WRT300N V2 (UK) 2.0.20 and Xbox360

Hello!
I (yesterday) upgraded the firmware on my WRT300N (UK, silver casing) from 2.0.17 to 2.0.20, and now my XBox360 won't connect to it. From various Google searches, it seems that this is a know issue, and hopefully Linksys will fix it soon.
In the meantime, can anybody tell me if it's safe to re-flash 2.0.17 onto my router? If so, please could somebody provide me with a download link? I've searched all over the Linksys site (including the FTP site) and couldn't find it.

Hi Peanuts, thanks for the reply.
The XBox isn't managing to associate with the WRT300N at all for some reason, so the MTU / triggering settings wouldn't make a difference in this case. I've tried it with and without security, and that doesn't make any difference.
For now, I've associated the XBox with my clapped-out old WBR2-G54S. That'll do in the short term, although the signal's pretty weak compared to the WRT.

Best Video File Type For iTunes and Xbox360

I have an extensive digital library and I am trying to have one file for all devices.
What I am looking to do is to have one file that can be managed by iTunes, play on my iPhone and stream to my xbox360 via Connect360 and look good. File size is not a concern. I dont want to do multiple encodes.
The important features are one file playable by iPhone and Xbox360 via Connect360 that can be managed by iTunes. I would like the video to be of very high visual / audio quality.
I use handbrake to convert video files.
My question is, what is the best file type for this scenario? I have used mv4 but more recently I am using MP4 with 264...
Again, one file to rule them all....

Old thread for others, but,,... It isnt necessary to convert a bunch of files, if you have Plex on your pc, and on your iphone/ipad.
I would have spent a month converting the terra bytes of all the video files that I had but i just airplay and my Plex app to send nearly any type of file on my Imac directly to my Apple tv.
It converts on the fly any file that isnt supported.

How to Connect Wii and Xbox360 wirelessly with SBC Home Portal

Greetings. Need help on hardware to connect Wii and Xbox360 wirelessly to SBC Home portal modem. Distance between connect points are about 50 feet plus and separated by floors and walls. What would work to acheive the connection? Thanks in advance for the help.

Configure the X-BOX & WII using the wireless connection same as in wireless router .....
Check the connections status on both the devices & see if you are online or not ....

Wrt160nl upnp and xbox360-- some files missing

Hi,
I have a wrt160nl with original firmware. (tried updating but it said it failed each time)
I have upnp turned on to share files with my xbox360. My xbox can connect to the server, but it doesn't see all of the files. I have a folder, HD Movies which has 12 HD movies, 8 of which or mkv, and then a few others. The xbox only sees 5 mkvs, and 1 .mov... I'm curious why 3 of the mkvs don't show up at all. (i realize the xbox won't plat the mkv file, i'm just curious why some of them show up and others dont) I have auto scan turned on and i've waited a few days. I've also restarted the router and the xbox. There are about 20 movies the xbox doesn't pick up out of around 140. Most of them are normal avi files that play fine through a usb stick.
Would a firmware upgrade help this? Any suggestions on why i can't upgrade my firmware?
Also, if i scan manually, it seems to stall. I've let it sit overnight and it still has the --scanning drive-- message. If i quit early, most of the files won't show up at all. If i let it auto scan, most of the files will be there eventually.

Thanks saber_tooth ... but the xbox's firmware can't be upgraded legally. And the OS level software on it is up to date. In addition, it can access the exact same files from my computer which is acting as a upnp server. It only has problems with the wrt160.
Also, my computer can access the files using samba... isn't that separate from upnp?
Why does the router not ever finish scanning when i scan it manually? Why can't i upgrade my firmware on the router ( i get an error that says the upgrade failed)??

I have had my xbox360 hooked up to my WRT54 wired/static and it had worked fine for years well my roommate hooked up his xbox360 wired/static now when he logs in if im playing it kicks me off and I cannot get back on unless I powercycle my router. any help?

well it can handle both of us if he logs in first then I login we can both play but if I am playing a game and he trying to login it will boot me. and when we do play its always 2 diff games like COD4 and GOW2, and 2 diff. xbox live accounts.
and it works just fine if i have a PS3 and a 360 both going.
my xbox ip is a .5.187 his is a .5.186

Dual dvi-i and xbox360

hi all just wondering if its possible to connect xbox 360 to my 6800ultra using dvi-i port then connecting the other dvi-i to the tv dvi-i
thus being able to use either the 360 or pc at any one time? as my hdtv only posses 1 dvi-i port
also will i still be able to still get hd through my card

You can use two dual-link DVI displays with your card.
Each display needs one dual-link DVI port. The board has one dual-link DVI port and one Mini DisplayPort. You can use an adapter to connect the second dual-link DVI display to the Mini DisplayPort.

OK...I recently decided to divorce myself from Windoze and bought an IMac...love it!!! Everything just worked BUT I then got the new Airport Extreme Basestation...it looked cool and was supposed to be faster. I now cannot get my XBOX 360 and PS3 to work with it. My previous Linksys router worked perfectly with all systems wirelessly....even with the MAC. I have internet access but cannot get the game systems to work (have not even tried the WII yet). Does anyone have any advice (I have to admit to not being very savvy with networking). I would really appreciate any help...esp. step by step instructions!!!! Thank you all in advance

I want nat type 1 or open on ps3 and xbox360

i have fios on a hp vista home preimem my router is brand westtell issued by verison i have made a staic ip address this didnt help i have open on 360 but not ps3 it does not make sense also i want to netowork all three bu my pc does not see them to share files have turned off firewalls and tryed with them on any help plz

The easiest way to get open NAT on both consoles is to enable UPnP on your router.
On a PS3, it is impossible to get NAT Type 1 while connected through a router. You can only get NAT Type 1 if you are connected directly to the internet (ie. if your PS3 is connected directly to the Verizon box on the side of your house.)
If you are connected to a router, NAT Type 2 is the best you can get, and you will have no problem playing online with that status. You should only be worried if you are getting NAT Type 3. There is no such thing as "Open NAT" on PS3.
To properly enable network sharing, make sure you are listed as being in a Home network (as opposed to a Public or Work network) on your PC. If you have anything other than the standard Windows Firewall installed, you are going to have to manually create exceptions for Windows Media Sharing in your firewall-you can't just disable the firewall entirely.
Both consoles should automatically see your PC, but you may also have to manually grant them permission from your PC to access the shared media.

Question about audio in and xbox360 audio on the x-fi audio c

I am having an extremely difficult time getting my audio to go from my 360 through the card. I have updated everything and still can't get any audio. I actually had audio for a day or two and then it stopped and I have no clue why it started or stopped.
I have my 360 hooked up to my monitor through the vga adapter and the audio is plugged into an adapter that goes to a single cord that plugs into the back of the card.
I had this previous settup under windows xp on another motherboard and the audio worked fine. I installed vista on a new mb and the audio wouldn't work with onboard so I bought the card. I get the same issue with the card although it did work for a few days as I said. Then it just stopped working and I hadn't touched any audio setting directly.
I've gone through all the audio setting I can find and have tried switch things on and off under sound which lists speakers and digital audio interface under playback. The audio from winamp goes through the digital audio interface (I can see the sound bar going up and down on it.
There's another tab that says recording and includes s/pdif-in, line-in auxiliary and microphone. All of those are unavailable except for the microphone. I've tried switching to the other devices and none of them have made the 360 audio come out.
I've also checked the hardware configuration under hardware manager and the device is working fine. I'm sure it has something to do with vista because everything worked under xp before.
Anyone else have this issue before? It kind of sucks that I can't play audio from my 360 to my speakers. I'm looking at installing linux on my other partition and see if it works through there....

Yep. I have the latest audio drivers for the card for vista and it was working. I was pissed because I couldn't get the audio working, then all of a sudden it worked and I have no clue what I might have done to fix that. I was playing bioshock for a few days and then I went one day to play it again, turn on my 360, and no audio at all.
It has to be either some audio setting, a driver issue, or some sort of incompatability in the software. Vista says the device is working and I do get audio out to my speaks from the computer so it has to be an issue specifically with the settings for the I/O jack, I think.
Like I said I had the same issue with my onboard sound so I bought the card. So i'm guessing it's some sort of vista setting. I'm just wondering what to check in the vista sound menu's. I have only just started using vista so I am not completely up to date on vista. The sound menu seems far more robust in terms of devices displayed and such.

Creative Titanium HD and xbox360

CHi, i've recently bought a creative titanium hd. i cant seem to output from my xbox and input to my soundcard. It cant seem to recognise any input. please verify if this card can be used on xbox.. cause the?PCI Express X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro Series states that it supports input from consoles

Like most audio cards Titanium HD supports only PCM stereo input via optic cable. Check your console audio output settings.

WRT300N V 2.0 - Lights bink and then it shuts off.

My wireless connection was missing last night so I unplugged the router for a while and then plugged it in again.
After doing so, I the lights on the frount blink (the 2 outer lights first then the inner lights) and then all lights go dark and it seems the unit is off.
Do I have to replace the router or can I save it? Any help is appriciated.

Try a firmware upgrade and reset the router.
Download the firmware from the website for your router http://www.linksys.com/downloads, extract files if its zipped.
Login to http://192.168.1.1.
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware
Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' to select the
extracted/uncompressed .img or .bin file and click on "Upgrade"
After doing the fir mware upgrade you have to reset this router again
for 30 seconds.
Reset the router
1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
another 30 Seconds.
3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
for 30 Seconds.
4. Release the reset button.

WRT54G v5 and XBOX360

I am having trouble with a few things. First of all, I am unable to connect to some online games with my XBOX 360. I thought maybe I needed to update my firmware. When I tried, it downloaded as a .Bin file and I don't know how to open the file. I am pretty retarded when it comes to this so I would appreciate it if someone could tell me whats going on and maybe walk me through it.

You dont have to open the file on the same location...... open router set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ........ you wil see username & password ....... leave username blank & in password use admin ........
Click "Administration" tab ...... click firmware upgrade sub-tab ..... click browse & choose the file you downloaded ...... click upgrade ........
Wait for few seconds ....... it will show message upgrade successful ......
reset & reconfigure the router after upgrade ........

WRT54G XBOX360 and MacBook Pro detection issues

I have been having some issues detecting my Linksys WRT56G wireless router from my MacBook Pro and an Xbox 360 that is using a Linksys wireless gaming adapter. I haven't had this issue before until I taken it to my friends house on the weekend so I can browse/play wirelessly (my friend doesn't have a Wireless router) and when I installed it back into my house, this issue occurs. My MacBook Pro was able to detect my wireless connection and was able to browse the internet but after a few hours I abruptly disconnect and I can no longer find my wireless connection. The only time I can make this work is by resetting my router every time I cannot find my wireless connection. My Xbox 360 does the same thing but it even gets worse when the XBOX360 and my MacBook Pro are using wireless connection -- we only stay connected for only a few minutes.This is what I have done so far:
1) Restarted computer, reset Linksys WRT56G, reset DSL modem, reset Linksys Wireless Gaming Adapter, DHCP renew/release.
2) Installed the latest firmware using Linksys Upgrade and EasyLink.
3) Reset Linksys WRT56G everytime I get disconnected and can no longer find a wireless connection.
Please I really need help. I have had this issue for a week and I am so frustrated. Thank you so much and I really appreciate your help.

Whats the difference between WRT160N and WRT300N?

Range, Wireless Connectivity, Stability and Speed of WRT300N is better that WRT160N...WRT160N consist of additional WiFi Protected set-up, WRT300N does not have any such WiFi Protected set-up...I would recommend you to get WRT300N...
