WRT350N Firmware v1.03.6

What happened to the WRT350N  Firmware 1.03.6 that was posted on the download site about 7-10 days ago?  Anyone else know where it is posted or why it was removed?

I'm afraid I found the basic problem with all WRT350N units: Heat
As my unit was out of waranty anyway, I decided to open it and sniff around, as I'm an Electrical Engineer and I've designed many routers and high end communication equipment.
The first thing I noticed after I removed the outer silver shell on both sides is that the router itself is enclosed in yet another plastic box (this prevents good ventiation to components). By taking this inner box apart I exposed the guts of the router. To my surprise, there was tons of copper tape all over the board, like bandages...Most likely this was necessary to curb RF emissions and pass FCC certification. Again this keeps the heat trapped inside and components cooking up as I could tell just by touching them and nearly burning my fingers.
To reduce design time and leaverage other Linksys products, the wireless portion turned out to be nothing more than a standard PCMCIA card in its original metal enclosure, stuck in a cheap socket and resting on top of the main board, with very little heat dissipation material. It was also very hot to the touch and most likely it was operating (or trying to...) at a much higher temperature than it was designed for.
The fix: In order to keep the components cool, I discarded all original plastic case and mounted the board directly on the back of my desk, leaving enough space on the bottom for air flow. I then attached a 12V DC fan blowing directly on it, for added cooling. I did the same thing with the DSL modem.
I have never have a lock up again or lost internet connectivity since then.
Try this at your own risk though... Good Luck

  • Samba bug in WRT350N firmware

I just bought a WRT350N, and my network computers would not appear in 'my network places'.
I removed the apostrophe's in each computer's name - and the computers appeared on the network. Unfortunately, I was not able to remove the apostrophe on my Mac.
There is a well-documented bug in Samba 3.0.x that causes computers with apostrophe's in their computer name to not be recognized. The WRT350N firmware is an embedded linux kernel with a version of samba that contains this bug.
CISCO/LINKSYS - PLEASE UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM!!!

What is your OS? I'm using WinXP and I can't even change my computer's name to a name with an apostrophe.

  • Need download link for WRT350N firmware

I have been looking for the latest official firmware for the WRT350N, but when I go to Linksys's official page located here:
    http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT350N
There is no official download link for any model there.
Is there anyone that has the latest firmware or could provide me a download link?
Any reason why they are no longer listed on the site?

Try requesting the firmware in link below. I suppose you can even try to request the firmware from Cisco. It was never clear to me whether or not WRT350N was a linksys product or a Cisco business product.. Can't hurt to try both places. I used to have the latest firmware for the WRT350N on my hard driver, but is so old, I no longer have it.

  • WRT350N firmware upgrade not working

Hi, I've just been given an unused WRT350N router.
I've had a few problems getting it setup on my MAC (OSX 10.5.6), but it transpired they were problems using Firefox which were resolved when I started using Safari. However, I still have one outstanding problem with upgrading the firmware....
I want to upgrade the firmware from the original 2.0.10 to the latest available of 2.0.19. I have downloaded this from the Support page, which gives me a readme text file and a .IMG file which i presume is the firmware file (all instructions I have found imply it should be a .BIN file)
I have connected my router to the MAC using a wired connection and followed the firmware upgrade instructions (selecting the .IMG file), followed the rest steps (including using the hardware reset button, and the software factory defaults option), but when the router comes back up it still says its at firmware 2.0.10.
I get no error messages, and have noticed that at the end of the upgrade it does NOT display the "Upgrade is sucessful, rebooting.." message.
I have been through this several times with same results. Any ideas please ?
    Thank in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have this same problem now with firmware for  WAG54GS   the zip file produces a  .IMG file after running winzip
This file is not acceptable to the firmware upgrade as a .BIN file.
The firmware is expecting a .bin format.   It does not like this .IMG file.
The documentation all refers to .bin.
Just renaming the file as .bin causes the linksys to abandon the upload.
I am on a Windows XP.       .BIN is UNIX/LINUX terminology.    Do I have to do the firmware upgrade on Linux?
Tried to get some software to checkout the   .img file but nothing likes it.
WAG54GSv1-E1-AnnexB-ETSI-ML-1.01.05-code.img  is what my winzip gets.
What am I supposed do with this file to get it into the right shape for the     WAG54GS?
It wants   .bin file    not this?

  • WRT350n Firmware Update 1.03.7 - Web page load really slow after update

Well I updated my WRT350N with the new firmware, but now web pages load very slowly, and streaming video is even slower. Before the update it was blazing fast. I run a mixed network of wireless N and G. Both Wireless N connections connect at 200 or higher Mbps now, which is a great improvement.
Anybody got any ideas why web pages and steaming video run so slow now.
Also downloading files never goes above 30 kb/sec now.
I use comcast cable and downloads were so fast before.
    Thanks in advance.

check the download speed and the streaming video when the computer is directly connected to the modem

  • WRT350N firmware upload killed my download speed.

I updated the firmware (v1.04.4) on my WRT350N (version 1) and checked my download over WIFI N.
Now I get 1MBs download and 1 MBs upload!!!!
If I plug in wired Iget 12+ MBs download and 2+ MBs upload.
If I plug my laptop directly into my Cable Modem I get 15+ MBs download and 3+ upload.
Whats going on - and whats the next step.
Oh and I checked my iPhone 4 and Im getting 0.4MBs download and 2MBs upload.  How crazy is that!
    Help Help!
    Gerry

i resolved the first part of my issue myself.
Updating the linksys firmware was what killed my speed.
The Latest Linksys firmware for my router, with factory default settings, is not compatible with the latest driver on my Intel wireless-N card in my laptop.
As I was not able to roll back my router frimware (even a restore factory settings doesnt do that) I had to roll back my laptop wireless card driver to a previous driver.
    The settings that do work
Linksys WRT350N V1.0 with firmware V104.4 and default settings
    Intel Wifi 4965AGN driver V11.1.1.22 8/8/2007
Note that I tried many different linksys settings, including channels, with both versions of the Intel driver, and the consistent , repeatable solution was to roll back the Intel wifi driver.
I will post my iphone issue as a new post.

  • WRT350N firmware feature request

The addition of a printer server to the next firmware release for the WRT350N (hardware version 2.0) would greatly be appreciated. Any plans for this addition? I gather it is quite simple to add.

Please, one torrent is not enough... needs more connections lol.

  • WRT350N firmware

Anyone know if the latest firmware for the WRT350N (1.3.07) is 802.11n version 2 compliant?  Related user guide to 1.3.07 indicates it is draft 802.11n only.  Trying to figure out if this box will support version 2 802.11n and when it might be available.

Ya know, I would love to know the answer to this as I have one of these, I just dont have any N cards so never cared, got it for the gig switch.
I assume it is in fact N and not the pre N as it is still being sold and still on the same version, but if you or someone else knows for sure please post it.
    Thanks

  • WRT350N: Firmware 1.04.3 (Apr 11, 2008)

    Hi,
I just purchased WRT350N, configured and check that all is well.  However, I noticed that the firmware version reported is 1.04.3 dated on April 11, 2008. This version of firmware is not listed in the Linksys support web site.  I want to know :
    1) where can I find release note on this version
    2) whether this is an officially supported version
    3) can I revert the firmware version to 1.03.x listed on the web site (especially if answer to Q2 is a no).
    Thanks

Well the firmware provided to you have on the Router is the Latest one so you will not find any release note of the Latest firmware. There is no point Degrading the firmware of the Router as everything is working fine with the Router.

Go to the control panel/network connections and right click on the local area connection.  Click properties and roll down to highlight Internet protocol TCP/IP.  Click the properties button and check "use the following IP address".  Fill in 192.168.1.5 and tab through.  The subnet mask will fill itself out to 255.255.255.0
make the preferred DNS server 192.168.1.1 (the router) and click okay.
If the computer succeeds in getting an IP address (verify this by opening a command window and typing "ipconfig" and seeing what it say under the local area connection), type ping 192.168.1.1 in the same command window and see if the router responds.
If so, you can use the TFTP.exe utility from linksys, available from linksysinfo.org at
    http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=4
Run this program, point it at the router IP 192.168.1.1 and show it the bin file you want to use.  Might be a good time to use the released firmware rather than a beta.  But that is your call.  You can get the latest firmware from the linksys page.
If you are unable to ping the router, try putting the ethernet cable in a different port.  Don't ask me why, but when my router bricked, it would only work on slot 4.  Found this out by accident, but I was able to fix the router when I did this.  If it does not work on any slot, you may be screwed.  Call linksys and ask for a RMA to get a replacement.  I would not tell them you bricked it with a beta firmware!

It's bad to hear you are all having problems, I was skeptical about updating but I did, but I backed up my settings then reset the router to default settings first, then updated the router, rebooted by holding the reset button for 30 seconds, then restored my settings and my router has been fine for 2 days straight with the 1.0.36 firmware. I hope you guys get yours working soon and Good Luck.

  • WRT350N Firmware v1.03.7 Dropped Connection

Is there anybody who has the same problem with dropped connection?

Well not sure if its happening to your Wired connection, Wireless connection or both but will provide you with some steps that can help for both.
    1. Access your router by typing in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of Internet Explorer and Clone your MAC address. Some ISP record the MAC address and when a MAC address is not recognized they will drop the connection.
It also can be an interference issue. please try the below steps if you have not done so already.
    1. Try switching to different channels, (1,6,and 11 are best) but do not hesitate to try the other channels to see which is best for you.
    2. lets say that all the devices in your home are Wireless G , then set the router to Wireless G only, this way the router will not search for Wireless B
    3. Any devices that are in the 2.4 GHz range are moved away from the router.
    4. Always check for the latest firmware for the router
    5. Always check for the latest driver for the wireless adapter.
    Hope this will help.
    Good luck,
    Ttech

  • Website Blocking? WRT350N Firmware Version: v1.03.7

I am trying to block a few websites through the router, but no matter what I put in, it will not block anything.  Any particular reason why.  I have other Linksys routers that work just fine, but this model will not work for me.  The USB hard drive like this not work either.  Any suggestions on either.

Download Firmware 6.27 MB...This is the same firmware you already have on your router...
I would suggest you to flash the router's firmware and reset it and re-configure it...
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...See if that makes any difference...
NOTE : Make sure no USB Drive is connecting while upgrading or resetting the router...

  • WRT350N firmware update utility crashes

    I ran
    WRT350N_1_03_2_US_upgrade_utility.exe
in Windows XP SP2. I tried in two different computers with same result:
After entering password screen shows two http 404 not found messages, and  cpu goes to 100% forever.
    How to fix this ?
I also tried in window Vista. In Vista utility says that it cannot connet to router or my password is invalid.
Accessing router from browser works OK in all cases.

check the download speed and the streaming video when the computer is directly connected to the modem
