8.00.4 was available for a short time. I know it caused me a handfull of problems and there was a posted issue with that firmware and LELA.
8.00.4 was removed & replaced with 8.00.2.

  • Linksys Easylink Advisor - Main has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I installed LELA 3.0.  When Windows XP starts or when I try to start LELA from the desktop icon, I receive the following error "Linksys Easylink Advisor - Main has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  In other words, I can't get LELA to run on this PC.  It does run on the other networked PC.

I don't think this is a Firefox problem. I have the same error message and I get it regardless of whether I'm using Firefox or another browser.
In checking [http://www.whatsrunning.net/QueryProductID.aspx?Product=16854] it is a file owned by Microsoft. I suggest you check your registry for errors.

  • Cannot uninstall Linksys easylink advisor

In trying to remove Linksys easylink advisor via add & remove programs, i get the message,
missing setup.msi. I installed the disk that came with the router, (wrt160n) and still no luck.
What can I do to add setup.msi to the software?
I am uninstalling Linksys easylink advisor because I just added Network Magic.
I am using Windows XP S3.

Yes, I had the exact same problem.  I have the WRT54G router version 6 firmware.  Here is a link to the new LELA.  BTW it is now blue instead of green.  http://update.linksys.com/lela/install/lela.exe  I hope this fixes your problem.

  • Start Linksys EasyLink Advisor at startup in tray

    Hi
I can configured Linksys EasyLink Advisor to start at startup in the tray ?

On the Welcome screen, uncheck the check box that says "Show welcome screen at startup". Then, click Close to finish.
Follow this link and see if you get more information about LELA.

  • Linksys EasyLink Advisor: Worth it?

I reciently installed a Limksys WRT 110 router and am generally pleased with it. However, it installed Linksys EasyLink Advisor (v 3.0 build 8122.29) which I find buggy.
    Two examples:
I regularly get a "Excaption has been thrown by the target of an invocation" error message (Did Linksys stay up nights to come up with the most un-understandable error message they could find?)
    I canot connect to http://192.168.1.1/
Ya, I know - reset the router. I've done that 3-4 times.
Can someone one give me any reason which the LEA is any better than the one Windows XP provides? I mean besides the pretty GUI....

It's all automatic cybergranddad! That's why it's better than doing it manually!
You can get an updated version here.

  • Connect WRT54G and WRT54GS

Hello, Hoping for some help with the following. So, in my living room, i have my comcast dual phone/cable modem, my linksys wrt54gs, and range of wireless devices (PC, PS3, Wii) We just bought an XBOX 360 today for my son's room, and i am trying to figure out how to connect the 360 online, without having to buy the Xbox or Linksys wireless adapters and without moving the modem into his room. Is it possible to connect my WRT54G wirelessly to my WRT54GS and then use ethernet from the wrt54g to the 360? Expert advice needed. Thanks in advance. Gavin

You cannot do what you described, at least not with Linksys firmware.  Linksys routers are designed to generate a wireless network, not to connect to an existing wireless network.
The function that you described is called a "wireless ethernet bridge".
One option would be to check around for third party firmware, to see if you can find firmware to convert your WRT54G to a wireless ethernet bridge.   You might want to check "dd-wrt" or others.  Note that loading third party firmware into your router will void your Linksys warranty.
The other option is to but an Xbox wireless adapter, or get a Linksys wireless ethernet bridge, such as the WET200, or WET54G.
Of course, the ideal solution for gaming is to run an ethernet cable from the WRT54GS to your Xbox.  I am sure your son would love it!

  • Linksys Easylink Advisor Download Link

Go to add/remove programs and remove LELA.  It is not needed for anything with your router.

  • Linksys easylink advisor

Hi all-I have installed linksys wireless router model # wrt160n. It appears that the software has installed ok, but the advisor portion gives an error msg when opening it up from the desk top. Any clues as to what the problem is? I am running windows XP. Thx

You could try to reinstall the software again. Not sure what version of the software you are running, the link below will allow you to download the latest version which is (ver 3).

  • Can you install the update for Linksys EasyLink Advisor over the current version?

I was notified of a new update for Lela, Lela-3-11.9139.94.  I saved the download to a file.
My question is as follows: Before installing the new version, do I need to uninstall the current version 3.0?
I just got the router running properly and do not want to mess anything up.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I  had v 2.0 working fine...  I downloade the v3.0   "lela-3.11.9139.94.exe"    and when the install is at the "installing JRE   it hangs.. and never ends.  I am using XP professional with latest fixes.. I tried to clear the reistry, Tried install 5 times, Allway tops at JRE..  Also installed latest SUN JRE..  I have no idea what i wrong..  Must be a bug in the install..
    Any suggestion?

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it. If you have not done this since the last firmware upgrade, please do this now.
If you need more help, you will need to tell us more details of your problems.
Please state the model and version of your router.
Please state the make and exact model number of your modem.
    Please state your ISP.
Also, describe exactly what is happening on your network when your system disconnects. Are all computers disconnected from the Intenet? Or only the wireless computers? What is running on the computers when your system crashes? a game? P2P software? other?
Also, please connect your computer directly to your modem. Verify that you can get a working Internet connection, then do the following:
Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig /all" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Post your results.
