WRT400n Not Port Forwarding Even With Correct Settings

As the title of this post says I have the port forwarding settings correctly set for FTP (and other ports) but no luck. I'm not dumb, I know computers and routers. Even after hard reset, firmware upgrade and setup, still not working. Confirming with third party port scanner that ports not open even though they are setup, enabled and DMZ a few tries. Not firewall issue, worked fine with my previous tomato router setup. I should have never upgraded. Any suggestions other than buying a new router AGAIN?

I would suggest you to upgrade/reflash the router's firmware and re-configure the router.
You can download the firmware from linksys website. On the router setup page,Click on the Administration tab to upgrade the firmware. After upgrading the firmware...Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Port Forwarding Issues with WVC210

    Hi,
I have just purchased a WVC210 and had managed to setup the IP Camera to view internally through either Wired or Wireless at the IP address of 192.168.1.152:1024.
However, I am not able to set up the IP Camera for remote web viewing. My last attempt stopped at the point where I can remotely access my router admin login when typing the dyndns domain name I had created (e.g.  myhomexxx.dyndns.biz).
The road  to  Cameera seems so near yet so far... Can someone help me out to see is my port forwarding is done correctly. I had tried on two different models of modem/routers and both don't seem to work and the vendor support blame it on compatbility issues and ask me to check with linksys:
This is what displayed on a Shiro modem/rounter :
    Application :  WebCamera (user defined)
    Protocol : TCP,UDP
    Source IP/Mask:   192.168.1.152 / 255.255.255.0
    Destination IP/Mask:  192.168.1.152 / 255.255.255.255
    Port Start / Port End:   1024 / 1024
    Port Map: 80
Can someone help/tell me if I doing the right port forwarding values....  my modem/router IP is 192.168.1.1
    thanks,
    Crispin

I saw an article that details how to remotely access the camera. Try to follow this link:

  • Help!  Just did the Update (ML 10.8.4) after receiving a new HD since mine crashed last week, and now my Mac won't let me past the log in screen even with correct password.

Help!  Just did the Update (ML 10.8.4) after receiving a new HD since mine crashed last week and the shop didn't update it back to Mavricks which I had previously done...and now my Mac won't let me past the log in screen even with correct password entered. It just spins like I'm logging in and then goes back to the user log in screen.  I did the process where I restarted and pressed control S and created a new user and password, but once created same issue and can't get passed that screen.
Super frustrated and any help is appreciated!

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.

    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the Browsing History.
    * Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
    * Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
    * To see History and Cookie settings in Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"

  • Port Forwarding Issues with Westell a 7500

I'm having troubles getting port forwarding to work on my Westell 7500 router.  I have used the instructions provided at http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Networking/Troubleshooting/PortForwarding/123866....
Having set up my own port forward I had my aplication test the port and I was told it was closed.  Then I went to a third party web based port testing site (http://www.canyouseeme.org/) to confirm that the port was indeed closed and not just a problem with my aplication.  The site told me that the port was closed.
So I decided to try one of the pre-created port forwards included with the modem.  Using the port number provided I changed the port my aplication used and it still self-tested as closed.  I then went back to canyouseeme and it too told me that the port was closed.
    I should also note that in the "Port Forwarding" screen on the router the delete icon (I'm assuming that is what it is - the icon has a red X through it) does not respond to being clicked on.  When I hover the mouse over the icon I get the following text overlay in the bottom left corner of the Chrome browser window - javascript:deleteEntryStart(5,document.TableMgr,0);
To sum up, neither a personal nor a pre-fab port forward show in tests to be working and a function also appears to be not working.
Here's the rub - I am told by tech support that this is an L3 issue.  L3 issues are not covered under regular tech support and are very expensive buy.  My gut feeling is that the router is defective, but I need some way to confirm this before I start making a stink with customer service.  I don't want to spend $39.00 to be told my router is broken before I can send it in and I have a feeling that customer service is going to want to have solid evidence that the problem is not pilot error before ponying up for a replacement modem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for testing the router more thouroughly?  Is this a known issue?  Or does anyone have any suggestions about programming the port forward?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to address this!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If I am not mistaken, the firewall in the router must be at least low.
Otherwise, it will ignore all rules  (or something along that line).

Help! Can't access iCloud (pics apps) even with correct password. Won't download my stored info on my new phone

That happens because photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, even though your last 1000 photo stream photos remain on your devices until deleted.  When you enabled photo stream on your iPod 4, you only received photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.  If you want to stream these older photos to your new iPod, you will have to create a shared photo stream on your old one that contains these photos (requires iOS 6 or higher) and invite yourself as a subscriber, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmc0cd7e99.

  • Premiere not exporting with correct settings.

So I make videos for youtube and up untill yesturday I used the youtube 720p preset changed to 30fps to match my footage and everything else left standard. Normally videos around 17minutes come out at 700-800mb
However for some reason when i export with these same settings, estimated video still in the 700-800 range. What adobe is actually exporting is a 57mb file, I did this multiple times and recieved the same result and even upped the bit rate from 5mbs to 17.5mbs  which changed the estimated size to 2.3gb and once exported i received yet another 57mb file.
the final video is extremely low quality similar to that of the original camera phones, my original footage is hd.
The only way around it i found was to use the check box export with sequence settings.

Hopefully this works below are 2 screen shots to get the full video settings shown.

  • Time Capsule Does Not Port Forward FTP Ports

    Hey there,
I recently purchased a Time Capsule, and I found out that while it fixes the NAT-PMP bug found in my previous AirPort Extreme Base Station (Gigabit-N), it introduces a new problem which makes it refuse to forward port 21 properly.
It seems to me that the Time Capsule has some sort of FTP server built in, and is either enabled but closes connection on client connection, or disabled but still listens for client connection.
This message is what I get when I connect to my IP via FTP from the WAN side (FTP port forwarded to a local machine with an IP 10.0.0.8):
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection.
When it is accessed from the LAN of course, I can connect to 10.0.0.8 with no problem. However, what is interesting is if I connect to the Time Capsule via FTP I get this as well:
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection.
Thus, I am 100% certain that the FTP message I see when I connect from WAN is from the Time Capsule instead of the machine I port forwarded to.
Apple needs to fix this annoying problem and at the same time fixes some VPN issues I'm having with my Nortel VPN client (4.68). It was all working when I had the AirPort Extreme Base Station.

I am having a problem establishing an FTP session that is started with my FTP Client (CuteFTP) on my local network and attempting to connect to an FTP Server with one of my hosting providers. My first few attempts used FTPS (Secure FTP) as that is what I typically use when transferring FTP packets over the net. Well, this didn't work so I thought maybe the Time Capsule had a problem inspecting the encrypted packets so I switched to standard clear-text FTP just to see if the Time Capsule handles FTP session management functions correctly. This didn't work either. I'm using PASV FTP and have never had a problem before with my CISCO Router or with another consumer-based NAT router. I don't believe that the Server on the Internet gets the initial request on port 21 as I believe the Time Capsule is not allowing the packet to pass and my FTP Client spits back an error message : "Couldn't access FTP service " "Connection Failed". I have also used "Terminal" and initiated the ftp utility and attempted to connect to the same server and receive the following error message : "421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection.". I have attempted to put my computer in the DMZ by using the Default Host feature on the Time Capsule but that resulted in the same errors. I believe that I have tried most of the settings available on the Time Capsule to attempt to get this to work but no luck yet. If the packet is getting through to the server and the response back on the current ephemeral port is not getting through the Time Capsule I'm really hoping the solution is not having to port map all ephemeral ports as this is in the tens of thousands. Has anyone successfully established an FTP Session (Secure or Not) from your local client through the Time Capsule to a Server on the Internet. If so, could you help by providing any Time Capsule settings that were required for this to function properly....Thanks in Advance.
Note: I have attempted to ftp to several different public ftp servers on the Internet and get the same error results. I have no problems ftping to local serverson my local network.

  • Can not port forward on WRT54GS v6 "You cannot use the router IP"

Hello, I'm trying to open a port number, but when I try to use my router's IP, the following message appears
"You cannot use the router IP, network, or broadband address"
    [IMG]http://i45.tinypic.com/107qond.jpg[/IMG]
My ADSL was working as a NAT behind a NAT connection, so I had to change my Local IP Address to 192.168.2.1.
    Router: WRT54GS v6 firmware 1.52.8 (latest)  -  Bellsouth router: Westell 6100
    Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
       Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : launchmodem.com
       Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::40a9:a76e:61b3:6435%11
       IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.100
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
So, please help me, how can I open ports on my router? =[
PS: I tried to use 192.168.2.100, and even though it lets me use it, it still seems not to open that port... my IP is dynamic.

Generally: NAT behind NAT is a bad idea. There is usually no need for double NAT. Either configure the ADSL router as bridge and use the WRT for your internet connection or set up the WRT as simple access point behind the ADSL router.
It's also unclear to me what is working or not. First I thought you can't set up forwarding at all because you get that error message. Then, in your PS you write you tried to use 192.168.2.100 and that seemed to be possible. The IP address to forward to must be the IP address of the computer to which you want to forward. Thus 192.168.2.100 is exactly the IP address you have to set up. Does this work or not?
Also remember: with double NAT you must set up two forwardings: first on the ADSL router then on the WRT. Port forwarding is necessary to allow incoming traffic through NAT. All incoming traffic arrives on the ADSL router. Thus setting up port forwarding on the WRT only won't do a thing.
It's also not recommend to use dynamic IPs for forwarding destinations. Dynamic IP addresses may change over time and that requires you to adjust forwardings accordingly. It's better to reserve fixed IP addresses (if your WRT supports this) or set a static IP address on the computer outside the DHCP address pool.

  • RVS4000 not Port forwarding

I have  a new RVS4000 router, which is hosing a seagate GoFlec Home drive.
Origianally my WRT54G router worked fine.
I cannot get the UPnP to work.
    I have UPnP enabled.
I have my goFlex Home to automatically configure router for portforwarding, ports 21, 22,80, and 443, and 50000 and 50001.
So, nothing. I cannot connect to my drives http://my.intricatephotography.com
Leaving UPnP enabled, I manually portforward my ports to 192.168.1.121 ( the LAN ip of the GoFlex Hardrive.)
    Now all works well.
I'm noting too, that the HipServ site says that ports are forwarded correctly, but it cannot configure the router for UPnP correctly.
    Any suggestions?
My port forwarding seem to be a up-and down situation. My customers are geting angry.

    Hi Darrin,
Intriguing post, I just had to comment, as the application looks interesting.
I have absolutely no idea how seagate goFlex @ home setup software  loaded on a PC or MAC  can automatically  via uPnP enable port forwarding specific ports and destination IP on a RVS4000 router.
But, you manually port forwarded  and "Now all works well" as you said in your posting.
Once a port if forwarded, it should not be up or down. I can't imagine port forwarding not working well on the RVS4000
But, please check the seagate knowlwdgwbase and Axenta forum to see if others are having trouble with uPnP
The problem originates from a feature that hasn't been validated on a cisco router, there must be better documentation on how to get uPnP workign with the goFlex application.
Also why not place a warranty call with the Disti partner you purchased the freeagent goFlex @ home.
Also I welcome input from  anyone within the community who  has seen this issue with goFlex@home application.
    regards Dave

  • Port Forward: Conflicts with all of them.

A bit about me: I am an IT professional 20+ years so I know how to port forward
    Situation:
I had a Actiontec Gen1 router. A technician came out the other day and tried to resolve an upload speed issue. As a result, he replaced the ONT and the Router to a Gen2. He got it all up and running and left. My issue started 20 minutes after he left -- when I sat down to reestablish my port forwards.
When I tryed creating my first port forward, I got a warning message about a conflict. I looked at the list and all I had were 3 preset entries:
    --Localhost                               TCP Any -> 4567
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> Any
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> 1
Now, I have done port forwards a lot with my previous router so I was a bit taken back. I did a factory restore on the router and tried to create another port forward - still conflicts.
I knew something was up so I called Verizon. A tech didn't get anywhere so they put me on the phone with Actiontec. They had me try to create a port forward and got the same results. They said the router was corrupt and to have Verizon send me another.
I got the new router in today. While the tech was setting it up in the basement, I quickly tried to create a port forward on it and it worked. I was excited and waited for him to connected it to the WAN. Once he did his thing and established outside connectivity, I tried to create another port forward, and it failed. I asked him to give me back my original Gen1 router so I could use it to troubleshoot. He did with the rule that I call him when I was done.
I got Verizon back on the line and they couldn't help. They then got me on the phone with Actiontec. A couple hours later, they still had no answer. One thing we found though was that they were also not able to connect remotely. They tried 443 and 8080 - nothing worked. I also found that I was able to create UDP port forwards - they worked fine but as soon as I tried any TCP ports, the always came back with a conflict.
Actiontec said the issue was with Verizon and that I should work with them again, so I called Verizon.
I got a great tech who was really going the extra mile instead of giving me the infamous "We don't support that". He too couldn't access the router remotely and we tried just about anything under the sun. For giggles, we decided to put my old Gen1 router back in place. He wanted to reset it to factory defaults so we did. I took a screen capture of my original port forwards though first. When we restored it, it was also stating that there is a conflict when I created a new port forward.
I took a look at my screen capture of my original Gen1 router (this is the one that was originally working over the last year) and I noticed that its 192.168.1.100 entry was set to go to Application - UDP any -> 63146. After resetting it to factory default, Verizon is now setting it to the two setting I documented above.
So now I am questioning Verizons settings that they are pushing down to the router.
My next step was to disconnect it from the WAN completely, do a factory reset and see if I can create a port forward. After doing that test, I was able to create port forwards - TCP, UDP -- they all entered without a conflict. As soon as I connected the router to the WAN and Verizon pushed their settings, it broke again.
The technician did all he could. It is Sunday today and the higher tier techs do not work on Sundays so he said he will have them contact me tomorrow. I sure hope they can resolve this!
    So this is the deal:
-Go into your router and try to create a port forward. Pick anyone from the list that includes a TCP port. If you get a message stating there is a conflict, you are most likely in the same boat as I. I would bet anything that Verzion cannot access your router remotely too.
-If you ARE able to create tcp port forwards, then I would highly suggest that you do not do a factory reset. When doing so, I would bet anything that you will no longer be able to create those forwards.
-if you are able to port forward fine, do me a favor and tell me what your 192.168.1.100 port forwards are that Verizon throws in there. If I were to bet, I would bet that the ones that work are set for Application - UDP any -> 63146; If they don't work, I would bet that they are set to:
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> Any
    --192.168.1.100:63145          Application - TCP Any -> 1
Anyway, that is my story. I spent a whole weekend with Verizon and I am still not working. Any data from the community will be helpful. I want to know if this is a global issue or if it is only affecting me. I have had this happen with 3 routers, 1 gen1 and 2 gen2's.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Finally - a solution. *wipes brow*
First off, I want to state that the networking group located in the Syracuse - all the other tech need to visit them for a week and learn:
    - How to talk to a customer (what to say and not to say)
    - How routers work, how they can be configured, and what they are capable of. Basically, learn a bit about networking.
    - Listen to the customer - they may know more than you.
Anyway, thank you very much Syracuse Team!
While working with the tech (this guy was awesome and actually listened to me about the automatic port forwards that were appearing from Verizon), he decided to to use the RJ45 network WAN connection in addition the COAX. My setup was setup to only use the COAX connection - it's been that way for over a year now.
The tech turned set it up so that my data was going through the RJ45 and the TV was going through the COAX. When he did this and we reset the router to factory, the Verizon forwarded ports were no longer showing up and as a result, I was able to create ports at will without conflict.
So beware all of you who are setup to only use the COAX connection. It appears that one of my set top boxes was now throwing in the port forwards that I noted in the original post and those were screwing everything up. Go figure that, eh? I wonder who said that some 14 tech hours ago?
Anyway - if you are unable to create port forwards without a conflict error, call up Verizon and tell them the issue. If they act like they never heard this, tell them about my situation and that adding the RJ45 connection in addition the COAX is the solution. Just make sure you reset your router to factory when they are done or else those odd port forwards won't clear.
    Peace out and good luck!
