WRT300N 2.0 Help

How can I access the settings page of the router to configure it? I have a Wireless modem, and I want to add this router to expand the connection signal, and I don't have the CD for it. so can anyone help me find the CD for the (WRT300N 2.0)? I just really don't know what do with it right now.

ok all done but... I only see (Radio Band: Wide 40 MHz channel) is that it? and my main (Modem) is WEP key secured. and when I connect my laptop to the modem (through) the router, it doesn't work. is it because my modem is secured? but then if I remove my wep key from modem and add to the router, the modem will be unsecured. right? hope you understand me.

  • WRT300N stopped working - help!

Was out of town for the weekend, nothing should have changed with my setup. Last night I couldn't get on the network. I can only connect when I direct connect the network cable to my PC. Wireless indicates that it is working and I can connect to my wireless network but I can't get on the internet. This is the case with both of my PCs. I have tried changing out cables, resetting the router, etc. and nothing works. All lights look good on the router.
Help! I am ok to work with my laptop but need to get wireless working again to get to my desktop upstairs.

Connect laptop directly to router….check if you are online are not. If so then open routers set up page using http://192.168.1.1 …. Leave username blank & in password use admin.
Click on “wireless” tab ….change network name SSID to any non linksys name …. Click save settings.
Click on “wireless security” tab …..Change security level from disable to WEP or WPA ….click save settings.
Check on wireless computer is you able to connect to new network or not.
See if you are going online.

  • I have a wireless WRT300N and need help.

I have a vista machine which finds the connection no problem with no additional passwords, etc. I am now trying to get my laptop to see it. It asks for a wepa passphrase to find the connection. I used WPA2 on the Linksys wireless not wepa.
How do I get connected here? It is an XP laptop.
    Thank you all

go to the control panel >> network connections >> right click on the wireless network connections >> properties >> wireless networks tab >> clear the preferred network list
try connecting to the network again ..

  • Bridging two WRT300N access points

The link below is to a crude drawing of what i'm trying to do. Basically I want to connect two computers at a distance using the two WRT300N routers.

Hi , what you wanna do is not possible with the stock linksys firmware, and as per my knowledge, there is'nt a 3rd party firmware for the 300N

  • New to the WRT300N - Firmware & help needed

Hi. First off, I apologize that this is going to be very long.  I really hope someone will take the time to read it all and give me some help.
I posted about a week ago about problems with my WRT54GS.  All of a sudden with no changes, the wireless stopped working.  I tried for a few days to fix it with no luck.  I decided to order the WRT300N (I figured if I was going to buy a new one, I'd upgrade and this is the one that Linksys recommended).
I should mention that after ordering the new router, the wireless on the old one started working again but it wasn't working normal.  The signal quality had always pretty much been excellent and now it started going up & down but at least it was staying connected.
The new router came today.  I disconnected the old one and connected the new one and everything went smoothly.  Both my wired & wireless computers worked great.  Less than an hour later, the wireless disconnected.  I went to view available networks and my network (I use our last name) was gone.  I shut off the laptop and it still didn't see the network.  So I started looking at the router settings just to be sure that nothing had changed.  About 15 minutes later, the laptop found the network and connected again.  The signal quality dropped to good and has stayed there ever since.
Just for information, when the laptop is on the desk (which it is 90% of the time), it's only about 5 feet away from the router.  I have not tried to take the laptop out of the room yet.  Also more information if it helps.  I have a large "U" shaped desk.  My monitor for my desktop sits in the middle.  On either side are the speakers.  To my left (in front of me) is a UPS (plugged into this UPS is the tower, monitor, speakers, cradle for my mouse, modem & router), then the tower (I can't put it on the floor because I have physical issues that would prevent me from accessing it there).  Now if I turn my chair to the left, the desk has an upper level.  This is where my DSL modem & the router are.  They are on the end near where the computer is on the lower level.  This is the same setup we were using before.  Old router worked great for almost 2 years with signal strength at excellant on the laptop.  It just started acting up all of a sudden.  If I go back to facing center and then turn to the right, that's where my husband's laptop sits.  The only other equipment there is a calculator and a lamp and on the floor is another UPS which has his laptop (which has an Intel wireless G card in it), a laser printer, and the above mentioned calculator & lamp plugged in.
Prior to today, I had the Logitech MX3100 keyboard & mouse set.  I had purchased a new mouse (Logitech MX Revolution).  So I was using the keyboard from the MX3100 with the new mouse and everything was fine running that way for weeks before the problem kicked in.  So I don't think it's got anything to do with the mouse.  Today's setup is a little different.  I am no longer using the MX3100 keyboard.  I am using Logitech DiNovo Edge, which uses a bluetooth dongle.  I also don't think it's any interference from this keyboard since this is a pre-existing problem.
I do have a cordless phone in the room (it's on the left hand side of the desk from where I sit at the opposite end from the modem & router...also it's one of those that doesn't need a phone line)but it's a 5.8 ghz.
The old router had the option to change the channel, etc.  This one has auto for standard channel & wide channel & there's no way to change it that I can see.  Radio band is also set to auto but does have 2 choices under it (standard & wide).  As I said before, I use our last name for our SSID.  It's the same one I've been using for years.  There is no one else around here with that SSID.  Network mode is mixed.
Concerning the firmware....the information for mine is WRT300N V1.1 firmware v1.51.2.  I tried to look for an update but the only one in the list is the WRT300N V1.0.  I did click on that but the firmware version is lower and I don't want to screw anything up.  Is there a firmware update for me or not?  If so, please point me in the right direction as I can't find it.
Concerning the signal strength....would it help to buy a new wireless card for the laptop?  The Intel card has been updated with the newest software.  The card is internal and to my knowledge can only be replaced with the same card or a bluetooth card.  (Computer is a Dell XPS M140.)  I do have a card slot but I'm confused because I think Dell called it an Express Card slot and I don't know whether or not the Linksys notebook card that is recommended for this router would work in this slot.  If the card would work, is it worth the expense?
What else can I try.  I thought about moving the router furthur to the left but it would require moving a few other items and I'm not sure if the cords are long enough.  Would it help if the router & modem were not plugged into the same UPS?  I do have a regular surge protecter near where my phone is.  I would really rather leave them plugged into the UPS though for obvious reasons.
Also if it helps, I have the router on it's side with the 2 antennas on the end pointing straight up and the flat one in the middle I have angled this way.
I hope I have given enough information for some suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Thanks for the response.  I was wondering if anyone would take the time to read such a long post.  I wanted to be sure to try to give as much information as possible.
My desktop (Dell XPS400) tower is made out of metal...but the router is actually not sitting on it.  There is a shelf to the left of my tower (when I'm facing it, otherwise it's to the right of it).  That's where the modem & router sit.  The shelf sits about 3" over from the edge of the computer and it's about 7" above it.
As far as the wireless card for my husband's laptop...I'm still thinking about it.  I'm wondering if there would be any improvement in speed or the quality of the connection with the N card.
Now I just went into the router's settings and tried to make the changes you suggested.  I was able to change  the radio band from auto to wide BUT once I do that, I loose the ability to leave the wide channel & standard channels on auto.  The options for the wide channel are 3-9 and the standard are 1 & 5.  I don't know which ones are best to pick so for now I'm not changing anything.  I didn't change the advanced settings either as I wasn't sure if I could do that without changing the other settings first.
My husband has noted that he does see the quality of the connection occasionally jump to excellant.  For the most part it's staying on good in here.  We haven't brought it out into the living room yet to see what it does out there.  He hasn't needed to.  He has had it disconnect on him a couple of times as well.
I did forgot to mention in that book I wrote that we do live in an apartment building.  We are on the 1st floor in the back of the building.  Our office is between our living room & another bedroom.  There is an apartment above us.  There is another apartment on the other side of the other bedroom.  Our bathroom is across the hall from this room, other side of that is the kitchen and then there is an apartment in the front of the building.  Our front door is off the living room, a hallway seperates our apartment from another one.  There are 4 apartments on each floor.  Laundry (directly under us) & storage in basement.
I give all these details to try to get the best help.  I don't know if all this extra info is helpful or not.  We have been using Linksys routers for quite a few years now.  This is our 3rd one and our 2nd wireless one.  We have been in this apartment for a year now and had no trouble until a few weeks ago.  Previously lived in another apartment of the same floor plan in the same complex but on the 3rd floor (boy did we hate walking up those stairs!) with no trouble.
Looking forward to hearing back from  you so I can try to make the changes you suggested.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • WRT300N Help Needed

    Greetings All,
Have read alot of the bad news/problems with the WRT300N. I took the plung anyway having to replace my faithful pre-n SRX300 after a lightning strike.
The network is up and working and all of the "G" stuff seems to work fine (XBOX360 on Linksys game adapter, Slingbox on Linksys game adapter, and a notebook running a wireless g card. I started with a WPC300N but was frustrated with the speed (more 1mps then anything else). Tried all of the tricks but gave up and returned it for a 4400N. The 4400 actually seemes to work better but I still do not get consistant N-speed. The speed alway fluctuates!
I tried every suggested tweak on the router. Manual MTU helped some, but would not play well with my XBOX360. I bumped everything up in my advance wireless settings but and got a consistant 276mps, but then could not connect to the internet even though it indicated that I was connected.
Running Vista Ultimate on my main machine with the router and Vista Premium on laptops. Drivers are up to date and router has the latest firmware.
I know someone out there has cracked this egg!
    Thanks In Advance

try out the following wireless settings on the router
    1)radio band - wide
    2)wide channel - 9
    3)standard channel - 11
    4)N-Transmission Rate - 270 Mbps

  • WRT300N & WRE54G & WGA54G Need Help please

Well I have the WRT300N finally working on the home network with 11 device running. I added a WRE54G so my brother at his home from 600 feet away can surf the Net. I purchase a WGA54G so my Nephew can use his Xbox to play his Cousins on our network BUT He can seem to link up he can see our network starting then dropping off.
I know the WGA54G works fine I tested it in our house before moving it to his home. Is there some settings on the WRE54G to allow the WGA54G to get picked up and relayed ? The WGA54G is only 30 feet away from the WRE54G and yes there is no 2.4 telephones in the house. His laptop never loses signal going thru the WRE54G but that seems to be the only problem for the WGA54G going thru WRE54G
Anybody have a view on this ?

Thank you LOL I guess that would help

The WGA54G was working fine thru my house but when I take it next door so it goes thru the WRE54G I can see our network come and go , so I figure it must be signal loss so I ran a Cat 5 wire to the WRE54G and sat the WGA54G next to it and the signal still is up and down.  My brother has no Cordless house phones to interfer and the nearest nieghbor is 400 feet away.
Now my house is 600 feet away line of site and his lap top never looses signal going thru the WRE54G the Blue light is always solid
I pinged the WRE54G and it has an avg of "2ms "
I hope this new info can help.

  • WRT300N Help!

I am getting the blinking power light problem with my wireless router. I tried following the steps outlined in the solutions on this site, but I seem to be having trouble.
When I connect my router to my computer, it does not allow me to get on the internet. The steps in the solution mention this in the beginning (it says to just connect the computer directly to the intenet modem)... but then it calls for setting a static IP on your router and then upgrading the firmware.
How is any of that possible if my router isn't even connected to anything?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
your modem is just trying to find new settings.new ip address.when it asked you for a new ip address make sure you looked at all the options? cable/dsl ect. just did same thing? scroll all opt. also your computer should auto grab address without wireless router in the system.are you using XP? thats what I have.just hooked up wrt300n tonight and will try wireless part tomorrow. so far so good.wired unit OK. if I can help write back.sounds like same problem I had... also never had power lite blinking??? I would start looking at that for the wireless router..but get your hard wired unit going first.

  • Please help getting WRT300N and BEFSR81 to work together

I recently purchased ten WMP300N wireless adapters to install and run off of a WRT300N that I have used for about a year and has worked fine. I also use a BEFSR81 router. It also has always worked fine. I am upgrading our PCs and going from Win2000 to WinXP. The WRT300N worked fine w/the older machines but is not working with the newer (XP) machines. I have updated firmware and drivers on everything and that has not helped. I have tried both the Windows wireless configurer and the Linksys wireless monitor and neither works. I have tried re-wiring from the cable modem to both routers every possible way and nothing. I am guessing that there is a IP conflict here and perhaps a static IP would help?? Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Mark

let me know how are the two routers connected....which one is connected to the modem and how is the second router connected to the first router ...

  • WRT300N and xbox 360 help

    Hi.
I just picked up the WRT300N - upgraded to the latest firmware:
    Firmware Version: v0.93.9
I am using WEP security for my wireless. I can connect fine with various computers/laptops, getting good IP addresses, etc.
From my xbox 360 - fails to get an IP address.
Before the wrt300n I had a Apple Airport saucer thingy, and I had to disable security to get the xbox to get a valid IP. I do not want to disable security on the linksys - this should work.
Can anyone help out with this? Not sure what else to try here.

    Hi. . .
As You Are Not Getting An Ip Address On The Xbox. You Can Try Giving In A Static Ip Address To Your Xbox(manual). You can try
    Ip   192.168.1.x(10--99),
Dg 192.168.1.1--Please Check The Ip Address Of The Rtr. . .
On The Status Page Of The Router You Will Be Getting DNS1 And DNS2. . .
Try Inputting Those Also On The XBOX Page. . .
Let Me Know If Any Progress. . .

  • I need help to configure new wrt300n wireless and broadband router

Just purchased the wrt300n wireless-n-broadband router. The router is not being found.  I have all the cat5 cables connected. I am running windows 2000 with a cable internet connection. There are 4 wired computers on the network I am trying to setup. The internet connection is great if I run it through the modem. I have run the cd-based wizard provided with the router a couple of times. No Luck! Please help!

    you have a cable modem?
if so you need to reboot the cablemodem so it will see the mac address of the new device your adding to the network.
if you have ADSL we shall take it a stage further.

  • Problem with Wireless N WRT300N please help?

OKay so everything in router is up to date on its firmware the only problem is that everytime i try to connect to the router the signals keep on changing for example it maybe be 100% now and and a few seconds or mintes later it gets down to 40% or 20% and sometimes when the signal is 100% i am unable to connect
Anyone have any of the same issues or  can anyone help me fix the problem?
    thankyou

Well you are facing this problem due to some kind of Interference between your Wireless Connectiona and your Computer, thats why you loss the signal strength on your Computer.
First try to upgrade the drivers of your wireless Card on your Computer.
Login to the Routers GUI, For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...and then click on Save Settings...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
