WRT300N , WRT600n 20' MAX for a good signal!!

Why are the new linksys routers so under powered you can only get a good signal level in the SAME room as the router?
I pick up the nextdoor router twice as strong as my own that is only 5 foot away and thairs is over 150 foot away!
I have spent Alot of money put in this router for "N" and its not worth half the price it goes for.
thay get ya by telling you "the farther away the better the speed you get" LOL LOL LOL
i supose thay think 20 feet is far away.
I have used Linksys routers for a long time i still have my first one an OLD wrt54g and with that one with only 1 Antenna i can get 2 blocks arround my house But Not with the Wrt300n version 1.1 or the version 1.0 nor the 600n with the "N" routers i cant even get a good signal LINE OF SIGHT 150 ft with out a UNSTABLE connection.
But yet the OLD wrt54g i can stream winamp radio the FULL 2 blocks arround the house AND not even drop below 32Mbps!
its NOT My WiFi card "tested with OVER 15 different laptops"
and Its NOT were the router is sitting as When i try the old wrt54g it would be put in one place and when i test the "N" routers thay get put in the SAME place and same position as the 54g.
I even Upgraded the antennas and that was NO help .
and with the WRT300N version 1.0 i changed the radio in it its a wpc300n PCMCIA card and that was NO better so i put a wpc600n PCMCIA card in it with the SAME out come.
"USELESS unless tour in the same room" if you want to keep a signal OVER 40 to 45%.
So whats up with the "N" Router power set this LOW?
I have tested alot of routers here at the shop OVER 42 of them and can see that the "N" Power is held Back.
You Over pay for Under powered AP's.

He's shooting DV and he could do the editing on a mac mini. Otherwise he would have spelled out the formats in excruciating detail.
To the OP, the only real drawback to the iMacs is there is no expansion capabilities which severely limits the ability to deal with upper end HD and uncompressed SD formats. You can edit DV with an iMac or Macbook quite easily. Just be aware you may run into capture problems with certain (ie Canon) cameras.

Upgrading PowerMac G4 to the MAX for video production?????

I need to know if I can just upgrade my Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics) to the max for video production? I'll be using 4 main programs.
1. Final Cut Studio 2
2. After Affects
3. Protools
4. Photoshop CS 3
Final Cut recommends this for all applications:
* 2GB of RAM when working with compressed HD and uncompressed SD sources
* 4GB of RAM when working with uncompressed HD sources
Here are my computer stats:

I'm thinking that, for those specific needs, dollars are better thrown at a newer model than upgrades for your existing one. Here's why:
1) You do not have native support for large hard drives, something that's nice for video work. You'd have to spend money on a PCI adaptor card to add that support. Figure US$40-100.
2) Your video card is likely not up to the task unless it's already been upgraded. Another $70-250 depending on how good a scrounger you are.
3) You need a minimum 1.25Ghz G4 processor and, if you get the upgrade, who's to say if the next version of FC will still support a G4? 1.2G processor upgrades start at over $200 and faster ones are up to $700 (OWC pricing for new gear).
4) You can't stick more than 2G RAM in your computer.
And, after all the upgrades, you still have the basic bus speed limitation inherent in all G4s.
Bottom line is that you can quickly invest enough to buy a faster used Mac. Examples of used G5 prices (usually at the top of the price scale) are here. Even an entry level G5 should be much faster than a fully upgraded G4.
Don't get me wrong--I'm an upgrader and love to do it regardless of cost. In this case, I see the potential for ending up with an upgraded computer that struggles at its intended task and could be obsoleted by the next upgrade of the software.

Try rebooting the router and see if that helps. unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
You can also try restarting your iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Hardwire is always recommended because there is virtually no signal loss in a wire....at least up to 300 feet or so.
Another advantage of using Ethernet cable...if you can...is that you can locate the AirPort Express where it is most needed.
If it extends using wireless only, it pretty much needs to be located about half the distance from the main router and the general area that needs more coverage.
I like to use WiFi Explorer since it displays SNR (Signal to Noise) readings, which are the best way to evaluate signal quality.

If the signal is varying constantly, something is causing it to do so....assuming that the AirPorts are functioning correctly.
Cordless phones are a huge problem for wireless networks. You want to try to figure out if the phones are causing a problem as a first troubleshooting step.
That is why I suggested that you turn off the phones for an hour or two and watch the network to see how it behaves. If the signal stops fluctuating....that is a good clue that the phones are interfering with the wireless signal.

Recommendations for cell phone signal boosters

I have not yet made the jump to an iPhone but would greatly appreciate feedback on what cell phone boosters actually work (having lived for years with about 5% Verizon signal reliability at my home, very good signal most other places -- of course the Verizon maps claim I have a "very good" signal at home). I thought I read a column in the NYTimes which reviewed several booster devices (some reasonably priced; others $200 to $349) but searching their archive, and basic Google searches are just coming up with sales propaganda, no honest evaluations.
What kind of base station/antenna device works well with the ATT network/ iPhone Edge technology (&/or basic Verizon cell service).

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

You are running into the activation lock.

You have to either enter the Apple/iCloud ID and password in order to activate the iPod for use. Or you can try to dissassociate the iPod for that account by:

Here are the steps.
1> Customization needs to be completed in SPRO. Logistics Execution -> Mobile Data entry section. Also compare entries with LM01 for understanding.
2> In the 'Define menu management', you can create dynamic menus. For Menu or transaction type, if you enter "1", a menu appears; if you enter "2", a transaction appears. Custom transactions can be created and assigned here.
Once that is done, when you execute LM01 you will see your custom transactions come up. Make sure that these are created keeping in mind the RF device screen size and limitations.

1.Define new pricing procedure for Free goods through copying the existing procedure.T.Code V/08
2.If you don't want taxes remove the Sales tax related condition types.T.CodeV/08
3.Add R100 -100% Discount Condition type to make total value as "Zero" place R100 condition type after the total value.T.CodeV/08
4.Define new sales document type and billing type for the Free Goods process.T.codes VOV8 & VOFA
5.Assign document pricing procedure as C-Free goods for those sales document tyep and billing type.
T.codes VOV8 & VOFA
6.Define account key seperately for Free Goods and assign that account key to the pricing condition tyep and R100 condition type.
7.Determine the Free goods pricing procedure with the combination of sales areaDocument pricing procedure(i.e C-Free Goods)Customer pricing procedure.T.code OVKK
8.Do the G/L account assignment for that new account key(Single G/L account for price and R100-100% discount).T.Code VKOA
9.Maintain condition record for the R100 condition type as 100% with sales document type as one of the key combination.T.code VK11
Now when you create Free Goods order system will pick the Free goods pricing procedure(Value with zero)with refernce to that order you can create delivery then do the free goods billing ,and release to accounting with two postings one is credit-price second one is debit-100% dicount.

You have to follow following steps for MM;
1. MM02 - Material Master - Purchasing view Qual.f.FreeGoodsDis. enter here "1" i.e. Eligible for discount in kind for purchasing and sales
2. XK02 - Vendor Master - Purchasing view - Activate "Grant discount in kind"
3. SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Discount in Kind (Discount in Form of Bonus Goods) > Define And Assign Discount-in-Kind Schema > Determine Free Goods Schema > Here assign Free Goods Schema "NR0001" for combination of Schema Group for Purchase Org., Schema Group for Vendor
4. ME11/ME12 - Purchase Info Record > Here in "conditions" screen, click on button "Free Goods" (Ctrl + F1) and here click on "Exclusive" button and maintain the condition record that on 10 material X, Additional material for Free Goods will be 2 qty. of X.
OR You can use following T. Codes to maintain condition records for Free Goods, if you are not maintaining Purchase Info Record;
MBN1 Free goods - Create (Purchasing)
MBN2 Free goods - Change (Purchasing)
MBN3 Free goods - Display (Purchasing)
Here use discount type "NR00"
Then go to ME21N, create PO for 10 or more it will add one line item automatically for that item with free
goods qty.

For the Materials which are free if you want to avail the MODVAT then you have to enter Excise Base Value, BED, ECS, SECess manually during GR. Since in PO, these materials are of Zero Value so it will not propose the Excise values in GR, you have to enter manually as per the Vendor Excise Invoice.

Pricing determination for free goods

Hi Experts,
Please help me for the following issue:
This is with regarding pricing determination. I have a requirement that, for each 10 quantities of Material ABC sold out, 3 quantities of same material ABC is given free. In VBN1, I have set the requirements as such.
Material ABC has Basic discount of 20%, Excise duties and VAT.
While entering 10 quantities in 1st line item of Sale order, automatically 2nd line item generates with 3 quantities of the Same material. Item category for 2nd line items is TANN:
ORNORM_______+ TAN = TANN.
In VOV7, have defined Pricing as "B =Pricing for free goods(100% discount)" for TANN. The issue here is,
For the 2nd line item (Free goods), negative values and Tax values are getting updated because system calculates BED, VAT, 20% discount for both line items in the sale order.
When I changed the Pricing as Blank (No Pricing) in TANN item category. 2nd line item also (i.e free goods) behaves like 1st line item (Chargeable). I want the system to calculate VAT, BED, 20% discount only for the chargeable item not for free goods.
Please suggest.

Total----{60(Negative) + 140(BED) + 194.4 (Vat)}
For the 2nd line item, negative 60 value, BED and Vat values are being calculated.
Hope that I have specified my requirement clearly, can you please let me know what should be done, if there should be no 4% discount, BED and Vat values for 2nd line item (Free goods).

I have doubt, whether excise invoice is required for finished goods or not. As I am trying to create MIGO doc for PO of finished material, and it is saying, no excise invoice possible for finished material RG1.

New to Mac and I am looking for a good app to process labels for envelopes. Used to use the Printmaster program on the PC side. Wondering if "Pages" Iis the correct program to buy of is there another option. Thank you.

The Contacts application will print envelopes and is already on your iMac. See this Apple article for information on how to do it.
