WRT1900AC - Sudden/unexplianed connection drops, then "can't rejoin network"

The WRT1900AC has been excellent in my home, providing coverage to all corners of a large home.  Has allowed me to do away with the range extenders that I used previously.  Recently, users are all experiencing a drop from the network.  Devices won't rejoin even though the network appears on the list of avialable networks.  If you select the wireless network, it asks for the network key again (it shouldnt do this, of course, but the key is stored on the device or PC), and when you enter the correct key, we all get a "can't join network" message.  The only way to fix this is a reboot of the router, then all devices rejoin automatically as it should.
Interestingly, no issues on the 5 ghz network, or on the guess network.  Just the 2.4 network.
I have tired the following:
1. Reflashed current firmware
2. Checked for any IP device conflicts
3. Ran inSSIDer to look for channel conflicts -- I have changed over to 11 which is the clearest non-overlapping channel in my area
Recent changes within my environment:
1. new high speed modem (connectivity to the internet is always fine -- I am havng a wireless issue, not internet connectivity...when all devices have been dropped from the network, wired connections still work)
2. update to software on two WEMO light switches...but I doubt they are causing any issues
Of course, when I have time to work on this issue which has been causing problems all week, I find that Linksys support is closed on weekends.
Any suggestions anyone?

Try:
If IPv6 isn't required by your ISP; Connectivity => Internet Settings => IPv6 => Edit => Uncheck Enable
Media Prioritization => Enable => Check
Media Prioritization => Settings and apply accurate Downstream and if available Upstream values; Initially keep all devices and Apps normal priority
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?

Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).
What I have to determine is what has changed in the setup...from when it WAS working just fine with all devices.

  • Connection dropping - How can I ?

    Hi All
Computer model and OS as below..
I use a SAR-600E single LAN port ADSL Router.
My broadband provider says that it has no network problems
at the moment so I am assuming this problem to be a router
    problem.
Everything was OK until yesterday when I started to get connection drops. Everything will be OK but then for no apparent reason the ADSL connection light will go out, it then flickers as the modem tries to reconnect which it does every time.
This is happening every few minutes, it is doing it now as I type this.
How do I prove or check what is causing this problem ?
    Thanks.

If your DSL provider is anything like Verizon Business DSL in the office where my wife works, my first thought after reading the statement My broadband provider says that it has no network problems is: they're lying through their teeth. Download speeds there dropped to about 17 kbps the day Verizon had someone working on the phone wiring in that building; it took 10 days of them demanding someone [me] check the PCs in the office for virus infections, spyware, the DSL phone line filter, and the DSL modem before they finally sent someone out to check the wiring, after which surprise, download speed returned to normal. In other words, just because your DSL provider says they have no problems doesn't mean that the problems aren't indeed upstream of you. I'd suggest you keep nagging them to actually send someone out to check the lines in your neighborhood. From your description, it would also be worthwhile to try swapping the DSL line filter ttypically used to split voive from DSL on the same incoming line. (And if your DSL says you should check the DSL line filter yourself, ask them if they'll lend you a phone company line tester.)

  • Why did my iPhone suddenly stop connecting to my home wi-fi network?

I have had the phone for about a week.  It connected to my home wi-fi network perfectly.  Yesterday, I suddenly lost connection and when I went to rejoin the network, it took me several tries and various methods recommended by other forums before it would finally connect.  Today the same thing happened, after working perfectly fine for the first part of the day.  Except now, I can't get it to rejoin at all.  Just wondering if anyone has ideas as to what the problem might be, before I contact technical support.

By the way, I didn't have any software updates, nor did I change any settings prior to this happening.

  • When my daughter connects to our home wifi she has to be within 5 feet of the modem, once she moves upstairs she loses wifi connection and then when choosing the network, it can't find our wifi network?

When my daughter tries to connect to our home wifi, she has to be in the basement within 5 feet of our modem.  Once she comes upstairs she loses the connection.  All of our other devices connect to the wifi on all levels of our house, including her Dad who also got an iphone 4 and her ipod works as well as her brother's ipod and my blackberry.  I have tried resetting the network settings to no avail. I have already had our modem rebooted through our internet provider so I know the signal is good (as well as all other devices connect to wifi) I am losing sleep over this and she is quite frustrated so any help would be appreciated.  I'm starting to wonder if it's a defect in her phone???

Is her iPhone in a case by any chance?  If so, remove the case and try again.  How does her iPhone work in free Wi-Fi locations?
    Try resetting the iPhone...
Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This may take up to 10 seconds.  This is the equivalent of a re-boot and you will not lose any data.
If none of the above work take it to an Apple store or AASP for evaluation.  She will not be charged folr this and they will suggest a solution if there is a fault.

  • I can connect, but I can't see networks!

I can connect to a known network choosing the "other" section of my airport settings, but I cannot "see" any networks. I went to the apple store and they told me that they do not know what is wrong with it. I opened the computer to see if all the insides were okay and the antenna was not plugged in, so I did that. Anyone know of a solution?

When you set up the network did you set it upp so it was a "closed" network. Making it invisible unless you click "other".

  • My Apple TV suddenly stopped connecting to the server and the network.  All devices in my house work just fine. Habe tried unpluggin, reset all settings, and disconnecting wireless and reconnecting, nothing works.  Please help very frustrating

Tried all troubleshooting; unplugged, reset all settings, disconnected and reconnected wireless
The device woked fine for over a month until today
All other devices in my home are working just fine
    very frustrating
    please help

But my current sim card works just fine in my friends iphone 5...wouldnt the logic follow that the problem is with the device itself (the phone) and not the card?

  • WPA Security Connection dropped

Okay, so I switch from WPE to WPA and everything was running great until last night when I fired up my system. My connection was no longer available and I couldn't get it to reconnect. All my pc's (Windows XP) are still connecting fine. How is it I can have access for a week and then all of a sudden I'm dropped and can't get reconnected?
Oh, yeah, I'm using a third-party (Actiontec) modem. I can't remember the model off the top of my head.

I have the same problem with my new black MacBook and a Netgear router. I can connect to the 'free' networks all around me, my Airport Extreme card sees the wi-fi network in my home that I want to connect to, and my old iBook with its lowly Airport card connected (and still does) with no problem using the '40-bit hex' option when entering the password. But now all of a sudden there are just 'errors' when I try to connect (having tried all the various options, and two different types of passwords or keys as provided by the network administrator). Oh yeah, and of course Apple Support won't help because they don't want to know about problems relating to third-party technology... We can't be the only ones with this problem!

  • Connection drop iMac to Apple TV - OSX Lion

    Hello.
Hope someone might have a solution. Ever since i changed to OSX Lion i have had a really irritating bug with my Wifi. While browsing, downloading and doing everyday stuff my connection is fine.
However when streaming movies and tv-shows to my Apple TV (2nd) i have been getting som nasty connection drops. Its not always but to often to be anoying since i havnt had this problem before.
Scenario: I can start a movie and watch almost an hour when all of a sudden the connection drops on my iMac Late 2009 - OSX Lion 10.7.3. Everytime this happens my Wifi icon turns gray and i need to shut the Wifi off and turn it on again and all works. But once it has started the connection drops every 10 min or so and i need to reboot the machine to be able to watch the movie like "normal".
The connection between my Airport Express and the Apple TV is no problem and works flawless but my Mac cant seem to handle the "heat". I didnt have this issue on SL so im a bit bugged about it.
    RSSI: -45
    SPEED: 130
    This is what ive tried.
    1. Repair the permissions thru the OS, and the Command and R at start up, including the "resetpassword" thing.
    2. Update firmware on my Aiport Express and downgraded since it just got worse.
    3. Updated the airport utility, but needed to install back the old one since the new for Lion doesnt support the switch between 2.4 and 5.0 band.
    4. Reset PRAM
    5. Reset SMC
    6. Rebuild the connection by deleteing and resetting the router.
    7. Done some cleanup with OnyX.
Now im out of ideas since nothing seem to work and i hate that i have all this Apple gear for thousands of dollars and the f**** Wifi ruins everything.
    Anyone?
    Cheers
    Chris

    I have the same issue

The iPhone is working, as designed and advertised.  In this case, the user failed to educate themselves properly, either by proper research or asking the right questions, before purchasing the device.
I understand that the OP failed to do research. But then, I wasn't replying to the OP. I was replying to Chris. I have Verizon. I can talk and use data at the same time with my Droid Maxx. Therefore, the problem is not just with the network. It would be technically possible for an iPhone to do that on Verizon/Sprint if Apple had chosen to use a different chip, such as the kind other phone manufacturers have elected to use.
Of course, this is probably all irrelevant to the OP's issue. It was merely a point of clarification, especially for those people who are used to being able to use both voice and data at the same time on Verizon. When they switch to an iPhone, they are often surprized at the limitation.
    Best of luck.

  • My Xray's battery suddenly goes to 2% then O% and turned off, It's not charging so I can't open it.

My Xray's battery suddenly goes to 2% then O% and turned off, It's not charging and I can't open it.  What could be the problem.

Try to connect the charger (long time) and turn on the phone.
When fully discharged battery, it takes a long time before it starts charging.
Do not discharge at the battery completely !
Attention to high temperatures (sun, car, etc)
If that does not work try another battery or charger.

  • HT1212 After working perfectly for two years my iTouch has suddenly stopped connecting to my Hub.  I have tried everything I can think of to get it working again but to no avail.  My desktop computer still works through the same hub

After working perfectly for two years my iTouch has suddenly stopped connecting to my Hub although my desktop computer still connects.  I have tried everything I can think of, including suggestions off Google/You Tube but nothing makes any difference.  Any ideas.  Surely it is not fit for the scrap heap after two years, but is clearly no use as it is.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Broadband drops then cant even connect to HomeHub2...

I have intermittent drops like many people but then when it drops I can’t even connect to the HomeHub2 settings page. I usually just reset and its all ok but this can happen multiple times per day. It happens most regularly when downloading large files.
I am reasonably adept with IT so my instincts tell me it’s a hub fault. Perhaps exacerbated when thrashing it with downloads. Note this still happens with no load as it can be frozen when I get in from work. Sometimes if left it will come back to life on its own.
Also when it does drop all four lights on the hub are still solid blue for the duration.

Sorry I didn’t make myself clear. When it drops, all devices loose the internet. The wireless devices still say connected to the network but no internet. The laptop and smart phones loose all internet and can’t get to the hub settings page either. I just said the Ethernet PC is in the same boat to head off the usual "it’s a wireless issue" reply. That means it has to be the hub right?
It also happens when the Ethernet connected PC is off entirely and only smart phones and a laptop are using it wirelessly. Same symptoms. No internet, no response from 192.168.1.254 HomeHub settings and all blue light are on.
I have changhe my wired PC MTU to 1458 anyway.
