WRT310N help

Greetings,
I tried updating my firmware of my WRT310N and it said that it competed without issues.  I rebooted the router, and I dont get any response out of it.  I get a solid power light on the router.   If I plug in a PC to the router the link light comes on as well.  However, the DHCP service is not working or does it have any sort of IP address that I can connect to.
Any ideas how i might resurect my router?

Did you reset the router after upgrading the firmware...If not then, reset the router for 30 seconds and reconfigure it...

  • WRT310N: Help with DMZ/settings (firmware 1.0.09) for wired connection

Hello. I have a WRT310N and have been having a somewhat difficult time with my xbox 360's connection. I have forwarded all the necessary ports (53, 80, 88, 3074) for it to run, and tried changing MTU and what-not.
I don't know if I have DMZ setup incorrectly, or if it's my settings.
    Setup as follows:
PCX2200 modem connected via ethernet to WRT310N.
The WRT310N has into ethernet port 1 a WAP54G, and then upstairs (so that my Mother's computer can get a strong signal) I have another WAP54G that I believe receives its signal from the downstairs 54G.
In the back of the WRT310N, I have my computer connected via ethernet port 3, and my Xbox 360 connected via ethernet port 4.
Now, I first figured I just have so many connections tied to the router and that is the reason for being so slow. However, when I unplug all the other ethernet cords and nothing is connected wirelessly, except for my Xbox connected to ethernet port 4, it is still poor. Also, with everything connected (WAP54G and other devices wirelessly) I get on my PC and run a speedtest.  For the sake of advice, my speedtests I am running on my PC are (after 5 tests) averagely 8.5 Mbps download, and 1.00 Mbps upload, with a ping of  82ms.
Here is an image of the results:
    http://www.speedtest.net][IMG]http://www.speedtest.net/result/721106714.png
Let me add a little more detail of my (192.168.1.1) settings for WRT310N.
For starters, my Father's IT guy at his workplace set up this WRT310N and WAP54G's. So some of these settings may be his doing. I just don't know which.
"Setup" as Auto-configurations DHCP. I've added my Xbox's IP address to the DHCP reservation the IP of 192.168.1.104. This has (from what I've noticed) stayed the same for days.
MTU: Auto, which stays at 1500 when I check under status.
Advanced Routing: NAT routing enabled, Dynamic Routing disabled.
Security: Disabled SPI firewall, UNchecked these: Filter Anonymous Internet Requests, Multicast, and Internet NAT redirection.
VPN passthrough: All 3 options are enabled (IPSec, PPTP, L2TP)
    Access Restrictions: None.
Applications and Gaming: Single port forwarding has no entries. Port Range Forwarding I have the ports 53 UDP/TCP, 88 UDP, 3074 UDP/TCP, and 80 TCP forwarded to IP 192.168.1.104 enabled. (192.168.1.104 is the IP for my xbox connected via ethernet wired that is in DHCP reserved list)
Port Range Triggering: It does not allow me to change anything in this page.
DMZ: I have it Enabled. This is where I am a bit confused. It says "Source IP Address" and it has me select either "Any IP address" or to put entries to the XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to XXX fields. I have selected use any IP address. Then the source IP area, it says "Destination:"  I can do either "IP address: 192.168.1.XXX" or "MAC address:" Also, under MAC Address, it says DHCP Client Table and I went there and saw my Xbox under the DHCP client list (It shows up only when the Xbox is on) and selected it.
Under QoS: WMM Enabled, No acknowledgement disabled.
Internet Access Priority: Enabled. Upstream Bandwith I set it to Manual and put 6000 Kbps. I had it set on Auto before, but I changed it. I have no idea what to put there so I just put a higher number.
Then I added for Internet Access Priority a Medium Priority for Ethernet Port 4 (the port my xbox is plugged into).
Administration: Management: Web utility access: I have checked HTTP, unchecked HTTPS.
Web utility access via Wireless: Enabled. Remote Access: Disabled.
    UPnp: Enabled.
    Allow Users to Configure: Enabled.
Allow users to Disable Internet Access: Enabled.
Under Diagnostics, when I try and Ping test 192.168.1.104 (xbox when on and connected to LIVE), I get:
    PING 192.168.1.104 (192.168.1.104): 24 data bytes
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    --- 192.168.1.104 data statistics ---
5 Packets transmitted, 0 Packets received, 100% Packet loss
Also, when I do Traceroute Test for my Xbox's IP, I just keep getting:
traceroute to 192.168.1.104 (192.168.1.104), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
    1 * * * 192.168.1.1 Request timed out.
    2 * * * 192.168.1.1 Request timed out.
As for the Wireless Settings, it is all on the default settings with Wi-Fi Protected setup Enabled.
To add, I have tried connecting my modem directly to the Xbox and my connection is much improved. I have no difficulty getting the NAT open, for it seems my settings are working for that. Any help with these settings would be VERY much appreciated.

I own 2 of these routers (one is a spare) with the latest firmware and I have been having trouble with them for over a year.  In my case the connection speed goes to a crawl and the only way to get it back is to disable the SPI firewall.  Rebooting helps for a few minutes, but the problem returns.  All of the other fixes recommended on these forums did not help.  I found out the hard way that disabling the SPI Firewall also closes all open ports ignoring your port forwarding settings.  If you have SPI Firewall disabled, you will never be able to ping your IP from an external address.  Turn your SPI Firewall back on and test your Ping.

  • WRT310N help needed

    Hi
I recently bought a WRT310N router, and I have some problems with my connection.
I have 2 pcs, one downstairs (where my modem is connected to router via ethernet cable and has LELA 3.0 build: 8122.29) and one upstairs (connected by WUSB54GC), both pcs are running windows xp profesional.
The problem is I'm loosing my connection upstairs like 3-4 times a day and have to restart modem and sometimes it's opposite I have connection upstairs, but the one downstairs doesn't. If I don't use router and plug my pc directly to modem, I don't have any problems, so I'm guessing that it's the router.
I never used routers before, but now I have 2 pcs and I need it. So I would be very greatfull if someone could guide me here step by step on how to make this work.
    Thanks in advance.
and sorry for any Typos , English is not my first language

Adjust the Wireless Settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuratioon...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...See if you have a stable connection...As suggested Upgrade your router's firmware first...

  • Created new subject: HELP with WRT310N

I am not sure how to post so i have been looking for a problem simuliar to mine. I have a WRT310N and when i have 2 xboxs running at the same time it always comes up as 1 with a NAT type of MODERATE connection. Is this router a switch or is it capable of running to 2 xboxs with a open conection? I have default setting with the proper ports triggered. PLEASE HELP, i have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure this out. Once in a great while it comes up as both xboxs are open

  • WRT610N - Connections slows - must Release/Renew IP???? Help - Also with WRT310N

    Hello!
Here is a problem summary:  I just replaced my old WRT4G with a new WRT610N.   This never happened with my WRT54G.  At reboot of the WRT610N - I get ~6.2mbps (DSL) download speed like I have always gotten on my old router and this is the speed I'm paying for.  After 24 hours - I only get ~ 4 mbps download and after 48 hours it usually down to about 1.8 mbps......the problem is solved by going into the 610's Status Page and Releasing then Renewing the IP......it's better again and back to 6.2 for another 24 hours or so.......I also had a 310n that did the same thing and I returned it for the 610n only to have the exact same problem.....
    Details:
    CAT 6 Cable
Mounted vertically for better heat control
    - When it slowed down - I have a fan configured to cool it - cooled it so that everything was cool - not even warm to the touch - nothing changed and actually got worse - so heat doesn't seem to be an issue...
    - Primarily using 2 Wired connections and occasional wireless - but primarily this is over wired connections....
    - Firmware is most recent firmware as that is the way it came out of the box with the most recent firmware already installed
    - Had the exact same issue with the WRT310N
    - I've debugged it to the IP release/renew fixing it.......My connection comes through a Actiontec Qwest DSL modem/router but never had this problem with the WRT54G - nothing has changed there, same setup.
    - When it was slow - I bypassed the 610nand and speeds were normal - hooked it back through the router and slow until I release/renew the IP....
This is really weired and frustrating......If I can't fix it soon - I'll have to switch to another brand.....the only work around I can see is a daily release/renew - but I don't seen any programming for that feature.....
    Thoughts!!!!   THANKS!

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've already tried that and I'm at 1300 now.....also did the ping test and had it set at 1352.....but no differences....  I chated with Linksys yesterday and they told me take it back to the store and get another one.....  That won't solve this problem because I think it is a problem that linksys is simply ignoring as an issue....to have 2 routers do the same thing and both routers to be bad.....that tells me they have a problem in quality control or they don't know what's wrong......   I have one more work around I'm going to try which is to move over my dsl modem and let the linksys act as the modem.......my neighbor has it that way and his seems to work better.....we'll see....!   I'm not hold much hope and I'll probably end up returning it and just use my old G router or try another brand......

  • Help with wrt310n n mode operation

In n mode, i can connect to my laptop from the wireless router. However if I include wep or wpa-personal I cannot connect. the laptop is running vista. beacon int 75, DTIM 1, Frag 2306, RTS 2307
In G or mixed mode all works 54 mbps, but that defeats the purpose of N at 130mbps
    I would really appreciate help.

  • Help, My WRT310N doesnt work..

    Hi everyone,
I just bought my router this afternoon in a technology show and was installing it.
I followed the instructions and used Linksys EasyLink Advisor Setup Wizard. However, i got "error 321 : your ethernet cable does not seem to be connected properly. "
But i am pretty sure i have setup everything nicely, and i m surfing the net now using the modem and wireless router together. But i just cant seem to pass the stage of install router. Anyone can help? thanks in advance

Instead of using the easylink software or the setup disk, configure the router manually. Use the links for cable and dsl connection.

  • COMCAST ISP - WRT310N, Network Switches - HELP!!!!!!

    Let's try again:
Hi Folks:  I have a question and I will explain my setup in hopes someone will have an answer that will be sustained.
    I have:
    1. WRT310N
    2. 2 Linksys 5 Port 10/100 Switches
    3. RCA Comcast Cable Modem
Up until Friday, my cable modem was plugged into the WRT310N wireless router via the internet port (MAC CLONING OFF).  My two switches were also plugged into the 310N via the additional ports on the 310N, and also plugged into the 310N was my Solaris 10 server.  All worked properly.
Clearly something changed via Comcast, because that configuration no longer works and I changed nothing.  Through some troubleshooting, I find that the only way I can get back on is to turn on MAC CLONING, and disconnect my two 5 port switches.  The second I plug in any of the switches, I can no longer utilize my network.
Is there a way that I can have these two switches in place plugged into the router with mac cloning on and have it still allow the hosts on plugged into those switches to get on the inernet?
FYI, the wirless network still allows my laptops to get on, and plugging a machine directly into the router LAN ports still allow me to get on, its only when I go thru the 5 port Linksys switches (which used to work fine) is where i am having problems.
    Thoughts???????

Connect the two Switchs to the LAN of the router & configure the router according to the comcast cable connection .....

  • How do I add a WRT310N to my existing BEFSR81 network without getting IP conflicts?

How can I add a WRT310N to my existing BEFSR81 wired network without IP conflicts? I have used the setup disk that came with the WRT310 and everything seem to work correctly. The I noticed my wired printer had a IP address conflict and my laptop would connect wirelessly. I have tried to use the "cascading a linksys routher to another linksys router" but the WRT310 does not have the same web access as described. Any help would be appreciated.

You can cascade both the router together via an Ethernet cable. However you can not use the CD for one router to setup another router.Check this link for cascading two router.

  • WRT600N WRT310N PPTP will not work in some cases

    Hello All,
This is more of a warning than a request for help. If you are using the WRT600N or the WRT310N and you need to use PPTP VPN connections, these are not the routers for you!
The PPTP support only work with MS PPTP Servers, it does not work with other VPN routers such as Nortel Contivity's and others.
Please read other threads in this forum, in most cases the wireless connectivity does not work properly, and the router is prone to freeze, requiring it to be hard booted often.

  • Help with choosing product

I am currently looking to to expand the Internet in our building. We want to do this in both hard-wired and wireless capacities. I am looking at purchasing the WRV54G Router and have a question. The area in the building in question already has one hard-wired connection. This is what I would use to expand the capabilities in that area. Will the WRV54G Router still work, even if it is not directly connected to a Cable or DSL Modem, but only a network drop? Thanks for your help!

You would want a VPN endpoint to communicate securely over a public network (internet). VPN tunnel (requires 2 endpoints) is an encrypted form of communication between 2 networks/computers.
I would recommend WRT310N if you have no use for VPN, and it doesn't seem like a requirement for your needs. Once you add the router (whichever wireless you decide to go with) to the network, change it from gateway mode to router mode, and enable dynamic routing. If you have a static route, define it in routing section

  • WRT310N AP Only

Can the WRT310N be set as an access point only?  Other vendors provide this capability by disabling the NAT and routing on the WAN interface and allowing you to specify a local LAN IP on the WAN interface.

Here is quick guide to configure wireless router as access point only, see whether can help you..
