WRT300N wont allow internet on wired DSL computer or wireless laptop

All lights are on. DSL works fine before connecting router. Connected router as shown in setup (computer to internet port on router, numbered port on router to modem) and as shown on website( computer to numbered port, internet port on router to modem). The second setup allowed the router to be detected and setup finalized. Desktop pc has no internet when router connected. Wireless laptop shows connection but no internet. Anyone have any ideas?

Reset your router by holding down the reset button on the back for 30 sec. This should get you on the net but you will need to configure your router wireless settings to secure it. Good Luck!

AP Extreme only allowing internet access to one computer at a time

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find a post on point. Have a brand new AP Extreme, with DSL to AP, then wireless to MBP and hard wired to 2 PC's running XP. Finally got it all running together, but the AP Extreme isn't allowing the various computers to share the internet connection. When one computer tries to access internet via mail or browser, receive msg "Internet cnnection currently in use by xxx.xx.x.xx (IP number for one of net computers). Enter DSL login password to switch the internet connection to this computer."
So, now what? How do I configure this network to share the internet connection among the 3 computers? AP is set up as bridge only.

Sorry for the delay, but I wasn't able to access the forums. I finally hooked up the old wired router and PC.
If I configure the AEBS to PPPoE (which is what earthlink wants), I get an error message "Looking for PPPoE server". The network status shows "connected to Internet". Could this be a mistake in the MBP settings or the AEBS settings?
If I revert to using DHCP, then I continue to get the Double NAT error (at least it's reproduceable). I can connect in a limited fashion this way, but some pages (Apple.com prominently) won't load, and my email is very limited.
I see that a number of others are having the same issue with Earthlink. I have several docs from both Earthlink and Apple that purportedly solve the problem...except they don't for me.
So, two questions: in your original post, you suggested that I place my modem in "bridge" mode. How would I do this? I can use either the MBP, wired or wireless, or the PC wired. Once I accomplish that, would that allow me to reconfigure the AEBS back to PPPoE mode sucessfully?
2nd query: do you know a way to configure the MBP to connect with an earthlink ADSL modem using PPPoE. Switching back and forth (wired router to AEBS) it is evident that my problem is the AEBS is not configured correctly with my MBP and Earthlink.
I've been back and forth a dozen times, in every conceivable combination...MBP wired directly to modem, everything hard wired to Linksys router, AEBS & PC's hard wired to Linksys...this is making me crazy.

Xp wired base with vista wireless laptop

HELP!!!! totally new to this stuff-I have a linksys WRT54GS V 6.0 router-have connected it to my ethernet wired XP home computer and want to add my VISTA wireless laptop to my home network with file sharing enabled. My laptop works off the net at this stage, but I cannot access files from the base computer and vice versa-what am I doing wrong??

Luimar, thank you for helping. I have file & print sharing activated on all three computers (two desktop both running XP & the wireless laptop running Vista). On one of the desktops, I have an HP Deskjet 970cse, connected via a parallel cable. On the other desktop, I have an HP Photosmart 2610xi all-in-one, connected via a USB cable. Just in case...I also have new WRT54G (version 8) wireless router that I just replaced my old router with.
I thought the problem might have been that I was trying to connect a wireless laptop running Vista to a printer on a pc running XP--such that the Vista drivers were not being loaded from the desktop running XP. The Microsoft site says that this doesn't matter--that the drivers for both of these printers is already in the operating system. At this point, I have no idea what to do next.

Stuck with wireless internet, want wired dsl

I got a buddy in Eagle River, WI, that is stuck in a contract for many months with a verizon wireless internet plan with only 5GB of data, but he desperately needs to get a wired plan such as DSL or cable. He generally runs out of data within a week and cannot use the internet on his computer for the rest of the month (his usb dongle won't allow him connect). Is there any way at all to migrate from wireless data to DSL without a 500 dollar contract break fee or paying for both plans full price at the same time?

Sure, it's just a matter of routing.
If your existing network is using 192.168.1.x you can create another network between the two machines in a different subnet (e.g. 10.1.1.x). This 'network' could consist of just those two machines connected via an ethernet cable such that the Mac is 10.1.1.1 and the PC is 10.1.1.2.
Now all you need to do is decide which IP address you connect to. If you connect to the 192.168.1.x address you'll go over the wireless link. If you connect to the 10.1.1.2 address you'll use the wired connection.
The only trick is to use different subnets on each link - if you try to set both interfaces to the same network you will have problems.

Network settings wont allow me to authorize new computer

I have a new hp notebook running vista. im trying authorize this notebook so i can transfer the music directly from my ipod. I also can not connect to itunes store and have downloaded and installed teh updated itunes version several times. not sure if related but mozilla firefox also wont run on this notebook for some reason. simply doesnt connect. any help is appreciated

I changed my i-tunes id from the original now when I try to play my music it claims I need to authorize my computer to do so with the administrator password. When I use the new one it keeps asking me to authorize the computer over and over again. When I use the old one it is not valid anymore. How can I get it to allow me to play my music??????

Sounds like you are in recovery mode. Try using RecBoot to kick it out of recovery. If that does not work, you may need to restore.

Newlly restored 3rd generation Ipod (version 4.2.1) wont allow internet or blue tooth. Help?

My newlly restored Ipod wont let me enter the wifi password in order to use the wifi. When you go to the wifi tab, it wont let you click on it and looks white. How do I get it to let me use the wifi tan again? It use to go online no problem and then I restored it after not using it for about a year and it just doesnt want to let me use the wifi.

If you have a desktop that can do "Internet sharing" and wi-fi, you may be able to use that instead of buying a router. I haven't done tihs recently but played with it with my iMac before I bought a wireless router.
But a router is the better option. They're not expensive and recent ones have some decent security. I have a Netgear WGR614 (v10) with a firewall built in making me double firewalled on the desktop (where all the really critical stuff lives like banking info and all) and it has an "access control" option where you not only password your network but specify exactly which devices can connect at all. Something I like because the signal reaches the street outside the house. That's a bit more "reach" than I like. Though, funny thing, my brother (who's iPad is authorized to use my net) did a quick update by pulling into my driveway once while I wasn't even here.
Any wireless can have a surprising reach. I live in a fairly rural area and I pick up on other peoples' wireless all the time. Which, out here, I did not expect.

How can I share a printer among a wired Mac and a wireless laptop?

I find this extremely frustrating, but I can't figure out how to share my printer for the life of me.
My Mac Pro is connected to my router and when my girlfriend is here she connects her computer to the internet via my router wirelessly/WiFi. She has 10.4.0 and I have 10.5.5. On both computers printing sharing is enabled. Shouldn't one of our computers be able to see the other on a network? Or is there something I'm completely missing? All I want is for her to SOMEHOW connect to my computer so she can print stuff and I dont have to go behind my computer, unplug the USB, and plug it into hers. Even though I am in the printer discussion area, I even want to be able to share files too. It should be relatively simple but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do and I can't even find any sort of "setup wizard" that directs me in the direction to go. Sorry but I've been using Windows for 10 years and I'm just completely lost in the mac world now Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Apple forums.
With regards to sharing your printer, you need to open System Preferences > Sharing and then tick printer sharing. In the right hand pane you will also be able to select which printer to share (if you only have one then it will probably already be selected). Now your partner should be able to open their System Preferences > Print and Fax and click the + button to add a printer. If they then select the Default browser view, your printer share should be visible. If it is not visible, then please reply as there may be other factors that are causing this.
Also, with regards to file sharing, while you were in System Preferences > Sharing you would have seen Personal File Sharing. Enable this setting so that the other Mac can see your Mac on the network. If they select the Guest account when connecting to your Mac, the will have by default access to your Public folder for viewing documents and your Drop Box for sending files to you.
One last thing. You mentioned the other Mac running 10.4.0. The latest version of 10.4 (Tiger) is 11. So, if this Mac is really at 10.4.0, then you may want to update it as this may contribute to compatibility issues between the two Mac's.

Is it possible to use an older model Dell printer (wired) with a HP wireless laptop?

I am using an HP Pavillion laptop computer with Windows 7 at home. I am connected to a wireless printer (Canon 3 in 1). I have to leave town & go to my aunt's house in another city. She has no computer setup at her house, but we have wireless router there so I can use my laptop.
Can I take my old Dell printer (which I used when I had a desktop), plug it into my laptop (I assume I'll have to also install printer) & use it there (without it being wireless, etc.?). The ink should still be viable but it has been several months since I've used it. I need to know if it would be worthwhile to take my old printer with me & be able to set it up & use it. If so, is it possible to use a laptop (I use wireless at my aunt's house) with a hard-wired printer? And would it be hard to set up?
Bottom line is, I'm selling stuff on Ebay this week, I have to make an emergency trip to help family, & will probably have to lug items (and print out shipping labels) while I'm there. I thought it might be useful to have in the long run a printer (albeit an older model) that I can use while helping out family in another city.
I'm sure I'm leaving out some info but if you think you need more to answer my question, let me know.... thank you in advance.

If I read this right, you can install your wired printer right now and test it out. Then go on your trip and just plug in back into your computer and it will work just fine.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

You need to restore the iPod on the new computer. You can only sync apps (and some other stuff) from different computers/libraries but you can manage music and some other stuff among different computers/libraries.
You need to restore you iPod and see the following regarding the pairing error message.
