WRT350N problem connecting to wireless after firware upgrade to 1.04.4

I have a WRT350N which has been in service for some time without any real trouble. I connect to it with a variety of laptops off and on and a ps3. Recently, my wife's laptop began disconnecting randomly and frequently. I repaired her windows after the usual tricks didn't help. After the repair, her problem was gone for a few weeks, then returned. It is a Dell Lattitude 110L and I suspect the wireless device in it is giving up. But I thought I would see if there were any firmware upgrades for my router, in case there was help for the situation that way. I was running 1.03.8 and 1.04.4 was available. So I downloaded and installed the upgrade.
My wired network continued to function just fine. But now none of my laptops or the ps3 could connect to the wireless. They saw the SSID being broadcast. They did key exchange. They requested a dhcp address, and then the connectionstopped being answered by the WRT350N. I tried many things. No joy. Decided to contact Cisco support via live chat. They had me change a number of settings for thresholds and channels and such with no effect. While doing this, I happened to notice that wireless QoS was disabled and the help says that by default it should be enabled. I have never changed this setting myself. In desperation, I put all the setting which Cisco had me mess with back to their defaults (where they were before Shaharyiar tried to help me) and I tried setting wireless QoS to enabled. Bingo. All my laptops and the ps3 now connect again. I suggested to the agent that they log this as a bug in the upgrade or the firmware. I got the impression that might not be followed up on, so I am posting my story here in the hopes it may prove helpful to others.

If you have other devices on your network that support Wireless QoS, select Enabled. Otherwise, keep the default, Disabled.
Thanks for the information. Your post will definitely help other users.

  • Can't connect to wireless after Tiger upgrade

I have a Titanium Powerbook. I was able to easily connect to a wireless network when I used OS 10.1 (just selected network, put in password and was immediately connected).
I upgraded recently to Tiger and it detects the network, I put in my password, and it will connect for a second. Internet connect will say "Connected to 2WIRE_, Getting status" and the airport symbol in the menu bar will be black. Then it immediately switches to "Not associated with any network. Status not available" and the airport symbol is grey. I know it is connected for a little bit, because the widgits can update, but it doesn't stay connected long enough to use the internet. Other people using this network are not having a problem. What's the deal? Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. The owner of the router assured me that another computer with Tiger has been able to connect to it just fine before, so this doesn't appear to be the problem.
I also was having problems with my computer not recognizing that there were CDs in it. So I restarted in OS 9, then reinstalled OS 10.4. This solved the CD problem, but not the connection problem. Sometimes it gives all the numbers in DHCP, so I wrote them all down and then entered them in manually. Now it says my computer is connected to the network, but I still can't get online. I realize I should check the router still, but I doubt that's the problem, since other people in the house can connect.
I'll try trashing the preferences file tonight, like you said.

  • IMac losing connecting for wireless after restart

    Hi,
As subject suggests, i'm having a problem with the wireless after a restart. It's the new 2.4 24" imac.
I have had the same problem on 3 other imacs but cant remember how to solve it......
Something about deleting old connections and added it manually... anyway could someone point me to the link that apple published regarding this issue please?
    Thanks
    Darren

I have been having a similar issue with my early-2007 iMac 24. It often will not reconnect after having been asleep. Sometimes I can turn off and back on my wireless settings and it may reconnect. Sometimes I can reboot and it may reconnect. There are times like today, that I tried both several times and even the suggestions in the article you posted (even though I didn't know about the article). I finally got it reconnected this time by allowing my router to broadcast its SSID. I use two different routers since the Airport doesn't have much for me to control what Websites my children have access to, so I will try to experiment with both to see if the iMac will more reliably detect the one that broadcasts its SSID. I started on this line of thinking, because my iMac also gives me a list of other available networks of neighbors when it will not connect to my own routers even though I can connect to the routers with other computers using the same wireless settings.

HTF do i get my iPhone to connect to network after iOS7 upgrade?  Upgrade?  Really?   I'm just really upset that I have to continually make concessions to someone else and my product does NOT work the way it should, and has done in the past!!!!

Depends on your browser and it may appear in your downloads folder to run.  If you are using IE, it will appear on the bottom of the screen, Google Chrome, bottom of the screen, Firefox, top of the screen with an big arrow

  • Problem connecting to carrier after upgrading to 5.01

After upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.01 I have problems connecting to my carrier.  It may take several hours before the connection is made.  I normally never turn off my phone except when traveling on airplanes and that is exactly when the problem occurs.  After landing I turn on my phone, type in my pin code, and then receive immediately receive "No service".  I try toggling Airplane mode and see a search attempt which ends in "No service".  I try resetting the network and rebooting - does not help.  Low and behold an hour maybe two, maybe three  hours later the carrier connection is made.  Stays connected without any problem until the next time I take a plane.
Any ideas,  I have not try contacting my carrier because I do not think they are the problem

    IMHO you must be wrong.
Or how do explain the following facts:
1.The same application on the same PC can connect to the database when it's started under JRE 1.4.2.
2.The same application on other PCs in the same network have no problem to connect to the database under JRE 1.5.0_01.

  • HT4199 Has anyone else had issues connecting to wireless after upgrading to IOS 6?

I Upgraded to IOS 6 today on my iPhone and iPad and am now unable to connect to wireless. It keeps goin to a "page not found" on apple.com when I Gould either put a password in or be directed to the Internet. Help!?!?  My laptop works on my router so I know that's fine-especially since the ONLY change I made was the upgrade...

Just got it working, Forget the Wireless and then re-add it...worked perfectly for me.

  • E71 wlan issue after firware upgrade

I just upgraded by E71 to the latest software version. The upgrade went without any issues. After the upgrade I realised that t had removed all my contacts - so I had to restore my backup(I restored the SETTINGS as well). I was using a app for my 'WiFi' (for prioritizing my access points) and after the firmware upgrade - I could not see this app at all. The following are my issues now:
    1. I cannot connect to my home wifi(WEP) - it was fine before the upgrade. The first time it says - 'Connection not available' and every subsequent time it irritates by showing 'WLAN already active. Please close the connection and retry'.
    2. I have tried to restore the factory settings and it still does not work.
    3. I have renamed my Access point to the ones that the app was using - still no luck.
So, what are my options now? Can somebody please help? I never thought a small software upgrade could spoil my whole evening!

    Hello,
I have just had EXACTLY the same problem.
I have a Nokia E71 and it was working OK before the upgrade. I just used the latest Nokia Updater and latest nokia pc suite to upgrade to 500.21.009.
The upgrade performed perfectly, and after the upgrade I restored my backed up data.
I have the exact symtpoms as psankar. I have factory reset the phone and tried again. Same problem.
Connection not available, and then connection already active. Small Wireless icon appears at top right of screen, and stays there, but there is no active connection in connection manager.
The only way to remove the wifi icon and to get the phone to attempt to reconnect is to power off the phone, but then on reconnectig then you get connection not available and then the whole cycle begins again.
    Help appreciated
    TIA
    Alex

  • Problems connecting to internet after installing Leopard

I have been having problems connecting to the internet after installing Leopard. I have a G5 at my office and use safari and AOL, using a cable modem and router. Everything worked perfect until I installed Leopard. About 3 days after installing Leopard on my G5 I started having problems connecting to the internet. When opening "network" in preferences it tells me I am connected, but I cannot connect. So I have to restart my computer every time in order to connect. Then to top it off, often in the middle of the day I am able to get and send e-mail with AOL, but my Safari does not connect. And even more bizare, if I am connected and sign off my AOL, I lose Safari as well. Brought the G5 into the Mac store and after trying some stuff they told me "it should work now" but ....same problems. So last Monday, I installed Leopard on my Macbookpro which I use at home wirelessly, everything worked well until yesterday when the same issue with my G5 is happening with the macbookpro. No connection, it tells me I am connected, signal is strong, but nothing.....so restart and keep going. What is going on? Anyone else having same problem? Any solutions
    Roberto

    Roberto,
Is the install of Leopard on the G5 and MacBook Pro an upgrade install or a clean install?
Try some simple maintenance to see if this resolves it:
    1. Run Repair Disk Permissions (Disk Utility)
    2. Go to Network Utility and go to Ping enter in www.cnn.com and see if the packets are received/sent. This is just to see if you can get to the outside so to speak
    3. See if your cable modem manfacturer has a leopard upgrade. Sometimes hardware companies need to upgrade their firmware when new Operating systems come out

  • RE1000 Will Not Connect to WLAN after firmware upgrade

I upgraded the firmware on my RE1000 to v1.0.02 a few days ago; now, the RE1000 will not connect to my WLAN.  The automatic CD program is useless; it won't see my WLAN.  Manual configuration goes slightly better, but still no luck.  If I try to connect via Wireless --> Site Survey, it sees the SSID (and a few others in range) and says it's connecting, but when I go to Status --> WLAN Statistics the status of the link is shown as down (router also confirms no DHCP lease given out).  When I try to configure the connection manually via Wireless --> Basic Wireless Settings, same results -- link down.
I've tried configuring a static IP (vice DHCP) but no change in result.  One odd thing I've noticed is that in the WLAN Statistics page, "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" is still showing as "On" despite it being set to off.  Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but either way this is getting wretchedly annoying...

I am trying to set up a LInksys RE-1000 for a user who has a working Linksys WRT-54G wireless router which is working perfectly fine both wirelessly and wired. This RE-1000 product was purchased after checking the RE-1000 owner's manual PDF download which confirms it is supposed to work with Wireless-N, G and B though with slower speeds with G and B.
However, the RE-1000 does not connect to the WRT-54G at all using manual configuration with a network cable connected to the RE-1000. After entering all the correct parameters under the WIRELESS - BASIC WIRELESS SETTINGS page that matches the WRT-54G wireless security settings fully, the RE-1000's STATUS - WLAN STATISTICS page simply continues to show that the RE-1000 is "CONNECTING..." but never goes to CONNECTED status. Checking the RE-1000's STATUS - DEVICE INFO page shows that IP address, subnet mask and default gateway are all 0.0.0.0, which seems to confirm there is no successful connection between the RE-1000 and the WRT-54G via wireless-G band.
The firmware on the RE-1000 is already 1.0.02 from factory. Calling Linksys phone support was useless because the phone agent in the Philippines simply gave pre-scripted generic suggestions such as upgrading the firmware on the RE-1000 and the WRT-54G, when the WRT-54G's firmware was already updated to the latest available version.
Can anyone from confirm whether the RE-1000 is capable of connecting to the WRT-54G wirelessly? Or does the RE-1000 require specific wireless routers to connect successfully with? I did not notice that the product / system requirements stated anything about this.
My experience so far with the RE-1000 wireless extender product has been unsatisfactory so far and I am an advanced user with the Linksys router.

  • [SOLVED]Problem with logging in after system upgrade

    Hi,
I'm encountering some problem after rebooting my machine just after last upgrade. Few minutes ago I was sure I found the source of the problem when system hang on "Reached target Graphical Interface" message. Reason - nvidia drivers had to be replaced with legacy version (https://www.archlinux.org/news/nvidia-340xx-and-nvidia/). But it didn't help. Also it made things a little bit worse. Because now my system uses nvidia-340xx and it seems drivers are fine but when login screen of lightdm should appear screens stay blank... and nothing happens. I simply can't do anything.
What I noticed is also xfce4-session was upgraded (4.10.1.3->4.10.1-5) and maybe this is the separate problem? but I can't downgrade this package as some time ago I removed all contents of /var/cache/pacman/pkg.
What I have is arch on pendrive so I can chroot into existing system.
    Any ideas?

I found something similar to line
    (EE) Mar 07 14:05:07 NVIDIA(0): WAIT: (E, 0, 0x837d, 0)
these values are not exact as I'm too tired now to rewrite the real ones from screen
maybe I should install some older nvidia drivers (these 340xx are broken somehow I think). Unfortunately I don't have my /pkg content anymore.
Where can I download packages like nvidia-340.32-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz from? (according to pacman.log I had this version back in July and it was working fine I think).
I could also start X with Nouveau drivers but not xfce (anyway I would like to install old nvidia drivers back)

  • Problem in Predefined Properties after SP14 upgrade

    Hi,
we are facing one Problem after the SP14 upgrade in the Development environment. The Problem is as follows:
Actually we have defined some Predefined metadata Properties which give us option of country and Locality while uploading any Document. The Property of  Country and Locality are Interlinked and whenever user check the country checkbox (Like China) the interdependent Locality List appears (like Shanghai). But after SP14 upgrade whenever we are clicking the country checkbox the Loclity checkboxes are not appearing.(Even though some processing happens).I have checked all the configuration under  System admin >Global services> Property Metada -->Group and Properties.Property Structures -->Property Groups etc and match them with all the properties of that in the Production environment. But we don't find any property missing like Dependencies etc.
Is there anything else we need to check?Anybody of you have faced the same Problem earlier?
    Please Help It is urgent
    Regards
    Imran

    Dear Imran,
we dint migrate the properties to the new server.
we have created those properties again in our new server.
I am using those properties for two purposes
1.to refine the search ,adding them in the search option set.
here i am able to see the all  properties and there dependedncy .
    its working fine.
    2. while uploading the documnets.
I created a metadata group mapped those properties to all groups.
all process as we have done in our old server.
here i am able to view all the properties except 1.
    for ex country and city
I am able to see the property country ,
but the property city is not visible only .
where as i can see both the properties in search and working as desired .
If the problem is with patch, then it should either not work in the search also.
can u please suggest me on this .
    Thanks in advance

    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked

    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading "Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly."
    3. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    4. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    5. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    6. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    7. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    8. Reset the System Management Controller.
    9. Reset the PRAM.
    10. Reinstall OS X.
Updating to 10.9.2 did the trick. So I thought. Does anyone have a solution?

  • Problems with loading mailbox after GW8 upgrade

I just recently upgraded to Groupwise 8 in a school district. I support many school districts and this is the first time I've had this problem. Users are complaining that from outside the network(home access) that when they log in to web acc, the mailbox will just hang at "Loading...."
The toolbars, menus, and folder list all display properly, but it hangs trying to load the message list for the mailbox. It works fine when on the internal LAN, only happens from home. And the problem is not constant - sometimes it will work, sometimes it will not. I've had users complain about the issue from the entire spectrum of web browsers, from IE 6,7,8 to Safari and Firefox. I've had users clear cache/temp internet files and still have the problem.
I do see a java error on the logger screen, I'm not sure if its related:

  • Problems with VMWare Fusion after MacOS Upgrade

Prior to upgrading yesteday I was able to use "open with" to select programs that were installed in either my Win 7 or XP VM on VMFusion.  After the upgrade no longer set any of the Win apps. This is a real pain a now i have to open Fusion, Win 7 and use the Office 2010 app to open the file.
