WRT160N with PS3 "IP Fragments..."

A run down... I've spent many hours googling trying to figure out what the problem is and I cant seem to find out. Hopefully someone here can give me a hand.
When I run connection tests on my PS3 i'm getting NAT type 2... but! It says "The router in use may not support IP fragments and the communication features of some games may be restricted"
I cannot join any of my friends games (it just gives me the error that I cannot connect to host) nor can I join anyone in voice chat.
I've figured out my MTU, its 1500, default....
I've forwarded all my ports...
Toggled through different wireless channels....
Put my PS3 in DMZ...
None of it seems to work! I don't know what it could be, I had the same problem with my Belkin Wireless N router (Model F5D8233-4v3) so I went out and bought this Linksys router, but I'm still getting the same problem
Before when I ran off of my very bad Dynex Wired router I was fine (hard to believe considering they make terrible products) and had no problems what so ever

To open NAT on your PS3 you need to change certain settings on your Router as well as on your PS3. You can try to change these settings and it will make NAT type open on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...

WRT160N with PS3 - streaming video problem

Hi there, I recently upgraded from a netgear wireless router to a WRT160N. I run video streaming from my PC to my sons PS3 using windows media player. Prior to the upgrade, I was able to run this fine. Since upgrading however, the media streaming works but on a regular basis, the video just freezes. When I pause the video using the PS3 console, then restart it, this mostly clears the problem. It's only started happening since upgrading. I've tried watching other video files that I know work but have the same problem.
Anyone out there have any suggestions? Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion but this made it worse. I did however manage to find a workround in which I gave the PS3 a static ip address which was within the ip range (192.168.1.120) and on the wireless router itself, I adjusted the settings. I opened the webpage of the router http://192.168.1.1 applications and gaming tab - DMZ and typed in the destination address of 192.168.1.120. The freezing of the video files has now stopped.

Make Eyebeam 1.5 work threw WRT160N with firmware 1.02.2

I have an eyebeam 1.5 that I have tried and tried to get to work with my WRT160N with firmware 1.02.2 with zero sucess. The Eyebeam will work perfectly when hardwired to the cable modem but will not work via the WRT160N wireless router. Please help and tell me what to do do get this to work. The eyebeam does not use an ip address to connect to the service but rather a domain name netcenter.republicsolutions.net. In the settings IP address is set to discover global address STUN is turned on and is set to discover server and ICE is enabled as well and xtunnels is set to never. In the presence tab it is set to "peer to peer". In the security tab signaling transport is set to "automatic"
Also the Eyebeam works perfectly on the wirelss router at work so this is indeed a Linksys issue.

Well try to upgrade the firmware of the router which can be downloaded from the Linksys/Cisco website. Once the firmware is downloaded, you can proceed with the firmware upgrade even without Internet connection.
• To prevent upgrade failures make sure that your computer is connected to the router using an Ethernet cable for stable connectivity. Upgrading the firmware wirelessly may cause permanent damage to the router since wireless connection may be unstable during the process.
• Use a different Internet browser if Internet Explorer doesn’t work or use a different computer to perform the upgrade.
• To prevent failure disable firewall to ensure that the upgrade will not be disrupted.
• Make sure that you downloaded the correct firmware and version for your device to prevent technical problems that may damage the router.

After upgrading it is recommended to reset the router, then reconfigure it again and then check the status.

WRE54G doesn't work with PS3...

I bought yesterday the range expander WRE54G because I would like to expand my WiFi singal and make it accesible to my PS3.
I configured de range expander and it works fine with all my electronic gadgets with WiFi, but it doesn't work with PS3. My PS3 is always contecting and disconecting... And, curiously, when i connect PS3 directly to my router, using wifi too, it works fine...
What can i do to solve this problem? I only bought it to use with PS3.
i put the same SSID and chanel of the router wifi to the range expander... I think it must be in that way, no?

You have correctly setup the WRE54G if you have same SSID, wireless channel and wireless security on this device and the router. The range expander will reduce the wireless connection speed by Half. So may be your connection drops because of lower connection speed.

I use my ps3 online gaming, is the airport extreme or the airport express be compatible with ps3? Is it going to be a better connection compair to other router? Which one is a better choice for me, airport express or airport extreme??

I bought linksys EA3500 router. Its still in the box and before I open it I want to learn more about the apple airport router, is the apple going to work with my online games with ps3? I have iPad, 2 iPhones, apple tv and Mac mini. If the airport express or airport extreme is a lot better and will work for ps3 which one should I get?

Airport will work with PS3. From what you've stated, the Extreme is more than you need. Buy the Express.

Red spots on TV with PS3

Hello All,I have brought PS3 + Sony R56C 40" last week. What I observed is, in PS3 view, if I move the setting to 1080i or 720p or 568p, I am getting lots of red dots on the screen. It is working fine in 1080p mode. But if I play game like KillZone3, I see that it gets changed to 720p and the same story of Red spots continues. Im feeling helpless and I am not sure whether its the TV or the PS3 that is having problems.Do you guys have any suggestions..I am clueless

The people over on this link seemed to resolve their problem by using a hdmi amplifier.

I actually figured a better solution which was putting the fix right into VASTTrackingProxyElement.as so that VAST2TrackingProxyElement.as just inherits it, since I saw same issue with VAST1 ads as well!

HT4437 How do I get my Air Play to access my two WD Share Space and my booklive duo?. Able to access with PS3 but not Apple TV Ver 3. Have all my movies and music on it and do not want to have a computer on for it.

I had bought two Network Drives so I could watch my own movies anywhere in my house and clear up the clutter of all the DVDs, Blurays and CDs, Works greate with the PS3, Bought the Apple TV version 3 because it was smaller and resently bought the IPAD 3 and have the IPHONE 4S and other apple products.
My wish is to access my Network drives with the Apple TV - I have herd of Jailbreaking it (Not Avalible from where I can tell for the Version3) - but why didn't Apple ever think of accessing a Network drive and is their a work around for this? Should I just shutup and wait till Jail Breaking is avalible for the Version 3?.

I'm sure they did think of it, but quickly discarded the idea because of the horrendous user experience this causes.

Droid Razr 4G Mobile Hotspot Issues with PS3

I am hoping someone else had this issue and has been able to resolve. I just got a Droid Razr this week, and I have the 4G mobile hotspot feature. I am trying to replace my slow DSL line at home, and most things in my house have tested fine (Internet access, etc.). However, my PS3 seems to have some issues, particularly with online gaming and testing the network connection. The game I am testing now is COD MW3. I thought maybe something like IP ports were blocked on the phone or 4G network, but searching online seems to indicate that isn't an issue. If I reconnect my PS3 back to the DSL, online gaming and network tests work just fine. Move it back to 4G and the game won't connect and the network tests don't complete.
I don't see any features on the phone that would indicate that you can modify any firewall like settings. Anyone else experience similar issues? Thanks in advance!

I'm having the same issue with my Samsung 4g hotspot as well. I can get onto the PSN, download game updates just fine, but when I'm in a MW3 lobby, it just sits there and eventually times out and a XMB message displays that i've been disconnect from the wireless access point. Anyone have any ideas?

Test your HDMI cable and monitor on a known good PC.
Be sure that the PS3 video is set 16 x 9 and the video output is set to AUTO. Review this document.
Only connect one active video source to the monitor. With the monitor powered up, use the Source control on the front bezel to toggle to the correct video input. VGA--> DVI--->HDMI is the default sequence. If you want the default to be HDMI then you will need to change the default source setting in the monitor's menu.

Unable to get open NAT and UPnP unavailable with PS3

I just got my Jetpack couple days ago and was testing out the performance of it to see if I should drop my cable and keep the Verizon 4g. So far, it has been pretty good. I am seeing download speeds twice as fast, 24mbs, and upload speeds nearly 10x as fast. Latency is alright, as it closely matches cable. This seems to be a great thing with my laptop doing all the typical things. But then I wanted to see how it was with my PS3. After many connection issues, I finally connected, but NAT is type 3 and UPnP is unavailable. With cable, I was open and had UPnP. I have searched about how to fix this, and some say it isn't possible with Verizon while others say add the PS3 to DMZ or open certain protocols for the PS3. I have tried everything people said, that I could do with this modem, and nothing works. Any ideas on how to make this work, or do I just drop Verizon and retain my cable internet?

been having the same problem but to my x-box and i have an x-box wifi adapter hooked up just cant get on becuase for some reason i got a strict network through this hotspot. Also it is a sweet internet service, but i would like to talk to people while playing games.

IMac sync with PS3

Well, with the new PS3 update, the PS3 can connect to Media Servers. I have been trying to connect the PS3 with my computer wirelessly. I own an iMac and an Airport which gives me a wireless internet connection for my iMac, MacBook, PSP, and PS3. The Airport also gives a wireless printer connection to my iMac and MacBook. I was wondering if anyone knew how I can connect my PS3 to my iMac so I can obtain Music, Videos, and Photos wirelessly from the computer and place it in the PS3. Can i use the Airport as a channel? Need Help please!!

My Router Wont Connet With Ps3

Hey, ever since the 2.41 update for the ps3 came out, ive been having more problems than ever with my router. I've set up several ports and put in the data for the ps3's mac and also inputed data for the i.p adress. The problem is, whenever test my settings it never connects, and after a while my playstation will get the i,p adress 169.254.32.6 which i found out is ICAANS. Can anyone help?

You can't. The only devices that iTunes can sync are Apple devices.
If you have content in your iTunes library that is compatible with the PS3, then you can use it in the PS3 independently of iTunes. Add it using the instructions that came with the PS3.
