WRT160N with PS3 - streaming video problem

Hi there, I recently upgraded from a netgear wireless router to a WRT160N. I run video streaming from my PC to my sons PS3 using windows media player. Prior to the upgrade, I was able to run this fine. Since upgrading however, the media streaming works but on a regular basis, the video just freezes. When I pause the video using the PS3 console, then restart it, this mostly clears the problem. It's only started happening since upgrading. I've tried watching other video files that I know work but have the same problem.
Anyone out there have any suggestions? Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion but this made it worse. I did however manage to find a workround in which I gave the PS3 a static ip address which was within the ip range (192.168.1.120) and on the wireless router itself, I adjusted the settings. I opened the webpage of the router http://192.168.1.1 applications and gaming tab - DMZ and typed in the destination address of 192.168.1.120. The freezing of the video files has now stopped.

  • WRT160N V3 streamed video problem

I am getting frequent stoppages in streamed video, a message appears on my laptop saying "loading" and a red line beginning traversing the screen. Eventually the line gets across and the video begins again to stream. When I do a speed test I get around 10 Mbps both through the router wireless and hardwired connections. This happens almost every 10 minutes. I have tried rebooting the router and the problem persists. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Try the followinf steps:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Make the wireless Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings for both 2.4 GHz:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
    Then check the wireless status..

  • Streaming Video Problem

    Hi
I'm having a problem playing streaming video with quicktime. It's mostly fine but I cannot play streaming video in some websites (I have to find out the URL and enter it directly) and I cannot play any streaming videos in iTunes (only downloaded videos). I have the latest versions of Quicktime and iTunes and have tried re-installing and using the older ones.

Just out of interest is all video streaming running like this, if you go say to the apple tutorials do they load and play correctly ?. If they are ok it may be a long shot but you may need a codec or something like that. Goto http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/flip4mac.mspx have a read and download the quicktime plug-in

  • Solution to IE 7 Streaming Video Problems? - Install Foxfire!

For the past several weeks I have been tracking suggestions to fix the problems with streaming video many of us have been having after installing Internet Explorer 7, like the question mark over the Quicktime symbol or error messages. I've tried proposed solutions from Microsoft's forums and Quicktime's forums. I've changed all kinds of settings, registry edits and unistalled and reinstalled IE 7, Quicktime, Real Player, Windows Media more than once.
Finally, this morning I decided to download Foxfire 2 - only 5.4 megs. Haven't used it for more than three hours so far, but I have gone to every video site at which I was having problems and FOXFIRE HAS PLAYED EVERYTHING!
The best way to get Microsoft to quit distributing software with bugs is to choose an alternative until MS improves its quality control.
    Windows XP SP2
    AMD Turion 64 chip
ATI Radian Xpress 200M graphics card
    Norton Internet Security
iMac & HP Pavilion L2000 Windows XP SP2 & AMD Turion 64 chip

Just for the sake on anyone who reads this and tries to find it, the browser's name is Firefox, not Foxfire.

  • MSI HD 6870 Twin Frozr II and Streaming Video problem

Card doesn't like ESPN3.com (using IE8 browser). Video while watching Sports on ESPN3 will become distorted, change colors, background shadows, horizontal lines, turn Green (like Monochrome) or washed out.
Sometimes fixing itself and appearance is Normal. Eventually every 3 to 5 minutes, sometimes a bit longer, will get this Windows Message.
"Internet Explorer has stopped working" " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.(close program).
" This Tab has been recovered " which IE8 will Refresh and work.
Does not matter what AMD/ATI Driver I am using 8.796 from MSI website or 8.801 from AMD. (Both are most recent).
Have used various resolutions provided from various forums (MSI, Guru3D, TechPowerUp, AnandTech). Uninstalling Drivers, Driver Sweeper, Ccleaner, deleting folders, going to Safe Mode, etc:.
Microsoft has had me Disabling Add-Ons, defaulting everything under IE Tools, Uninstalling IE8 and also their Fix-It program.
So far only time I do not have this problem is when I am using Windows Standard VGA driver.
This indicates that it must be a AMD/ATI Driver issue. So far only occurs on ESPN3.com (was ESPN360.com) when watchin a game -streaming video as aware of pertaining to my usage.
The HD 6870 operates fine for most part,
Other Issues: whenever I want to run 3DMark 2011 or Unigine Heaven 2.1 Benchmarks after restarting or Boot up of computer I have to reinstall Driver.
Reason: the programs says I do not have DirectX 11 compatible Hardware, therefore once I reinstall the Driver then the program identifies the card properly.
Other, sometimes running IE8 when I move the Mouse or Scoll the Screen will Flicker this happens with Driver 8.801 but not all the time.
As mentioned conflict between Driver and IE8. (can Microsoft and AMD ever work together or are they enemies, guess MS loves nVidia)

Using a different Browser.. well I have a few years back... don't know exactly why I keep returning to IE. Guess it has to do more with Visual Appearance and not having as many Gizmos
so IE is simple even with its Flaws. But thanks for suggesting it.
I used my old PC, Compaq Presario 5423US uses WinXP Pro 32bit, that I gave to my daughter when I built this one in May 2008 (I use Vista Ultimate 64bit).
I didn't realize it has the same problem when watching sports on ESPN3.com. (IE has stopped working-message only..... not all the whacky video scenarios).
I checked and my daughter did update hers to IE8. ( I always liked IE7 better but MS makes it hard as with all those Hot Fixes and SP2, SP3. etc.
So the whole problem is MS Internet Explorer 8 hates how ESPN3.com sets up their webpage .... just saying a Bug is created in the Data Packages set via Streaming Video.
If ya have a friend or capability to do so..try IE8 and watch a game on ESPN3.com  until you  get "Internet Explorerer has stopped working".
If it happens then there are issues with IE8 that needs to be resolved with that website (ESPN3.com).
anyways on my old PC there was no flickering and graphic distortions as mentioned with this PC.
    Thanks!

  • Streaming videos problem

I have a new macbook air.  11 inch.  All of a sudden, it doesn't process streaming video correctly.  The first screen shot of the video will come up, but nothing no more video for A WHILE.  Audio processes normally.  Even when the video does finally start going, it doesn't process properly.  Any solutions?
Oh, and webpage crash a lot all of a sudden.  And the computer is generally sluggish.
    Thanks.

Okay, so I reset it and then tried playing again. Still gets to a point where it completely lags. In fact when you press pause, the film doesn't pause straight away, it has to catch up with itself and plays all the bits it is behind on if that makes sense.
And the 'other' category for storage is still full, up at 12GB at the moment.
On a side note, not sure why my previous reply says it is 'solved'. And not sure how to 'unsolve' it.

  • Problem with live streaming video after system updates

    Dear all,
I hope you can assist me on this.
Yesterday, I downloaded the following automatic updates: iLife Support 9.0.4, Remote Desktop Client update 3.4, Mac OS X Update Combined 10.6.7, Airport Utility 5.5.2.
After that, I could NO MORE watch live streaming channels. To be precise, l can properly hear the sound, but not see the video.
I wish to underline the fact that before installing the automatic updates listed above, I had a clear sound and video of all live streaming sites.
I downloaded the latest versions of JAVA and Flash, but unfortunately they didn't solve the problem.
Therefore, I am quite sure the live streaming disfunction has to do with the system automatic updates. Is there any way to uninstall yesterday's updates without compromising the various softwares and OS performance?
What else could be if not related to the system updates?
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

    Stan,
I hadn't heard of gspot before.  I downloaded it and it looks like a nice, handy tool.  Thanks.
After running it, I didn't see anything that caught my eye as unusual (corrupt file, unknown codec, etc.)  I have posted a screenshot at the following URL if you care to look.
    www.cbvideo.com/gspot/gspot-out.jpg
Now, let me add to the mystery.  I was just able to burn it without incident with Encore 1.5 and the same chapter mark locations.  There are only two things I can think of that would be possible causes.  1) something quirky about CS3, even though I've not had any prior problems in two years with it for my business OR 2) the file had become corrupted when moving from the capture computer (the older computer with 1.5) to the newer computer (with CS3).  As the file seems to be okay on the 2nd computer (plays fine in WMP and imports into both Premiere and Encore), I'm leaning toward #1.
I have been able to successfully work around the problem to finish this job for the client, but I'd still like to know what's going on for future reference.  If anyone has other ideas, please let me know.
    Robert

  • Problem with getting streaming videos to switch between each other

i have attached an fla file which illustrates the problem i'm having. it is basically as you see ...  i want to load and play an embedded movie on frame 1 and then move the play head to frame 2 or 3 etc etc where there is a new menu and replace movie 1 with movie 2 at the press of a button.
any chance someone could have a look at it for me and get it working the way i want and post it back to me ? ...
i'm a newbee to flash and i've spent 2 days now pulling my hair out trying to get it to work ...
    thanks,
    http://www.simonedwards.org/downloads/mov.fla

it's possible someone will download and correct your file but you're more likely to get help if no download is needed to help you meaning you would need to explain more carefully what's on the different frames of your main timeline (eg, an flvplayback component the plays your video).

  • Iphone 3G streaming video problem

After upgrading to OS 3.1, video streaming from youtube, msnbc.com app, etc., will play normally for 2-3 minutes, then the video will become choppy and eventually freeze completely even though the download bar indicates that all video data has transferred. I have tried doing a full restore a few times but this has not helped. Everything else seems to be working fine. Has anyone else come across a similar problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Had the same problem tried everthing. Took it to apple and they wernt very helpful!
Tried my carrier they couldn't see any problems with my account!
This went on for a few weeks, so I took it back to apple. After I had a chat with them
again, we finally found out it was my sim card! Got a new sim card and that was it back to normal.
Download check my tubes from the app store this will tell you how fast your phone is at down loading data.
I was getting 56 kbs and all my friends were getting 350+. It's a good app to keep an eye on your phone

  • WRT160N with PS3 "IP Fragments..."

A run down... I've spent many hours googling trying to figure out what the problem is and I cant seem to find out. Hopefully someone here can give me a hand.
When I run connection tests on my PS3 i'm getting NAT type 2... but! It says "The router in use may not support IP fragments and the communication features of some games may be restricted"
I cannot join any of my friends games (it just gives me the error that I cannot connect to host) nor can I join anyone in voice chat.
I've figured out my MTU, its 1500, default....
    I've forwarded all my ports...
    Toggled through different wireless channels....
    Put my PS3 in DMZ...
None of it seems to work! I don't know what it could be, I had the same problem with my Belkin Wireless N router (Model F5D8233-4v3) so I went out and bought this Linksys router, but I'm still getting the same problem
Before when I ran off of my very bad Dynex Wired router I was fine (hard to believe considering they make terrible products) and had no problems what so ever
Any help or insight would be appreciated

To open NAT on your PS3 you need to change certain settings on your Router as well as on your PS3. You can try to change these settings and it will make NAT type open on your PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
    7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
    10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...

  • Streaming video problems

I am watching the World Cup online in Sweden on my MacPro (2.66 Ghz, 8Gig ram, RadeonX1900 video card) . They have divided airing of games between TV4 and SVT. When I watch a game live on TV4's tv4play.se, it's great and I sometimes forget I'm watching on the web. When I watch on SVT's svtplay.se, it's like I get to see every other frame. It's really sticky and not fluid at all. Sometime when I start up the stream it looks like it might be okay but then it just gets sticky again.
I presume they are both using flash ( I know that SVT is and presume that TV4 is) and I have installed the latest flash 10.1 upgrade. I have been having video card issues (artifacts in my browser windows and split-second diagonal dark flashes when watching video) but I don't understand why the TV4 stream works so well and the SVT doesn't.
On my girlfriends macbook pro SVT looks good.
Does any one know what the problem could be?

Upgrade to Nvidia and 10.6.3, oh, wait, you can't! there are no Nvidia graphic card upgrades - outside of some ebay potential 1st revision cards here and there.
Flash 10.1 off loads cpu processing of Flash to GPU. That has been very effective and useful - on PCs that have been using CUDA/GPGPU longer.
10.6.3 brings new APIs. Have to see how soon and well ATI jumps into OpenCL (the 1.1 specification finally came out) so still early.

  • Bluetooth Interference with Internet Streaming Videos

If you use Bluetooth on your tablet and are experiencing stuttering from streamining services such as HBOGO and others, it might be caused by using Bluetooth at the same time since both can operate at 2.4 Ghz.
Simple fix is to change the broadcast frequency of your wireless router to 5 Ghz.
Worked for me and now I just love my tablet.

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
