WRT54G Delete Port Forwarding Entries

I have a WRT54G v5 with the latest firmware upgrade.
While updating my network I decided to delete old entries from the port forwarding table. Every time I try to delete a port entry or the IP address the error checking routines warn me that a blank entry is out of range then replace it with the old entry. This error check does not depend on the Enable check.
I CAN overwrite the old entries with new and things work OK but I would just like to delete old entries. I have searched the forums here and cannot seem to find anything related to this problem. This is probable trivial since disabling the entry works but I would just like to have the table cleared.
I have NOT reset the router yet although I'm sure that would work.
Thank you
Carmine Prestia

Hi,
Have you tried leaving the box with the number "0", instead of leaving it "blank", then save the settings?
*just a thought*
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift.

Can anyone explain the color coding for the text field backgrounds under the "Port Forwarding" section?
I have severally seemingly normal port forwarding entries with green backgrounds, and then one entry whose text fields are all backed in yellow.
My assumption is that the 'yellow' entry is not working correctly.

normally there is no colour coding involved in Port Forwarding....may be what you are thinking is correct....

If it's the new Actiontec rev I you are quite correct - there is no apparent way to edit PF rules -  totally user unfriendly

  • Linksys WRT54G, iChat & port forwarding...

I changed a lot of the port forwarding settings on my router so that iChat AV would work nicely. Problem is, these commands took up all of the room in the list, and I'm hoping to play around with these settings a little more to get some extra juice out of some online gaming... Can I condense the iChat port forwarding commands into one command, opening all those ports for both instead of just TCP or UDP? Say, from 5060 to 5678, all open for 'both'?
Thanks for your help, in advance. I realise the better solution would be to buy a router that doesn't make me want to throw it out of a window...

    Hi rodstrout,
If you do not use Bonjour as you do not have another Mac take out 5297, 5298 and 5353 for the TCP AND UDP settings they have (save four lines)
If not using Jabber delete 5220, 5222 and 5223 on the TCP setting (or change this to 5220-5223 as it is only 4 ports)
Setting UPnP if you have it does change it to a Once only ON/Off setting without any typing of ports.
If you do not have this look for Port Triggering (Special Applications) as this can open the ports in less lines.
Depending how the ports can be listed the main iChat AV ports can be done in one or two lines.
    On some it can be:
Trigger port 5678 on UDP to open 5060,5678,16384-16403 (no spaces) on UDP
ON others it is two lines
trigger 5678 on UDP to trigger 5060 on UDP
Trigger 5060 on UDP to trigger 16384-16403 on UDP
In both cases the Login port of 5190 needs to be a TCP trigger to Both protocols (UDP and TCP) but still on port 5190.
The Jabber and Bonjour ports are also added as single ports.

  • WRT54G v6 Port Forwarding Fails

Replaced a dead WRT54G v1.1 witrh a much newer unused v6, and it works fine, except the same settings for port forwarding, for smtp, port 2525, for pop3, port 995, to my mailserver at static address 192.168.1.104, do not seem to work.
That is, no mail. Outlook says it can see the mailserver, but no response.
A lot of new settings on the v6, not sure what they all are. Like Port Triggering for a forwarded range.  ???
Are there some other settings that need changing, too?  Help!

The only change you need to do is the static IP Address...It should be 192.168.1.20(it should be out of the range of the router's DHCP)...

  • WRT54G V5 Port Forwarding Configuration Loss

    Hi All...
Having a strange issue with my router item listed above. I go into the router and forward a list of about 12 ports for online gaming (in order to improve my NAT to "open"). Everything works fine for about ten minutes and then my NAT goes from Open to Moderate, which presents a whole slew of issues (bans you from certain servers, inhibits the use of voice with certain users on xbox 360 etc etc). A moderate NAT is bad for 360.
So... I go into my router to check that the settings are there and they indeed are and using a diagnostic tool shows the ports are no longer open. So... apparently the linksys box has altered the configuration somehow that is not present in the GUI. If I save the settings again it does not reopen the ports so I am forced to restore the configuration file I created just after making the port forwards for the first time.
So... The box reboots and the ports open back up... until about ten minutes pass and the ports close down once again. So in a nutshell, the configuration of my router is changing on its own and I don't know how to stop it. (Its alive!!!! hahha).
Does anyone out there have any experience with this or the technical knowledge to assist? Linksys tech support and xbox tech support has been..... well.... not so helpful.
Thank you for your time (sorry for the long post!)
    Brad G.

well.....change the MTU settings to 1365 and enable DMZ instead of port forwarding.....ensure that the x-box has a static ip add and dns address....
also, check the firmware on the router...if it is below v 1.01.1 , upgrade the firmware on the router...reset the router and reconfigure then

  • Port Forwarding Persists After Deleting Entry/Reboot

I had ports 80 and 8080 forwarded to my file server that is static @ 192.168.1.51 for a brief time.    I removed the entries in my airport extreme.  It restarted and came up green.  The file server has a software firewall that was turned on over the weekend.   I received flags that inbound requests on 80 and 8080 were being rejected.
Confused, I looked at the port forwarding settings in the airport extreme and the entries were gone.   I then power cycled the airport.   The inbound request alerts continued on 192.168.1.52
If the port forwarding entry was removed, I wouldn't expect the server to see any more inbound requests.   This is confusing me.    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jerold

I havent't had any responses so I am going to document my steps here.   Maybe someone else will benefit.
I ran shields up (https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2) to see if the ports were open and they all showed stealth except for port 21.   I did not have port 21 forwarded, but did at one time.   It acts like the airport extreme is not writing/updating the port forwarding table as it is changed.    Ports 80 and 8080 were stealth.    The file surver had upnp on, so I turned that off, but the airport still seems to pass incoming requests to the file server.   They are not responded to, but I get email alerts about the intrusion attempt.
I thought the router was supposed to block these incoming requests.   Why would it be forwarding it to the internal ip and alerting the file server firewall?

  • EA4500 Max number of Port forwards

    Hi All,
Background: currently have a WRT320N, thinking of upgrading to an EA4500 assuming ONE feature has been improved: Port Forwarding.
Scenario: Currently I have a WRT320N router, and while it "does everything we need" it has one limitation that is now getting in the way: limitation on number of forwardable ports.  In the port forwarding panel, it has 15 total rows: the first five rows can be enabled for specificaly named services (SMTP, FTP, etc).  The last 10 rows are fully customizable in that we can set the name, ports and protocol.
The problem is that of the 13 total ports I currently need to forward, only ONE of them is listed in that fixed list.  So, sadly, I can only use one of those first five rows.  I've now filled the remaining ten custom rows, and still have need for two additional ports (for now, may need more down the road).
Trying to get creative, I figured maybe I could just spill over to the Port Range Forwarding page and add a row or two there.  The only problem: it's buggy.  I've found that if the Single Port Forwarding list is filled, then the Port Forwarding Range entries don't work properly.  For example, if I wanted ports 12345 and 12346 forwarded to 192.168.1.5, they work fine with two single port forwarding entries.  However, if I delete those, add two other port lines I need forwarded (the single list being full again), and add a port forwarding range 12345..12346, they don't work properly, ports just are closed. Only the singles work, the ranges don't.
Question: Has the EA4500 resolved this issue and allow for either more lines (i.e. 20 customizable entries instead of 10), or, better, does it just have an [Add Entry] button to allow for additional rows to be created?  In today's day and age, where one single device (such as an Xbox) can take four rows, a 10-row limit is pretty sparse.  Comparing it to some competitors, for example the D-Link DIR-825 (aging, but still great) allows you to add as many as you want.
I realize "expensive" firewalls like SonicWall's have virtually unlimited customization, but I don't need many of the additional features and don't want to spend $350 on a "high-end" firewall to solve the problem of needing two more ports open.
Thanks to any help you can give!
    -Dan

  • HH3 Type B port forwarding not working.

    Hi there.
I have searched absolutely everywhere for a solution to my problem before posting here. Basically port forwarding isn't working at all on my HH3 Type B router.
I've read all about the problems people have had with the Type A's but as far as I see nobody seems to have a problem with the Type B in regards to port forwarding or loopback.
I've set up port fowarding on many different routers with many different ISP's so I don't think it's something I'm doing, or rather, not doing but you never know.
These are the steps I take when setting up port forwarding:
Firstly setting up my static IP (obviously only needed to be done once) which I've chosen one outside of the routers DHCP range as I've always done in the past. Then I open the router screen, go to Settings / Advanced Settings / Port Forwarding / Supported Applications and click "Add new game or application".
I then enter a name, change "Copy existing game or application" to "No", and then change the "Protocol" to UDP or TCP as needed (also have tried using "Any" too with no luck). Next add a "Port Range" for example 12345 - 12345 then add "Translate To" 12345 - 12345 (port ranges obtained from portforward.com per application) then click "Add" and repeat for additional ports as needed.
Once that is all done, click "Apply" then go to Port Forwarding / Configuration or go to Home Network, select the applicable device and choose the newly added application from the "Port Forwarding" drop down list (and choose applicable device if doing it from Port Forwarding / Configuration). Click "Add" once application is selected.
Add additional applications where needed then finally click "Apply" to store the forwarded ports.
Close router page and port forwarding should be fully setup and working.
That's basically how I would do it anyway, but I also checked on portforward.com and it says pretty much the same and on these forums as well as a few other sites and I see nothing different but port forwarding still isn't working.
In my router "Event Log" it does show "The Port Forwarding entry of [xxx.xxx.x.xx] has been added or modified.".
My Firmware version is V100R001C01B036SP03_L_B. Last updated 19/05/13.
I have no firewall on my pc and the one enabled on the router is set to default but have also tried disabling it. Have tried enabling DMZ as suggested in various places with no luck and have tried changing UPnP settings again with no luck.
So if anybody has any suggestions I am all ears because this is bugging me so much as there are a few applications and games that require port forwarding and are pretty useless without it really.
    Thank you.

If you follow the instructions on this page, it should work. Please see note about CG-NAT.

  • BT HomeHub 5 Port forwarding to 2 PCs

I have two PCs set up with TightVNC server and can access them both perfectly.  One is on <ipaddress>:ort 5900 and the other on <ipaddress>prt 5901.  I have also set up port forwarding so I can access one PC via the internet using no-ip to handle the ddns.  To set this up I selected the application VNC and linked it to the PC.  This works well and remote TightVNC client can log into the TightVNC server on that PC.   The problem is that I have two PCs running TightVNCserver and I need to remotely log into either or both simultaneously but I cannot set up another port forwarding entry as VNC is in use and removed from the list of applications.
Is there any way to set up port forwarding to two PCs with different port numbers?
    Thanks

Without getting my HH out of the cupboard to check, is there not an 'other' application that you can assign the port to? Surely the name is just a label it doesn't have to be called VNC.
Edit: Found this http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/46548/~/how-to-set-up-game-and-application-sharing%2F... click 'no' at step 3 of the second set of instructions.

  • Airport Extreme Simultaneous Dual-Band port forwarding broken if only TCP ports with firmware 7.6.1

When configuring my Airport Extreme Simultaneous Dual-Band router, port forwarding is broken if you only specify TCP ports to forward. This is with firmware 7.6.1. What happens is that after you hit the Update button, when the router comes back and you open the port forwarding entry, the IP is still there but the port numbers are missing.
I tried all different port numbers and ranges and nothing would stick if i only specified TCP ports. If i added UDP ports with the TCP ports then it would save them. And if you add a new entry with only UDP it saves them too.
Now this is with adding a new port forwarding. I already have existing ports being forwarded that only have TCP. They are still working. I believe i added them with a previous version of the firmware.
Any one else see this issue? Any ideas?
Maybe i should perform a hard reset and reload a saved config.
    Peace,
    Dan

I haven't seen the issue but you could just downgrade to an earlier firmware:

  • VNC - Port Forwarding

    RealVNC 5900 5900 192.168.1.2
    RealVNC2 5800 5800 192.168.1.2
However, when I try to connect to my PC from my office PC, nothing happens. I'm using my Router's IP address in the VNC program and click OK, but it never connects (no request for password). I can VNC to my work PC from my home PC.
    Any ideas?????

Im having the same problem. Using vnc, I get no prompt to enter password. I did like "quack" said, I went to http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner. After running test on port 5900, I was told that my port is not responding. Anyone know what this is all about? This is my 4th attempt at vnc in the past two years and it's just driving me nuts that I cannot do this.
PS: I am only able to use my vnc viewer internally by entering the local computers IP address (192.168...) but it always fails when entering the main ip address that I would use remotely (outside of building)
PS: I am able to remotely view my friends computer, and he uses a cheapo no name router, all our settings are identical.

  • Airport Extreme removes port forward settings every reboot

I have set up various port forward settings on my Airport Extreme from OS X Server. However, every time I reboot the Airport, all port forward settings are lost except Contacts, Calendars, and DNS. It gets very troublesome to constantly readd all my settings in there. Port forwards are the only settings that are lost.
    Please help!

I found the issue – and it's fairly simple and obviously really.  I'm guessing you were adding the ports from OS X Server in the order they are listed within Server.app (where they are listed in alphabetical order).  After Calendar, Contacts and DNS is "File Sharing".
If this is enabled, whilst File Sharing is enabled on the AirPort Extreme, the port forwarding entry for File Sharing, and anything below is removed.
Simply disable "File Sharing" from AirPort Utility before continuing (as recommended by Server.app when setting up the service for File Sharing).
I understand you replaced your AE and no longer have the issue – I thought I'd leave the explanation should others encounter it.
