WRT54G 3.* Here's a doozy for ya!
It doesn't accept incoming connections. The type of connections one would get if they were trying to host a server. In fact, when someone else, hell even myself, tries to connect VIA internet (world) IP, they actually get asked for my router's password. If that doesn't happen the connection is simply ignored until it times out. Actions I've taken: Updated to the latest version (that actually made it worse, I couldn't connect to the internet at all, one way or the other). Set up DMZ. Gave my laptop a static IP set before the DHCPs range of IPs (I gave it 192.168.1.99, and the DHCP gives .101-.151.) None of this work, as no -incoming- connections make it passed my router. What good is an effin router that doesn't route!?
I've never hosted but, if you are hosting at home, I believe you need to configure your port forwarding settings.
Port forwarding
Plus, if your ISP has you on DHCP and you are hosting you need to configure your DDNS settings.

So, if R wants to sync her iphone 5C but still have L pay for it on the family plan, can R just get her own itunes account for buying music and apps? Or is she stuck using L's account?
Family Plan as with the cell phone carrier?
Is so, the iTunes account or Apple ID is not related to the type of cell phone plan an iPhone is under.
Will the sisters being using the same computer and iTunes library? -
Here's what worked for me...
Here's what worked for me:
1) I opened iTunes and in Options, I selected iTunes as the default music player for my computer (it wasn't). (I even uninstalled RealPlayer and WinAmp.)
2) I uninstalled iTunes and iPod, and reinstalled using the newer versions on the Apple site.
3) I basically followed this advice:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=291183&tstart=0
Which was basically to leave my iPod connected to the computer while rebooting. The first 2 times it didn't work, I forgot to put iTunes in the start menu, so that it opens when I reboot. I put iTunes and iTunes Helper (whatever that is) in the start menu (I used WinPatrol to do so, available for free here: http://www.winpatrol.com/), and then rebooted, and after a couple of tries, like magic iTunes opened, recognized my iPod, and updated it, and then, for the first time, without freezing my system, told me it was okay to disconnect.
It even worked while still running my regular systray apps, like McAfee VirusScan, Ewido Anti-Malware, Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta, and SpywareBlaster, so those were not the issue. I get the impression you need to boot it once so it recognizes the iPod and does that handshake thing, and hopefully after that it'll always do the same. We'll see...
I hope this helps someone, b/c its been a frustrating day working through all this, and I know a lot of others are still trying to get it solved. And thanks to jcog for posting his solution, that helped me, and hopefully this will help someone else...

iPod Video, 60GB Windows XPit worked until the next time I synced the iPod, and then back to the freeze up. Next thing I tried was this Microsoft help page:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
which advises on several things, all of which seem helpful, but the thing still freezes up. I can sync the iPod, then the system freezes and I have to reboot. So, I now believe Apple will have to issue a patch for these bugs when using the new 5G iPods with WinXP.

i have two sets of devices one ipad, iphone and mac which i use and one iphone ipad and mac which my wife uses
now is it possible to have two sets of contacts and calendar synchronised for her devices and one for my devices using the same icloud account
i dont want a separate itunes account as we use the same music books and apps to be automatically downloaded which is very convenient
please guideYou can set up different iCloud accounts on each device using different Apple IDs (to keep your mail, calendars, contacts, etc. separated), and still share the same iTunes account (in Settings>Store on your device). There is no requirement that you use the same Apple ID for purchases and for iCloud.

During the course of setting up a WRT54G, it is now asking me for a Passphrase before it will connect wireless to my notebook.... In other words, my notebook detected it and wants a Passphrase to allow the connection. It is like 16 characters long... I have no idea of what it could be. Is there any way to reset everything and start from scratch.
Also.... the pack in CD refused to reconize my two different computers Internet configurations.... One has XP, the other has Vista.
There is also a password box (which i never set a password to) poping up when i try to got to http://192.168.1.1
Message Edited by on 07-28-2007 04:42 PMWell, I have a couple of suggestions for solving your password issue:
A)with out reseting
1) if you have an ethernet cable connected to you nic in your laptop,
2) type in your router address in your window
3) login as the user:admin, password; admin to your router
4) go to wireless security pick a pass phrase you want to use as your encrypted code that you will use for your laptops wireless connection, click generate.(You should get 4 varaitions of it use one, make sure you pick 64 bit or 128 bit encryption most likely the 128.CTRL-C the chosen encryption.
5) Reconnect wirelessly to your router, Ctrl-v in the passphrase box and login.
B)If nothin of that works reset your router and follow the steps again. -
Here's my fix for Forte installer hang on WinMe.
Hi all (all those with problems anyway :) ,
(I tried to post this in the Sun ONE Studio forum
but always got an error)
I had a problem installing Sun One Studio 4 Update 1.
It would keep freezing when it started searching for
the J2SDK, with the message: "Searching for suitable
J2SDK, please wait..".
Well, here's what worked for me on WinMe. Not all of
these steps may be necessary.
Install J2SDK to "C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01". First I uninstalled
it because it was in a folder with a space in the name. I
heard that was an issue with some OS's.
Create a text file containing the text "jh=C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01".
Close it and rename it as "ffj_ce_win32_en.sp". It's appar-
ently important that its name is the same as the installer,
except for the "sp" extension of course.
Put it into the same directory with ffj_ce_win32_en.exe
( the Forte installer ).
Leave the name of the Forte installer as original (instead
of renaming it to something more descriptive for example ).
Mine was named "ffj_ce_win32_en.exe".
In C:\Windows\
Rename java.exe to java-.exe
Rename javaw.exe to javaw-.exe
The important thing here is to make sure their new names are
unlikely to conflict with the names of any other files that
might be placed there later.
Now run the installer again and make it (finally !),
After I did all the above, it immediately found the correct
folder (instead of the usual freeze-up).
Hope this helps someone else too.Thanx!!! A frustrating hour and a half later I found your post and it worked beautifully!

having problem buying online.need your help since it's my first time here.apple is asking for my billing address but when i enter my address here in qatar,it's saying i should enter a valid zip code within the u.s.does it mean i can't buy online even if it wil be shipped within u.s. only?
To buy in for delivery in Qatar, you should be starting from the Apple Qatar site:
http://www.apple.com/qa/
Do you have an Apple-ID? if you do, then you should not have to enter your Address again, and may be able to sidestep the US Zip Code issue. -
Here is example code for HTTPS Tunneling through proxy(400 Lines of code
Here is the source for Https Tunneling that I have gotten working. It is based on Pua Yeow Cheong's JavaWorld Tip 111. Thanks to David Lord for providing the final breakthrough that I needed.
I have posted it here for anyone who wishes to use it. If you find any bugs, or write any improvements, please tack them onto the end of this thread.
I have been trying to tackle this problem for quite some time, so I hope this helps a few of you out there.

the http/https implementation recognises
the java.net.Authenticator properly, you can use
that framework to do basic/digest authentication.
I think Sun's JDK 1.4 supports both basic
and digest for both proxies and the actual end
site you connect via http/https, but I haven't
tested it to be sure. I know it works
with http/basic at the end host.

have an ipod and then got the wife an iphone4. all passwords are screwed up. she can not access playstore cuz she doesn't have password. i can not get find any help on how to get or update a password for the ipod. and then get her a separate password for her iphone. we need to save her photos, music, etc to ? icloud and the phone stuff to verizon cloud? so when she gets her new Iphone6 she can have all her "stuff" back on the new phone. hope this makes sense. please offer suggestions here or at [email protected] thanks for your help!
Oh no! I'm sorry to see there's a lot of confusion here and data shared, x-rayDon. We can definitely work to fix. This happens when two devices share the same Apple ID, so she will need to reset hers. She can do so by assessing this link Apple - My Apple ID. You will need to decide who will keep the account if want separate Apple IDs since purchases cannot be shared unless you do Family Sharing.

Hello Martin,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iCloud account on your Mac. I recommend signing out of iCloud first:
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings

If you are still being prompted for your password, I recommend the steps in the following article (this article refers to an iOS device, but the steps are still relevant for your Mac as well):

I want to be able to monitor my teen daughter's computer from home using screen sharing. Anyone know how to set up screen sharing when my daughter's school has her computer set up for Apple Remote Desktop?
ARD won't be as smooth as you think over the Internet and be a security risk for your daughter.
Your best bet would be to install nannyware, then when she's asleep you can review the logs.

If this is possible to do, what are the steps to get all the music onto her iPhone's iTunes? She already has her own iCloud login, so just need to know how to add different iTunes login to her phone to access music.
Thank you for your help... I may have mis-stated a little, because she does have an Apple ID that she uses on that phone for the cloud and the app store, etc... She has just never put ny music on there or connected it to a computer with iTunes and set it up.
So with her having her own Apple ID... Can she use a different ID to get music on the phone, while keeping her personal Apple ID for everything else? If so, how? -
