WRT310N and WPA not allowing connection to internet
I just purchased a WRT310N, followed the setup instructions and selected WPA/WPA2 encryption. I put the key into my Belkin PCA card, model F5D7011 and my XBOX i get no connection to Internet from either device. I reinstalled the router and set the security option in the CONFIGURE ROUTER section to "no securty" and finished the re-install. Everything is fine. XBOX and my Dell PC connect to internet. WPA does not work. ANy help is appreciated.
Ok. i am working now. I deleted the wireless connection in the Belkin Utiliy and re-configured the router with WPA. I made the PCA card reconnect and a dialog box came up asking for the key. I did not use the random key provided by Linksys. I made up my own. Once i put the key into the belkin utility all was ok. XBOX works now as well.

Wifi Connected but not allowing connection to internet....
Ok for starters I am by no means computer illiterate. I have several industry certifications and have worked in IT in one form or another for over 10 years. That being said I have tried all the obvious solutions to fix this issue. So please save your effort in telling me to flush dns servers, check connection settings on clients, run ipconfig with various switches, etc... all this has been done and failed. That is not to say I know everything, because I don’t, I’m just saying that I have tried all the obvious troubleshooting routes.
Now… on to my issue. I have a WRT54GS ver. 5 and it has worked flawlessly for several years now. My machine is hard wired to the access point and I have no troubles connecting to the internet via said PC. The wireless I use for my wife’s laptop and my iPhone. I use mac filtering and WPA Personal with TKIP, dhcp is disabled and IP's are assigned manually via TCP/IP settings in windows. Two days ago my wife complained that she was unable to connect to the internet despite the fact that she had a solid connection to the AP. After checking her machine and finding everything in order in terms of the connection settings I also discovered that my iPhone was also unable to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, again despite a strong connection to the AP. This led me to believe that the issue lied with the AP since nothing had changed on the client machines and all the connection settings were correct. I am able to ping the AP from the client but it is not routing traffic to the internet.
That brings me to troubleshooting the AP. I logged in and verified that all settings were as they had always been in the router, not one thing had changed. So to make absolutely sure it was not some setting in the AP that had been changed somehow I reset the router to defaults and re-configured it EXACTLY as it had always been. Still no love. I also tried the following to further troubleshoot the issue with no luck:
Clearing WINS and TCP/IP stack in windows on the laptop.
Disabling WPA and connecting with no security save MAC filtering
(yes I made sure that MAC filtering was set to permit and that all MAC addresses were correct)
Upgraded to the latest firmware.
Unplugged wireless phones throughout the house and cycled through all 11 channels to rule out interference.
I guess what I am now trying to figure out is whether or not the routers Wi-Fi is bricked. Is it possible for the Wi-Fi to be bricked but still be able to connect to the Wi-Fi network with a strong signal and for wired to work just fine? I would think that if the Wi-Fi was kaput that one would not be able even connect to the AP via wireless. I am to the point now where I’m about to say screw it and just go buy a Wireless N router and be done with it. But to be honest I am a little leery of Linksys now if a two or three year old router is bricked without warning or any apparent cause. Even though I have used Linksys products for the entirety of my IT career, I am now having second thoughts about going with cisco products if indeed it is bricked and I have to go out and buy another AP. Any help the community here can offer would be much appreciated, I don’t mind getting a new AP as the N speeds would be a plus but I want to make sure that all hope is lost for the WRT54GS before I do.Thanks for your reply.
Yes, as stated in the OP all clients wired or otherwise have IP's and DNS info manually entered in windows TCP/IP configuration. All of the IP info has been the same for years and it works fine on my machine (hard wired) with the only difference being the last octet of the IP, subnets and DNS settings are the same on all clients.
All 4 clients (My PC, Laptop, Iphone, and wireless printer) can all ping both ways without issue. As I mentioned before the wireless clients connect to the AP just fine and all settings are verified correct. My WLAN is still working flawlessly and I can connect to and view all clients and shares. The issue seems to lie with the WiFI routing to the internet: I can connect to the internet from the wired PC and all the clients on the local network have connectivity, the only issue I have is that the wireless clients (in spite of a working connection to the AP) cannot seem to get thorugh the internet. However I did change the RTS and Fragmentation to 2304 and the beacon to 50 as you advised and set the DNS servers to what you listed on the wireless machine and was still able to ping back and forth but had no connectivity to the internet. -
why does iTunes keep giving me bogus error messages. "Your internet connection is not working, check your connection and try again." My internet is working fine. iTunes is not working and will not allow me to download tunes.
This my sound too simple, but I just kept clikning on the arrow next to the selected music and it finally "Kicked" in.

When I try to start Settings, or Safari, the programmes close immediately and does not allow me to ghange anything or get connected in the internet. How can i set back factory settings? can somebody help me?

It sounds like Safari and Settings will immediately close when you try to open them. I recommend following steps in the following tutorial to address an issue like this (you can skip step 2 "Recharge iPad" because it's not related to this issue):

my phone keep asking me to sign in to iTunes store and will not allow me to download apps. it sends a message saying "Cannot connect to itunes store" what do i do?
Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it. So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID). If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections. -
My phone will not let me download the most recent update for iOS 7.1. It says I need a wifi connection and will not allow me to push the 'Download & Install' button, even when I am at home and my wifi is on. How do I fix this?
Unfortunately yes, though technology would never move on if it kept to older standards and did not strive to do more.
The app store always gives you the option to use a previous version of the app IF it is available for your device.

I have 2 games Words with Friends and Cityville that receives a Pop-up message form iTunes... "Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications" and will not allow me to exit out of the app or play. How can I get this message to STOP?
Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.1) calendar continues to "connect to server" and will not allow shut down or restart. Force quit worked. How can I make this calendar usable? The problem began after I updated to Maverick.
babowa, it seems like it is using Fuse & NTFS, so I don't think it's the classic WD + 10.9 mess, but extra WD tools & drivers can still break things MtTran.
MrTran, if you must use unsupported disk formats on your Mac you must also consider actually paying the developers that made the trial software.
It's probably a good idea to follow the developers removal instructions, reboot & then install one tool at a time.
MacFuse, FuseOSX, NTFS-3G are all likley to confict if you run older versions so you need to be sure you are using the latest version. I can't remeber which one depends on the other, so you will need to read the manuals.
When the disk is readable copy the data to another disk. You could probably do this from a Linux distro or Windows if OS X won't do it.
If you insist on only using the trial versions you will need to reinstall Mac OS, copy data off this disk & reformat it.

This is a check which is put DBA using logon trigger
to check certain user loging in using certain application.
only some users using particular username are getting this error when they try to logon using oracle sql developer
the same users when uses different username(some generic user names created to access database) to access the same database then they are able to login.
similarly if they login using SQL navigator they are able to login with both their own and the generic user name
more over of all the database instances this is only happening on some of the instances and all of them are development instances.

I just want to bypass this check which i think uses V$SESSION and columns PROGRAM and/or MODULE to check the application used by particular user.

Everytime I open my setting, safari or any app that needs the internet my ipad blinks out and does not allow me access.
1. Double-click the Home button to reveal the Task Bar
2. Hold the Safari app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
3. Tap the minus sign to close Safari

If I switch from WEP to WAP i do not get the message but I still only get 54mbps speed. I have a Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router. Is there a setting that I am missing???Yes you need to use WPA-AES or WPA2-AES, or no encryption, to go faster than 54Mbps. This is part of the 802.11n spec.
That's not so bad, because if you have the right 802.11n card and use the right settings you can go up to 300Mbps!
What bites is that the 802.11n card which comes with X-Series ThinkPads is the Intel 4965AGN. It does not support the broader 802.11n 40MHz channel width option, limiting the top speed to 130Mbps .
The new ThinkPads based on the Montevina/Centrino 2 platform will most likely use the Intel WiFi Link 5100/5300 802.11n/WiMax cards, which I hope will fix this, coz I'm going to buy one!

Acrobat does not allow connection to
Need help with this error message please. Using Win7, saved a Word 2010 table of contents with multiple links to pdf files across internal servers as a PDF. Also created the word doc w/multiple pdf links as a PDF file using acrobat9 standard and have same problems. when a user with Adobe Reader 8+ clicks on a pdf link in the PDF table of contents file, they get an error message Acrobat does not allow connection to: and they cannot open the linked file. However, I am able to open the files using the same links with both reader and acrobat.
This worked previously until we upgraded to these versions of software... the error message shows a number of % signs and multiple ////. However, i can open the fiile but others cannot.
anyone have any ideas or is this a fix that i need to download?not sure where my previous reply went; however, there are numerous machines at varuious sites that will be accessing this server/folder. I am not sure if it is a trusted sites issue as the file lists numerous PDF links and some of them open to the respective pdf file and others recieve the mssage. All the files reside on the same server within the same main folder and within subfolders. never had the problem before. the users can open some of the linked files and others the connection msg appears. I however, am able to open the same links they get the error on. I am totally baffled by this and have been troubleshooting for weeks now. I just had acrobat X installed to see if that would help but still problem. I also saved the word doc (2010) as pdf (which lists the links to the other pdfs) but users still have same problem. there are approx 75 links within this doc and I truly hope we don't have to relink everything..

Is Verizon not allowing connections to alternate DNS servers anymore?
Last night I ran a DNS benchmark test, and a notice popped up saying my ISP was intercepting and redirecting all outgoing DNS requests. I've been using OpenDNS for a year now without any problems, then I found out last night I am not connecting to their servers, so I tried Googles servers, no luck there either.
I called tech support (several times) and no one could give me a straight answer to my question: Is Verizon not allowing connections to alternate DNS servers anymore? I was forced to switch back to Verizon servers, not happy about that.
Can someone please answer my question? Thanks.I'm on FiOS and I've got no issues using OpenDNS. I have the Quantum router set to use it. Works fine.
I've manually changed DNS on my computer to google's servers. No problems with this, either.

When this happens, please press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and see how much RAM and CPU Firefox is using. If they're sky high, then... Well, that kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
#run Firefox in safe-mode to disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
#update all extensions and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#disable all extensions and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
#enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
#do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
#disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix you issues with Firefox, proceed;
#check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
#check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't do it, I'm out of ideas. Except make sure you've followed my instructions correctly.
