  • No sound at all on hp compaq nx8220 notebook

My HP COMPAQ nx8220 notebook with Windows XP OS has no sound at all.
The Notebook has problem booting and the OS was reinstalled.
After the installation, there was no sound at all.
I do not have the driver CD for the mother board, so I down loaded the sound driver from HP website.
The installed driver looks okay from the Device Manager, but still no sound at all.

    Hi,

  • HP Compaq nx8220: SSD use?

    Hi everyone!
I have a notebook HP Compaq nx8220 with XP Home edition OS.
I would like to install Windows 7 OS.
    1) Is it possible to install Windows 7 OS in this machine?
If it's possible for sure a Solid State Disk would be faster.
    2) Is it possible to replace the HD with a SSD HD?
There are some websites that sell a special "caddy" to insert a second HD (SSD too) replacing the Multibay II Optical Drive
    http://www.tiny-buys.com/hdd-hard-drive-caddy/hp-compaq-nx8220.html
Is there some chance to make it? Any suggestion to give new life to this notebook is very welcome, because Windows XP is going to be unsupported very soon
    Thank you for your attention

    Dear Dean,
thank you very much for your further explanation. I'm sorry for my late answer, I was very busy and I tried to get as many information as I could to help also other users.
During my research I found that there is another brand of SSD IDE (Trascend):
    http://www.amazon.com/128GB-Transcend-PSD330-2-5-inch-Internal/dp/B00AQT2LRK/ref=pd_cp_pc_0
It's more expensive than the KingSpec one but it has better performance and durability I think. However this is not the real problem. If you read the feedbacks of the two models on Amazon, you can find opposite results. I don't know, it's like something that can work just for some use cases and notebooks.
Inside the following posts you can find users that tried to replace the old hard drive (Hitachi Travelstar 80 GB 5400 rpm ) with a similar one but with more capacity (160 GB) resulting also in this case in opposite results because the system (bios) can recognize just 137 GB.

    http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-EliteBook/nx8220-160GB-HDD/td-p/1024694#.Uz1tulMgre...
In practice the advice is to stay under 137 GB of capacity and with a SSD IDE 128 GB would be great I think.
Transcend's support suggested me to ask HP about that but you Dean told me that it's fine.
At this point I think that the solution is to buy the SSD IDE and try it... if it will work or not is not trival to say before the purchase.
I'm going to buy it, (maybe Trascend 128 GB because it seems to be better), and I would like to share with you the compatibility but.... if somebody already tried it inside HP Compag nx8220 please do share your results, it would be very helpful.
Dean and other users, if you have some other advices to give before the purchase, please write further information.  They would be very precious. In the meanwhile I will accept the second answer as the solution

  • WRT300N and SD2008

Hi, I'm trying to update my home network. I did have an older wired Linksys router and switch set up and everything was working fine.
I wanted to add wireless capability to my network and add a switch with more wired ports.
I'm now using the Linksys WRT300N and an SD2008 switch. I have 2 desktop computers, 2 Tivos, and 2 other wired jacks for connections.
The 2 desktops are both able to access the Internet.
The 2 Tivos can connect to the Internet for updates.
The 2 desktops can see the Tivos on the network.
The 2 Tivos CANNOT see the desktops (though they can see each other).
The laptop won't connect to the Internet or the home network via either of the other 2 wired jacks.
Via the Linksys Advisor, I can see both desktops and both Tivos from my desktop. I CANNOT see the laptop (no matter which jack it's plugged into).
(I haven't even tried to set anything up wirelessly yet.)
I don't have any clues at all how to fix any of this. I've tried disconnecting everything, reconnecting, it, recycling, etc.
    Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for the help!

In your computers, temporarily turn off the software firewall, including Windows Firewall, and see if that helps.

  • WRT300N and Gaming?

I have recently purchased a WRT300N and am having problems connecting to some of my computer games. I opened the ports on the router, but it doesn't seem like the ports actually opened. When playing Diablo II, I can be the server and have another computer on my LAN connect to me, but I cannot connect to another computer on my LAN. I also use a bit torrent program, it is telling me to recheck my port forwarding and make sure the proper ports are open. As far as other games like Rappelz go, I cannot connect to their servers to play. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

Opening ports on the router only affects connections from the internet into your LAN. It does not affect LAN connections. On the LAN side the router is basically a simple ethernet switch. If you can connect in one direction but not in the other it is usually because of a firewall installed on the computer to which you cannot connect.
Otherwise, please post the exact settings you have tried.

  • WRT300N and wireless G

I have the WRT300N and my laptop is only wireless g right now, how do I make it run in super g so i get 108 mbps instead of 54?

That is a great question.  I don't see any clear documentation of the answer on the Linksys web site.  Maybe someone else can point it out.
The general rule is that in order to get the most speed from your router, you must have a matching notebook adapter.  Since you have a wireless-N router, you can probably expect the best performance if you got a wireless-N adapter for your laptop, such as the WPC300N.
If you only use an ordinary wireless-G card, you will be limited to 54Mbps.

  • Wrt300n and wap 4400n for network in iraq

Here is what i want to do and what i have.  I need to know what else i need please:
I am in iraq trying to setup a wireless network with 2 parts.  I have the wrt300n that will be connected to the internet to setup up wireless internet and the wap4400n so that i can setup a local network.  the internet goes up and down so often that i need the local network to chat with others.  from the router to my location is about 75ft with 15ft tall concrete barriors in the way.  the wap4400n will be setup at my location.  the computers that i want to communicate with for both internet and chat are aprox 175ft in a triangle from my location to two locations with concrete barriors periodically placed.  i have not been able to test the system yet.
Question #1:  what range extenders can I use that will allow me to extend both systems.
Question #2  what do these extenders need to be connected to(power) and are these antennas able to be placed outside?
Question #3:  can the wap4400n be used as one of the extenders for the router to boost the internet signal?
Question #4:  what is the reccomended distance before you need to get an antenna booster.  I know this varies based on situation.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ray from south of baghdad.....

i don't think that the WAP4400N is capable of repeating the wireless signals..it can function only as an Access Point...so the only way to use it would be to run an ethernet cable between the WRT300N and WAP4400N...
if u want more range , better set up would be
    WRT300N -->> WAP54GP( AP Mode)   ~~~~~~ WAP54GP ( Wireless Repeater )

  • WRT300N and laptop inconsistent connectivity

Once of twice a day I boot up my laptop and find that it has lost connectivity to the WRT300N. I'm usually able to restore it by pushing the reset button or fiddling with the software (I'm never quite sure what it is that I do that restores the connection successfully).
I have security enabled and when it works, it works great. What should I be looking for in order to make the connection more stable?
    Thanks,
    Nic

It seems that router setup page is not loading 100% .....
Disable firewall & antivirus software ....
Click start >> control panel >> Internet option >> Under ganeral .... click delete cookies & files .... click clear history .... click OK ....
Try opening once again the setup page....
If it still shows the same kind of page ....try upgrading of router firmware ...

  • Discoverer and Compaq Tru64

I need to know whether or not Discoverer will run on Compaq Tru64. I heard that Oracle9iAS Discoverer Plus and Viewer simply does not run on Compaq Tru64! That this is because Compaq and Inprise, who develops the Visibroker component, can't agree on the license.
How can we state that 9iAS runs on Compaq Tru64, but a significant portion of it's ability (Business Intelligence) DOES NOT? We have a great 9iAS/Disco opportunity and need to get it running on Compaq. Are there any workarounds??? I need to know ASAP.

  • WRT300N and IP Camera

Hi, I'm trying to set up an IP camera (DCS-5300) behind a WRT300N router.  The instructions are pretty simple except that I don't see any way to set up a virtual server in the WRT300N.  I've forwarded the correct ports.  But I don't see how to create a public/private port so that I can connect remotely through a browser.  Am I missing something?
    http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1433&question=DCS-2000%20/%20DCS-2100+%20/%20DCS-5300%20/%20DCS-5300W%20/%20DCS-5300G%20/%20%20DCS-5300G_revB

First make sure that IP of the camera and router are in the same range 192.168.1.x and the port used for camera is not 80. Change the port no. eg. 8000. Forward the port 8000 for the IP of the camera on the router. Use the IP address found on the status page of the router followed by the port no. to access your camera remotely. eg. 24.88.125.13:8000

  • WRT300n and Intel Centrino 2100b

I have this Router in use (the WRT300n) as an access point. It works fine for 99% of the laptops I use on my network with the exception of the Intel 2100b network card. I can replace the minipci card with any other network adapter and it works great but should I be using an Intel 2100b card my connection will drop in and out constantly. The card has no problem with connecting to the device and speeds are similar to other cards while connected. Both of the devices are updated all the way using the latest software being the September 06 Release from dell for the Intel 2100b and the Firmware Version: v0.93.9 on the router.
I thought I might bring this to the attention of the Linksys guys here who could either get back to me on the problem (maybe there is already a fix) or they could test it themselves and fix it.

Hi… I don’t think there is any issue with either your adapter or your router. It can be a issue with the power management setting on your laptop. Go the properties of this card from devise manager and set the power management for highest. Also make sure whenever you use this card, your laptop is connected to external power source. If you still have the same problem, try changing the wireless channel on your router. You can also go to advance wireless settings and reduce the values for
    i)                    beacon interval to 50
ii)                   Fragmentation Threshold to 2306 and
    iii)                 RTS threshold to 2307.

  • Please help getting WRT300N and BEFSR81 to work together

I recently purchased ten WMP300N wireless adapters to install and run off of a WRT300N that I have used for about a year and has worked fine. I also use a BEFSR81 router. It also has always worked fine. I am upgrading our PCs and going from Win2000 to WinXP. The WRT300N worked fine w/the older machines but is not working with the newer (XP) machines. I have updated firmware and drivers on everything and that has not helped. I have tried both the Windows wireless configurer and the Linksys wireless monitor and neither works. I have tried re-wiring from the cable modem to both routers every possible way and nothing. I am guessing that there is a IP conflict here and perhaps a static IP would help?? Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Mark

let me know how are the two routers connected....which one is connected to the modem and how is the second router connected to the first router ...

  • WRT300N and a PS3 help

im setting up are WRT300N to a ps3. i currently have it connected to my pc wired and i want to connect the ps3 but the ps3 (or my Tmobile wing) can't detect the SSID at all. i've also tried entering th ssid manually but all it says is "The access point was not detected"

Download firmware from www.linksys.com/download and update it. After updating hard reset router for 30 seconds, and set all settings of router. See if ps3 finds the wireless network. If no, then set radio band to standard and standard channel to 1, and also set following advanced wireless settings: beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2306 and DTIM to 2. Now try to find wireless network from ps3.
