WRT400N and Bravia internet TV

My old router was connected to my internet video link Sony Bravia and everything worked well. Recently changed to WRT400N and I can't get the channels, the connection is established but apparently it is blocked (firewall?). I tried to change the router configuration in its webpage, when to firewall and unclicked don't allow anonimous internet requests (something like that) but didn't work.
Anyone could help?
Many Thanks!

Hey Quack, many thanks for your attention to this, I really appreciate it.
My internet device is wired to the router.
Yesterday I entered in a chat session with Cisco support, and got exactly the same advice you provided below (with the exception of the wireless part), I tried it and unfortunately didn't work.
She also said that if this does not work I could request the ports from Sony support, so they could be opened using port forwarding and a static IP address.
I am planning to call Sony tomorrow and try, however I have the feeling that this problem is more related to the firewall in my desktop (Windows Firewall for Windows XP).
In "my network connections" I identified the connection with the router and others and is firewalled, tried to include in the exceptions what is coming to/from the TV but don't know how to do it. What I did was create a log file with the dropped packets and noticed that there are several of these dropped packets between my desktop and the tv internet device (identified by their IP addresses). So wondering if this is the problem and if I could make these traffic be opened from/to the internet to the tv device passing through the desktop.
thanks,
German

I have a 2008 black MacBook and acess UK tv through a puchased proxy. I want to purchase a Sony Bravia internet connected tv and stream the site through a tv - Sony tell me this won't work - that a latest model tv cannot capture content and sites from a MacBook - is this true???? Surely there is a solution? Any help or advice welcome.

They are correct.  The only stream you can wireless connect the TV to a Mac is through an AppleTV, and that's purchased content on iTunes, and your own homemade content that is H.264 MPEG-4 that is 1800kbps.   Conversion of commercial video to that format is illegal, and hence how can not be stated on the forum.    Alternatively, as long as the TV is HDMI, you can wired connect it to your MacBook using the same advice here:

Sony Bravia KDL-22EX320 -  Bravia Internet TV services (in particular BBC iPlayer) have successfully worked via several ADSL routers, the last of which was a Netgear DGN2200. Last week I replaced the router with a BT Home Hub 3 and can now no longer watch BBC iPlayer. All other internet services work and I have no problem watching iPlayer on other devices (PCs, iPad, smatphones, Sky, LG TV etc) connected to the hub. On the Bravia I now get the following message:
"The page display failed. Please check the following items:
    - Is URL correct?
    - Is network settings correct?
    - Is LAN cable connected?
In certain network situations, it may not be displayed even under correct setup."
The fault occurs regardless of cable or wireless network connection and interestingly the BBC News app works fine!
    Any ideas?
I am not sure what to suggest but can confirm the iPlayer works very well on my Sony Bravia W6 with HH3.

  • WRT400n and PS3 wireless issue

I have recently purchased a WRT400n and want to hook up my PS3.  I would not consider myself technologically inclines, but can figure things out, and I am at a loss.  Both computers in house (wireless laptops) work great.  The PS3 on the previous router, worked great.  When i set up the PS3, i am getting slow connection speeds, and cannot get full gaming experience if I am online for an extended period of time.  Cant hear me, lags, etc.... occur and I get an error on the PS3 of "Failed connection speed test".  Any thoughts as to how I can fix this situation would be great!!  Thanks for your help.

  • Oracle Single Sign on and Oracle Internet Directory

    Hello Gurus,
What is the relationship between Oracle Single Sign on and Oracle Internet Directory.
To my understanding, OID is required to install SSO.
If OID already exist, can we just install SSO and go on integrating it to existing OID.
    Great Thanks,

    Hi Tim,
I've been working on this and could reproduce the issue with anonymous binds. A fix will be ready in 4.2.1.
So what I really need is the password used for login to pass to the is_member call. The P101_PASSWORD item does not save state. However, you can access the value during submit processing of the login page, for example in the post authentication function of your authentication scheme. People sometimes put code in there to query the user's groups (e.g. with apex_ldap.member_of2) and save them in an application. This item value can then be used in the authorization schemes.

Please check SMTP traffic filtering/scanning enabled on the router/firewall. You can telnet even if the SMTP
traffic filtering/scanning enabled on the router/firewall. But emails will not pass through if the configuration is incorrect.
May be speed between sites causing this issue (not sure). Anyway please try changing the Tarpitinterval as a test.
To see the current setting "Get-ReceiveConnector | Select name, tarpitinterval "To set new value "Set-ReceiveConnector “<Connector-Name>”

Try restarting "MSexchange-Transport-sevice" on both servers as well
Can you send email one-way or

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
However, since it works with other networks that really suggests a problem with your network.

  • Adobe reader won't open and closes internet when trying to open a pdf

I'm not sure when it started, but for the last 2 weeks every time I try to open a pdf file on the internet it stops and says "internet Explorer has stopped working" and will then close the window.  I thought it was just a cable (internet connection) problem since we had been having issues in that area, but now that's fixed and I still cannot open a pdf on the internet.  I uninstallled and restarted and re-installled Adobe Reader and I can't even open Adobe Reader much less a pdf from the internet.  Please help!  I've also tried installing Safari and it has the same results.  I'm sure it has to do with my Reader, but I just don't know how to fix it.

I finally uninstalled Adobe Reader and found a free pdf reader program.  At least now I can save the file I want to look at and can
open it with the other program.  Thanks for all your suggestions and help.  I learned a lot of new things.  Sorry Adobe... your loss

  • I recently attempted to re-install Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro late 2012 model and the internet recovery is failing.

I recently attempted to re-install Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro late 2012 model and the internet recovery is failing. I have absolutely no clue what to do here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    - Currently if I boot it up there is a flashing folder icon with a question mark in it. I am assuming this means there is no OS because I wiped the SSD and tried to reinstall Mountain Lion
    - When I hold Command+R, it prompts me to Choose Network... the problem with this is the wifi constantly is disconnecting. The Retina 2012 does not have an ethernet port so i have considered buying the attachment then returning when done.
Once again Thank you in advance.
    Best.

There is nothing to do if you don't have a reliable Internet connection unless you have a copy of the Mountain Lion installer application from when you first installed it.
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

I need to know how to delete the most recent version of Firefox. I JUST downloaded it tonight and my computer doesn't have that little edit bar to work with so I can download the proper Adobe player and my internet has been screwed up ever since I downloaded the new version of Firefox. I just want the old version of it back since I apparently can't download the Adobe stuff that is necessary to keep my computer safe from Hackers. It sure would have been nice to know there was an issue with the new Firefox Update BEFORE I uploaded it. I have Vista which is usually an issue with both Adobe and Firefox. I don't seem to be able to run much of Adobe at all on my computer because of the Vista.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I have also noticed all my settings won't stay set, example....I removed the check mark from "third party cookies", the when I close Firefox and reopen the check mark is back, also my tool bar has screwed up....can't reset, been having trouble the up grade.

  • Up and Down Internet Connection

Recently my MacBook is having up and down internet connection. I'm using the new Aiport Extreme base station which is connected to my cable modem. By up and down I mean, the connection seems to go in and out.
My Airport signal status is full bars, so it seems to see the base station. It is like the radio signal or whatever gets tangled and drops connection. I have completely reset the base station and started fresh. I've unplugged the modem and base station and gone through all the basic troubleshooting steps.
My wife has a PowerBook G4 and she can surf with no hiccups, while my machine stalls. One thing I have done to keep a solid connection is to connect iTunes to an internet radio station. It seems like the stream keeps the connection without dropping?
Any ideas on what is going on? Is my internal airport card bad or are is there something else going wrong? Any help or insight is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Try…
    1) Resetting PRAM…
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    2) Setting your Airport to connect to "Preferred networks" rather than Automatic (done in System Preferences > Network > Airport > Airport)
    3) Make sure your home network is at the top of your Preferred networks list
    4) Failing those delete your wireless network profile, apply the change and readd your profile

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • Self-Assigned IP error and no Internet thru cable, but fine via Airport crd

I am having a vert weird problem. Airport base station hooked to a LAN router, new Mac Pro (10.5.1) hooked via cable to Airport base station. I get the self-assigned IP address and no internet. This happens also if I hook Mac Pro directly to router via cable. Oddly enough, during all of this, my iBook connects fine to the Internet, thru the base station using its Airport card. What gives, I may throw in the towel and go out and by an Airport card for my Mac Pro to get Internet connectivity, even though it sits only 6 inches from the base station. Also not, my Power Mac G4 was hooked via cable to the Airport and worked just fine...
If someone discovers a fix, please feel free to email.
    Thanks,
    Bob A.

Funny you should mention that. This weekend I noticed that I can get an IP address and internet connection, either via the Ethernet cable from my AEBS or wirelessly from the AEBS on my laptop, but only one at a time and it depends which computer (iBook or Mac Pro) is on when the AEBS is toggled on/off. The only exception is my iPod touch, which can get an internet connection no matter which is the Internet connected machine(how's that for bizzare ?).
So, it appears the Linksys router that is hooked to our building's LAN is not distributing IP addresses (disconnecting the router and connecting the AEBS directly to the LAN produces the identical single IP address situation). Since using my Mac Pro with Leopard, I can only set up the AEBS in bridge mode, putting it in the DHCP mode causes the AEBS to be undetecable by the Mac Pro (haven't checked if the iBook sees it).
So I guess the questions are now:
    - Shouldn't my router be assigning IP addresses from the LAN, isn't that it's job? Should I try buying a new one since I can't get AEBS to DHCP?
    - Why would my iPod touch me immune from the single IP address situation?
    - Any idea how to get Leopard to allow my AEBS to use DHCP?
Now I say I can't use DHCP, I mean that if I reset the AEBS, start from scratch and use assisted setup with Airport Admin Utility, and select DHCP at the place where you select Bridge or DHCP mode (or whatever the DHCP mode is called, I forget)the AEBS disappears. If I set bridge mode and then dicker around with DHCP manually, it doesn't disappear, but then it just won't give an IP address to any computer til re-rest and put back in old plain Bridge mode.
I would prefer to run the LAN right into AEBS and have it act as router and all that. I would also be fine with having a router and letting AEBS just bridge, just as long as I can connect to the Internet on more than one computer at a time.
I think I have a basic knowledge of what's going on, although my use of proper terminology is lacking, so feel free to follow up with any questions, I'd be happy to clarify.
This Leopard Mac Pro replaced a PowerMac G4 with Tiger and this all worked fine with it. When I traded computers and didn't get Internet I reset and re-setup the base station, so this might all be a Leopard problem
Of course, it brings me back to shouldn't the router hooked to my building's LAN be distributing IP addresses?
Thank you in advance for your help on this isssue.
    Bob A.

I installed iTunes on my Dell PC running Windows 7 and now Internet Explorer crashes and won't run. Are there any known conflicts, or likely issues that may be causing this?
I've rebooted, and the iTunes program seems to operate fine. I used it to upgrade my iPad's OS to 8.1.3.

They aren't related and shouldn't affect each other.
