WRT54G does not allow wireless connections

I installed a WRT54G V8 for my neighbor. After much pain and fights with the wizards I got it to where it works with wired computers. I set up the wireless and named it, selected security, recorded the Key, even had the wizard record the computer setup program on a USB drive.
The two wireless computers I have tried can both see the network but clicking connect does not get me the enter key window. Actually nothing happens after showing connecting for about a minute. I tried the setup program and it said it could not set up the computer. I tried setting up the parameters manually and then connecting nothing happens.
But the routers DHCP table shows the names of the two wireless computers as being connected.
Some time when I try to connect (with manual entered data) the network page will show "Not Connected" over the top of the network name. But the button at the bottom of the page has switched from "Connect" to "Disconnect" and the machine is in the DHCP table.
Any suggestions?

I am using XP SP2 on both of the wireless computers and I am using the default windows client. In the wireless networks tab is where we tried setting up the network manually. Are you saying that with a WRT54G I can have only one wireless network installed on the machines?
I will try it on one of the machines this afternoon when I go over to try again to get it to work.
Why is this so hard!??!
Hi greyhair ,
Ridcully did provide some good information.
The wireless network tab .
for that ,
strt>control panel>network connections or (network and internet connections) icon> network connections
Right click on the wireless network connection listed
go to properties ,
here you will find three tabs - general >wireless networks>advanced
you need to click on Wireless network
and remove preffered networks from the network list (even yours )!
and click ok !
and again , right click on wireless network connection > go to View aivialable wireless networks ....try connecting to your network by first clicking (highlighting)
on the network name , and then click connect.
any problem , feel free to ask here.

  • WRVS4400N does not allow wireless connections

I've had the WRVS4400N for about six months. Three times in the past two months I have had to factory reset the device and reconfigure it because it would not allow any wireless connections. Perhaps unfortunately I applied the latest firmware update about a month before these problems began. Is there any work-around or setting change that I can make to avoid this problem? When wireless connections are impossible the device is still reachable via the ethernet connection.

If only the wireless is dorpping on the unit then, most probably a firmware concern. Try reflashing the firmware again if that helps. Also try to change some of the advance wireless settingso nthe router, set the RTS and fragmentation to thresholds to 2306 as well as teh beacon interval to 50.

    Shoeb, hi.
Thanks for replying and apologies for my tardiness in responding. I have just completed a re-creation of my web page using CSS/HTML rather than XML/XSLT and now I find that when saving in MHT format the watermark/background image is saved, which is nice, but trying to save it as 'webpage complete' under 'save as' in the browser still does not work. (For those who are new to Firefox, MHT files are not supported by the browser, but using the FF extention UnMHT one can open such files and save web documents as MHT files, meaning no accompanying folder is required to properly view the file.)

My daughter has a new laptop which has wireless connection to my Hub. According to her laptop it is connected to my Hub and she has access to the internet.
However, my Hub Manager does not show her as connected to the Hub. The result of this means that she cannot connect to the wireless printer.
We have disconnected and re connected to no avail.

  • Compaq Presario CQ61-424SA Laptop - eSATA/USB combo port does not allow eSATA connection

    Hi,
I recently purchased an external HDD with eSATA connection for use with my Compaq Presario CQ61-424SA laptop.
The specification on the laptop states it has a eSATA/USB combo port however there doesn't appear to be one. On closer inspection there is 2 USB ports on the right hand side of the laptop (which work fine with USB devices) and one on the left which is slightly wider than the other 2 (which also works fine with USB devices). However when trying to connect an eSATA cable to the port it does not fit and on closer inspection it does not look like the conventional eSATA/USB combo ports.
Does anyone know if this laptop was spec'd incorrectly or does indeed have an eSATA/USB combo port.
The cable I'm using was supplied with the external HDD I brought with connections as shown in this link.. http://www.comesource.com/storeweb/images/cable%20esata%20to%20esata.jpg
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I am having the same problem with the "e-sata/usb shared port" , which does not look like a normal e-sata port, and the e-sata connector won't fit in it.
    Can anybody help us?

  • 11i does not allow incoming connections (sqlplus)

I just installed Oracle EBS 11i on RHEL AS4. I have a laptop(windows running oracle client tools) that I use to connect all my oracle-db instances. However, my newly installed apps 11i won't let me connect using sqlplus or any other client from my laptop (or any other client machine for that matter). Again, I am trying to access the tables not the forms interface using jinitiator. Here is the error message I keep getting: "TNS 12537 Connection closed"
I see that discoverer related processes started when I started the apps. Is there a discoverer admin console that I can use? Also can I install discoverer plus or discoverer desktop to connect to the descoverer running on the apps server? Can I view the existing Discoverer reports using a browser?

Thanks for your reply. My SQLnet access option is set to "ALLOW_ALL" and I was still not able to connect. That is why I manually added a line to "sqlnet.ora" file. I bounced the listner and now it is allowing the connections from client machines.
I am able to see the discoverer reports using the "Discoverer Viewer 4i" that comes with the EBS. I want to set up new reports or edit the existing ones. Do I do this using any interface provided by EBS or do I have to use the discoverer desctop or discoverer plus on a seperate client machine? Also, how do I access the discoverer admin that comes with EBS?
    Thanks!

  • Laserjet p1102w does not maintain wireless connection with macbook pro

Above product was set up and working.  If it sits idle for awhile it does not print.  I have to click on WiFi signal, select hpsetup, then after that is complete reselect my network and then it prints.  Printed self test page - device is 'connected'.  Running OS 10.7.3

Yes.  I had troubles getting it to work originally and I had to talk to someone at HP who helped me with it.  We ended up setting it up manually and it worked fine; but if I don't use it for awhile it will not print.  Actually that is not entirely true.  Once in awhile it will - about 10% - but most of the time it will not unless I do the above.

  • WRT54G2 does not allow simultanious connections

Subject line covers it pretty well. Two wired desktops, one with Vista and the other with XPsp2, cannot connect at the same time. When I try to connect the one without, the other loses it connection. Once both have no connection, I have to run the "network magic" program and use it's "troubleshoot connection" button on the computer that I want internet on. After it runs, said computer not has internet. Router has the latest firmware.

Re-adjust the wireless settings of your router:
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1300 and click Save Settings...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Set the Wireless channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Airport Express does not allow ethernet connection to internet

I use my Airport Express to stream music to my speakers from iTunes, but I find that I cannot access the Internet via the ethernet modem connection. What is the deal?

Hello Stonegroove. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
In order to use the Ethernet port on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to access the Internet, the AX would have to be configured as part of a Wireless Distribution System (WDS).

  • Acrobat does not allow connection to

Need help with this error message please.  Using Win7, saved a Word 2010 table of contents with multiple links to pdf files across internal servers as a PDF.  Also created the word doc w/multiple pdf links as a PDF file using acrobat9 standard and have same problems.   when a user with Adobe Reader 8+ clicks on a pdf link in the PDF table of contents file, they get an error message Acrobat does not allow connection to:   and they cannot open the linked file.  However, I am able to open the files using the same links with both reader and acrobat.
This worked previously until we upgraded to these versions of software... the error message shows a number of % signs and multiple ////.  However, i can open the fiile but others cannot.
anyone have any ideas or is this a fix that i need to download?

not sure where my previous reply went; however, there are numerous machines at varuious sites that will be accessing this server/folder.  I am not sure if it is a trusted sites issue as the file lists numerous PDF links and some of them open to the respective pdf file and others recieve the mssage.  All the files reside on the same server within the same main folder and within subfolders.  never had the problem before.  the users can open some of the linked files and others the connection msg appears.  I however, am able to open the same links they get the error on.  I am totally baffled by this and have been troubleshooting for weeks now.  I just had acrobat X installed to see if that would help but still problem.  I also saved the word doc (2010) as pdf (which lists the links to the other pdfs) but users still have same problem.  there are approx 75 links within this doc and I truly hope we don't have to relink everything..

  • JMS Adapter (for DI) does not allow passing username and password to JMS connection

    Post Author: PLed76
    CA Forum: Data Integration
JMS Adapter (for DI) does not allow passing username and password to JMS connection. It has those fields only for MSMQ. Our Production environment does not allow us to connect to JMS (we use Tibco EMS) anonymously, so it prevents us from use of Data Integrator. Is there any way to pass those params, or obtain the correct version of JMS Adapter, or obtain source codes of the JMS Adapter so we can correct them ourselves (we can send you the corrected sources back) ? Thanks in advance for any help. (PL)ed76 Renaissance Capital

Bump - Were having the same issue.
Has anyone found a way to connect to Tibco with a user/pwd?

  • Submit PDF Form by Email (does not allow connection)

It's been sometime since I have created a PDF which included a "Submit by Email" button.  I opened the original form and changed the email addresses, saved it, then opened it in Reader.  Whenever I try to submit it by email a "Security Block" window pops up stating "Acrobat does not allow connection to:"  I have tried to call and pay for support but get the run around.  I've searched the web and only found where I need to "Extend the Rights to Reader" which I did to no avail.  I've even rebuilt the form from scratch...nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks....

I created the form first in Microsoft Word, then "printed" it to create a PDF.  I then use Acrobat to create a bunch of fields, and set the form for distribution.
When the user completes the form in Acrobat, and clicks on the "Submit" button, an email is created with the form as an attachment, and the body of the message is this:
Instructions to add this form to a responses file:
    1. Double-click the attachment.
    2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.
Those are the instructions I was referring to.  The question is, is there any way to change or eliminate those instructions?

  • ERecruiting - Data Overview - "Acrobat does not allow connection to..."

    Hello gurus,
    how is it going?
I'm facing one strange problem in eRecruiting.
We've got customized smartforms for Candidate and Requisition overview.
On Candidate overview we've got part, where URL links of assigned requisitions are shown.
By opening these links, it should open Requisition overview page.
But when I want to open this link, I'm getting popup window, where is written:
"Acrobat Does not allow connection to..."
I've got Acrobat Reader X, I've updated "Trust manager" and "Security (Enhanced)" also in Page preferences.
    But still facing this error.
Could you advice me, how I can solve it?
I've already read many pages on google, but still nothing....
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards, Luke.

    Hi,
    first I have a question:
You say you have the Candidate Overview Smartforms containing links to a requisition Smartforms?
So this is a custom development isn't it?
Is the Adobe Acrobat opening within a Browser window or as a dedicated programme?
If Adobe is opened separately please check, that the Browser Integration of Adobe is active within Adobe's settings.
Links within Smartforms are relative links in general and therefore just working when called in-browser.
    Best regards
    Sebastian
