WRT300N no longer detecting network

Hello,
After a loss of power the WRT300N is no longer detecting the network I have setup.  Other wireless networks are shown.  I hit the reset button already, and nothing changed.  I tried to access http://192.168.1.1/ as suggested elsewhere but I am not getting an internet connection at all when the router is hooked up to my laptop via ethernet (all lights are green on the router except wireless and security).  I also attempted to add the router via Vista and it asked for the PIN which I cannot find.  I also tried to reload with the Linksys software and it could not detect the router and said to check the connection.
I am using Vista and am relatively computer illiterate.  I am a poor grad student who can't pay Linksys $30.  I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thank you.

When I got to the third step (Checking the Router’s IP Address), nothing was listed for "Default Gateway" (message below).  I cannot get to step 4 (Getting the DNS Servers from a Linksys Router) as I cannot access the site (no internet connection through the router).

My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the IOS8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!! I cannot afford to go over my data and I use wifi at home and work... I believe the updates have caused the issue, because it was working fine before the second update released (I hadn't put the first one one until I noticed it had stopped working, and by then the second IOS8 version had came out). They need to do a third update to fix this issue.

    If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.

  • Hi, My network went down earlier in the week.  Now it is fine, but my macbook airport no longer detects it and keeps asking for a WAP.  When I put the password in, it 'times out'.  I'm getting rather fed up.

Hi, My network went down earlier in the week.  Now the network is fine, I can connect through the ethernet cable, but my macbook airport no longer detects it, when prompted, macbook will find it, but I get asked for the WAP.  When I put the password in, it 'times out'.  Prior to the network problem my macbook worked fine everytime. Anyone know the answer?

My guess is all the issues are probably related and fall back to malware.
AVG is probably correct in identifying malware. So I suggest you try some cleaning tools other than Emsisoft .
    ones I use (all of them one after the other until I find one that can cope) are;
    Roguekiller http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/
    Malwarebytes anti malware Free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/var2/confirm/
    ESET online scanner http://www.eset.com/int/home/products/online-scanner/
So first create a clean boot in Windows using Microsoft's instructions https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 and then run the anti malware applications.
My outside looking in guess is that malware has set itself up as an internet proxy and is is downloading copies of itself and other malware, blocking some mail port as times as downloading more malware is more important, and probably breaking your tivo as well..
Try the malware programs first. If that does not work I will try and talk you through some logging to see what is happening.

  • MyBookLive drive no longer detectable on network

I am having trouble with my MyBookLive network drive. Ever since I rebooted it, it is no longer detectable on the network. It is correctly connected to the router but the router just doesn't seem to pick up that there is a network drive attached to it. I know it is not an issue with the router as I tried a completely different router but the exact same behavior is observed. Also this exact same setup was working fine without a problem before I rebooted the drive. The drive powers up fine and I can hear it spinning and even the LEDs next to the Ethernet cable light up; it's just not being detected on the network. So I detect it is a problem with the drive's network adapter not being able to obtain an IP address from the router. Please advise me how to proceed in order to resolve this issue.

Hi, Thanks for your replies and suggestions. The short answer is, yes I tried everything and the issue is still the same. The drive is just not recognisable on the network at all and not visible in the list of attached devices on the routers web page. The front LED on my drive has NOT worked for the past year at least, but despite that, it has never effected the operation of the drive. So unfortunately we cannot use it to diagnose the problem. I did try to reset the drive using the reset button at the back however it does not seem to do anything. I cannot notice the drive rebooting or maybe because the front LED is doesn't work, it is not obvious whether the reset has actually been triggered or no. Regardless, it has NOT resolved the problem. I did try a different router and Ethernet cable but the issue does indeed remain the same. Pinging the device fails because the drive is not recognizable on the network at all, even though it is powered on (I can feel it running) and connected to the router correctly, and even the LEDs on either ends of the Ethernet cable are alight. I tried the direct connection to the computer without a router but the same is observed. I cannot see the drive on the network and hence ping fails with this setup as well. So I think it is either an issue with the drives network adaptor or operating system. Is this something that can be repaired do you think? Thanks again

  • Ipad2 is no longer detecting ANY wifi networks.

Hi, my 9 month old ipad 2 no longer detects ANY wifi networks. Was always logged on to our own home router and in settings was always able to 'see' neighbours wifi - now nothing shows. Is this a hardware problem?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • [SOLVED] Network interface enp2s0 no longer detected

    Hello,
Yesterday after rebooting, right after Grub, systemd-fsck does its stuff (clearing blocks, etc...) then nothing.
After a quick research I've found that removing "quiet" from the Grub command line would allow more messages to be displayed, which was quite helpful.
This is in fact not a partition mounting problem, here is what I have:
[ OK ] Started Accounts Service.
[ TIME ] Time out waiting for device sys-subsytem-net-devices-enp2s0.device
[ DEPEND ] Dependency failed for dhcpcd on enp2s0.
    [ OK ] Reached target Multi-User System.
[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface.
I obviously have a networking problem (and probably a "Graphical Interface" or Nvidia related thing problem), so I log in another console, and after doing ip link list, I only have the loopback listed, no enp2s0 or WiFi interface, for some reason they are no longer detected.
I've run the live version of Arch to mount and arch-chroot my partitions, not to mention my network interfaces are detected and I can upgrade things with pacman, I've tried to disable dhcpcd on enp2s0 to avoid the time out thing, and while I can say it does what it's supposed to do, it doesn't solve anything anyway since I'm still stuck at Reached target Graphical Interface. (and don't have any network access, to state the obvious).
I've even thought about a Kernel/Driver problem after an update, but I'm not sure, any idea or some log I can have a look at ?
    Thank you for your time.

  • Network card no longer detected after hdd failure

So yeah, my laptop's hdd crashed, I cloned it to another.
It no longer detects my pcmcia card, model GCS2220.
I tried chrooting the install from livecd and reinstalling kernel, still nothing.
Odd thing is, before I chroot the card works fine, after chrooting ifconfig fails to work with eth0.

Did you bind (mount -bind olddir newdir) /dev and mount /sys and /proc (I mean that's the place wherefrom ifconfig gets its information ) from the livecd's environment into ur chrooted environment ??

  • Air port can no longer detect  Time machine or Airport express

I have a Time capsule (last generation) and an Airport Express. TIme capsule was set up a few months ago and working fine. Today I tried to Add the Airport express to the network to use it in another room. Everything semed to work OK and I got the message that the system is added successfully and waiting for AExpress to start. It took for ever so I opened the AIrport utility window again and try to re do i. I am not sure what I did wrong I can no longer detect either of my device with Airport utility to set up a secure network. MY Internet connection is fine and I can connect using the AIrport to other networks that Airport detects in the area fine also. I just don´t see the net work I configured or the devices. I sure would like to know how it got messed up and how to get out of this. I have tried unplugging and restating the time capsule etc as they suggest in Apple manuel. But I have not tried resetting the time capsule. Would this erase the back ups it already has? Please help.

  • Base station no longer detected (see post also in Airport Express Forum)

I have stuffed up configuration settings for Airport Express via the Airport Admin Utility and can't undo them.
    - Mac OS X 10.5.3 on iMAC
    - AX Model number A1088
    - Airport Utility 5.3.2
    - Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5
I originally set up AX on Tiger - no problems. I upgraded to 10.5.3 still no probs.
While trying to set up a wireless connection for my MP600R printer, I was 'experimenting' to help it find the access point. I went to Airport Admin Utility for G&S (don't know why!), clicked 'configure' and set up the base as WDS thinking this would help the printer detect access point. I had never previously touched Graphite and Snow and never set anything up.
Result was that Airport Utility/AX could no longer detect my network and I lost wireless internet connection.
I went back to Admin Utility but 'configure' button is greyed out. I tried manually connecting to network name but had password problems. I tried to reinstall AX from disc but I got an error saying AX not compatible with the selected drive (which is now 10.5.3)!! I reset AX but I can't restore passwords because AX Utility can't find my network!
    HELP!

Firmware is uploaded onto the base station itself and is different from AirPort Utility. Although you probably cannot confirm it without connecting to the base station, I think it highly unlikely that you use a firmware version earlier than 6.1.1 (which came out in 2004). If newer firmware is contained in software on your computer, AirPort Admin Utility and/or AirPort Utility should have prompted you to upload it to the base station, whereas if it is not on your computer, Software Update (assuming you use it) should have prompted you to obtain it. Even if your firmware is older than version 6.1.1, the reset procedure is virtually the same--in that case, you won't see the AX's status LED flashing rapidly a few seconds after you start holding the reset button, and you will just need to hold the reset button for 10 full seconds.
Once you connect to the base station, you should be able to see the firmware version (e.g., "Base Station Vx.x" where x.x is the firmware version) on the opening screen of AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow, when the base station is highlighted. I imagine that AirPort Utility shows similar information. I believe that in AirPort Utility, you can also check to see if newer firmware is available from Apple (choose "Check for Updates" in the AirPort Utility menu). To the best of my knowledge, the most current firmware version for AirPort Express is 6.3.

  • My 2 notebooks running XP will no longer detect the BEFW11S4 WAP, what can I do?

My 2 notebooks running XP will no longer detect the BEFW11S4 WAP, what can I do?
The connections just stopped yesterday. Both laptops work OK when connected by ethernet cables and my main PC running XP64 connected also by ethernet is not affected.
Both laptops can see my neighbour's wireless network and worked OK with my son-in-laws network last night when I took them over to his house.
Can I assume that the "wireless component has died?
Any recommendations for a direct updated replacement?
I'm currently connected to NTL broadband but may at sometime switch to Sky broadband in the future but I understand that I would not be able to do this with my NTL phone line.

    Thanks for the comments Charrie21,
    SSID Broadcast is enabled,
Of the 3 leds on the front left:
    WLAN ACT is not illuminated
WLAN Link is illuminated [According to the instruction because it is connected to a cable modem],
    POWER is illuminated.
Of the 3 leds on the front right:
    LINK is illuminated,
    ACT is not illuminated,
    Diag in not illuminated.
The router has been reset  several times.
SSID has been changed several times
Channel number has been changed several times
WAP was previously 64BIt and has been changed to 128Bit
Firmware version is the same date as currently on the Linksys web sute for this model.
I am thinking the "wireless" component is dead.

  • AirPort Stopped Working Suddenly - No Longer Detected

    Hi guys,
I've been using my iMac 20" duo core for just roughly a month, and have been connecting online via my Airport Express wireless to get online. This morning, while using iTunes and listening to my music wireless, my iTunes froze up, and all my wireless connections were lost. I tried to restart my computer, but after that, I have been unable to connect to my wireless connection. I have checked my Network status and Internet Connect, and apparently my AirPort is no longer detected (Msg: No AirPort Hardware Found). I am still able to connect via the Ethernet, but that's the best I can do. I have tried checking updates and all, and have ran the Hardware Test, but have not been able to fix this problem at all. Pulling the plug and restarting have done nothing either.
Can someone please advise whether it can be solved, or if it's a hardware issue that I have to bring down to the retailer?
    Thanks,
    Ying Loong

    Hi -
in response to the original question as to whether or not the problem can be solved, I am curious if the original poster did in fact solve the problem?
I asked these same questions back when I got my 20" Core Duo and had a very similar problem. I went so far through the AppleCare phone calls that they finally told me to take it to the local Apple Store and have them fix it. The tech did nothing. I got the computer back with a "no problems found" answer and to this very day it still has the same problem. In my case however, the computer will "see'" the network again if I unplug the computer for 15 seconds.
I have worked around the issue by connecting the iMac to the router with an Ethernet cable, but what's the point of having a wireless router and a wireless computer if the wireless doesn't work?
It's very disappointing to me, considering this is the 4th Apple computer I have owned that had AirPort built in, and it is the ONLY one that has EVER had issues. It has to be a hardware/firmware issue, because I have other AirPort-enabled computers currently on the network and they work fine and have NEVER lost the network. This is ridiculous, really - it is embarrassing to show non-Mac users my fancy new iMac, and tell them "it's great... only the wireless card doesn't work."
I haven't visited these discussion forums in a long time (essentially after realizing my problem wasn't going away I just gave up) but I see that a large number of people are still having wireless connection issues with these Intel Macs. I hope Apple is doing something to correct this issue, but I won't be holding my breath.

  • Windows no longer detecting my Audigy 4?(Non-P

Hey all. I've had my Audigy 4 (non-Pro) installed and working super for about 50 days, but it started giving me a weird problem. Windows was no longer detecting the card! It was weird. DX Diag, programs like EVEREST... they all report no sound card whatsoever.
    Here are my PC specs:
    XP Home Edition
    Albatron K8X800 Pro
    S754 3200+ ClawHammer
    x 2 OCZ ELPE 52 MB(2-3-2-5)
    Visiontek XTASY X850XT PE
    x 80 GB SATA 2 Seagate, x 80 GB Maxtor
    Some other things to note:
XP has been repaired. Went from Service Pack , updates, and all the way to Service Pack 2. The card requires XP w/SP2, yes, so I have that covered.
Onboard audio is disabled through the bios. I have AC'97 integrated audio on this.
My motherboard has fi've PCI slots - although I can only access 4 because my video card is in the way, and I have tried three of those and I get the same problem.
I have tried it in other PCs in my house, double-checked each time - so it is not ESD as I originally believed. It works just fine on those PCs. It is being not located only on MY PC.
So guys and gals, I do not know what to do... I am stumped. It's the weekend so I can't call Creative support until Monday. I don't want to request an RMA through my warranty because clearly it's just a problem with my PC. What should I do?!Message Edited by Celsius on -26-2005 07:36 PM

    Device not recognized in iTunes

  • Iphone is no longer detected on itunes/computer it is synched with.

One of my Iphones is no longer detected by the itunes/computer that it is synched with.  The computer/itunes does detect other devices.  The iphone in question is able to be detected on another computer/itunes.
I updated software oof iphone on another computer.  I updated itunes on the computer that does not detect the phone.  I rebooted both.  I tried software conflict.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve?  I have all of my contacts, apps, photos, music etc on that computer.
When I updated phone software on another computer to see if that was the problem it wiped out all music, apps, photos etc on the phone.  I have thee devices with one apple id and they are synched to different computers.

You should try another USB cable, charging and sending data through the cable is not completely the same, sending data is using other contacts inside the plug or docking connector.

  • Windows XP is no longer detecting the iphone

Out of the blue my desktop is no longer detecting or charging my iphone. It doesn't show up in device manager either.
I have reinstalled all software, drivers and no luck. All services are running.
It works fine on my laptop and charges fine on the wall charger.
I have tried my friends iphone on the desktop and it also does not get detected, so I assume it has to be some software problem.. Any ideas?

    Hello,
I have a similar problem now. Only addition is that the phone itself is not working either and when i connect to comp it results in opening of 'Found New Hardware wizard'
Did you find solution to your problem???

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED - iPhone 3Gs no longer detected or charged by MacBook

My iPhone 3Gs (3.1) has been running fine, until several hours ago today, when I plugged it to my MacBook, the iPhone is no longer detected - it doesn't show up in iTunes, nor it is charged. I tried opening iPhoto, and it wasn't there too. Not with Image Capture too. I tried charging it using the out-of-box wall charger using the same out-of-box USB cable I use for MacBook, and it can be charged without any problem. Then I put it into Recovery mode, and there iTunes can see it. I don't want to restore it before I figure out exactly what went wrong, as I don't want the restore process somehow gets stuck in the middle that the connection is lost again.
I've tried reinstalled iTunes, including completely removal of Apple Mobile Device Support, as instructed by Apple. But still no luck.
I've tried switching to another USB port of my MacBook. No luck.
My iTunes is the latest 9.0.1, and my Mac OSX is 10.6.1. My iPhone is on 3.1, upgraded from 3.0.
I've read from web that it seems I'm not the only one out there having this problem. But none of them seem having any real working solution.
Urgent help needed & appreciated. Millions of thanks in advance.
    Gary

    1. I used both cables - theirs & mine ... and on several macs
    2. yes, same cable for wall & mac
    3. as said, i did completely remove & install itunes (incl. apple mobile device support), as instructed on the apple webpage
anyway, did a restore just now. it seems okay now. but the problem is i have no idea what cause this, and i can't replicate the problem. so i don't know when it will happen again ... maybe a bug with os 3.1 ... others on web said os 3.1 is quite buggy ...
