WRT1900AC(v1) Stability on new FW 1.1.10.167514
On the previous firmware, the router needed a reset once every 2-weeks or so.I upgraded to the new FW1.1.10.167514 couple of weeks ago. Followed all the usual procedure. Factory reset, flash new FW, factory reset again, configure from scratch etc. Now clients on 2.4 GHz disconnected almost every 3-4 days. Power off and on on router restores connections. I have only two devices connecting on 2.4 GHz using 11n. Router is using channel 11, and 802.11n only for 2.4 GHz settings. These settings have worked all along w/o issue. Looks like something is changed in this new FW. Is there a link for previous version of FW or a way to safely go back to old firmware (one version back)?
Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html to find out. Use v3. How many?
WMM Support must be enabled for single wireless N mode to function.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

I haven't seen any issues so far using this version of FW...

What are the new gestures for touch screens?
According to the help file with the Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise build 9879 the same gestures that work on Windows 8.1 are supposed to work on Windows 10.
I cannot get swiping down from the top of the screen or the bottom of the screen to function in Modern apps. It worked fine on the same computer (Dell Venue 11 Pro Core-i5) in Windows 8.1. The touch screen works for other gestures such as swiping in from
the left or right, selecting, etc.
So to close an app, I can no longer swipe down from the top. I have to tap the X in the upper corner, or bring up the new switcher and close it from there. It's also difficult to bring up the additional menus in Modern apps. For instance, the Mail
app has menu options to move a message to a folder. I used to be able to swipe up from the bottom to bring up the menu items. Now I have to try to tap the ... in the lower right corner. On a smaller display, this is difficult.
I also noticed that ALL apps run on the desktop now. When launching a Modern app such as the included Mail app or the Facebook app from the store, they run on the desktop in a windowed mode with the taskbar visible. You can maximize them, but they are just
full screen windows on the desktop. They don't run in full screen mode like in Windows 8.
Windows 10 was supposed to add back features from Windows 7 to make it easier to navigate with a keyboard and mouse while retaining the existing Windows 8 functionality for touch screen devices like tablets. The current build is much harder to use on a tablet
than Windows 8.The latest update was just bug fixes and improved stability, no new features. That is nearly always the case with series 40 phones like the 6300.
Nokia do not make the changelogs available publicly but often they do appear on unofficial sites. Searching google may provide you with more detailed info that cannot be posted here. -

WRT1900AC does not support L2TP connection by L2TP server name
Basically - reiterating on my issue again and the question to Linksys personnel: I’m having WRT1900AC and have the issue connecting to my ISP. My ISP uses internet access authorization by ISP L2PT server name (not IP address). Linksys router configuration allows me to enter only IP address of the L2TP server, not L2TP domain server name. This is huge issue for me as I can figure out of course the IP address of the currently active L2TP ISP server but my ISP can not guarantee that in 10-15 min the server IP will be the same. I badly need the capability to use the L2TP server NAME (not IP address) in the config field of the router setup. Please let me know when this feature will be added to the new firmware for WRT1900AC and when this new firmware is going to ben released ? Thanks!
Hmm. What I know is that, Linksys WRT1900AC allows VPN tunnels using IPSec, L2TP or PPTP protocols to pass-through the router. But you can also set your router's Internet Connection Type to L2TP. Simply click on "Edit" (next to "Type of Internet Connection"). Then choose "L2TP" as your Connection Type from the drop-down menu. Make sure your settings (Server IPv4 address, Username, Password, Connection Mode, MTU) match.

Image flickering from adjustment layer
OK so using premiere CC 2014 i get an awful flicker on video that I have applied adjustment layers to, if i remove the layer it plays cleanly but with the layer it flickers. whats the fix?
Hello Shane,
I would like to know if Adobe is working on a solution & when we might see a resolution.
Indeed. That would be nice if Adobe would even acknowledge this issue and state whether they are working on a fix or not. Even them stating that they are aware of it but not sure what the fix is would be nice too, at least we will no they are trying to work on it. As I said in a earlier in this thread, this started happening 2 versions ago. So here we are almost coming up on a year later and 2 versions later and still no fix (or acknowledgement that I'm aware of other than someone like Kevin asking for more info).
To my knowledge, no. As far as I know, we have not been able to reproduce the issue in house. If we can't reproduce the issue, we can't fix it. I've not seen the issue on my own systems.
If someone can list specific steps to reproduce the bug, and I can definitely reproduce them here on my own machine, I would be happy to write up the bug. That said, I have brought the issue up to the team and I've certainly acknowledged the issue on other threads.
For businesses problems like these are not welcome at all, and i believe most would much rather more focus on stability than new features.
My sentiment exactly. Every new update since the advent of the cloud model which seems to be approx every 4 months or so, Adobe always comes out with a bunch of new features, workflow enhancements, etc. Personally, I'd like to see an update or two with no new features and Adobe just concentrating on fixes. New features are great, but get the old features and kinks worked out first.
Yes, you see this from customers a lot. Focus on bug fixes/stability/etc, not new features. Thing is, we do fix a substantial amount of issues in every release. These issues come directly from customer reports, bug reports, our product improvement program, our beta testers, from internal testing, etc.
Here you go:
What's Fixed in Premiere Pro CC2014.2
What's New and What's Fixed in 2014.1
And these aren't even the complete lists of fixed items. The bottom line is that it is a very fine line to walk, balancing between what's wanted and what's needed. That said, focusing on certain areas of concern, like performance and stability are still done. For example, After Effects has had relatively few features over the past year because they are focusing on performance (and have indicated they are doing so).
If you'd like the Premiere Pro team to focus efforts on stability, for example, by all means, let those that are in charge of the product know how you feel in a feature request/bug report here: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
IMO PP is the best editing software out there. I am understanding that no software is 100% perfect (bug free). There are endless different user configurations, hardware configurations, etc that there is no way PP will run 100% perfect on every system out there.
For sure. In my own configurations, my MacBook Pro has been solid in OS X 10.8.5 for some time now. I was gun-shy at updating to Mavericks because QuickTime is treated so differently now. I must say, that I've not seen any of these odd issues seen by Mavericks and Yosemite users at all.
My i7/Quadro 4000 Windows system on 8.1 has also been flawless.
For me, it's not easy testing these issues because everything I run "just works."
But if Adobe can at least address the most common major bugs such as this flickering one which appears a major problem across a broad spectrum of users that would be great.
We definitely would if we could reproduce the issue. If you have set steps to reproduce the issue every time, please let me know. I certainly would love to help solve the issue for users that are having the problem.
Thanks,
Kevin -

Preparing to Upgrade
As a best practice, IronPort recommends preparing for an upgrade by taking the following steps:
1. Save the XML configuration file off of the appliance.
2. Suspend the listeners.
3. Drain the mail queue and the delivery queue.
4. Re-enable the listeners after you upgrade.I haven't upgraded to 5.5.0 yet, but I was very excited to learn about end-user whitelists and blacklists, which is something we'd been pushing for since we bought our Ironports. Unfortunately, it looks like it's being implemented in a way that makes it impossible for me to deploy at this time.
We have two C350s, and would need the whitelists and blacklists to appear on each box. It appears that I could do this by exporting the database from one machine, transferring it to the other, and then importing it. However, this appears to ONLY be able to be done via the GUI.
This is a showstopper for me, because I do not want to have to log into the Ironport every day to import and export the databases - I would want to automate it. I talked to technical support, and it appears that there is no way to do this via the CLI.
My feature request is this: please consider adding a command that would allow me to remotely force the database to be dumped, and another command to import the database.
Ideally, it would be something like:
safelistconfig dump
safelistconfig import
If that was available, I would make my users a lot happier with this feature. -
Adobe flash player 2014 won't install on Mountain Lion
Suddenly last week flash player stopped working on my MacBook Pro - Mountain Lion. I tried downloading the new version but it kept timing out and ending with an error message. Even when I unlocked my my security settings to allow downloads from anywhere. I was able to download some version of Adobe Flashplayer via an alternate site - softpedia, but only some videos will work with that and with others I continue to get the alert to upgrade. I tried calling Apple, but of course they wanted me to pay to have them help me solve what is essentially THEIR problem as I see it. Only as a last resort.
C.I've have this problem come and go, and come back again.
FIX: The best fix so far for me is to go back to Flash Version 13. The say Flash Player Version 13 is in "extended release". I am on Mac osx 10.7.5 the last version of mac operating system for my machine.
Find it here: for browsers, it may have the strange name "plug in content debugger", I think the word "plug in" matters for browsers. The other "projector" versions I don't know about. The "plug in debugger version 13" fixed my safari problems.
https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Fix 2: You must disregard the constant signaling to update to version 15 if you are getting it. The update to version 15 may load a broken version in the browser, then you have to uninstall it with their special utility and reinstall version 13. Get the uninstall download here (or search for adobe flash uninstall on the web):
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html#main_u ninstall
More Possible Explanation: Apparently the weird name "debugger" means they have debugged common problems with it. Essentially you are going back to the previous version since the new one has problems loading/working (keeps getting identified as out-of-date so it won't work) but they don't want to pull the new version off the market, can you imagine that mess. Thanks Adobe for the extended release we depend on it!
Here is adobe's comment on it:
EXTENDED SUPPORT RELEASE - FLASH PLAYER
What is the extended support release?
Adobe makes available a version of Flash Player called the "Extended Support Release" (ESR) to organizations that prefer Flash Player stability over new functionality. We have created a branch of the Flash Player code that we keep up to date with all of the latest security updates, but none of the new features or bug fixes available in our current release branch. This allows organizations to certify and stay secure on Flash Player with minimal effort.
10/14/2014 - Updated debugger and standalone versions of Flash Player. These players contain fixes for critical vulnerabilities identified in Security Bulletin APSB14-22. The latest version is 13.0.0.250 (Win and Mac). All users are encouraged to update to these latest versions. -
After updating to my N82 to the next available update (My phone is on o2 UK) When I go to gallery to see my Images & Videos, it doesn't open them, just says "No images or Videos. Before I did the update I had over 100 on the card. I did the update without the memory card installed.
If I go to Life Blog though, I can see the pictures in there?!
Also, My songs are still on the memory card-so there must deffinately be some software glitch on the phone.
Also my battery isn't as good as it use to be, I wished I had just stayed on V 10.0.046 now
Any help or suggestions please?
I have already tried re running NSU and re installed V 20

iPhone V 2.2
Solved!
Go to Solution.i have a feeling that the gallery is reading images and videos that have been saved on the phone memory, so as such they may still be in your memory card or if you haven't saved them there, then they would have been deleted. this deletion or non-reading would have been a result of the software update unfortunately although i have read that recent Nseries phones such as your N82 have UDP (user data preservation) which should ensure that no phone data gets wiped when software updating occurs. battery life may suffer as a result of new features or improved functioning of the phone, this is an unfortunate sacrifice of the stability and new features brought about by software updates. as such, you cannot rollback to the old v10 firmware, it is said that even if you request Nokia Care Centre staff to do this, then the phone will be permanently bricked.

I'd like to buy the nokia 5800 on the orange website, but i'm not sure if i should.
I heard theres many problems with it, and its not good.
I'll like to get a touch phone and i don't want to pay too much for it.
If you have nokia 5800 tell me why its good or bad.
Also if i buy it though online, orange website will i get the 8GB and the case for it?Good:
Lots of apps and games (despite what Apple said in WWDC earlier this month!)
Simple to use interface
Flexibility: accessories, memory cards, etc
Lots of great themes to make the UI look exactly how you want it to
Regular software updates that add stability and new features
Good GPS software that comes bundled with the phone for free (Nokia Maps 3.0 Beta is great!)
Value for money: a good device at a reasonable price
BBC iPlayer! There's an iPlayer app that lets you download shows and watch them on the move. It works really well on the 5800. I watched the latest episode of Top Gear on the train to work this morning!
Bad:
Nearly 16mm thick (but you get used to it)
Poor screen visibility in direct sunlight
Resistive screen needs pressing rather than touching (you get used to it)
Inconsistencies in the interface (single-tap vs double-tap: Nokia is apparently working on this)
I'd highly recommend this phone. As shayesta said, all 5800s come with an 8GB card in the box. Nokia recently stopped including cases, although Nokia's 5800 website is a bit confusing.
A case isn't listed in the "What's In The Box", but the accompanying picture shows a 5800 in a case...

Will there ever be a version beyond 4.7 of Flash Builder?
I'm sorry if this sounds snippy but I am primarily a flex developer on the front end and c# on the backend. I have been waiting patiently for adobe to put out some news about an update to flash builder but haven't heard anything in the last couple of years. The last thing was the flash "roadmap" and that only says that Adobe will continue to support flash builder.
So, since there is no way to get in touch with anyone at adobe I'm posting here.
ADOBE, TELL US WHAT THE PLAN IS!!!
I am currently faced with a decision whether to continue with flex at all and in the absence of any news from Adobe I may have to quit my creative cloud subscription and go with Xamarin. While more expensive it also provides much more native functionality than flex and it isn't perpetually a rev behind. I also can use visual studio for tooling so I won't be waiting for and putting up with the shortcomings of an IDE that is never updated.
If Adobe cares to retain customers that are flex centric and not using flash pro to make games, they need to explain what the plan for the tool chain is. Otherwise guys like me who have been over a decade into flash platform will just leave. This really doesnt make much sense.
My question is will there be a version beyond 4.7. To say you have to choose between flash pro and flash bulder is silly, I chose flash builder when it was flex builder v1, now I expect some support and upgrades/updates or a statement that it will not be supported. I PAY adobe for the right to this information. If they no longer see me as a customer, then I will stop being a customer.
And, to say its FB 4.7 is perfect is ridiculous, especially since many people such as jbenker, have many problems with stability on newer operating systems. -
Updates for Windows 7.5 and 7.8 devices
Will Lumia devices running on Windows 7.5 and 7.8 continue to receive major updates from Nokia and Microsoft improving their stability, adding new features and addressing issues?
Is the 7.8 the last updates for them?
Will they receive continued support from Nokia or will it be stopped in the near future like support for Symbian will be ceased by 2016 ?
Solved!
Go to Solution. It will be continued support.
Symbian will cease support in 2016,maybe before that its now in maintenance mode
If i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Hi All,
I'd like to give Arch a try on an older laptop. Just some basic questions from a debian user:
1) I'd like to use xfce. I had trouble finding exactly what to download. Is there a boot-only.iso? I'd like to install the minimum and pull the rest off of the Web.
2) I'm using the debian testing release and enjoy its balance between stability and newer software. It also keeps me sharp and climbing up the learning curve. Should I try Arch's testing release?
3) That's about it. I'll learn the rest once I have it up and running.
Thanks Much,

Repeated kernel panics : Shockwave (plugin container)
Hi fellows,
So I've recently updated my 2008 MacBook to Snow Leopard after being all these years with Leopard. I did it mainly because of the internet as it was getting harder to access certain websites due to the lack of updates of Flash player and Firefox. But ironically, what seems to be causing my problem is that very thing.
I've been getting an ungodly number of crashes and errors lately, 95% of which due to Firefox crashing because of the Shockwave flash player (as well as what Firefox seems to be using, "plugin-container"). The problem is that it has also been causing system wide problems including at least four or five kernel panics in the last week, whereas the grand total of kernel panics I had experienced so far with Leopard was one.
There seems to be a common thread of Firefox users running into problems with the Flash player plugin, and a lot of people have posted different tweaks online. I've tried a few of them : first of all, I tried the usual, updating both Firefox and the Flash player plugin ; didn't fix anything. Then I searched further, ran into a guy who fixed the same problem as I've been having by updating the Shockwave player to a specific 64-bit version : I did that, updated it, and it worked fine for about a day, then it started crashing again. Afterwards, I see that Adobe offers a version of the Flash player plugin on their website that supposedly favors security and stability over new functions : installed it, and it worked fine for about a day then promptly started crashing again.
Then I thought about the tried and true method of "uninstall everything, reinstall everything", which I did. I uninstalled the Flash player plugin, the Shockwave player plugin, then Firefox. After making sure that everything was truly uninstalled (followed the steps on the Adobe website to remove the preferences and cache of the Flash player from the user Library), I rebooted (because why not) and reinstalled everything. It worked fine on the day on which I reinstalled everything ... then it started crashing extra hard again the next day.
Sensing a pattern there ?
At my wit's end, I started looking elsewhere. I downloaded Chromium to try it out. I'm still not accustomed to the interface and I doubt I ever will be, I still prefer Firefox also for the better extensions. It seemed to work fine for a while, but of course...
It is happening again.
Had a kernel panic on Chromium about a day after downloading it.
I do not know what to do. I'm pasting one of the kernel panic logs here in the hopes that this problem will be solved. I am seriously considering reverting back to Leopard right now.
Here's the log :

Hope this may help. Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to make sense of this insanity, you have my eternal gratitude.
A.And as I was browsing, I got a message showing me that Firefox and Flash player crashed again, even though according to QuickTimeKirk's advice I disabled all the Shockwave and Flash player plugins in Firefox, so they made Firefox crash while they were disabled. What sense is that supposed to make ? I'm writing this from Chromium because I cannot reopen Firefox because as soon as I open it it crashes again as well as Flash player.

Hello! So I'm new here, but a longtime Spotify user. Honestly, I have been left unimpressed and in fact quite annoyed with recent updates. Today, however, marked the first update that has rendered Spotify essentially useless on my Mac. Beyond features, this new app struggles to play a single song... on an app... designed solely for playing songs. The track length (thing at the bottom showing current place in the song) is behind by *minutes* in some songs. The play/pause button lags by about 10-25 seconds between pressing the button/spacebar and getting a response. Moving songs between playlists by clicking and dragging has become very difficult because of lagging. Just overall, a much less stable app has replaced an at least mostly stable, usable one on my computer. Is there something I'm missing? Or something I need to do, or just hold out until a new update and hope that the stability issues are resolved?
Hey
Which version of OS X are you running?
The latest Spotify version 1.0.9 works great for me.
Usually when there are problems like this, a clean reinstall of Spotify can fix the problem.
Try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem:
Advanced method:
https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/reinstallation-of-spotify
Easy method:
Download this free app cleaner. It's super easy. Download button is on the right side
http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
When you open up the app, click the search icon and search for Spotify and it will automatically find and delete all files on your computer related to Spotify.
I use it all the time and it's a really great tool. If you ever decide to uninstall an app, the best way is to use this tool.
After that, download and reinstall Spotify. -
New to BT, Speed and Stability Issues
Hiya,
I've been on BT Unlimited Broadband for just over 2 weeks now. I have a few problems, it seems:
1. Gigabit port just doesn't seem to work. I've searched this one and I do have a HH3 Type A. It works on the occasional restart, but then stops...
2. I keep ending up with absolutely unusable speed. I've had speedtest results as low as 0.69 to 0.07 mbps (at this point the BT one won't even work as it's too slow). As soon as I reset my HH everything goes back to 'normal' at 10-12mbps. This happens once a day on weekends (I'm at home more though) and maybe every couple days during the week.
3. I'm just generally finding the broadband 'flakey'. High pings, latency in gaming, sudden lag... I'm not convinced my stats look great and my profile seems to be dropping (at best it was over 16mb, I've seen it down to 10). Unfortunately I had to reset my router earlier today as the Internet wasn't usable, at that point I'd had about 23 hours of connectivity (not a manual reset) and my HEC and CRC numbers were up to about 15 million... Here's my stats after an hour and a half. Does this look normal or a cause for concern? I've not got a telephone to do a line test, but I'll see if I can get one in the next day or so if need be.

To my knowledge I have only a master socket in this flat where the router is connected via a new filter (though it's an old style socket with a BT logo top-left and a solid one-piece faceplace). I've checked wired and wireless, etc with same results.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Thank you for your advice. I did the line test with a corded phone and it seemed OK. No loud crackling or anything, maybe a bit of a faint hum, but nothing noteworthy. It dawned on me that I hadn't tried swapping out the filter and having done that the speed has gone up and the errors have gone down.
BT have also agreed to swap out my HomeHub for a Type B to fix the Gigabit issue.
Could I ask, what do you think of these results now? The other thing is... it's switched to Interleaved mode from Fast I noticed. Are there any consequences or anything I need to do since it seems I spent my whole first 10 days using a duff filter? Will it have any lasting effects on my profile/speed?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
