WRT320N can't connect... very weird problems...

So here's the deal...
I have a WRT320N router plugged into a cable modem. I get a WAN IP from the cable modem, I can surf the web, and everything is fine.
Suddenly, the router 'loses' the WAN IP and no matter how many refreshes on the router, I can't renew the IP. The only way to solve it is by unplugging the cable modem, unplugging the router, plugging in the cable modem (waiting for all the link lights), then plugging in the router. Then I get an IP again.
I tried turning off just the router, but it doesn't work either.
I'm open to suggestions -- I've checked every wire, every connection, everything. I have great throughput when I have a connection, but when it randomly drops (sometimes it will go a while before it does), but the reconnecting issue is driving me nuts.
Appreciate any help here -- I know all the normal tests like the ipconfig, or traceroutes, or all those. Oddly enough, I can ALWAYS get an internal DHCP address (192.168.0.5x -- my starting range), even if I can't get a WAN address. I can get it on wireless too, and I can ping the router until I'm blue in the face.
Thanks again, much obliged for help!

Try changing the MTU to 1350 on the router and check if that make any difference.

  • Apple Banned me, because of a very weird problem with my "Factory Unlocked"

Hi Everybody! Im having a very weird problem with my unlocked iphone 4.
First of all, i would like to apologize because of my english, is not very good. My native language is Spanish.
Well.. Im from Mexico, and here we can buy the iphone Unlocked on the Apple Online Store.
Here's my problem. Apple has exchanged my iphone 3 times.
I returned the iphone the first time because the screen was totally yellowish, other than that everything was working great!, that was by the end of September.
On October 20th, i recieved my second iphone, and then a bigger problem started .
Before i continue, let me give you this information: here in Mexico we have basically 3 cell phone companies
    1.- Telcel
    2.- Movistar
    3.- Unefon
OK, now on october 20th, i recieved my second iphone, and then procced to activate via itunes using my UNEFON sim card (microsim).
And every time i tried to activate it, only got this message onscreen:
    http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s2/jorgelomeli/Screenshot2010-10-29at24915PM. png
I though something was wrong with my brand new factory unlocked iphone 4.
I have 4 more simcards from my brothers (they all had iphone 4 too)
I tried telcel sim card, and i could activate my iphone. Then i insterted the Movistar microsim, and it worked too!! But then when i put the Unefon sim, the itunes logo inmediatly appears on the screen asking to activate on itunes, and when i tried that, the only response i got was the image above saying " The Simcard inserted on this iphone does not appear to be supported"
Weird thing here is, that, when i put my Unefon sim card on my brothers iphone 4, it worked great! on all of them, internet 3g, phone, wireless , evrything!
I called apple support, and they exchange the iphone for another one.
I recieved the third iphone on October 29. Last friday. and guess what? SAME PROBLEM! different serial number, same week production (week 42) but exactly the same message on itunes.
Very, very frustrated, i called apple again, and after 1 hour with thechnical support, they told me " We are sorry, but we can only offer you, your money back, NO MORE EXCHANGES FOR YOU"
I said why?... i dont want my money back! i want an UNLOCKED iphone!, but they refuse to give me another iphone.
When i asked techincal support, why my unefon sim card worked great on all three of my brothers iphone but not on mine, he just told me, "I really dont know, i guess they just got lucky" ****, this answer put all my trust i had on apple products for years, right on the garbage.
Since they refused to give me another iphone, i accepted my money back, and inmediatly after i finished the call, i asked my brother to buy me one more time an iphone 4 using his name, and his credit card. Now i have to wait until November 8-12 to recieve my new iphone, hoping this time i get a REAL UNLOCKED iphone, and not a partially unlocked iphone.
btw. i even went to Unefon costumer service and bought a new prepiad line, with a new microsim, just to be 100% sure that this problem is not because of the sim. And again didnt worked on my iphone, but it worked on any of my brothers iphone4.
Serial numbers of the 3 iphones:
79039C0U* (this one worked great with Unefon, only problem was yellow screen)
    85042GR4*
    81042FJB*
What do you suggest me? any info would be really aprecciated
FYI i also restore 4 times the last iphone and nothing seemed to work, i use 3 different computers, Macbook Pro, iMac, and an Hp with Windows 7, and the same message on all three computers.
Wierd thing also, one of my brothers bougth an iphone 4 this last week too, but he bought the 16Gb not the 32Gb. His iphone production week is 42 also! and when i put my Unefon sim in his iphone works great!
I dont know what else i can do, I just need to have faith that my new iphone coming this november will be real unlocked, but what if i'll recieve an iphone and then the same problem?? time for android? just kidding really guys, what can i do? anyone with similar problem like me? i dont wanna use Telcel or Movistar, i wanna use Unefon, and thats why i bought an Unlocked iphone
btw: jailbreak is not a solution for me, because i always like to use legal software on all my apple products, and because of the warranty.

According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937, there are two official carriers in Mexico (Movistar and Telcel) and neither carrier offers an unlocked phone.

  • Connecting online - weird problem

I have 2 Mac's which are connected wirelessly through an AEBS to a linksys router to a high speed modem. The last 24 hours I have come up against a very strange problem connecting to certain websites. I seem to be unable to connect to certain websites, some sites will work and others won't (error message that comes up is that "can't find the server"). If I reload a webpage that was just loaded sometimes it will come up and other times I get the above message. I have looked at the "Netwok utility tool" and tried pinging websites, and this may or may not work (message: "Unknown host"). It's almost random what connects or pings and what does not. I have also tried a direct wired connection through the router and the same problem occurs. Same problem on both computers ...
Any ideas what is the cause of this?
    Thanks in advance
    Rob

Yes, I have used the linksys router for the wired connection.
A HP LaserJet 2100 M printer is connected to the router in the basement, so I have to have the router. It's worked OK like this for the last 2 years, with occasional issues losing the wireless network. However, this hasn't been an issue for several months following an apple download.
I haven't checked lately for a router upgrade. I assume that you think the router is the problem? I also get intermittent similar problems pinging (wirelessly through the AEBS) to the linksys router -- i.e it either works correctly or gives the error message “cannot resolve http://192.168.150.100/: Unknown host“.
    Thanks
    Rob

  • Safari can't connect to server problem (just one website)

After I upgraded my mac about a week ago, I can't open a particular website using my home wifi (Safari can't connect to server) It lets me open page but one, which happens to be my mail website. However, when I use a public wifi, I can open that website without any problem. Any ideas why this happens?

    Linc.
I have been unable to connect to specific random favorite sites and tried your posts suggestion
"Boot into Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, reboot as usual and post the results."
I was able to connect to all my unavailable sites. Can you help me discover what is preventing my access when not in Recovery mode. I Made the Safari preferences match the recovery mode Safari preferences so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
    I ran EtreCheck

  • BT Vision - very weird problem - Library - Vision ...

    Hi all,
I'm seeing a very strange problem on our YouView box when using BT Vision. When we go into the Library - Vision TV section, programmes which require the password code before you can view them buffer heavily and then crash. By contrast, programmes in this section which don't require the password play fine. Until a few days ago they were working fine but now the problem is consistent at all times of day. Powering off systems and restarting makes no difference.  If we go to a different section - e.g. films - then films which require a password play fine with no problem at all. We are getting download speeds of over 12Mbps and On Demand players such as iPlayer or 4od are working fine.
    How do I solve this?
    cheers,
    Woody

  • Very weird problem - audio regions referencing elsewhere

    Hi there,
One of my projects is behaving VERY weirdly.
For example, some of my drum regions, in the middle of playing, suddenly click, drop out, and then play flute!
This is happening to a few of my audio regions. It seems to have something with the fade files, because when I drag the region out or in it sorts the problem out but when I load the project again the problem is back. Also, all of my fades just don't work and whenever I reload the project I have to redo all of the fades?!
    Any ideas??

It's odd that it only does this going from a video to an Audible.com audio book (Audible.com has it's own DRM which somehow integrates with iTunes, otherwise you have to use Audible's own software to load the audio books. I use iTunes for everything). Going from video to music, and audio podcast or another video seems to work okay. That's why I wondered if it was more of a bug than a physical problem.
In any event, the store I bought it at has a 30-day no-questions return policy. I've got the 30-day point marked on my calendar just in case!
I already returned an iPod nano under this policy to upgrade to the video iPod. The nano's battery completely failed on me after about 2 weeks. The store said they had a bunch of nanos with bad batteries.

  • Very weird problem with my iPod

I have a 4th generation 40 GB iPod. I have a strange problem happening with my iPod. After it is fully charged I can use my iPod no problems, after what seams a random amount of time the screen seams to freeze and go pixely. The music plays fine but I can't go through any menus. After the battery dies I charge it and the screen is working again fine.
Any ideas on why and how this happens would be great!

dk07, glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. I hope you can get it figured out as well. It is very frustrating.
Jeff, I appreciate the links, but I've been over those first two quite a few times, with no success. The last one is a bit more interesting though.
I guess what I mean to ask is; Is it possible that my iPod is actually charging all the way, even if I never get a "plug" icon and the bar never goes above 3/4 on the battery indicator, no matter how long I charge it? Can the battery indicator be 'that' off? I have yet to run into a help topic or tutorial that addresses specifically an iPod (with a brand new battery) never switching to the plug icon or never going beyond a 3/4 bar. I am willing to accept that the battery indicator may be inaccurate as to the actual charge, but the specific issues seem not to be as common as the general one; and that is what bugs me.

  • A VERY weird problem with the screen?!!!

Ok, first of all, I apologize for the title of the question above, it was difficult to put my problem into words.
I use the Instagram app a lot on my 3 month old retina iPad.  I have pressed the little thingy on the bottom right of the screen that reads ( x2 ) and always use the app in this bigger form.
When I brows the internet or read a book I have no problem, but today when I opened a picture with a dark brown color I noticed that there are parallel vertical lines on the screen that are of a lighter shade. I naturally though it was a problem with the picture so I checked it on another one and they are still there. Very faint and hardly noticeable but THERE.
    Now to the big surprise.
I realized the vertical lines are a faint outline of the Instagram app!!!!!!! The lines match the lines on the popular page (or people's accounts) where the pictures are placed in columns, the parts that are black between the pictures? Those perfectly match the faint lines on my screen!!!
    Guess what.
After a few minutes of shock I noticed that there is even a faint outline of the home button too.
    WHAT is this?
    What could have gone wrong?
My iPad has never been dropped, never in contact with water, never over heated, never opened....
    WHAT?

I don't know if that will help at all. I just didn't realize that you had it turned on, that may have nothing to do with it, but its worth a try. At least it will be something that you can eliminate.
If rebooting the iPad helped at all, you can consider resetting all settings. When you do that though, you must re-enter all of the device settings again. It's sort of a pain to have to reset all of your customized settings and it will take some time, but it doesn't erase any data. It does mean that you have to re-enter WiFi passwords, turn Siri on agai, allow apps access to location services and photos .... All of that good stuff.
I hope for your sake, thatit's just some weird anomaly going on with the screen right now and that it will correct itself. You could try closing all apps in the recents tray, restart the iPad and see if the ghosting goes away. That's harmless enough to try.

  • **Solved** "Can't connect to server" problem

If you connect to your wireless network and cannot use safari or youtube, i know how to solve your problem.
    -Open settings, select "wi-fi"
    - Select "DNS", then scroll over all the way to the left and delete the first set of numbers
    - Try safari again, and see if it works
    - If not, delete the next set of "dns" numbers
    - Continue until it works, (it did for me!)

    Hi eveyone again.
Iv'e hopefully found all the data I need for someone to help me. When I go to the Wi-Fi settings on the touch only IP and Subnet Mask details come up (which come up as 169.254.211.37 and 255.255.0.0 respectfully. All the rest are blank.
After looking on my computer through the ipconfig/all data on my computer I got the following:
    Description: Intel(R) PRO/WIRELESS 3945ABG Network
    Physical Address: 00-1B-77-3B-F2-59
    DHCP Enabled: Yes
    Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
    Link-local IPv6: fe80::6ce:a3d8:23ad%11
    IPv4 Address: 10.0.0.3 (preferred)
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 10.0.0.138
    DHCP Server: 10.0.0.138
    DHCPv6 IAID: 285219703
    DNS Servers: 10.0.0.138
I have a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 Wireless ADSL Gateway Router and have found the Wi-Fi WEP key Code, Wi-Fi SID (which is SpeedStream8993 although this comes up on the ipod as well as the internet sign on the ipod), Wi-Fi pin and our usename and password which I presume is for the internet (even though we never use it. i think its more our email internet account for bigpond - our server)
I hope this is all the information needed in order for someone to help. As you can tell I'm not very tech savy. Also if smeone is kind enough to reply and help could you tell me whether to have the settings on DHCP (which I've been doing), BootP or Static as well as whether the HTTP Proxy needs to be on 'Off', "Manual' or 'Auto' (all of which I have tried, entering the required data).
Looking forward to hearing your answers

  • Very weird problem

First off i would like to say thank you to all the Hp support people for putting up with me continueing to come back here asking the same kind of questions, Secondly i would like to appoligize that i have not explained this better and also, how long this explanation is.....
Now for the problem, My hard drive in a sense "Freezes" when i do things on my computer such as play games, watch youtube videos, or even talk on skype. Sometimes this problem happens when my computer is on and i'm not even on it, it's just idleing. Now, when i go to the task manager the disk is reading at 100% but when i scroll down everything on the list is at 0. After some time of this happening the computer will blue screen and crash. Also, another way it will crash is it will essentially shut off the backround, all the icons will disapear, the task bar will vanish, applications will crash and others will come up saying there was a hard drive error and then the computer will crash. Now, for the really weird part. My, computer will automaticaly restart after it has crashed and when it goes to do that it gets its self into a blue screen loop untill i power it down. Then, I have to wait 5 to 10 minuets before i can attempt to turn on my computer or it Will bring up a screen that say hard disk error please run so and so hard disk check. Now, when i go to try to do this "check" it is not even installed so i just shut it off and wait untill i can turn my computer back on then, it works fine untill it desides to crash again.
Now, i know what you might be thinking, the hard drive is going bad and needs to be replaced and everything will be fine, but no. I have replace the hard drive in the computer with a better one (also mecanical) to try to solve the problem but it has not proved to be doing much for me. Also, i have taken my computer to a friend that is a professinal and he removed all the viruses from the OS and the rest of the computer with the software that he had. Also before I took it to him I was not able to update my computer what so ever. Now that he has removed the viruses from it i am able to manually install them from windows update. If i try to leave it up to the automatic then the update fails and the computer undos the changes and goes back into windows.
So, at this point i can honestly say that it is not the hard drive it's self as a peice of tecnology, As for the operating system I am not sure. Recently I completely reset the computer removeing all my files and reinstalling the operating system. I'm not sure if the reset process actually reinstals the entire OS or just part of it which could still be allowing the problem to happen. When the computer is just on though the problem does not happen (usally). I also do not have the disk for the OS so i can't just reinstall it. But, then again i'm not completly sure that that is the problem
         Time for specs.
                              i5 intel 3.00 GHz processor
                              Nvidia GT 625 Graphics card
1TB SATA Western Digital (Black) Hard drive
6GB of ram (4gb stick and 2gb stick)
The MotherBoard is the one that came with it originally (so what ever that is)
Now that i have had this problem for a while i desided to do a few tests. The hard drives read and write speeds are 170Mb per second, so it should be more than capable to handle what im doing on my computer. The next thing i did was i opened task manager and i downloaded a GPU monitor from the inter net so i could monitor everything that was happening while this problem emerged. Then, i opened the game JUST CAUSE 2, a game my computer should be more than able to play.
    RECOMMENDED:
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 2.4GHz or equivalen
    Memory: 3GB system Memory
    Hard Drive:
Graphics: DX10 compatible graphics card with 512 MB of memory
(Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 series/ ATI Radeon HD 5750 series)
Sound: 100% DirectX 10 compatible Dolby Digital 5.1 sound card
    DirectX®: Microsoft DirectX 10.1
Then,  When i bgan to play i started to watch the lavels of all my hardware. The CPU was running at a prtty average level for playing a game, The ram was at 3GB out of the 6GB that i have, The hard drive was running as normal pulsing every now and again to update grapic textures and send nessasary files to the game to make it run correctly. Then i look to the graphics card, The graphics card GPU load was averageing 98% The cpu was at its max clock speed, the cards integrated memory was at 789Mb out of the 1Gb that it has the fan speed at 47% temperature was around 47 celsius which is not terribly warm. Now, i am not sure if a graphics card has anything to do with the hard drive but if it does that could explain why. The game it's self was running at 60FPS and i was experiencing no lag at all. Then, randomly the hard drive began to do its problem that it has been having where it is at 100% but litterly nothing is happening. Then i notice that when the hard drive froze so did the graohics card. When the drive froze the graphics card droped down to zero percent and thats when the game froze. Then there were other time were the hard drive would freeze but the graphics card would not so the game would still be playable.
Personally i do not know a whole lot on how computers actually work. Most of my knoledge is, what the parts are and what they do, but past that i have know clue. I turn the computer on do a few tests like i did and that ends my knowlege on how to fix the computer so, i appriciate being able to come here and get a little extra guidence. i hope that was not to much to take in but i wanted to be as descriptive as possible to maybe find a solution to this problem.
If you happen to need any screen shots of anything whiles its happening i can get those, and if you need any more information please don't be afraid to ask!

HMM. I am no where near a expert I am just a average computer user but I know that with the advent of Windows 8.1 some games have been reported to have compatability issues under the new windows expecilly ones that came out before windows 8 or before windows 7.  as for the other stuff you mentioned I actually have no idea but it does sound like something is dieing or got really messed up in the computer.

  • Very weird problem - not your average black screen

So, I finally broke down and decided to ask for help on this. I have a good amount of experience and have not been able to get this to work consistently. The laptop is admittedly pretty beat up, but it works without a hitch once it's booted. It seems like complete luck getting it to work as if it starts up when it's done frustrating me. I need it as a node for an Adhoc project and it would be great if it could work normally again.
    Laptop:
Toshiba M305 w/ Turion x2 and Radeon graphics.
I don't think it makes a difference but I'm running Debian on it with an SSD. I've also replaced the original keyboard. The problem started months after these changes after the laptop took a hit off the bed (carpet). I get a black screen as soon as I turn it on after shutting it down. The screen won't turn on but I hear the DVD drive make its normal noise and the fan spins. If I'm persistent enough with a combination of below tactics or just plain luck it will start back up and work perfect.
What I've tried to no avail:
-removing the battery and the power and holding down the power to drain the capacitors
-taking out one of both memory modules (i think it does the POST because it beeps when there's no memory)
    -removing the hard drive
Things I don't think it is and why:
-don't think it's the screen because when it works it lights up fine, also it has the same issue when plugged into a vga display
-don't think it's the hard drive nor the memory as it has the same problem with either off
I'm inclined to think it's a MoBo problem? But then why would it work perfectly fine when it feels like it... I would think nothing is fried. The next thing I was going to try is removing the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS settings and while it's open check for loose connectors I guess.
Any help is truly appreciated! Let me know if there's any other info I can provide. Thanks.

^ There is a mention in there of a problem with faulty switch or something, related to whether or not the machine can tell the lid is open.   If it works sometimes, that plus it was jolted in a fall might say loose connection someplace.
irisvista.com shows pictures of disassembling various Toshibas, in case you hadn't found that site yet.

  • Has anyone found the answer to the "can't connect to wireless" problem?

Since 10.5 I have not been able to connect to either our home wireless network or the city free wireless network. Our other systems running 10.4 connect perfectly. We also have 2 PCs which work fine. I installed 10.4 in a seperate drive in my system and it works fine. I tried to go back to 10.4 on my main HD but that turned into a bucket of worms. When you try to go back archive and install does not carry back your settings, prefs, mail, etc. I have Googled the problem and there are many people with the same problem. A few people said they had a fix but none worked for me. Anyone have anything new??

  • Very Weird Problem with Images on Websites while browsing with Safari

    Picture says it...
    http://home.mountaincable.net/~jameslin/1.JPG
but when I open the same webpage in IE all the images load up in their proper covers just fine.
Also no I haven't done any photo editing in photoshop or anything recently, this just happened out of nowhere it was totally random. Also I have 2 monitors and the colour problems happen on both of them..... so I'm very confused

    Okay.
Just checking ... when you reinstalled Safari, did you reinstall Apple Application Support as well?
If not, there's instructions for doing that on XP in the following post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10598385&#10598385
(Some of the main Safari dlls live in Apple Application Support in version 4.0.4 ... so if there's a really subtle issue going on with one of those, the "complete and careful" reinstall of both AAS and Safari might do the trick.)

  • Very weird problem: Apps not opening

Since yesterday, I've been having this strange problem. I have an 07 15' MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. What has been happening is my application don't open (Mail and Safari are the only ones that do). So, I repaired permissions, held option, command, p, and r on the startup and now I just re-installed Snow Leopard (before I did, I booted from the disc, ran Disk Utility, and erased my hard drive). Now, after all that, Mail and Safari are still the only applications that open. Can it be that I restored my documents from my Time Machine backup? I thought Time Machine will import everything but system settings? I hope someone can help, this is extremely annoying.

    Hi Greystre3t,
It 's a pity that the restore didn't solve your problem. I don't have another idea than what you suggest. The inside of osx is a total mystery to me.
In my case when I tried to open the application e.g. iPhoto, it throws up an error message and a detailed crash report (automatically sent to Apple). Something to do with AppKit ???
    What I tried:
Verified the HD, repaired permissions -> no success
New account with admin rights -> same problem
Cleaned up the system with OnyX -> no success
But booted in save mode: iPhoto, Pages, QT... got launched
A normal boot afterwards -> no success
Hopefully you get your Mac up and running without loosing too much data.

  • Very Weird Problem plz help!!

    Here's what happened:
Every night before I go to bed, I charge my iPhone 3g. Last night I plugged it in to charge it,
and I made sure that it saidmitnwas charging before I went to sleep. When I went to unplug it this morning, it said that the battery was only at 20% left. I checked the plug ( where usb
plug plugs into wall adapter), and it wasn't fully plugged in. This is where it gets weird.
I pushed the USB ug fully into the wall adapter, it came up saying it was fully charged,
and I unplugged it from the wall outlet. I keep the charger in a place where myself or
nothing else would have been able to unplug it. It seems to be working fine now, but this was really weird.
It said it had only 20% battery life left, and then one second later it was fully charged.
    Plz help me!

possibly the screen had frozen during a display, or hadbeen about to display the 20% status and froze. It still took the full charge and the displayed an action in its cache memory that was no longer accurate hence it then flicked to showing full charge.
