WRT400N stops routing packets seemingly randomly

I'll show you what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/eTV6a.png
This happens intermittantly. This results in most connections (but not all) being dropped. I will be unable to connect to web servers. My connection to videogame servers will drop. However, AIM will stay connected. These were done simultaneously. The same thing happens with my Cisco AE1200 and a D-Link 802.11g adapter I have. Disconnecting my adapter and reconnecting it solves the problem. I have tried doing a factory reset on the router and installing the latest firmware. It seems to happen more frequently when I am doing a lot of throughput (downloading a game on Steam, for instance) but other times it will happen when all I am doing is playing a game (like Tribes Ascend) which uses very little data. This is extremely frustrating. When I pay more than $150 for a piece of networking equipment, I expect it to last more than 3 years. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas that I have not tried?

Are you connecting to the 2.4 ghz network or to the 5 ghz network? By the way, if you are connecting to the 2.4 Ghz network, then change the channel width to 20 Mhz only and set the Standard channel to 1 or 6 or 9 or 11. That could help you get a stable connection. Changing the channel would prevent interference from neighbor's network and any other devices that can cause interference. One thing also is to change the Network Name or the SSID of the 5 Ghz network, it should not be the same with the 2.4 ghz network. That should help. If one channel doesn't fix the issue, then play around with the other channel.

  • Wrt400n wireless router resetting at random

My router will randomly reset for no apparent reason while using the internet. If i am streaming a movie from my server or anythin for taht matter it will freeze up and when i look at the connection display at the bottom of the computer i will see i am no logner connected to my local network. After a couple of minutes i iwll see my computer reconnecting and then all i well. It just randomly resets every so often for no reason that i am aware of. It happens with both wireless and wired connections. I can make it resolve quicker by just unplugging the power and rebooting it myslf but it does it on its on if given a minute or two. Thisi s rather annoying and i would appreciate any help figuring out why its happening.

Open the setup page of the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the address bar...Under setup tab, change the MTU size to 1350 and click on save settings.Under the Wireless tab, click on Advance Wireless Settings tab...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 Click on Save Settings...
Now,power cycle the router for 1 minute and check...

  • The 'e' key stops working at seeming random times.

Several times now I've come to the computer to wake it up, and can't login to my account apparently because the 'e' key is not recognized when I try to type in the password.  It does not seem to be a keyboard issue, because when I plug in a different one, it still has the same issue.  When this happens, I have to turn off the compter by holding down the power button on the back.  Of course this means I've lost anything that wasn't saved.  After the computer boots up, it appears to work fine afterwards.  Intervals between this problem have  gone from once every couple weeks, to once every couple of days.  It appears to be only the 'e' that is affected.
    Any ideas?

The problem seems to be related to an alternate keyboard layout I sometimes use for writing in Esperanto.  It appears that if the computer goes to sleep when this layout is active, the password requester won't recognize either the 'e' or the 'a' keys.  This is rather strange, since this layout doesn't redefine either of these keys.
The work-around is that I've changed my password so that it doesn't use either of these keys.  One I'm properly logged in, the keyboard works normally.
The particular layout I use is an old one, with the last update on the readme file dated 2004.  I haven't been able to find a newer version of this layout, and other Esperanto layouts I've found remap the keyboard differently from this one.  It'd be like learning to type all over again.  I don't want to do that if I can avoid it.
I appreciate the help and advice.  I knew that just turning off the power was a bad idea, but I didn't know what else to do, if I was unable to log in in the first place.

  • Particle emitter stops and starts, seemingly randomly

I have a particle emitter which is raining down particles (Line shape, 0˚ emission range) All goes well, until I get to frame 900 (and 1800, and 2700 etc...). At this point the particles stop, semmingly automatically, until 102 frames later when the stream of particles starts up again. This continues throughout the composition, every 900 frames or so. I am wondering if there is a solution to this, or a workaround.
    Thanks

Also, when I change the In and Out points of the emitter, it is still at frame 900 of the composition that it stops.

  • (Illustrator CS6) Spacebar stops working seemingly randomly

This is an infrequent issue I've had, but it has happened more than once in the last few weeks that I've been using CS6 on a regular basis:
On occasion, my spacebar will just stop working in Illustrator CS6, so I can't use the hand tool or zoom or… you know, type, basically making Illustrator unuseable. Now, I'm PRETTY sure it has nothing to do with my actual keyboard, because the spacebar will continue to work just fine in every other application even after it does this.
The only fix is restarting the computer. Just restarting the application doesn't do it. Deleting the preferences file and restarting doesn't fix it. It's really perplexing.
Now, I'm NOT certain about this, but I think it might occur after waking from sleep (but not immediately, so perhaps it's unrelated). If/when it happens next, I will attempt to see if I can reproduce the issue, but so far I have no idea why it happens; it just seems random.
I'm using a late 2008 MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM, running Mac OSX 10.7.4 and Illustrator CS6 (16.0.0, in case people see this after an update has been released).

I am having this problem as well, but happening quite frequently.
Also having Illustrator crashing a lot randomly as well.
Tried 32bit as well - same issue.
I've deleted settings as well - same issue.
I've tried this with multiple files, old and newly created in CS6. Same problem.
    No issues with CS5.

  • Seemingly random intermittent packet loss

Hello! Over the past month or so I've been experiencing intermittent packet loss.My internet will be completely find for anywhere between five minutes and 12 hours, and then suddenly I begin experiencing packet loss (sometimes to the point of total disconnection) for anywhere between 5 seconds and 30 minutes. It is seemingly random because it has happened during any time of the day and during any weather condition. It also does not seem to be related to one hop (if my understanding of pingplotter is correct)Here are a few examples of when the issue is occuring:http://i.imgur.com/cuGayms.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/jjt2K6Y.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/48DFCti.png Things I have tried I noticed that in my modem diagnostics page my upstream power level was pretty high at 54 dbmv.I removed a splitter that was before the modem and it instantly dropped to the lower 40's.I was hoping this would fix the problem, but the packet loss came back. This morning a particularly bad session of packet loss occurred and I decided to check my modem diagnostics again and discovered the upstream power level had jumped up to the upper 40's, lower 50's again, despite the splitter still being removed. I have also gone through the simple steps of power cycling, resetting everything, checking cables are not loose, etc. I figured I would ask on this forum for any ideas on my next step before consulting with comcast as I know that intermittent problems are nearly impossible for a tech to solve unless you're lucky enough to have the issue occur while the tech is present. Thank you for any help you can give!

In a self troubleshooting effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.
If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street/pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed, and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

  • Output Server stops processing files (seemingly) at random

We use Adobe Central Output Server 5.5.0.308 to process Invoices/POs and the like from CommerceCenter (An Epicor/Prophit 21 product).  We have three isntances of it running on three seperate terminal servers.
It has been working pretty well for years.  Sometimes it would fail to process a certain file or it would stop responding and need to be restarted, but nothing serious and never very often.
Suddenly in the last couple of months it has stopped processing files at random during the day.  To get it to start again we have to open the Control Center and go to Control -> Start Server.  Then it will process everything in the queue just fine.  It has been happening on both of our older 2003 terminal servers fairly often (at least 4 times a week) and just happened for the first time on our new 2008 R2 terminal server.
None of us here know much about Output Server and there is nothing in the Server log or the Event Viewer that indicates any sort of issue, so we are at a loss.
I don't really even know where to begin as the documentation of the relationship between CommerceCenter and Output Server is non-existent.
I'm really looking for any ideas... Maybe somebody has run into this issue before?

  • AE CS5 (10.0.1.19) Ram Preview - Audio stops and continue playing randomly

I already reported this issue to Adobe as a BUG but I want to ask here if somebody else have this problem or can confirm it.
Audio breaks/stops and continue playing randomly when 'Ram Previewing'
It happens mostly when the RAM is fully filled up with image cache files! When the Ram is not filled up totally with image cache files it happens rarely!
Steps to reproduce BUG / issue:
    1. create a new composition with a length of for example 5 minutes.
    2. create a new solid with size of 50x50 pixel and animate the position of the solid for a very long time so when ram previewing the whole ram/memory gets filled up with different image cache data (this is very important!). Alternatively you could use a long video file to fill up the RAM completely.
    3. import a wave file .wav 16bit 48khz uncompressed which is very long for example 5 minutes.
    4. insert the wave file in the earlier created composition which contain the animated solid or video file.
    5. Set the work area bar (preview range) for the whole composition.
'Ram Preview' the composition until the whole RAM/memory is filled up with image data.
AE has to stop rendering because there is no more space available in RAM.
make sure 'from current time' checkbox is off.
    6. listen to the audio which stops playing randomly for about 1-2 seconds and comes back and continues playing (***BUG***)
    7. Now set the right handle of the composition work area bar (preview range) to less then the maximum RAM size
(less then the green cache indicator on the right side)
    8. "Purge image caches" or "Purge All"
    9. Ram preview the now smaller work area
    10. listen to the audio. The audio breaks are gone! (***Workaround***)
    Additional information:
I have the latest After Effects CS5 update installed (10.0.1.19)
This behavior is tested with different audio drivers inside After Effects CS5 (After Effects WDM Sound, Generic Low Latency ASIO Driver,  ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver)
I also tried different Sample Sizes Buffers (alternatively to the default 2048 samples) but without success.
Reducing the amount of RAM which After Effects can access didn't solve the problem!
    System:
Win7 64bit all latest Updates, 8GB RAM, CPU: intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300, nVidia Quadro FX 2700M, IDT High Definition Audio Driver v6.10.0.6227
There is no driver problem on my system because After Effects CS3 & CS4, Premiere & Soundbooth CS3 CS4 CS5 have no audio problems!
I have lots of other professional audio software like Steinberg Cubase 5.... on the same system and they all work fine.
I also turned off AVG Anitivirus and Windows firewall for testing without success.
AdobeQT32Server.exe, dynamiclinkmanager.exe, PProHeadless.exe, afterfx.exe do not get blocked by firewall they have full permission.
The CS5 Production Premium installation went fine and without errors and antivirus protection was turned off for the installation.
    Any help would be nice!
    Felix

    Yep, I agree with craulmedia....
It's 1 month ago after my initial post and no valuable feedback from Adobe although I filled out the bug report in addition to this post and provide my email for further information.
The only reason for upgrading from CS4 -> CS5 production suite was the use of all my 8GB RAM in AE and now AE can use it but when it's using it the audio have issues.
CS5 is on the market for nearly a year and still have such essential issues... And my fear rises there will be no valuable update fixing these issues but instead Adobe forces me to upgrade later this year to CS6 in hope something change...
I have had support request for different Adobe products in the past including telephone support, web support via Adobe ID... none with success the web support answered my request 3 weeks later with the message they will look into it... time went by and in the end the result was "Yes we know it's a known bug" the bug did not get fixed for that CS version. it even exists in the next major CS release! (talking about EncoreDVD here). Once the web support answered weeks later when I was in holidays and after some days I was not able to respond they closed my case. I reopened the case but never got an answer! Telephone support is nearly waste of time because in 95% of all cases it does not help to reinstall the whole operating system and talking to people who know less about computers in general or Adobe products then my mom - it's a waste of time.
I don't want to blame here anybody for things happend in the past I just want to point out that this time I choose an other support channel (bug report and forum post) but it seems that this support channel is also a waste of time after 1 month with no valueable feedback!
I bumped up this post 2 times and thanks to craulmedia for the third time.
And now here is my fourth time *BUMP*
All I got so far is: "I saw your bug report it's in the queue"
Is it still in the queue? which queue nr. does it have? how long will it take to get any answer? is it reproducible? Is it confirmed as a known bug by Adobe? Is Adobe working on a fix? When will this fix be available? Is the fix provided in form of an update or in the next major release?
OK, I know this is a user to user forum and Adobe people only stop by in their free time and there is no guarantee for any real support.
But it started out so good in the first time...
Last 2 things I want to add here:
    1. Why should I provide my email in the bug report? Sure so Adobe can get back to me for further information... but wouldn't it be nice if Adobe would be so kind to give some status report to that given email as a small present for the enthusiastic beta testers ?
    2. please Adobe take a look at www.uservoice.com already Autodesk started to move there with 3ds Max.

  • SRP527w Traffic stops routing when multiple PVC's are active

    Hi,
I am currently experiencing two incredibly annoying bugs with the srp527w, if anyone could help me at all it would be much appreciated:
    I am using firmware version                 1.01.19 (004).
    Problem 1:
I have my srp527w setup with the following:
PVC0 - VPI = 0 VCI = 35, this is setup with RFC1483 bridge, the interface is then added to the one and only vlan I have active on this device.
This interface is used for IGMP traffice for my providers IPTV service.
I then have PVC1 VPI=8 VCI=35, setup as PPPoE and set as my default gateway for internet traffic.
This setup works fine for a random amount of time, or until the device is rebooted, or until a change is made such as dhcp being turned on or off, which should not affect routes at all.
PVC1 will stay connected but just stop routing internet traffic at all. It is definitely set as the default route for the vlan. The router is configured with 3 VPN endpoints, I can still access these remote sites, just not the internet. PVC0 / IGMP traffic still works fine.
    Problem 2:
Even though the vocie ports are on the same VLAN as my VPN endpoints, they will not register to a sip server on the VPN endpoint - an ATA will register fine if connected to the ethernet port.
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
Could you send me a copy of your configuration (http://192.168.15.1/admin/config.xml) please?  I'm wondering if there is some issue with the way that you are associating the PVCs with your VLAN.
The second point is expected I'm afraid.  It is not possible to route traffic from the internal voice ports over an IPSec tunnel.
    Regards,
    Andy

  • Router 2811 stop routing

Hi all, I have a 2811 [Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(11)XJ, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)] and I don´t know why, sometimes the router just stop routing. I perform a "show ip route" or "show arp" and seems to be everything ok. Interfaces are all up, and a site-to-site vpn active but no traffic between the sites.
Does anybody know what could be happening or what command should I execute the next time?
    Best regards
    Carlos

  • Latest update causes seemingly random crashes

I recently updated to the new version of 2.2. The update seemed to go without a hitch. Within an hour I had my first taste of what was to come. Listening to the ipod music (not a third party app), it just crashed in the middle of a song. It shows the apple icon and reboots. about 8-10 minutes later, it just stops playing and locks up. When manually rebooting the phone, and reopening the ipod, it crashed after the third song. It also does this while watching video(s). Seemingly at random times with NO user interaction. Pandora application rarely gets by 1 or 2 songs now. I now have trouble syncing to the appstore, itunes and mail.
The 3G reception bars now suddenly drop from full to nothing, then back again. The wireless connection is less stable. .......I'm sitting here right now watching the bars go from full to nothing at seemingly random intervals never lasting more than 30 seconds. The phone is just sitting here doing nothing. It seems to me that the crashing/reboot behavior is similar to a memory leak or something similar that can allow the phone to handle so much (I don't know what it could be since it is seems so random, yet frequent) before crashing.
I have restored the phone and tried a new install and have the exact same results. The previous update left me happy if not at least functional. I didn't have any issues as frequent as this. My phone is basically useless now since none of the applications proprietary or not seem to work for long now.
Is anyone having similar issues they could share some secret iphone handshake to make it work again, or has anyone had any luck getting through to tech support? I'm not having any luck there currently.

I suspect its most likely a Java bug.
You're best off reporting it to Sun, err I mean oracle.

  • WRT54G, Firmware Version: 8.00.2, Stops routing after a day, Requires Power Cycle to Work Properly

WRT54G, Firmware Version: 8.00.2, Stops routing after a day, requires a quick 10-15 second power cyc... work properly for a day or so before powering down again….
I was using for years the BEFW11S4 Model without any issues before it finally failed. Due to loyalty, I went out over a month ago to purchase the current model. The problems did not pop-up until month of December… The issue had me thinking at first was the internet connection…
Any advice on dealing with this issue… Is it a Software and/or Hardware? It appears to be a software related condition…
For those other WRT54G users that appear to be having similar issues, regardless of the firmware, it would appear we all seem to be facing the same condition of resolving the issue after a power cycle…
Is there anyone out there that has already resolved this issue (e.g. Configuration changes)? Does anyone have input that Linksys is actively working on this issue?
Although I am sure we will find a solution, having to cycle the power is a bit disappointing since my older model had no such flaws with my current internet connection…
Thanks for the support out there….

If you have an Intel wireless card you can try this.  I came across this link on the forum a days ago and it seems to help.  The problem is that my problem was much more intermittent than some people are experiencing.  It mainly seemed to appear when undocked the computer or if there was a power outage during the day.  I would be interested to see if it works for you or if I'm just chasing my tail.  I've seen other suggestions for changing the thresholds in the router which may be related.

  • Why does text on certain portions of websites, usually when adjacent text contains special characters, become jumbled into seemingly random sets of characters that are not in any way jumbled when viewing the source of the webpage? How can I fix this?

When viewing most text on most websites, it displays properly. However, there are two instances where text will either tend to, or consistently, become jumbled into a mess of seemingly random characters. Oddly enough, these seemingly random characters are not, in fact, random. The same weird character will be used to replace the same regular English text character consistently across the entire area that has been jumbled.
The two instances where this tends to occur most often, or consistently in some cases, are, first, when a paragraph or particular section of formatted text contains special characters, such as Chinese or Japanese characters, or accented letters. When this happens, usually the paragraph that contains the special characters is completely jumbled, while the rest of the text on the page will have intermittent jumbling on a word or two. Most often, the word "the" is jumbled in this case.
The second instance where this happens is when a website uses specially formatted text in some form or another. I, not being an expert at web development, am not sure what kind of formatting causes it, but I can provide consistent examples in lieu of my experience:
    - Example 1:
Example 1 shows a portion of a screen-shot of the website "Joystiq.com". Every single article title on the front page of this blog is consistently jumbled, while the text of the article itself remains untouched. Please note that when this jumbled text is highlighted, it is visible un-jumbled in the right-click menu as well as in the source code of the page. Other consistent instances can be found within many search fields on various websites. For instance, the search bar located at the top right of "Kotaku.com" consistently displays jumbled characters both on its default text of "Search" and on any text that is typed into the search box itself.
    - Example 2:
Example 2 shows both the jumbling of the paragraph containing the character "☆" as well as the subsequent peppering of the rest of the article's text with small jumbled words. Below this is the DOM Source of the selected text which shows how the text itself is being rendered properly within the site's source. Additionally, for convenience, I have edited on to the bottom of the image a small snippet of what the search bar on the same page looks like. Notice how the grayed-out text that normally would read "Search" is instead jumbled.
This issue has been plaguing my browser for the past year or so, and I had hoped that it would go away with subsequent Firefox updates. It has not gone away.
Thank you for reading! Please help!

This issue can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or see if you can find a True type version that doesn't show the problem.
There have also been fonts with a Chinese name reported that identify themselves as Helvetica, so check that as well.
Use this test to see if the Helvetica font is causing it (Copy & Paste the code in the location bar and press Enter):
    <pre><nowiki>data:text/html,
    Helvetica<br><font face="Helvetica" size="25">abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ</font><br>
    Helvetica Neue<br><font face="Helvetica Neue" size="25">abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ</font>
    </nowiki></pre>
You should reset the network.http prefs that show user set on the about:config page.<br />
Not all websites support http pipelining and if they do not then you can have issues with images or other problems.

  • My Final Cut Pro render files seem to end up in seemingly random locations.

I find my Final Cut Pro render files seem to end up in seemingly random locations on the HDD. for example, they will appear in a sub-folder of an unrelated project. I would like my render files destination to be in a sub-folder for the project I am working on. How do you tell Final Cut where to put the render files? Can't figure it out.

By default they are put inside your scratch folder, so if you change the scratch disk and forget to change it when you switch to a different project, your render files will be put inside the other project's scratch folder.
You can change this by going to Final Cut Pro > System Settings. If you click the Set button below your current scratch disk (not the one next to it) you can assign a second location just for the video / audio renders if you desire (this must be on a different disk though).
