WRT54G - Can't obtain an IP Address on ISP Side of Router Nor Does Statically Assigned Work

For some reason I can no longer recieve or statically assign an IP Address to the Internet side of the router (ISP).  The workgroup side of the router is able to provide dhcp to the clients wired and wireless.  When I statically map the Internet side, the clients still can not get out to the internet.  When I use dhcp, the linksys router always 0's out the entrys. I have tried multiple home networks same problem.  I took the exact model and hooked it up and it works fine.  Flashed the bios, reset unit back to defaults using the admin console and push pin on the back.  Anyone else seen this?

Go to the subtab MAC ADDRESS CLONE on the router's Setup page then clone the MAC address of your working computer on it.... save the settings then turn off your router....turn it on after 30 secs...wait for the lights to become stable then try getting online afterwards....

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • WRT54GS - can't obtain IP from my ISP

    Recently I purchased a WRT54GS ver. 6. Currently, I have a Linksys BEFSR41 4-port router. Basically I'm making the switch to wireless.
The BEFSR41 works like a charm, no problems at all. However, for the life of me, I cannot get the WRT54GS to work.
    Here's the problem:
    Specs:
Main PC: WinXP - using ethernet cables (wired), standard setup - DHCP, no static IPs, nothing crazy.
ISP: Road Runner (Time Warner Cable)
I have my main PC connected to the GS on port 1. The GS, in turn, is connected to my cable modem via the Internet port. When turned on, the Power, WLAN, Port 1, and Internet lights are all on. I can connect to the router from my computer via 192.168.1.1.
However, the router cannot obtain an IP - its IP stays at 0.0.0.0. I've tried renewing the IP from the router's website to no avail. I've also tried MAC cloning (however my ISP has said that it does not limit connectivity by MAC address).
On the cable modem, my cable and power lights are on, however the PC and data lights stay completely off. It's like the wireless router never even touches the modem. When I swap out the GS for the old BEFSR41 router and connect the cables exactly the same way, the cable modem's PC and data lights immediately come back on.
I've done the whole power off, disconnect, power on cycling thing, and I've also upgraded the firmware to the GS's most recent.
Any ideas? I'm ready to return the dang thing.

Disconnect all your cables from the router with your computer turned off.
Disconnect power cable from your modem (keep the ethernet cable plugged in to your PC and to your modem). Reconnect all cables to the router, power cable last. THEN reconnect the power cable to the modem. Check the lights on the modem. Allow the modem to recycle itself. Then check its lights. THEN power on your computer. DO NOT disable your internet security.
Then go to 192.168.1.1 page and go thru your setup. Be sure that you check DHCP auto. Be sure you have the correct time zone. You should now be able to connect to internet. I take it you have just the single wired computer? You should be connected thru the router to the modem to the internet as soon as you open a browser. If you are obtaining IP auto, then i don't think you need to know your IP. I just spent 4 days screwing around with my wired PC, wireless notebook and my WRT54GS router. Somehow the wireless connection got knocked off line. Then after three days I could connect wirelessly but got dropped after 30-40 seconds and reconnected, dropped, etc. Could not open a browser on the wireless. All Ok now...note the time. Been up all night. Good luck!

  • Clients can not obtain an ip-address via DHCP.

HI all, I would like to share one problem with WLC 5508 .
we added a new virtual interface on the WLC. One new SSID is associated with this interface.
We created a ACL for this interface to restrict the access via WIFI to certian services.
The following services are allowed on this ACL:
    TCP-Traffic for HTTPS
    UDP-Traffic for DNS
    UDP-Traffic for DHCP
    TCP-Traffic for HTTP
    ICMP-Traffic
    TCP-Traffic for CITRIX
The Problem is, as soon as we add a new service to this ACL, we need to reboot the Controller because the Clients which are working over WIFI do not get a IP-Address assigned via DHCP.
It´s not correct that everything works fine because the change were not applied.
The changes of the ACL are applied on the fly, but for reason we don´t know, the clients don´t get a DHCP IP-Address (after changing the ACL) until the Controller is rebooted.
I am attaching configruation from affected wlc
    thank you

If shop is coming from a server on the LAN you need to add DHCP as a port they can reach.

  • Can I use 2 ip addresses for 1 host in route.cfg?

Hi experts. I need to send encrypted e-mail to another domain. The mail server they list in DNS does not support encryption so I need to send to a different server there that does. They gave me 2 ip addresses - can I list them both for a domain in route.cfg? Something like this -
    joeblow.com [1.2.3.4] [1.2.3.5]
    Or...
    joeblow.com [1.2.3.4]
    joeblow.com [1.2.3.5]
    Thanks.

I don't think so, no, although probably nobody ever tried it.
The only option I could think of is setting up their domain in your own
DNS server and define two mx records there. A tad nasty, but doable.

  • WRT54G Can't play on xbox live and connect wirelessly to router or internet from comp at same time

    Hi guys.
I have a WRT54G and since I have had it I havent been able to connect wirelessly to see my router or get online form my comp while my xbox 360 is on xbox live. My other computer though, which is wired, can connect online anytime wether the xbox 360 is on line or not. Any help would be nice.

I have a similar problem to this. I do some online gaming, and while my roommates are playing XBOX live (which is a lot now that halo 3 came out) I cant even connect, and if i do connect i get such a high latency it is unplayable. I would also greatly appreciate any help on this issue.

  • HT201210 Can anyone tell me exactly what Error 23 is?! WHY does Apple assign an error # but then NOT explain what that is?! I'm trying to restore an iPhone 3G. Please help! Thx.

I CANNOT restore my iPhone, so now I'm stuck with a useless iPhone because I can't complete Restore - because Error 23 keeps coming up! Ugh...it bugs the heck out of me, that Apple assigns an error number without explaining (a) what that IS, (b) taking or redirecting to a SPECIFIC troubleshoot page for THAT error. I've wasted lots of time doing all the stuff already suggested but Error 23 persists! Please help or I've just lost my lovely old-design 3G, which I really am loathe to give up for one of those ugly new boxy too-long slim things... (Which cost $200, 2 boot!)

Thx BUT =as-said, I've tried ALL the suggestions - including reading through the link you just suggested/posted (but just for good measure, i've just re-read thru it again!). I noticed from this list the first time i read thru it, that Error 23 didn't appear anywhere on this list of various (numerous!) error numbers. So/ergo, i still don't know (a) what exactly this error IS, (b) how to fix/get past/resolve it.
I don't have an Apple store anywhere near me. Even if I did, I wonder whether they would (a) be willing to (b) able to fix it @ the so-called Genius bar? Any thoughts on this? (Obviously, if there were an Apple store nearby, I'd go there & try; as-is, it would entail an extra trip & an expense costing as much as buying a new iPhone!)

  • Can I use an unlocked iphone 4s from USA in Spain? Does it gonna work with a different frequency?

I want a iphone 4s unlocked. Can I buy it on the United States and use on Spain? I listened that the frequency is different on this countries, and that the phone may doesn't work. I want to know it.
    Thank you so much

The iPhone 4S will certainly work in Spain, even if purchased in the US.  Keep in mind, however, that warranty service is limited to the country of purchase.  Youll have to send your phone to someone in the US to bring into Apple if your phone needs warranty service.
In addition, there is VERY limited availbility of the unlocked iPhone 4S in US Apple stores, if they're even available at all.  At this point, they're really only available online directly from the Apple Store

  • How can I get the MAC address

My machine has two NIC's. I need to add another network interface, however when I do so it gets assigned to the same MAC address as the interface in use. Why is that and how can I determine the MAC address of the other card to be able to assign it to the new interface?
    thanks

If necessary, change the value of local-mac-address? as follows:
    eeprom local-mac-address?=true
When you reboot the system, the interfaces with factory-installed MAC addresses now use these factory settings, rather than the system-wide MAC address. Interfaces without factory-set MAC addresses continue to use the system-wide MAC address.

  • Can't get an IP address from my Linksys WRT54G?

    Hi,
I've been using this router for a few years now without much problems but  now for the last few days I have been unable to access the Internet from my WiFi remote PC.
There is a strong signal reaching the PC but it can't get an IP address?
I've reconfigured the router a few times now and made sure the remote PC is configured right but I keep getting this result:
"Can not acquire an IP address."
Can anyone help me with this?  What is happening here and how to I fix it?  Thank you.

Delete the wireless profiles you have in windows then try to connect again. Do you get internet access when connected directly to the router?

  • WRT54G can ping internet, but connected devices cannot.

When I do a factory reset of our WRT54G router and configure it for our setup, everything works fine for a while (undetermined, random amount of time). We use it primarily for wireless access, and connect an iphone, ipad, mac, pc devices to it with no problem and can access the internet fine.
After some period of time, all devices can still connect to the WRT54G via wireless, but cannot access the internet either by browser or ping/tracert commands. Meanwhile, the WRT54G diagnostics can successfully perform pings and tracerts to both IP address and URLs (so DNS *is* working fine)
I connected a computer to the WRT54G via cat5 cable while the wireless devices could not access the internet, and the wired computer could *not* access the internet either. However, from the admin section of the WRT54G we could ping/tracert with no problems.
Any ideas what causes this to drop and what we can do (other than factory reset) to fix it, and perhaps to prevent it?
    ..Rick..

This isn't a home setup.  My wrt54G is connected to a DMZ switch which is connected to our gateway router and then out to the 100mpbs pipe.
All of our LAN is working fine, and as I mentioned in the original post, the WRT54G can always ping an external site (both via URL and IP address), as well as being able to do a traceroute.
When the connected devices can no longer get to the internet through the router, the router can still do the pings and traceroutes, so I conclude that there is no interruption in internet service. It stops at the WRT54G.  It always accepts wireless connections.

  • How to obtain GPIB my address

    All,
Does anyone know how to obtain the GPIB controller address of the GPIB0,
GPIB1, etc using a VISA function? I know the default address value is 0 in
NI and 21 in Agilent, but this value can be changed by the user and the
assumption should not be applied in app.

The attribute VI_ATTR_RSRC_NAME should give you the interface address and type.
