WRT350N - How to read associated usb drive??

Ok, so I've set everything up. All our laptops have a wireless internet connection and our desktop is connected via ethernet. I have a Lacie USB drive I need to connect to the network. When I go through the Linksys software setup, the drive is recognized, but none of the computers can read the drive's contents. I have no security in place to ease the initial setup process. I can access the router page from the laptops, but that's as far as I can get. I'm sure I'm overlooking something very simple - I just can't figure it out. The USB light is lit on the router. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Vince

go to start >> search for computer
type \\192.168.1.1 and click search .. you should find the drive.. let me know whether this helps you or not ..

Why can't you provide specific instructions here in HT203909 (Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD) about how to make the USB drive bootable?  The article referenced for partitioning the drive is not dedicated to Bootcamp--too long, too many options.  How do you make it bootable?

If your BC Assistant shows the option to create a USB Installer, it automatically is marked as bootable. There is no need to have manual intervention to make a bootable USB. Once the process is manually modified, it is supported by the person modifying it.
You have two or three options (depending on your Mac Model).
    1. Create USB... - Use a USB2 flash drive, which is erased and formatted. If your Mac supports ISOs then BCA will prompt for the Media. Any Mac which does not have a built-in Optical drive will support an ISO. There are specific Mac models which support both, DVD and USB based installation.
    2. Download Software from Apple servers...
    3. Install Windows...
Are any additional instructions really necessary?

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

  • How to format a USB drive to FAT 16 on Mac OS X 10.7?

How to format a USB drive to FAT 16 on Mac OS X 10.7? Disk utility does only FAT32 formatting.

I assuming you really need FAT16 for some external requirement, otherwise why not FAT32??
See this for formatting an SD card to FAT16 via Terminal commands.
The same procedure should work for any USB drive. YMMV.
    iPartition will also format FAT16.
I don't know if the free version wiill do it.

  • My Macbook suddenly won't read my usb drive..

My 2012 Macbook Pro Retina suddenly won't read my usb drive (its a Kingston 16gb DataTraveler se9 if it matters).
I was just using it yesterday and it was just fine. Did the drive just fail? Or could it be something with the Macbook?
It shows up on disk utility but verify and repair disk is greyed out. This is the first time I've had this problem in 15 months
of use. My Lacie external drive still works just fine and I tried out another se9 and it worked fine too..

Thanks, but my drive is accessible through disk utility, but when ever i attempt to verify it or repair it, disk utility just doesn't respond and i have to force quit.

  • How to share external USB drive connected to airport time capsule

I have a 4TB Seagate USB Hard Drive connected to my Airport Time Capsule.  The Time Capsule connected to a newer iMac running Maverick.
I use the Time Capsule for Time Machines Backups and as a Router, as it was designed for.
I want to use the external Seagate drive to share content with other devices (Mac, IOS, Windows) on my home network
Problem:  I cannot figure out how to SHARE the external Seagate drive so that any other devices can see it.
Steps tried:  Go to System Preferences, Sharing, and I am unable to add this Seagate drive to list of sharable objects.  It is grayed out.

the drive is formatted as AppleShare. Is that a potential problem?
No, that is the correct setting if you want to share out the drive.
Finally, when I run Disk Utility I don't see the Seagate drive (nor the Time Capsule) at all.
Remember that the Time Capsule is a network drive. Any other drive connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule is also a network drive.
Disk Utility cannot be used on a network drive.  It only works on a drive that is directly attached to a Mac.  If you need to partition the USB drive or something similar, you will need to connect it directly to your Mac for the operation.
Otherwise, everything looks correct in AirPort Utility.

  • How to backup external USB drive to Time Capsule

I have a USB drive I have connected to the Time Capsule which I use to store my itunes and iphoto libraries.
Is there a way to get this disk to be backed up using Time Machine to the Time Capsule?
I also have an Airport Express but I don't believe its supported to use that as a disk server so wondering how to get the disk backed up using Time Machine.
    Thanks

no. TM will not backup airdisks. see this http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964018#2.
ChronoSync, on the other hand, should be able to do that.

  • How can I access USB drive on AirPort Extreme with iPad

Good day. I recently purchased an AirPort Extreme, and am very pleased. I thought I would take advantage of the ability to store files and videos of my children on my USB drive on the router. Installation was flawless, however, i cannot access the USB drive with my IPad. I have seen several postings about this, am i correct in reading that this is not possible without a 3rd party app? If that is the case, could someone point me in the right direction?

Have you tried this? (And is the Airport new enough that you can call Apple?)
*Manually mounting Mac OS Extended (HFS+) volumes*
*From the Finder's Go menu choose Connect to Server.*
*Enter the AirPort Extreme Base Station's LAN IP address (by default 10.0.1.1).*
*Enter the username and password required to access the AirPort Disk(s).*
*Select the desired AirPort Disk(s) from the available Volumes.*
    *Manually mounting FAT16/FAT32 volumes*
*From the Finder's Go menu choose Connect to Server.*
*Enter the AirPort Extreme Base Station's LAN IP address preceded by smb:// (for example, smb://10.0.1.1 )*
*Enter the username and password required to access the AirPort Disk(s). Leave the Workgroup field empty unless you have assigned one in AirPort Utility.*
*Select the desired AirPort Disk from the available CIFS (Common Internet File System) volumes*

  • How to read external hard-drive from all users

    Hello everybody !
I have a Lacie Porshe Design external hard-drive for my Mac.
I have 2 user accounts which both are "admin".
Since yesterday, when I plug my external hard-drive, I cannot read the files on it unless I'm on the first "admin" account. I want to read the files from all the users account. There's a little red stop sign on the files and it tells me I have not the permission to view the files when I'm on the second user account.
Why does it work only with the first "admin" account and not the second one ? How to I disable this ?
It worked perfectly yesterday and I have no idea why.
Thank you very much guys !

I am sorry for the confusion.
The technician fresh-installed all the programs needed on a session they created called admin. On it there is all the programs but nothing else.
In case of trouble with the programs and licenses, the techicians asked for us to leave this ADMIN session untouched and to do our project and personnals things on our own new session.
    So I got
ADMIN - only the programs installed by the technicians, admin status enable first
PERSONNAL - all my personnal files and the programs installed by the techicians, admin status enable later
When I read my Lacie Hard-Drive from the PERSONNAL account, I do not have the permission to read my old Time Machine backup files from my previous mac even thought the PERSONNAL account got the admin status enable. But when I read the Hard-Drive from the ADMIN account, I can read those files.
    Hopefully this is clearer.
Thank you for your time !

  • How to create bootable USB drive for a PC on a Mac?

So in short I have a full PC build and a copy of Windows 7, but no optical drive to run the Windows 7 disk on, so I'm going to need to boot from a USB and the only means I have of creating a bootable USB is my Macbook running Yosemite.
So my question is how do I go about doing this? Please tell me it's as easy as selecting 'Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk' in Bootcamp

On a Mac create an ISO from the DVD and put it in a folder. Run BCA (Bootcamp Assistant) and use it to create a USB2 which will contain both the ISO and BC drivers. Uncheck the last "Install/Remove..." option, if you do not intend to install Windows on Mac.
Macs have no read-write NTFS drivers (Apple provides a read-only drivers), so the partition on Macs created by BCA is FAT, which is converted by the Windows installer to NTFS.
Please also see https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/#/bcmp173b3bf2 and http://imgur.com/a/DuGxr#0.
The USB2 has an AutoUnattend.xml which will silently install BC drivers, but these drivers are intended for Macs to support Mac-specific hardware.

How do I make it's locked status no?

Most flash drives have a slider that lets you change its locked state while it is not connected to anything.   The other thing to check, especially for any of 8 GB or more, is if it was formatted ExFat at the factory.  If it was, you'll need to upgrade to 10.6.4 or later or reformat it for the Mac alone to be able to use it.  ExFat is only supported on 10.6.4 or later.

  • How to read external hard drive photo's on iphoto

I have all our photo's (nearly 56GB's) stored on an external hard drive for fear that one day my iMac woudl crash.  Everytime we'd load a photo, it would load to the external hard drive, and the 'old iMac' iPhoto would read it from the hard drive.  That computer crashed.  We're now using my wife's MacBook Air, but that only has a 64GB flash drive, so loading the photo's onto that will not work. How do I set up my wife's MacBook Air to read the photo's on the external hard drive?
    I'm running OS 10.7.4

Have you got that disk backed up?
I have all our photo's (nearly 56GB's) stored on an external hard drive for fear that one day my iMac woudl crash.
Simply, that drive is far more likely to suffer damage than your Macs HD.
