WRT54G firmware update, blocks some sites.

We recently updated the firmware on our router. Since then all three computers can no longer go to the CNN website. It just so happens we have this site as our home page on all three machines. These are running Windows XP. Can anyone shed some light on what to look for or do? Thanks.

After the Firmware Upgrade you must reset the router to factory defaults and then re-configure it...Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...Check if you can access CNN...

  • Flash Player update blocking some folders/photos upload?

Why is the latest Flash Player update blocking some folders from view in my laptop's photo library when I attempt to upload a photo to a website (ie FaceBook, Yahoo email, ect)?  I'm using Windows 7 and IE 10.0.4

When I attempt to upload a photo onto Facebook or an email (for example). I click on attach/upload and click on my Photo Library, but not all of my folders are showing up, so I can't upload those photos. Although if I open up my Photo Library directly on my laptop the folders can be seen and accessed.  Prior to updating my Adobe Flash Player this was never a issue.

  • WRT54GS firmware update

    Hi
I just updated my WRT54GS v2.1 from firmware v4.50.6 to v4.71.4 (yes, I'm not what they call the most careful network admin in my house), and I noticed 2 slight changes, I'd like you to confirm:
    1) On Setup tab, Basic setup page, I remember from previous version what was specified on Router name would be shown on "Connect to 192.168.1.1" login window, e.g. "The server 192.168.1.1 in ROUTERNAME requires a user name and password". After firmware update , it shows WRT54GS, ignoring what's I specified in Router name field. Is it same to you?
    2) On Status tab, Router page, it says "Current time: Not available". Help says "This shows the time, as you set on the Setup Tab". Setup tab only shows time zone setup though... I don't recall if it was available there in previous firmware version, but where is the clock adjust function?
    Thank you!

After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
On the setup tab, you will find the Time settings.

  • Lip Sync Problem AFTER LG Firmware Update on some HD Channels

I have an LG HDTV, model number 47LH90, and I'm experiencing lip sync issues even after they gave me a firmware update to solve the problem.
I've noticed the problem appears to be most prevalent on the History HD channel.  Most other channels seem fine now following the firmware update from LG.  Any reason why this is  happening?  I have a couple thoughts to add for Verizon personnel:
    1) The Motorola STB/DVR I have from Verizon let's me choose my output as 720p, 1080i, etc.  It would be nice if it would also allow a pass-through option to just be whatever input the feed is.  For example, sometimes I wonder if this issue is because the DVR is trying to take 1080i input to the STB and convert it to 720p output to the TV, which somehow changes data lengths and results in some lip sync issue.
    2) I have a PlayStation3 that I bought to use mainly as a Blu-Ray player.  The PlayStation Audio/Video to my TV using the HDMI cable works great, with no lip sync on Blu Rays, Hulu, games, etc.  I know this lip sync is sometimes more prevalent on LG TV's, but it would seem to me that if PlayStation's can produce lip sync-free content, surely FIOS can too.  Perhaps they could upgrade their hardware and use the latest standards.
    3) I'm using the same make/quality/length HDMI cables on my PlayStation3 and STB, HDMI 1.3a.
I would love to see some updates that address this issue as soon as possible.

We frequently have a similar/same problem but do not have a HDTV or programming. We have a  QIP6416-2 hooked up to a 12 year old Sony large screen TV (we won't buy a HDTV until Verizon gets a better, higher capacity DVR or until out contract is up and we can move on).  Often when we are watching a taped show (we tape almost everything) the sound and picture will get out of sync.  Think bad Japanese movie!  It makes me crazy as I read lips but my husband, although bothered, doesn't want to kill the DVR after a few minutes. We have found, by trial and error, that if we exit the show and then resume play the sound and picture return to normal. It also happens when we rewind on a currently playing show.  It happens almost every time I rewind a long ways (I do this when I watch 2 shows at once).  It is harder to get back in sync when this happens but it sometimes works if I watch and jump forward to be close to live and then jump between shows and only have to rewind a short ways.  I used to routinely watch 2 shows at once but now the aggravation factor makes me either tape everything or just not watch some shows I like.  I posted to let you know that it may not be the LG update and may be the DVR.  Try out my tricks when it happens, and if they work, I would blame the DVR.
Thanks for the suggestion.  My problem actually seems to go away when the show is recorded versus live, at least sometimes, but not always.  Although, I've found that stopping playback, then resuming, or similar behavior can help the problem as well.  I just want my TV to work without having to throw salt over my shoulder.

  • Tsclient drive redirection fails after wrt54g firmware update

Recently updated firmware on WRT54g wireless router. Ever since am unable to redirect drives in rdp client session to 2003TS. The drives show up as "system folder" on the server, no drive letters visible, not accessible.
This happens with all PC's on my home network. If I shut down my wireless router and poach a neighbors connection using my laptop the drive redirection works as before.
    Any ideas?

Are you able to access the drive before upgrading the firmware ?
If yes, reset the router as it is recommended by Linksys that you should reset and reconfigure the router after resetting .
Press and hold the reset for 30 seconds .
Power cycle the router and modem .
Open the setup page of the router and configure it again .

  • Help! WRT54G Firmware update in .bin format and cannot DL.

As in subject - the firmware DL for the v6 of the WRT54G on the website comes in a .bin and I can't open it.  The 'help' section implies it should be a winzip file?  What should I be using to open this file with?  Thanks
    A

You don't open it.  You upload it from the Upgrade tab in the routers UI.

  • Is there tool to download firmware updates from cisco site?

I need a tool which can tell if there is a newer version of the firmware available for USC servers. The tool should be able to run on Linux servers.
If the tool can download firmware that's like cherry on the cake.

    Hi deshaw,
You may check the Support and Downloads (http://cs.co/9000c2sw). An active Smartnet contract agreement is needed for you to download/upgrade firmwares. Feel free to message me for further assistance. Hope this helps!  :)

  • Problem with text selection on some sites.

    Hello.
With the latest updates on some sites, it became impossible to select text. Example: http://darkside.ru
Before, long press contributed text and suggested ways - copying, select all, etc. Now it cannot be done on darkside.ru. Checked on other browsers, everything works.
Fix please. Don't want to leave FireFox because of this.
It would be cool to make the transition between open tabs by scrolling left/right, like in the Yandex.browser for example.
    Alexey.

Hmm, long pressing on links works on the site, but not on text. I wonder whether they are using some technique to block it? It doesn't seem blocked in Firefox on Windows.
Have you noticed this on any other sites?

  • SSD in MacBook pro - trim? Firmware updates?

I want to put an SSD into my mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13", core i5. I am concerned and confused... while a couple of SSDs I have looked into have rave reviews, what about "trim". Also, do these non-Apple installed SSD drives need frequent firmware updates? I have read so much about trim, yet still can't seem to grasp whether I need to use a "third party" tool to get trim working, or if these drives havew their own, good "garbage collection". It also seems that some have said their driveneed firmware udates, sometimes, after an OS update. Yet, checking vender sites, I have only found some firmware updates for some of their drives, and it was only for Windows users.
    Thanks for any clarity!

I have recently put a Samsung 840 pro SSD in my 13" MBP, and it made it much faster, trim support is not needed on Samsung SSDs as Samsung have there own garbage disposal built, i left it turned of, simply because you would then have 2 pieces of software attempting to serve the same purpose, that being garbage disposal.
Trim enabler would be advantageous on an SSD which has no garbage collection software on it, having said that most modern SSDs come with some form of Garbage disposal.
Firmware updates are avaliable for most SSDs, they can be somewhat problematic on Samsung SSDs as you hav to update via a windows machine, which mean removing the SSD, updating, then placing back in your MBP.
Having said all of that i would still highly recommend the Samsung 840 pro SSD as the speeds are blisteringly fast.
    Hope that helps

  • How do those who don't watch boards find out about firmware updates?

Since 'Software Update' doesn't alert users to firmware updates, I wonder how those that don't monitor these boards and other 'Mac news' sites find out about firmware updates?
Yes, Boot Camp made headline news in many major newspapers and those who wanted to install it found they needed to update the firmware first.
But, had I not read about it elsewhere earlier, I would not have known about the second MBP firmware update (which, apparently, solves some of the 'whine' issues - I've had no whining but I like to keep my firmware, in particular, up to date!).
Just as a note to Apple - you've a database of all who have registered their MPB's (at least those with AppleCare if not those who simply run set-up with new Mac purchases). If firmware updates aren't included in the 'Software Updates' procedure, shooting off an email to those with machines that might be in need of firmware updates may save a world of grief to overworked phone support techs.

Yes, I'm familiar with the support page but my point is that not all (in act, likely very few) are familiar enough with that page to go to "Top Downloads" to find firmware updates.
On page 25 of the MacBook Pro Users Guide, Apple DOES suggest, in the next to the last paragraph, suggest "For support information, user discussion boards, and the latest Apple software downloads, go to www.apple.com/support."
But if a new user is having problems he or she is more likely than not to pick up the phone first - and although there's the 90-day phone support and 3 year phone support for those who purchase AppleCare (which new users may not - particularly if buying from, say, CompUSA or other stores who push 'extended warranties' even with the purchase of products whose manufacturers already provide LIFETIME warranties) Apple has thoughtfully provided automated Software Updates (which Windows switchers understand all too well!) but no automated way to be lead to firmware updates. It's my feeling that if firmware notification were included in SU notifications, or via email, it might reduce the number of phone calls and result in happier computers.
While I enjoy reading all the Mac news on a daily basis, a lot of users don't and there may be an even greater number who don't know the wheat from the chaff (or even know where to find the wheat!).
Some firmware updates are critical, some of minor importance, and some (more and more of late, it seems) just a bit cryptic (for instance, 1.01 says "This firmware update is for (MacBook Pro)/iMac (early 2006) computers with Intel processors only. It now runs on localized systems that use languages that read right to left." and then lists the languages supported - which do not include Hebrew or Arabic, two "languages that read right to left".
The only reason that I brought this up is that there are a number of sites that reported that the firmware update alleviates some of the 'whine' that some MBP users are reporting (and now I am reading of 'hum' issues - forget GarageBand! An hundred MBP's could replace a symphony!). Now is that true or not? Apple doesn't say - some users report yes, some no. And as there are no whine or hum issues on the iMac, I doubt 1.01 would 'solve' any of those problems with that machine (and interesting, too, that the "iMac (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1" isn't in the "Top Downloads" section as is "MacBook Pro (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1": what's up with that? Are there really more MBPs out there than Intel iMacs? Or are MBP owners running Windows in Arabic more than Intel iMac owners? Or just hopeful that the update does, indeed, help with the whine problem.
I keep getting off topic (sort of)...
...my point is that it would be simple to notify, and simpler for (in my opinion), Apple to notify customers of firmware updates.

  • MacBook Pro firmware update after erase & install

    Hi,
I just tried to update from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11 with software update last night and got the error message a lot of people have been experiencing, then, got stuck at the apple logo with the never-ending spinning wheel... well... tried repairing disk, permissions, everything, but didn't work...
Now I reinstalled OS X with the dvd that came with my pro (10.4.6) and I noticed that when I run softwarte update, a specific MacBook Pro firmware update and some battery update didn't show up, does that mean I already have it? because it is firmware, the installation of OS X didn't erase it?
And to all those out there stuck at the boot screen, I'm trying the manual combo update (downloading from apple.com) and will tell if this works (thank god I backed up everything!)

    Good Morning,
To answer your firmware question, yes. Once applied a firmware update is burned into the chip on the device being updated and is not subject to being removed with an operating system, the only way to change that firmware is to update it with something else.
You should be fine that they aren't showing up because, as you said, you already have them. 
    David

  • Can cache apps but not firmware updates

    Hello,
I Currently have 2 mini macs in my work network running mavericks server with caching enabled, now all our users have iPhones and some have iPads running iOS7 as a minimum, all our iDevices are setup to run though our proxy and this works well for reporting traffic, ipads and iphones are able to install apps and update apps with no issues and is cached on the mini macs fine, but my problem is with the firmware updates, for some reason when a iDevice goes to update the update comes down to the device but it it not cached on the macs, is there any reason for this ?

If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.
