WRT330N and DELL 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Rev 2.0

Well it was time to upgrade the house with two new DELL Inspiron 530s.
Each with their own "DELL 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Rev 2.0"
Now the (problem) we are having is we are lucky to get 13.0 Mbps & that's if we stay online. Our World of Warcraft gets booted a lot. Which makes gaming hard when I purchased the WRT330N for gaming.
We have the latest drivers for the Wirelss adapters, Firmware is up to date.
Setup is as follows.
Wireless Setting:
Network: Wirelss-N Mixed
Wireless Name (SSID): My own thing there
Radio Band: Wide - 40 MHz channel
Wide Channel: 9
Standard Channel: 2.462 GHz - cH 11
SSID Broadcast: Disabled
Advanced Wireless Setting:
Trasmission Rate: Auto
CTS Protection Mode: Disabled
Beacon Period: 50
DTIM Interval: 3
Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
RTS Threshhold: 2347
Network Density: Low
Wireless Security: Disabled. We currently use Wireless MAC Address Filtering.
Any suggestions?

I am having the same issues.  I have the same router but a different laptop.  Mine is a Inspiron 1545 with an Intel 5100 AGN card.  So the solution is to ditch the Linksys router and get a D-Link?  what say you Linksys

Today's AEBS release is the full 802.11n spec, shouldn't the older draft 802.11n AEBS' be upgradeable as well?

I understand that the official 802.11n pretty much matched the latest draft spec, which Apple has tried to track with firmware updates. As a result, there may be no firmware updates to reflect the new standard.

  • Why no update for WRT300N for Draft 802.11n Version 2.0 specs?

I see that WRT350N had a BIOS update in August that implemented the Draft 802.11n Version 2.0 (specs).
Why hasn't Linksys provided one for the WRT300N?
    Would be nice...

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

  • Upgrading to a 802.11n Airport Express Card in my Macbook Pro

I found this question on the forums answered over 4 years ago and thought to ask it to get a more current response given that both hardware and sellers have changed significantly in the time passed.
I've also found it difficult to replace the wireless card in my Macbook Pro.  I was able to track down the current part number in my device as being 661-3890; but I figure it may be better just to upgrade to an 802.11n compatible card.  I've found a few listings on ebay but they are not straight forward.  I want to make sure that anything I might buy is at least compatible with my computer.
A creditable site, OWC, has a part number 661-5048 they sell that is compatible but is on the upper end of the price spectrum.  I have the A1150 Macbook Pro (1,1) which I believe is also referred to as the late 2006/early 2007 model.  In my research I was able to deduce that some people have had success replacing their cards with the Atheros AR5BXB6 card although there appears to be some debate regarding the different Manufacture Part numbers (482261-001 and 482261-002).  There are a few of these listed on auctions (used and new) but the range in price is $100.
I'm new to the Mac screen and would appreciate any help in the right direction as I have yet to find an authority that confidently and clearly states what cards are compatible with my box.  Thanks!

  • Update ralink 802.11n wireless lan card

Receiving a pop up saying that there is an update to ralink 802.11n wireless lan card. Is this crucial?Bad past experience with updating things that weren't crucial.  Thanks!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your desktop computer displays a pop-up message prompting you to update the wireless card installed. I would be happy to assist you in this matter! If you are not experiencing any difficulties connecting to a wireless network on your computer, I would not count the update as crucial. If your computer is having trouble connecting to the network, even if the problem is intermittent, it may be a good idea to install the update. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions or concerns feel free to post back! Cheers

  • DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile broadband Mini-Card - Win 8

    Good morning everyone.
I have a big problem with ultrabook "YOUR 3460."
I updated the S.O. Windows 8, but the "DELL WIRELESS 5560 HSPA + Mobile Broadband Mini-Card" does not work.
On the website of DELL, I found a type of driver, but installing it in the device manager, does NOT recognize the card. How do I proceed? Can someone help me, please? Tomorrow I need to connect mobile ...
    Thank you.

    Hi Fabio79,
Please check in BIOS if the WWAN card is detected in BIOS or not. Also, is the wireless driver (network controller) listed in device manager under 'Network Adapters' or 'Other Devices'?
Turn off the computer, restart it and press F2 key as soon as the Dell logo appears.
Navigate to 'Advanced' screen, select 'Miscellaneous Devices' and press Enter.
Check if 'Internal WWAN' is enabled. Navigate to Exit screen and select 'Exit Saving Changes'. Once done, download the drivers from this link: http://dell.to/XEzTO0.
    Hope this helps.
Keep me posted with the status.

  • WLC with 2 WLANs, 1 voice @ 2.4GHz and 1 data @ 5GHz 802.11n

I have a WLC 4400 series and am using 1142n APs.  Am planning on adding Wireless IP Phones such as 7921/7925 as well as a couple 9971's.  Is it possible to have 2 WLANs, one to connect the voice endpoints to running @ 2.4GHz and another WLAN with a different SSID for data clients @ 5GHz?  All data clients have 802.11n NICs and can operate @ 5GHz.  I have enough APs so that the lessened range of 5GHz won't pose any issues.  Ideally I'd like to see connection rates in the 240mbps-300mbps range on the data clients with data throughput rates of 100mbps+ (I don't think this ought to be an issue, I'm aware that wireless is half-duplex and that connection rates do not necessarily indicate actual throughput rates).  I am also NOT a wireless expert.  I'm still fairly new to working with the WLC and the managed APs as such.
The reason for 2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously is that the voice endpoints are all 2.4GHz radios, I believe 802.11b/g.  I also want to keep voice clients separate.  This way, I believe I can optimize one WLAN for data clients without having them "suffer" so to speak by having to operate at a lower level as the voice clients.  Also, I want the voice separate for quality there (separate voice VLAN).  If I am correct, 802.11n data rates can also be achieved @ 2.4GHz, but only using the 20MHz as opposed to 40MHz width.  So I'd like one WLAN to be 2.4GHz, 20MHz (voice) and the other WLAN 5GHz, 40MHz (data).
I'd like to hav both WLANs broadcasted from all the APs simultaneously.  Am I correct that such a configuration is possible with the WLC 4400 series and Aironet 1142n APs?  WLC is running 7.0.240 btw, current stable.  I'm also starting with a clean config on the WLC.  All DHCP will be handled by an external DHCP server also.  Thank you very much for any suggestions/guidance on this.  Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
I'll be happ to supply any config information to assist with this, just let me know what is desired/useful.

Thank you for your prompt response.  I only have 1 WLC, it is a 4402-50.  I believe that 7.0.240 is the most current release for that model.  I think anything higher I need to go to the WLC5508 (or vWLC?)
Also, I wasn't aware that the 7921/25 were 5GHz, since they are both 802.11g.  Thank you for the information.
If I understand you correctly, I'm best creating 2 WLANs, but both at 5.0GHz for both data and voice?
Also, sorry to confuse the issue further, but I was thinking about this after writing the original post, I'd like to also have a "guest" WLAN that supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz for maximum client compatibility (as I have no way of knowing what tpye of WLAN NIC would be in guest devices).  Am I correct in assuming that I would create a separate WLAN for all these, including a separate SSID.
The part that is confusing me some now is the "AP Groups".  Do I leave a single "Default-group" and create multiple WLANs with that.  If I'm correct, this way I can push the WLANs and SSIDs out through all the WAPs in that group.  I want these WLANs to be available from any AP in the organization, not have some APs for one WLAN, other APs for another WLAN, etc.

  • Data and Voice separation with 802.11n

    Hi there
I'm interessting in some design guides. I would deploy data in 2.4 GHz band and the voice in 5 GHz band. But aren't there problems with the 802.11n deployment, I thought that this works better in 5 GHz.
What recommendations would you make and did you have some issues with this design?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,
You can find all kinds of documentation on Cisco's 802.11n homepage: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/netsol/ns767/networking_solutions_package.html
To answer your questions, there is no "problem" with running 802.11n in the 2.4GHz space, but there are limitations. You cannot use channel-bonding, which is the primary source of the added bandwidth that 802.11n offers. If you want to see 150Mbps data rates, you'll need to deploy it in a 5GHz implementation.
Another advantage to running in 5GHz is that you can isolate your 802.11n traffic from your 802.11b/g traffic on the 2.4GHz radio. This will prevent slowdown that can occur when legacy clients coexist with 802.11n clients.
So yes, you're correct to say that it does work better in 5GHz. The nice thing is that most 802.11n chips in laptops support this band.
That said, it would be best if voice and data can both exist in the 5GHz space. You can accomplish this by creating different SSIDs for your voice and data networks. There is nothing wrong with deploying both in 5GHz.
Let me know if you have anymore questions. Thanks!
    Jeff

  • MBP and Netgear RangeMax NEXT (802.11n)

    Hi,
Does anyone know if MBP works with RangeMax 802.11n? I am thinking about getting one of these but wondering the compatibility issue.
    15.3" MacBook Pro 2.33GHz Core2Duo & 20" iMac 2GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   30GB iPod, BlackBerry 8700g and can't ask for more!!!

I have a friend who uses one of the RangeMax 802.11g models with no problems. They do list Mac OS among the system requirements for both. I also understand from reviews that the interface has changed very little. I would say that bodes well for the 802.11n model working with the Mac as well as the 802.11g did.
I have never been impressed with Netgear using any wireless cards than their own though. As I understand it top speeds can only be achieved using their wireless card. I have also found range to only be acceptable (despite the RangeMAX name) with Netgear routers, never great.
YMMV. Those have just been my experiences with them.

  • Need Recommendation for Windows USB 802.11N Dual Band Card for AEBS

I am building a very large WiFi network to support 100 users. The plan is to use only Dual Band Airport Extreme Base Stations.
Can anyone recommend a compatible USB adapter that will work on Windows (XP, Vista, & Windows 7)?
Looking for something that has 802.11n + 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Any help is appreciated. (Google has been help to tell me what WON'T work... leaving me concerned that my network is going to have issues when it comes to PC users).

The one PC that is running Windows 7 which is the only PC running Windows 7, the rest are XP or Vista has a Atheros AR5007 wireless card keeps dropping connection to the airport. The computer is a HP Pavilion 1448dx. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to fix the signal drop to that computer, all of the other computers are fine.
Yes, please check with either HP or Atheros to see if there is an updated driver for the wireless card.
Another quick question: I was wondering if I could hook up my previous router (Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router) to my Airport Extreme and have the PC's run off the belkin and my mac just run off the Airport Extreme and solve the issue with the one PC dropping connection.
Yes, it may be possible. The Belkin would have to be connected to the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) via an Ethernet patch cable and reconfigured as a bridge. In addition, the Belkin's wireless radio channel should be changed to one at least 3-5 channels away from the AEBSn's channel.

  • Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) Firmware 7.3.2 and the Apple support website link isn't working.  Does anyone have it?

    Hi,
I have a Win7 Premium and a Time Capsule bought around 2009.  I'm using airport utility 5.5.3 and the TC has the 7.6.1 firmware.  I can both wirelessly and using the ethernet cabl connect to the network but not to the hard drive (I get the netbios error lthough netbios is enabled).  I have pretty much tried ALL the solutions that have worked for many people... too many to mention... the only thing that many people have claimed worked for the (albeit the posts are a bit old) is to revert to the 7.3.2 firmware which I cannot find.
http://www.apple.com/support/?artnum=305301 brings me to the default support page for apple products, so no joy there.  this is causing my hair to go prematurely gray.
I am willing to try almost any solution you guys may suggest, but in addition: does anyone know where the 7.3.2 firmware can be found?
I don't need a book corner as I read most books in e-format...
    thanks in advance.

as a former IT, I have exhausted all options I think except for rolling back the firmware.
The apple site isn't down but the page: http://www.apple.com/support/?artnum=305301

On another note (for anyone who has run into this problem and recognizes the symptom), when I submit the password on the apple popup that says "network disc detected, enter password" the pop up pauses for a good minute (not responding) before the #53 error with the netbios comes on.  I have also turned off the McAfee firewall and tested it... no joy.

    hi Ace_Rimmer
Just to check, have you tried re-downloading the driver and installing it again?
If that doesn't work, can you try these steps:
    1. Download this A540 Wireless Driver - Win7 x64.zip and extract it on the desktop. When done, run the setup.exe inside and observe.
    2. If same problem, open Device Manager > Other Devices > Network Controller (right click) then choose: Update driver software > Browse my computer for driver software and point it to the A540 Wireless Driver folder on the desktop then hit ok to manually install the driver.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Windows 7 x64 802.11n Wirless LAN Card #2 Randomly stops working

Hello, I've had a re-occurring issue with my network card over the past 2 weeks, it randomly started after I received a windows update. Often as I'm playing a game / surfing the web I will experience a moment where I lose all connectivity and my wireless
connection is telling me it is "Limited connectivity". Although this happens if I go to my Device Manager and scan for available hardware changes to my network adapters, my Wireless LAN Card adapter disappears, after scanning a couple more times
it will return and I will regain all of my connectivity and the issue will not happen again until I reboot my computer.
I'm not sure how I can fix this as I have opened my computer to check if the network card was loose, and everything seems like it should be working properly. It is also strange that it began occurring after an update.

Download and install the latest Wireless LAN Card driver from the website of the manufacturer.

Turned out that the manufacturer switched websites which must have messed up something with the auto updating, thanks.
