WRT160N V3 disconnections on vista

I've had this router for a few months now and it acts really funky.
Previously I had a laptop and an older p3 desktop system hooked up via wireless. The router is currently located rather far from where the comptuers are located, in a seperate building on our property. We've been remodelling the house so we haven't had our isp come out and move the setup into the house yet. However, signal strength isn't really an issue as much as convenience of getting to the router when it needs to be reset.
Anyway, the problem was *(and is) that I'd have a great connection with the laptop and be able to browse, ftp, chat, whatever fine but if i started doing several things at once, like browsing while uploading a large selection of files, it would disconnect me. Or more accurately I should say it would downgrade my connection to "local only". I would have to right click on the network icon and disconnect from the network then reconnect to it again to get my connection back. I would have to repeat this over and over until my files finished uploading. Yet the older computer, running xp, didn't seem to have this issue at all.
Recently I hooked up a newer system running vista instead of the xp system and now it too has this connectivity issue, although not as often since we don't do a lot of ftp with it. Yet both computers still have this connectivity issue whenever we load multiple pages at a time. It's like a heavy load causes the router to "crap it's brain" or something. We get the connection back again only after disconnecting and reconnecting to the network.
I have no idea if the wired connections would do the same as there's no way to test that right now. I've been researching the issue and it seems several other people have had this same problem but the only "solution" i've seen was to use something other than windows to manage the connection. I tried using the LELA thing to manage it instead and it doesn't work at all. Won't even recognize the router. That's probably my fault more than faulty software but still, either way you look at it, the router should not be doing this.
Is there some kind of firmware update i'm missing or some other fix that I've been unable to locate so far?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to move this router into the house later and find that it is STILL not working properly.

What is the distance between the Laptop and the Router..?
- Change the MTU to 1364.
- Uncheck " document.write("Filter Anonymous Internet Requests")Filter Anonymous Internet Requests" under Security tab.
- Under Wireless tab,Set Channel Width to 20MHz and Channel to 11.
- Under Advance Wireless Settings,Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,RTS Threshold to 2304.

Will the Linksys WRT160N work with windows vista at all?
Some one please clear this up for me, it could be answered in the simplestterms from the English Language of course.
I've recently purchased the Linksys WRT160N however after purchase "of course"I manage to find reviews stating that the router will not work with the WindowsVista Premium, or windows Vista for that matter.
E.g.(Comments like These 'which are not my own')----------
"When I tried it with a new computer running Vista 64, it would install but the Linksys System Advisor would not. After 1 chat and 4 phone calls with support the system will still not run."
"It is a good product with XP, but if you use Vista 64 good luck. After several hours of working to get it running my patience and options have run out."
"It has taken almost a week for us to figure out that the Linksys Router, WRT160N from Best Buy does not workwith Vista Premium. I looked on-line to Linksys Website and discovered that the router, WRT160N is notsupported for Vista users. .."
E.g. (CommentContradicting to what has been said above)------
"Bought this to replace my outdated Linksys (new Vista laptop) and was blown away. Thisthing practically set itself up. It replaced the wired router and wireless routers I was using, asthe signal strength is awesome. I'm still pulling over 5meg ... "
So I guess one could see why I am confused, based on the 2 sidedcontradictions pertaining to this router actually working with windows vista ornot.
So can someone respond (preferable a Vista User) and tell me the truth as of towhat this router can an cannot do in terms of Vista? Thanks

It should work with vista without any issues if you are running any software on the computers (64 bit) from linksys it may not work but if you will connect that computer with an ethernet to the router it should work fine.

  • IPod reformatted after disconnecting using Vista

    Help!!
My iPod got reformatted/restored after I disconnected it in Windows Explorer using the new Vista. GRRR.
I don't suppose there's anything that can be done to salvage my files that were in my iPod?
Anyway, now when I try to connect it to my computer with the latest iTunes version,
    1) it takes forever to detect and load,
    2) iTunes says that it is corrupt, and when it opens, the capacity, software version, serial number are all shown as n/a,
    3) when I try to restore it, it says that there was a problem downloading the iPod software and that the requested resource was not found (I've already tried deleting the 'iPod software update' as instructed on one of the tutorials),
    4) I can't add music or any files to it!!!
Can anybody enlighten me? This has caused my ALOT of distress.
Mine is a 4th gen iPod.
    Thanks in advance!

As a follow up. I reset the ipod. I plugged the ipod classic 160GB into a computer running windows XP and got the same result: stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect" and iTunes hung. My conclusion is that the bug is in the ipod and not Vista.
I agree with the poster that concluded that Apple released this ipod too early with inadequate testing.
Anyone else notice that each generation of ipod comes packaged with less extras?!
ex. with gen 5.5 you got a nice sleeve and a hard case with belt clip, with gen 6.0 you got neither. Seems to me Apple's policy has become: "we've got loyal customers, time to screw 'em over"

  • ITunes/iPod stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect" using Vista

I've moved about 40GB onto my 160GB ipod classic without incident. After my latest manual transfer of mp3 files iTunes and my iPod are stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect". I have installed the recommended windows Vista patch that allegedly fixes the Vista corrupting the iPOD at eject.
I Never had a problem with my windows xp and ipod 80GB Gen 5.5.
I'm pretty disappointed with apple's engineering. I think I'll go back to my Archos 605 160GB (much more reliable!) and return the iPOD to the store.
It's taken days to move 40GB onto my ipod I really don't want to do a total wipe of the ipod using the factory setting restore. Anything else I can try?

  • SAPGUI Disconnects with Vista VPN

    Dear experts,
I have the following problem, I'm using the saplogon 710 and build 1016365.
I'm connecting our server using Windows XP with Windows VPN every thing is fine and it rarely (if ever) disconnects.
However if I use Windows Vista with the same setup. After approximately 30 seconds of inactivity I get the following error.

    Please Help.

Thanks for the "push" in the correct direction..
in internet I found this link which was a bit confusing to me to be honest but as understand there was a change of functionality in vista from XP I decided the give WinPcap application a try

After about 10 mins of inactivity testing I confirmed it was working. I'll update if the situation changes but so far it works like a charm.
    Many thanks,

  • Comcast - WRT160N & WRT310N disconnect

This is more for advisement - information in hopes a Linksys rep occassionally reads through this.
I have both models - WRT160N & WRT310N on the comcast network.  They intermittently seize and require a reboot.
The WRT160N has a static IP on the Comcast business service (which is handled by a SMC cable modem).
    The WRT310N has standard DHCP.
Operating systems on the LAN side of both routers are either Windows XP or Vista.
When the routers seize, you cannot pass traffic wired or wireless to the devices.
After a power cycle the devices are accessible for a then unknown amount of time until the next lock up.
I would encourage business users to try a different brand or certainly model as this can become a problem.
After reading some of the material, there may be a bad DHCP broadcast that can cause the lock up, but as the WRT160N is static, it should ignore same.
    Good luck all.
    Regards,
    Javamarket

Connect the two Switchs to the LAN of the router & configure the router according to the comcast cable connection .....

  • Does it work out of the box well ........NO

The Airport Express 'AE' has simply not lived up to its name 'Express' because mine still does not work as intended in a Windows Vista environment.
Oh and this is the second unit that I have been working with over the last three days. The first one was returned after the power plug came apart when unplugging the unit for the nnn [as documented by Apple as a method of resolving described issues] time exposing the 240V cabling fortunately or unfortunately depending upon Apple's law firms point of view contact with 'Volts' was somehow avoided. Oh and to Apples credit the unit was changed over with both a smile and apology in less time than it takes to blink an eye.
Just to set the tone and so as not to appear to be overly disgruntled I simply love Apple's packaging which I guess they hope conveys the message that what looks good is good what do they say you should not judge a book by its cover.
Well what are the issues summarized in order to keep this installment as brief as possible:
    First Lesson:
2 x iPhone's 3G will only Wi-Fi connect with my DLink DIR655 802.11/n in 802.11/g mode which is a mystery because I thought that the iPhone was a '/n' device? The other mystery is that the iPHone will only Wi-Fi connect if the Router is set for auto channel scan selection which in my case is always wireless 2.437Ghz channel 6. Oh and the router is running WPA/2 AES but only after a recent firmware upgrade from D-Link now running version 1.21 'published 10/9/2008 and still current as at the date of this installment'. Before the routers firmware upgrade the iPhone would only Wi-Fi connect in WEP mode.
Another symptom is that if the channel is fixed to say '2' it takes forever to log onto the D-Link router giving the appearance that network performance has been degraded by this configuration.
    Second Lesson:
You cannot configure the AE 'Firmware version 7.3.2' using AirPort Utility 'Version 5.3.2' unless you are communicating with the device via its Ethernet Port. Otherwise if you perform an update whilst connected via Wi-Fi after the device reboots a rescan simply fails to discover the device. At this point you can log to it provided that you know its IP address '192.168.0.nnn' using the menu item 'File/Configure Other...'
    Lesson Three:
When run in 'Join a Wireless Network' the AE functions correctly the iPhone remote connects with the nominated iTunes Library then after a short period of time [minutes] connectivity between the iPHone running the Remote application and iTunes is lost 'Desktop is still awake and AE displays Green'. If you restart the AE this problem is not resolved however if you disconnect the Desktop from the D-Link Wireless Network and then reconnect the connectivity problem is resolved. Oh and by the way the DLink is configured with Wireless always on.
    Lesson Four:
I have a Epsom R390 printer USB connected to the Desktop and shared over the network which worked without any issues whatsoever. The Inkjet printer is connected to a continuous ink supply. With the latest version of Bonjour installed I had no problem seeing and connecting to the pinter via the AE USB port however for some reason the printer was reporting an 'Error' when processing a print job that appeared to be related a run out of ink a problem was remedied without any other adjustments by simply reconnecting the printer to the Desktop.
    Lesson Five:
If you configure the AE as a stand-a-lone Wireless Device it gives the appearance of being issue free as far as the iPhone - Remote - iTunes functionality only [did not test printing] but I did not purchase the equipment as a stand-a-line Wireless Device.
    In summary:
Where is the point of failure well I am not sure it could be a AE/Vista or AE/Vista/D-Link or AE/D-Link or simply an AE issue.
Is the AE fit for the purpose for which it was intended [as described by Apple]? well only a solution as to how it can be made to work reliably will resolve that question.
For my part I am quite happy to continue making my time freely available to find a resolution.

    HOW I SOLVED MY PROBLEM.
To get rid of the current network configuration/s:
Reset the AE and powered Off and disconnected Ethernet Cable
Disconnected the Vista Desktop from the D-Link Wi-Fi Network
Deleted the AE Network in Vista - Start/Network/Network Sharing Centre/Manage Wireless Networks
Deleted the D-Link Network in Vista -Start/Network/Network Sharing Centre/Manage Wireless Networks
Ran forget Wi-Fi Network on iPhones switched OFF WiFi
Ran forget all Remotes in iTunes
Reset D-Link Router and then powered Off
Shutdown the Desktop and powered OFF
Had lunch followed by a cup of coffee.....
    To Reconfigure:
    1 - D-Link Router
    Desktop/Windows XP/Ethernet connectivity with the D-Link Router
    Powered up the D-Link
Performed the Wireless Setup including changes to the factory defaults
    DHCP Client
    QOS Inactive
    Wireless Enabled
    802.11Mixed 902.11/n and 802.11/g
    Channel Width 20&40Mhz
    AutoChannel
    WISH Active
    Wi-Fi Protection:
    Security Mode WPA-Personal
    Auto WPA or WPA2
    TKIP and AES
    Restarted the D-Link
    2 Desktop- Vista
    Cold Start
Connected to the D-Link Wi-Fi Network 'proved Internet Connectivity - Broadband Cable'
Powered on the AE without Ethernet Network connectivity
Ran Airport Utility 'Found the Airport Express without any problems'
Retained default Airport Express SSD Name:
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network name the D-Link SSD Name
    Wireless Security WPA/WPA2 Personal
    Channel 6 Automatic
    Connect using Wireless Network
    Robustness Off
Restart the AE waited for it to complete its power up processing
Start/Network/Network Sharing Centre/Manage Wireless Networks changed the AE network properties to WPA2 AES enabled 'this is not automatically configured by the Airport Utility Software
Confirmed that the Visa Network order of logon priority was the D-Link then Airport Express
Disconnect Desktop from D-Link WiFi connectivity and then reconnect Desktop to D-Link WiFi
Connect iPhone to the D-Link Wifi network
    Launch iTunes
Launch Remote on the iPhone and paired the device on iTunes
IT NOW WORKS WITH EXCELLENT RANGE 'distance between the AE and the iPhone
    WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM
Well my guess is a corruption in some aspect of the network setup which was resolved by deleting all the existing network configurations and basically starting again.
    IN CONCLUSION
I can now report that the AE is fit for my purpose and looks as good as the packaging.... it almost had me though....

    help!!!
i have been trying to download itunes but i either get the above message... or else it just tells me it has downloaded.. but it hasnt
i am pulling my hair out here....
i have gone thru all the help files.. have tried everything.. but nothing is working

Was BB Link also installed on the Win 8 machine ?  If so did you uninstall Link also.
If Link was not installed on Win 8 disconnect the Vista one from the Internet and try download again.
If download fails connect  Win 8 direct to your connection and not your router.

  • Using Safely Eject Hardware in Windows Vista Doesn't Disconnect iPod

When I use the Safely Eject Hardware Option to eject my iPod in Vista, my iPod still says "Do Not Disconnect", whilst in Windows XP it will allow me to use the iPod afterwards.
I know vista is got some compatability issues but does anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks.

I thought I was alone with this problem. I recently went traveling last weekend, and began to think the X-Ray machines killed my iPod!
Whenever I connect my iPod to any computer using the USB connection, Windows will not mount it as a removable drive. The cable is good, because the iPod is being charged but Windows will not recognize it.
I have tried all the different USB ports, even on several different computers. Including my work, laptop, and my desktop. Windows will not recognize my iPod using the USB connection.
I'm in the process of restoring my desktop computer after a hard-drive failure (lucky me all my vital data were on a separate drive), so my desktop has a nice clean install of Windows.
My desktop has a firewire port, so I tried connecting to that port and Ta-Da, Windows recognized and mounted my iPod as a removable drive! Unfortunately my laptop nor my work computers do not have firewire ports.
Can anyone explain why the USB function suddenly stopped working? Does this mean I need to restore and loose all my music from my iPod? I do not let iTunes manage my music, I do that all myself. I can put my music back onto the device but it will be time consuming. If anyone knows the answer to this USB problem, perhaps you can reply to this thread or contact me.
    Thanks,
    Joe Vill

  • Vista 32 - ipod not recognized, failed to install drivers, disconnecting

    Hi to all,
I have experienced a problem with my brand new Ipod classic 80GB and was flustrated by it. It took me some time ro research internet to find a fix for this problem and i would like to share it with you to have it at one place. If such article exists here i appologize, i did not find it myself.
    _The problem:_
Ipod in Windows Vista 32 *cannot find/install drivers*. Ipod shows up for couple of seconds and then *automaticaly disconnects*.
    Solution:
i have found solution that worked form me at this site
    [http://teknobabble.wordpress.com/2007/08/18/vista-driver-problems-installing-a- usb-media-reader-a-solution>
Thanks to the autor of this article and i hape this helps some of you having the same problem as i had

Can you be specific as to what drivers are not installing? An issue that can be had when doing PNPEnum is that child devices of something that does not have a driver installed are not visible to the PNPEnum. A way to get around that is you can force the
injection of drivers that are not getting installed. Something like you can add a second Inject Driver step but, have it be a selection profile of drivers that always get missed because they are children.

  • WRT610N disconnects and does not work with Vista or media center extenders like the DMA2200

Linksys and all other router manufacturers advertise the greatness of the wireless 5ghz band (especially with 802.11n), but I’m beginning to have my doubts.  It is true that the 5Ghz band is hardly being used so you'll have virtually no one to compete with.  However, the 5Ghz distance in no way compares to 2.4Ghz, and as a matter of fact, I find it to be quite terrible.  At approximately 20 feet away, both my Linksys DMA2200 and HP notebook barely get 1 bar using the 5Ghz N band with my WRT610N router.  In comparison, while using my 2.4Ghz WRT54g router, I get 5 full bars at that range, and at least 2 bars from anywhere else in my house.
I have all Linksys equipment in my house as I have been impressed with all of their 2.4Ghz in the past.  However, I’ve recently upgraded everything to dual-band N equipment and found numerous flaws in each of the new devices, plus none of them really even play well together.  My setup is: Linksys 610n router, DMA2200 media center extender, and a WUSB600N Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter for my laptop – all of which are currently using the most up-to-date firmware. Other devices include a WRE54G extender and  Nintendo Wii.
Problem  #1) The LELA software with the new N devices doesn't even recognize that my DMA2200 is a media center extender.  Using LELA, I should be able to select my media extender and allocate more bandwidth for streaming media.  However, since my extender only shows up as an “unknown network device” those options are greyed out.  I tried to manually change the device to a media center, but still no go.  I suppose you can manually allocate bandwidth in the router setup somewhere, but considering these are all Linksys products, it’s absolutely ridiculous that an option specifically incorporated in the LELA software for a Linksys Media Extender does not work!!!
Problem #2) If you are only using one system with the router, the router might actually work as intended.  For most of us though there are going to be at least 2 or more systems connected to the router (wired, wireless, or a combination of the two) such as a PS3, Wii, laptop, PC, media extender, Xbox, etc.  If that’s the case, you’re probably screwed because you WILL experience frequent dropouts… ESPECIALLY if just one those clients is a VISTA machine.   Check the Linksys forums and you will find that this seems to be a problem with all of the new Linksys routers (610N, 310N, and 110).
Here is a Microsoft article that explains the issue
       http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928233/en-us
Problem #3) Because of  problem #2 I will never be able to get rid of the dropouts since my network is using one of Linksys’s media center extenders.  The DMA2200 is essentially a VISTA PC to some extent and accepts DHCP requests the same as a VISTA PC.  Since it is not really a PC though, there is no registry modification that can be done to alleviate the VISTA problem (not that the registry mod really works anyways).  So as long as I try to use my DMA2200 wirelessly with my WRT610N router, the frequent dropouts will occur and there’s nothing I can do about it.  This is REALLY TERRIBLE since the DMA2200 is specifically designed to be used with the WRT610N router in order to take advantage of the 5Ghz band and wireless N transfer rates.  You absolutely need 5Ghz wireless N to efficiently stream HDTV WIRELESSLY, but if you lose your connection every 10 minutes, it is impossible to watch any type of streaming media.
Problem #4) As mentioned already, when the “N” 5Ghz range is working on the WRT510N router, the distance sucks compared to standard 2.4Ghz G, N or mixed mode networks.  You can try to make it better by strictly using N products, disabling the 2.4ghz band all-to-gether, and using the wider 40mhz frequency, but it doesn’t really help.  The higher 5Ghz band is a more concentrated signal and therefore simply does not reach as far as the lower 2.4ghz band.  I wonder why all of these new products state that the 5Ghz range will increase your distance, when in fact it actually makes it worse?
So… basically, this router does nothing that it claims too and is basically rendered useless on any network with a VISTA machine.  This has not been addressed by any Linksys firmware updates or VISTA software updates so there is no reason to even consider using this router if you you’re using VISTA or some type of VISTA Media Center Extender such as the Linksys DMA2200.
Although, I’ve always sworn by Linksys in the past, the amount of wasted time, frustration, and horrible support has really changed my view about them.  I’ve reverted back to my old trustworthy WRT54g router and had to run cable through my house so that I wouldn’t have to box my DMA2200 extender up and let it collect dust in the attic.  It’s really disappointing that I spent all this money to buy this equipment specifically because they’re supposed to work together, but in fact they don’t.  Plus what’s the point of having top notch wireless equipment if you have to run cables in order for them to work?

I have fixed all the IP adresses to avoid the DHCP problem but I still have problems.
    I have sereval scenarioes:
    1. MC < 1Gb wire > WRT610N < 5.0n WIFI > MX
I can see HDTV on this one but it disconnects
    2. MC < 1Gb wire > WRT610N < 2.4b/g WIFI > MX
    No HDTV and disconnections
    3. MC < 2.4b/g WIFI > WRT610N < 2.4b/g WIFI > MX
No HDTV but no disconnections - but very slow and streaming like youtube
    4. MC < 100Mb wire > WRT610N < 2.4b/g WIFI > MX
No HDTV but nice picture - testing for disconnections right now - 30+ min.
    Result:
This test was very good. Stabil streaming, no disconnects for an hour. Won't support HDTV but the rest seem to work fine.
    5. MC < 100Mb wire > WRT610N < 5.0n WIFI > MX
Not tested yet - looking forward to this - might bring me HDTV.
    Result:
This gives HDTV but there is a problem with stability on the streaming but very difficult to see on the picture. Testing for disconnects - now tested for 30 min. - no disconnects.
    This looks really promissing.
I am pretty sure that the WRT610N have a problem in the switching part of the router specially when it has to switch from 1G to WIFI. I bought the WRT610N to get HDTV on WIFI and Cisco markets the DMA and WRT610N as a perfect match. But it definately have problems - i still do not understand their silence about this.
I will come back with the last results when I have them
    /John

  • Vista PPTP disconnect crashes Time Capsule

PPTP VPN pass-through on Time Capsule's Wi-Fi Airport connection works well when using Microsoft XP, Mac OS X 10.5.2, and the iPhone PPTP VPN client. It connects fine using Vista but, on disconnecting Vista's PPTP client, Time Capsule crashes and reboots. This issue is consistently repeatable.
The Time Capsule was purchased last week with Firmware Version 7.3.1 and my Airport utility has been updated to version 5.3.1 on both the Vista and OS X machines. Does anybody know of a fix for this issue?

Same problem even after upgrading to 7.3.2.

I connect my iPod to my laptop with a working usb cable. The computer recognises the iPod as is shows up as a drive in "My Computer". But as soon as I open iTunes program, iTunes recognises the iPod for a few seconds, then automatically disconnects from the program and the computer.
Only after updating my iTunes to 10 have I encountered this problem.
I have tried all the suggestions on the apple forums and others to no avail.
    THE WORK-AROUND
Calling this a work around simply because it is definately not a solution. and developers should really get off their backsides and fix this bug.concerning the problem of iPods (particular the older models) automatically disconnecting.
When connecting the iPod to the computer (NOT IN ITUNES), open the iPod drive through "My Computer", keep that window open as a folder, then proceed to run iTunes. This should allow you to use iPod through iTunes as normal.
NOTE: this is not a superfix and may not work for everyone, but it won't hurt to try. for more drastic but permanant solution, switching to 3rd party software might be for you. I have tried Songbird and had no problems link: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/29716/heres-five-alternatives-to-itunes-10-for-ea sily-managing-your-ipod/
    Hope this helps. Peace

I'll give this a shot, thank you for posting. I don't want to say I'm glad it's a bug but it's better then two brand new ipods in 10 days being crap.

  • Lost printer sharing after adding WRT160N; Vista home, XP on wireless network

Help please..Need to get printer connection lost when FIOS Actiontec router wireless G replaced with WRT160N.
All worked fine 3 months ago; Printer hardwired to Vista desktop; router was Linksys WRT160N, my XP laptop could connect wirelessly to that printer.
    -then, switched from RCN broadband to Verizon FIOS; modem replaced by Actiontec wireless G router for internet and tv, losing the Linksys. I was still able to use the Actiontec's G signal to find the printer through the network; so, still OK.  But Not happy with G speed;
    - so daisychained the Linksys as secondary hardwired to the Actiontec to act as an access point for wireless, shutting off the Actiontec wireless signal.  Worked great for N internet connection; but now cannot connect to printer.
Coincidentally, a different printer/fax machine replaced the original printer; Aficio brand.  No drivers were added to the other pc's for this printer.
Third change; security went from WEP to WPA2-AES.
Net result; my XP pc's can still connect to router and internet; but cannot install the new printer completely.
my XP laptop shows the printer, but gets error "spooling service not running".  an XP desktop doesn't even show the printer when browsing to add printers; it gets stuck at error "cannot add a printer not in the trusted network".  Named all computers as WORKGROUP and did the windows network set-up.  I also have McAfee antivirus on the Vista home pc; but have Norton Symantec from Comcast (long story!) on the 2 XP pc's; so I cannot fully identify and manage the three pc;'s on the network.
    my ideas;
    1. change WPA2-AES back to WEP; just to see.
    2. could put McAfee on all three pc's, if that would help.  rather not, i prefer the Symantec.
    3. try to configure so that all devices are identified clearly on the network, and managed.
    4. ? try to load drivers for the printer, onto the XP's.  Maybe easiest to do this by hardwiring them directly to the new printer.
    any suggestions?
    thanks, pdoyle

How you have connected this both the routers to each other?
    LAN - to - LAN
    or
    LAN - to - WAN ?
Is your Printer is connected to the Actiontec router or is it connected to the Linksys Router?

  • Mini connects then disconnects from Windows Vista

I recently upgraded to Windows Vista Premium, and my 80gig iPod connects and syncs no problem to iTunes 7. I also have a 4gig mini that when I plug in the USB cable, Vista configures successfully and I can see the iPod as a drive and in device manager, and all is well until I open iTunes. As soon as I open iTunes, the mini shows up, but then Vista says it disconnects, then it reconnects, then disconnects, over and over. Has anyone else had this problem with Vista and their Mini??? Anything I should try??
    4GB Mini   Other OS

I left it plugged in over night and there is no change... I actually have 2 Mini's and the problem occurs with both, but not with the new 80GB iPod.
