On, sometimes, the router receives Internet connection, but in matter of Seconds (minutes as much), the internet connection falls.
This is NOT an ISP problem, because as I said, if I connect the Modem Directly to any PC, i have a perfectly normal Internet Connection, And also, I called my ISP and they Said me that there werent any problem on their network.
I have also tryed with the "Router Dianostics" (the Ping and Traceroute options that are in the Router's Webend and also, no conection. So its NOT a Cables problem.
So, im thinking that this could be a hardware related issue...
What do you think?

Hi
Well i belive the only thing which is left now is DNS.. Might be the DNS address that you are getting from the ISP is not working through the router.. You can try in putting a Global DNS address on the setup page of the router..
And if that does'nt resolve the issue.. It could be hardwire issue with the router itself.

  • HT1976 iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet away from home

My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet when away from home. It was fine last Wednesday, then on Thursday all I got was 'Safari is no longer connected to the internet'. I cannot use the Messaging, Find my Friends etc.
As far as I know I have not done anything to alter any settings, but I did change my password on Wednesday - which works, so I think that's OK.
Has anyone any idea what is happening?

My ipad has suddenly stopped connecting to the intenet via my home wifi system. The settings have notbeen changed. why is this?

The first thing to try is to power down your modem and router for about 30 seconds, then repowering by plugging them back in.
Also, if that doesn't work, on your iPad you can try going into settings/safari/clear history/clear data and cookies.

  • IMac suddenly stopped connecting to the internet

So, I left the room for a while and let the screen saver come up, when I came back it wouldn't connect to the internet with any program (iChat, Safari, Firefox, and Thunderbird).
I connect via ethernet to FiOS but none of the other computers are having trouble connecting.
It's not a connection problem, thankfully. I connected my ethernet cable to a laptop and it connected perfectly.
I ran a diagnostics, however it was essentially useless. It told me that it could not connect to the internet or the server, and to check to make sure that the URL was typed correctly... No websites will load, though.
I did ping my mother's laptop (and my own computer) and it came back fine again, again and again...
In my limited opinion, it has to be some sort of software problem, but this being so all of a sudden bothers me. If I were on a PC I would think virus, but since it's a Mac, this is not likely at all.
Please give me some help and ideas, cause I have run out...
    Thanks,
    Mike.

I used to have the exact same problem, after I cleared my dns cache and renewed my DHCP license everything worked. Strange thing is that, somehow, someway, by some form of magic this problem stopped happening all together so I never had to continue issuing the command everytime. Could've been due to an update shrug
Type the command below in a terminal. Then renew your DHCP license in Network settings
    -> sudo dscacheutil -flushcache

  • My imac has just suddenly stopped connecting to the net

My mac just radomly stopped connecting to the internet last week and i cant get it to reconnect again. All the other devices in my house connect perfectly. i use an O2 home hub and have had no problems for a year with this so im guessing its the mac. my girlfriend recently bought a printer and plugged it in next to the mac but it isnt connected, is there any chance this could be blocking the wireless signal? thanks mike

    Hi Mike...
Try turning off the router for about 5 minutes, then turn it back on then restart the Mac.
If the printer isn't setup for printing with the Mac, I doubt that's the problem.

  • My ipad will not suddenly not connect to the internet

My ipad has suddenly stopped conncting to safari even though I have wiifii

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • WRT120N won't connect to the internet

COX cable was out yesterday doing some work outside our apartment building. Now, our CISCO LinkSYS WRT120N won't work. I was working before COX cable came out and has been working without problem for the past two years.
When I plug the harddrive into slot 1 in the back of the router, "4" lights up. When I plut it into slot 4, "1" lights up. When I plug it into slot 2, "3" lights up, and when I plug it into slot 3, "2" lights up.
I tried the router software, but when I reach the plug the router in step, the soft ware returns after a couple minutes and says it cannot locate the router, even though the router lights are on.
Plugging our internet cable into our hard drive directly allows us to connect to the Internet (which is how I am able to post this message.)
What can I do to get my router working again?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If it asking for the firmware upgrade through "Recovery Tool" then download the firmware from the link: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT120N  . The file that you will download will in .bin extension. After doing the firmware upgrade follow the steps:
    # Locate the reset button at the back or bottom of your router.  Using a pen or a paper clip, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds. Observe the Power LED on the router while pressing the button.  It should blink or flash as an indication that the router is properly resetting.
    # Unplug the router from the power outlet for 30 seconds.  Plug it back and wait for the power LED to be solid.
After doing with the procedure open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 it should open up the Router setup page.
Now from here you need to follow the procedure as mentioned in the prior post.

  • WRT120N Can't connect to the internet - WAN led always on

I used this router for a year no problem, then I got a modem-router. Now, 2 years later I tried to set up the router and my old modem again and didn't work.
Was strange, as both modem and router were in a box for 2 years and were working fine before I put em there, how could any config could be changed?
Anyways I tried everything you could think of to make it work, but I couldn't.
No matter if I config (both the router and modem) to work as ppoe or as DHCP, the router just won't connect to the internet.
I'm sure I configured everything right, both in modem and router (tried the CD asist several times, too).
Firmware was last version. Downgraded to .05 to see if that could be the issue, but no luck.
Something I think might be related is the WAN led. It's always on, even if nothing is plugged in the WAN port. I don't remember if it was always like this, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't... And doesn't make any sense that the light should be on if nothing is plugged there.
My modem is working, direct to the computer and using another router.
Also I've tried the linksys whit  4 different adls modems, in 2 different houses. So I'm 100% sure it's a router issue, not related to the adsl line, modem, or computer.

It is possible that the IP address of the ADSL modem and the Linksys router are conflicting.
No. I use 192.168.1.1 for the modem and .100 for the router. Also tried using the router on 192.168.2.1 and the modem on 192.168.1.1 and viceversa.
The modem might have its router capability enabled and it is giving a private IP just like your Linksys router.
No. When I set the router to ppoe I disable all routing and dhcp options on the modem.
To avoid the conflict, change the LAN IP of your router to 10.10.10.1. By the way, it is not advisable to downgrade the firmware. It is better if you use the latest firmware. So, you need to upgrade, reset and reconfigure the router.
I did it as a last option. I've spent so many hours trying every config possible.
Anyways already updated to latest and reconfigured using the IP you suggested. Still not working.
Something weird, is that sometimes it does work. Like if I power cycle the router and modem and I keep doing it (talking about like 50 times), then maybe one of the times it will detect the modem and give conection to my pc.
Then if I turn it off again, it won't work the next time I power on.

  • My Ipad (3rd Gen) has stopped connecting to the internet via Wifi - please help

  • Hp wireless all-in-one 5520 printer stopped connecting to the internet

my wireless hp photosmart 5520 all-in-one printer will print from my wireless laptop, but it no longer connects to the internet. I cannot download apps. i ran a wireless network test and everything is good, except for the internet (not connected) what can i do

    Hi Lars,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems connecting your printer to the internet.
I have included a document about maintaining wireless connectivity.  Please follow the steps in "Solution two: Assign the printer a static IP address".  When you reach the steps about setting the DNS servers, for the Preferred DNS server please use 8.8.8.8 and for the Alternate DNS server please use 8.8.4.4.   These are Google's DNS servers. Once you have set the manual ip and dns servers, please try to enable web services. It should go through.

  • MBP Stops Connection to the Internet

    Hey,
So I just got a new Mac Book Pro and have been having problems with the internet. I am using an airport extreme for my internet and have wireless speakers set up in my room with an express. For some reason when ever I try downloading media on itunes or stream a video my internet cuts out after about 20-30 min. My wired connection work fine throughout the house but my wireless goes down and I can connect to the internet with any device. If I restart my comp then it works fine. I have had the extreme set up in my house for a few years now and when I just added the express it seemed to have started this problem. Would there be an IP conflict or something, its not a big problem but would like to understand why it happens,
Never posted on the forums before but hopefully someone might understand the issue,
    Thanks,
    Scott

"Dynamic WDS" is not a selectable option, not directly at least. It is the default option for extending a 802.11n AirPorts and became available with those models.
To create a dynamic WDS or "extended wireless network" with a pair of 802.11n AirPorts, you just need to select the options I mentioned earlier on each base station.
The following is the basic setup steps that you can use to see if you missed anything when configuring your base stations:
Dynamic WDS - Extending an 802.11n AirPort Wireless Network Setup
If practical, place the base stations in near proximity to each other during the setup phase. Once done, move them to their desired locations.
Open AirPort Utility, and then, select the base station that will connect to the Internet.
Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then, click Wireless.
Choose “Create a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, select the “Allow this network to be extended” checkbox.
Next, select the base station that will extend this network, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Choose “Extend a wireless network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and then, choose the network you want to extend from the Network Name pop-up menu.
Enter the base station network and base station password if necessary.
Click Update to update the base station with new network settings.
(ref: Pages 43-44 of Apple AirPort Networks.)
Also, for better network bandwidth performance, I would suggest that you change your wireless security to "WPA2 Personal."

  • What have my iPhone and iPad both suddenly quit connecting to the internet via wifi?

My phone quit connecting to the internet even when connected to an internet enabled wifi network and then a few days later my iPad has quit. I have taken both to other locations where there are wifi networks available and they will not connect to the internet, though they are connecting to the wifi.

Setting/General/Reset - Reset network settings is a good place to start.

  • My WRT350N doesn't work anymore, just stopped connecting to the internet

I WRT350N was working for a while, I came home from a trip and it was up, I connected to it, but no internet. I went through a series of checks with the cable modem which was working. I swapped out the router and connect back to the internet. I've tried all the procedure for resetting and resetup and no internet.  I found that I was down level on the firmware to I download the latest and follow the instruction to load it. Got to 98% and it failed. Now I can not even access the router. It comes on, I see the light, but now I can't even get an IP from the device.  Any clue?  I can't find my receipt on when I brought the device, I know it was middle of 2009. and the website doesn't provide good information on how to get service.
(Mod note: Edited post for guideline compliance. Thanks!)

Before you try to configure the settings on your Router, first thing which you need to do is, Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
Connect the Modem to the Linksys Router on the Internet Port and then connect your computer to the Linksys router on the LAN Port 1. On your Computer click on Start - Run - CMD and click Ok... Now in the Command Prompt window type "ipconfig" and hit enter and note down the "IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway" , Now again in the Command Prompt window type "ping default gateway IP" and hit enter and check if you are getting any replies, If yes then you can login to the setup page of the configure all the settings on it from scratch.

  • My ipad suddenly stopped connecting to the wifi network. My lap top still does however

My iPad was working fine with the wifi at my house but suddenly stopped working today. My laptop still connects just fine but I can no longer get my iPad to connect.  Any suggestions?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
