WRT400N Requires Constant hard reset

Anyone else have to constantly reset their WRT400N? Since I bought this thing a couple of months ago it has been nothing but trouble, barely agle to go a week without dropping all wireless connections and requring a hard reset before being able to function normally again. I am starting to think that this was not worth the price I paid for it.

Are you getting the same problem on the hard-wired computer...?
Try the readjust the wireless settings on the router...On the setup page of the router,Under the Wireless tab..click on Advanced Wireless Settings..Change the Beacon Interval to 50,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Now check...

  • IPod Nano (7th generation) constantly requires a hard reset

About 7-9 times a week I have to perform a hard reset on my iPod. The iPod does not respond when any of the buttons are pressed and the battery can be completely full. After the hard reset everything seems to work properly.
This commonly occurs for me when the iPod is not in use for a few hours or when the battery is charging through the wall adapter (This is very annoying becuase the battery will no longer charge. When I come back 40 minutes later the battery will be at the same percentage as when I left it). That said, it has also occured when plugged into the computer or in the middle of listening to the media, just not as common.
I'm not sure if it is related, but sometimes I'll be listening to an audiobook or podcast and the iPod will reset itself. The iPod then bookmarks my "stopping point" an hour or two behind where I actually was.
To resolve the issue I have restored the iPod multiple times through iTunes, even using a different iTunes library on a different computer. No luck. Does anybody have any suggestions or do I need to make the two hour trip to the local Apple store? Is this something I should just expect from the product?
    Cheers!

Make the trip. Make a Genius Bar appointment before you go.

  • G5 Quad hangs almost every night - requiring a hard reset in the morning

leaves absolutely nothing in the system logs.
It's very strange. I leave barely anything running at night - maybe email and occasionally VMWare.
When I get in the next morning, the screen saver is completely frozen. and I have to power off/on to get it to respond.
    Any ideas?

Dozens of threads on "restart on wake from sleep" and you have an Intel (non-IBM/PPC G5). Similar case, totally different.
Reset the SMC. Turn if off and shutdown for the night. Unplug all cables and power. If on UPS, just shutdown and turn off UPS.
Some screen savers may be better than others.

  • K8N Neo2 - WinXP requires a hard reset/power off

Everything seems to be working fine on my system except when I try to reboot or shut down the computer from within WinXP Pro.  I go into the shutdown menu and select reboot or shut down and windows goes through the normal shutdown procedure that you'd normally expect.  At the point where you'd expect the PC to actually power down or reboot, the screen simply freezes and you are forced to click reset or hold down the power button for > 5 seconds if you want to power down.  I just registered on this forum so excuse me for not having my system info in my profile.  I'll put it up there if need be.  Let's just say for now that I'm using BIOS rev. 1.3, 1 SATA HD to boot WinXP from, and 2 ATA66 HDs on the IDE 0.  I've got a CD-RW on IDE 1.  SATA HD is on SATA 3.  Not overclocking... yet.

I suggest a 80pin cable and the cdrw at the end(master) both for improved signal integrity and that master/slave/csel is according to todays standard making things easier.
Then in the standard cmos setup page go in (enter) on the unused secondary slave
and set it's detection to NONE instead of AUTO on the second entry(in fact do this with all unused ide channels pata/sata to speed up booting )
I have a hunch that this solves the problem as you have one device attached as master ,so the ide controller assumes there is a slave present also .

I'm using the IDE "round cable" that came with the K8N Neo2 which has got to be 80-wire/40-pin, right?  I've got the master connecter connected to the CD-RW and the CD-RW jumpered as master.  I will try changing detection to NONE instead of AUTO like you suggest.  Thanks for the advice.

  • Phone randomly dies requiring hard reset

Does anyone else have this same issue.  My phone randomly dies and requires a hard reset.  It has happened to me twice in 10 days.  First time I thought that I had let my phones battery get to low but after putting it on the charger for an hour it would not power on using the button... had to hard reset.  Second time I am 96.3 % positive it had over 75% battery and it randomly died also requiring a hard reset.  I have an iphone5 32GB 6.1.3 version ios.  My girlfriend is having the same issue with her Droid so I know it is not just an iphone issue.  Verizon please respond.

        Good morning Bomgart!
I like to think being random is a great attribute. Sadly, not when it comes to a phone though. But fear not, because we've got a couple of solutions for one of our favorite couples.
Now, there's no doubt that random dying is an illness that does plague a small minority of devices. But, there's a possibility that it may be due to the equipment itself or potentially something that was installed. Based on your description of things, you're up to date in software. And hard resets are a fantastic route to take when experiencing these issues. But, we want to isolate the problem. What I'm going to recommend is doing another hard reset http://vz.to/Sq8I9x . Only this time, test it out before you load on your applications. Also, you may wish to remove those which may not be entirely reputable (battery savers, task killers, etc.). Please let me know how that goes and while we're on the topic, which device does your girlfriend have with us? I've got you covered.

  • PLEASE HELP ME! IPAD 2 KEEPS REQUIREING HARD RESET!

I feel like breaking down and crying. My iPad 2 keeps requireing a hard reset if I leave it alone for a while. Don't give me flak about being a little kid, or a wimp. Please. Just help me! PLEASE!!!!!!!

  • Why does airport extreme need hard reset after power outage

Airport extreme is unresponsive after interruptions in power and requires a hard reset to get working again.  It will also freeze during heavy usage from multiple computers and then a hard reset is necessary to get it working again.  It is becoming a chore.

The obvious answer is that if you are using firmware 7.5.2, downgrade to 7.4.2.
Otherwise if you can simulate a power fail by pulling the plug and still have the problem then
If you are still under warranty, take it back...

  • One Last thing about Hard reset..!!!

    Hi Guys,
Read few post about Hard reset on N95. Still need to clarify one last thing. If I do a hard rest, does it clear all the unwanted small small files in the phone memory? In addition, if I install a trial version, will it allow me to use even if the software is expired before the hard reset?
Message Edited by wumesh on 06-Jan-2008 03:16 PM

Thanks again for your prompt response.
    45. My device "died" during an update. What should I do?
Yes, try hard rest, if it doesn’t work take to the Care Point
I agree with you, no one has mentioned whether it is healthy to do the hard reset. Even for soft reset I don’t think so but I assume it doesn’t have much of an impact to the device.
My main requirement for hard resetting is that I have tried many third-party applications with my N95 and I know that even I have removed them all, there are some files are in my phone memory. When I search for clear the unwanted, I didn’t find any better way than hard resting.

  • Ipad 2 keeps requiring hard reset

I am having a problem with the iPad 2 that requires me to do a hard reset to get the iPad to come back on. This has happened 3 to 4 times now and I've only had it roughly 3 weeks. Last night it was low on power (10%) and when I went to wake it up it wouldn't come on. I thought a process must have drained it so I put it on the dock and went to bed. I woke up this morning and it still would not wake up. I held the sleep and home button down for a few seconds and got the apple logo. When it came on it didn't charge although it's been charging on the dock all night. Anyone else seeing this happen with their iPad 2 on 4.3?

Went back to the Apple store and this time the agent was able to do an normal diagnostics (which, by the way is pretty cool how they do it over the internet). The last agent that helped me couldn't run a proper diagnostics because 'the networ was down'. The diagnostics said I was running low on memory a lot and the agent looked at all the apps I had running in the background (lots!!) and showed me how to close them after no longer using them. But he also noticed that the time my iPad had saved for being used and sleeping were identical so he concluded it was a hardware issue and promptly exchanged the ipad! That was pretty awesome too. Overall I'm still very happy I bought an iPad

  • IPod requires hard reset after playing podcast with chapters

I've noticed that I need to do a hard reset (hold down menu and select buttons for a few seconds) after my iPod goes idle after playing a podcast with chapters (the Ricky Gervais show).
    Anyone else have this problem?

Can reproduce the problem on a 20GB 4G and 6GB mini
with another podcast series with chapters
(fortunately not many I listen to have caught up with
    chaptering).
The odd behaviour I've noticed is that the Ricky
Gervais podcast, for example, only has to be present
on the iPod and never listened to for the iPod/s to
lock up when they go to sleep. A hard reset then
required to bring them back to life until the podcast
has been listened to and the iPod/s then resync'ed
with the mothership to then remove it (and restore
some sanity until the next one).
I did conduct a hard restart of my 10GB iPod with no success. The only workaround solution I've discovered is to use the "Convert Selection to AAC" under the Advance menu in iTunes while selecting the podcast. It converts the podcast to a new AAC file without chapters, and it plays fine on my second gen iPod. But now my library has 2 copies of each podcast, one for iTunes, one for iPod. Anyone else have any luck with the 10GB iPod? I guess it doesn't like the new podcasts with chapters.

  • Is an iPad hard reset required to change my mail setup?

My situation is this. I have domain-managed email forwarded to a Gmail account. On Gmail, the domain-managed address is the default address used for all transactions. When I bought my iPad, I set up one mail account, type Gmail, signing in with the Gmail address/password, but set up so as to allow "send as" from the domain-managed address. This type of setup works fine on my iPad, my iPhone, and, for that matter, my MacBookPro.
Now, I'm thinking of removinv Google as the "middleman" and dealing directly and strictly with my domain host's mail server. All is well except for one final question. My hosting company's instructions for iPad setup include the warning, "Warning for iPad users: If you have already setup your email incorrectly, you cannot simply update the settings to be correct. Instead, you need to fully delete the account from the iPad, perform a hard reset, and recreate the entire account with the proper settings." It seems to me they might mean by "if you have already setup your mail incorrectly", the sort of setup I currently have!
I surely would appreciate confirmation or denial from a guru or geek among you as to whether a hard reset is truly required in my case. This would be a grievous hassle for both iOS devices!

    1. A reset is not required.
    2. A reset is not a hassle.  It takes maybe a minute and nothing is changed.

  • Lion Hangs requiring hard reset

    Hi,
I've looked through the forum and not seen this specifically mentioned..
Is anyone else having issues with Lion whereby the whole system becomes unresponsive and has to be power cycled?  Since upgrading my Macbook pro and iMac this week and I've had to do it on both machines.
I've seen this caused by Safari (2 occasions) and Finder (2 occasions).  On 3 of the 4 times Force quit didn't work and on 1 occasion Force Quit wouldn't even load!
Since it's not a 'crash' I see no reports in Console and nothing explicit to report back to Apple - though I have submitted a feeback form on the subject.
    Anyone else seeing similar issues?

  • Iphone 4regularly requires hard reset

I have encountered an annoying issue with my iphone 4. Recently it needs regular hard resets (3 times in 4days). Plugging into the mains results in no response. Plugging into computer the iphone remains blank but itunes give an error of 1600. My only option is pressing sleep/wake and home button at the same time. It then returns to working normally. It has been getting rather annoying as I assume my phone is on, but it has turned itself off.
The phone is running 4.2.1 and has not been tampered with
    Has anyone else experienced this?
Do you think if i go to my local apple store they would do anything about it?
Do I have any other options.
    Any opinions would be welcomed
    Alfie

Have you tried restoring the software, it is the first thing they will ask in the Apple Store.
It can fix issues like this.

  • RAZR MAXX Required Hard Reset, Now Can't Access SD Card?

Today, my GPS signal kept malfunctioning. This was unacceptable as I drive all over the place for work. I called Verizon support and they had me do a hard reset.
After the hard reset, I set up my phone again and was unable to access the SD card. I entered my pin, and the following message showed up on my phone:
    SD Card Password Protection
SD card has been secured by another device and cannot be accessed unless formatted.
    Tap "OK" and:
    SD Card Password Protection
Failed to verify SD card security settings.  Encrypted content is not accessible.
Tap "OK" and I'm taken back to the home screen.
Is there any way to restore the SD card?  If not, how do you reformat the card to make it usable again? When I try to reformat it from the phone, the only option I have under "storage" is "Mount SD Card" which obviously does not work.
    Thank you.

Hi DroidRAzrMaxx0111 - I appreciate you taking the steps to troubleshoot your original concerns and I apologize it had some unintended results! When going to Settings>Location & Security>Data Encryption, is "Storage" currently checked? Is "Encryption key type" greyed out? I look forward to working with you to restore the data!
    Thank you,

  • ICS required hard reset, now can't access 32GB SD card

Saw message this morning that update 6.16.211.XT912 had been downloaded and was ready to install...said it would take 15 minutes...
45 minutes later, the only thing I could get was emergency dialer.  Powered down, powered up same thing.
Called tech support, tried powering on/off again and then told to hard reset.
So after the hard reset, ICS is there and the phone is working....BUT I had encrypted my SD card (32GB) and now when I try to mount it get:
    SD Card Password Protection
SD card has been secured by another device and cannot be accessed unless formatted.
    Click "OK" and see:
    SD Card Password Protection
Failed to verify SD card security settings.  Encrypted content is not accessible.
Click OK" and  back to settings screen!
Is there anyway to tell the OS what the pin was/is?  If not, how do you reformat the card to make it usable again?  Does it need to be done off the Razr?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks to both poidude and b33 for the replies...but not seeing these options.  OS is 4.0.4 (ICS) and the phone is a Droid Razr...System Version that crashed the phone on install is 6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.
When I Select "System Settings" from the Home screen (using the "hard button" on the lower left of the phone) I get a nice new ICS screen.  The first category is "Wireless and Networks", the second category is  "Device".  Under "Device" is "Storage".  Selecting "Storage" leads you to a screen with Major categories of  "Total Phone Storage",  "Application Storage",  "Internal Storage/MNT/SDCARD".
    Under this last category, there  is (after a storage utilization bar chart)  "Erase Internal Storage" , "Manage Internal Storage";
If I select "Erase Internal Storage", I get  "This action will erase the internal storage on the phone. You will lose all the data on the internal storage";  There is a button "Format Internal Storage".  There is no option to separately format the SD card.
What may be more relevant is that when the phone boots up, it tries to read the SD card and then displays the "SD Card Password Protection"  messages in my original post.  So the OS is trying to mount the SD, but because it was encrypted (and from what I have read, the encryption key was stored in internal memory, which got wiped when the Verizon rep had me do a factory reset!  There is no way to ever recover this data.  Have looked at Motorola and Droid forums on this...it is really bad.  DO NOT USE ENCRYPTION.  If your phone dies, your data is gone forever)
The thing is, I cannot use the next major category under system settings, which is "SD CARD/ MNT/ SDCARD-EXT" which has only one option, "Mount SD Card"...if I try to mount the card, I get the same "SD Card Password Protection"  messages again!
Can anyone who has inserted an SD card into a Droid Razr running 4.0.4. tell me if a brand new SD card is auto formatted?  Do you have to "mount" it first?  The current Verzion "help" shots are not for 4.0.4....ugh
