WRT54G in Password Loop

Connected to AT&T DSL through a Siemens Speedstream 4100 modem, I started a few months ago with a WKPC54G that lost the connection on a weekly basis, and was very limited in range. In hopes of better performance, I just bought a WRT54G. While trying to set it up, it keeps cycling at step 8 asking for the password. Neither "admin" nor the only other password I have ever used can get past this step.

After a few hours wasted over the last two days, I read several pages down and found several customers with the same issue. I tried the 30 second reset. It worked (don't know why holding the reset button for 10 seconds did not work). I also did a few other tricks to boost the range. It sure would have been nice to have a pamphlet with common problem answers included in the box. Or provide a phone number for a help desk.

  • Ringtone Creation Password Loop

I am trying to create ringtones from music purchased on iTunes but I get stuck in a password loop that just asks for the password over and over. I have updated versions of everything, and have triple checked that I am using the same account that I used to purchase the music (I only have one iTunes account).
Has anyone else had this problem? What else have I not tried/checked??
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

    Hey there,
Sometimes this happens if the terms and conditions of the iTunes store agreement have changed and you haven't yet agreed to the new terms. In iTunes (at the top of the application window) click Store and go down to Sign Out. Then quit the iTunes application, wait a second or two, and open it back up. Click Store and go down to Sign In. Enter your Apple ID and password as prompted. If there are new terms you'll be prompted to agree to them at that point. Regardless of whether you're provided this option, now that you've refreshed your account's connection to iTunes, see if you can make your Ringtone.
    Hope this is helpful

  • ITunes stuck in infinite podcast password loop!

I have run into a very troublesome bug with podcasts that has unfortunately made iTunes completely unusable.
    Here's what happens:
    1. A few days ago, I subscribed to a podcast that requires a paid subscription ("http://novamnetwork.com/podcasts/malloy/malloy-lo.xml").
    2. I tried to get the latest episode from that podcast.
    3. It presented me with a password dialog, saying "To access this site, you need to log in to area "Nova-M Radio Premium Access" on novamnetwork.com".
    4. I pressed "cancel".
    5. The password dialog came up again.
    6. Repeat steps 4 - 5 ad infinitum.
The trouble is, now every time I launch iTunes, it immediately resumes this behavior. There's no way to use iTunes because the UI locks into this password loop as soon as it launches, and every time the dialog is up, the rest of the UI is disabled. To make things worse, reinstalling iTunes doesn't change anything.
I'm sure that if I deleted my database it would stop, but I'd rather not do that...
Help! I want -- no, strike that -- I need -- my iTunes back!
Thanks to anyone who can help ...

    Hello there, markwco10.
The following Knowledge Base article offers some great, in-depth instruction on troubleshooting the issue you're having with your iOS device:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected,  restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),  reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • New iPhone 5, Infinite password loop on Apps.

I just recently got my iPhone 5 and I was trying to download some free apps onto it. Here is my problem. I did not have an Apple ID so I created a new one. What happened originally was if I went to the app store and tried to download an app, it would say since my ID has not purchased anything from iTunes I would have to "review" the TOS and agree to them. This page kept giving me an error saying I had to enable cookies, despite the fact I DID have cookies enabled. I got past this part by going to settings then iTunes & App store and putting in my apple ID and PW there which gave me the same message, this time the page did load and I got the whole TOS to agree to and it also asked me for my CC # saying charges would not be filed unless I make a purchase. When I went back to the apps page, it said extra security is needed or something (saying I could put 3 security questions) with the button "Not Now" or "Confirm." Clicking "Not Now" does nothing. Nothing happens on my phone when I press this. Pressing "Confirm" prompts me for my password. I put in my password and... the same box pops up again. I tried this multiple times and it just loops infinitely. Pressing Cancel will basically just quit it. I am NOT putting in the wrong password because I tried putting in random stuff for the PW and if the PW is wrong, it will give me a message that says I put it in wrong. I tried rebooting my phone but I still get the same problem.

I found out the problem but have not had the time to call support yet. It's on apple's side, where the problem lies. The thing is, if you create an Apple ID from the apple website, it only asks you to set ONE security question. If you use the "Create apple ID" on the iphone 5(in my case). It lets you put in THREE security questions. Because I had set up my apple ID through the apple website it did not have "3" security questions so it asks me to do this on my iphone. The problem is the page never loads because IT DOESN'T EXIST which is how you get into the infinite loop with the password.

  • OIM single use password loop

We are provisioning users in Sun JDS LDAP using OIM 11g. We have an issue when a user changes their password in OIM. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions of how to fix it as I can't believe that we're the only ones to come across it?
If the user changes their password in OIM the code that our consultant has written will push that password change down to LDAP. There is a password policy in LDAP that states that if the password was changed by an administrator, not the user themselves, then the password is single use and needs to be changed. This causes our (home grown) login code to redirect the user back to OIM to change their password and so end up in a loop they cannot get out of.
We talked to the LDAP admin team about changing the policy but they don't want to do that as it's a security risk (admin remembers the password he assigned to the user ...).
    Is this normal? Any workarounds?
Would this work differently when we move to OAM?

I would have done it in this way: Assuming you have decent knowledge of using existing components of OOTB connector for re-usability. Also I have never tried this, its just an approach which could possibly work.
    - The only way for an end user to change its own password in OIM is via self-service which means the tcUtilityFactory would be instantiated by the user itself. If that is the case then you can obtain the User ID in the pre-insert entity adapters/plugin. Now when the password reset operation is being done, you can check the User ID of the Logged In user and the Target User and take a decision whether it was the user itself or some other admin.
    - If it was some other admin then you can set the Force Password Change at next Logon check-box in the User Profile to true.
    - Now modify the Change User Password task to use the IT Resource connection credentials if that check box is selected to create a connection OR use the credentials form the Process Form if that check box is not selected.
This way the connection to the LDAP would be done via the user itself if it was a self-service password reset and your LDAP Policy would have no complaints.
Assumption The user has the permissions to establish a JNDI connection with SDS and modify its own account which I am sure would be there.
    Thanks

  • WRT54GS v7 Password Problems

Hello, I have the WRT54GS V7 Router and i had tech support help me set this up.

    WEP : 64bit
This is a new router only had a few days, however the old linksys router i had did the same thing, It would not let into the setting. neither password worked.
Is this a glitch in the firmware or what. I have reset the router a number of times reset password only to have it not work within a few minutes.

  • Leopard installation password loop

I have attempted to install Leopard on my MacBookPro, but after installation get in the password/username loop referred to elsewhere (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710). Advice elsewhere on this site says to archive and install, but I don't see that option anywhere throughout installation process. When I follow the directions in the website page cited above, there's never a place to select "options", just "customize," which doesn't include an archive and install choice. Please advise!

How much free space is left on your drive? Is it getting low?
Installing software from an original distribution disc to an empty hard drive, which is called a "clean install," is a best practice recommended by security organizations, such as NIST and US-CERT.
Backup your home folder and applications, I tend to prefer reinstalling applications, and then on the first restart, be ready with your backup (leave off during install) and let MA import your home account safely.

  • Icloud password loop

After installing three software updates simultaneously (Safari 7.1.3, RemoteDesktop Client 3.8.2, v. 1.1, and Security Update 2015-001) my MacBook Pro always requests the iCloud password on startup. Clicking "Cancel" allows me to work normally, but actually entering the password sends me into a a "password request loop", which I can always end by hitting "Cancel", so I am still always able to work. It's annoying, but not disastrous. I see a few people here =have the same problem, but it doesn't seem to be common. Anyone know what's up with that? My instinct tells me to reinstall 10.9.5 using the combo updater, but that would leave me with the same software updates to install as the combo updater has not been refreshed since September 2014.
Things I have tried with no success:
    1) Resetting the Keychain to a new blank login keychain.
    2) Disabling third-party login items
    3) Switching off syncing of "Back To My Mac" and "Find My Mac" in iCloud preferences

I have had a similar problem with iCloud, iMessage & Face Time since installing 2 step verification. It started with my Apple id being refused for logging into Face Time, but then I was asked to log in to iCloud and my password was refused for that. I then had to change my Apple id and next  time I was asked to log in to iCloud my Apple id was accepted a s a genuine Apple id but was not a valid iCloud account! I was subsequently forced several times into setting app-specific password for Face Time, iCloud and iMessage. However, I was being asked for my Apple id to log in to those apps (which was refused) , not the app-specific password!. After going round in circles repeatedly re-setting passwords I eventually switched off 2 step verification and it all stopped. I would like to have 2-step verification for my security, but I am not prepared to have all that hassle again.

  • Bad ID/Password Loop

I've been in a bad password/ID loop. My family has used itunes, iphone same ID/Password for years and not many problems. After a couple IOS updates problems.  When my ID and password is finally accepted (after many tries) my iphone asks me security questions I have no answer for. And I never filled out. How change these questions? No family member will own up to answering these questions at some point. I don't change password again and agiain since then everyone on phones will have to change their phones once again.

Thanks. I found that my older son had made his own itunes/iphone account, but somehow it's attached to mine (were all on the family plan w/ATT) The PW/ID/security questions were all being sent to his UCSB email (which he rarely checks). Nothing like wiling away the hours trying figure out why I never got any email or who the heck picked these questions.

  • WRT54gs v6 password problem

    Maybe someone can help me.
I just bought my Linksys WRT54GS router. I've connected all the cables in the appropriate places ... turned my modem on an off. The lights on the router light up like they are supposed to.
I'm trying to install the software and it keeps getting hung up on the password. I've tried typing in the default password of admin. No luck. Just keeps prompting me for the password after it does a check of my computer. So I tried resetting the router by holding the reset button down for a minute, and it still won't go any further once it asks for the password.
    So I'm stuck.
    Any suggestions?

Not knowing if you are useing cable or dsl, to connect, start over without useing the cd,when everything is connected open the browser and type 192.168.1.1.enter admin when asked for password.usualy just hooking up the router to the modem right will get you on the internet.

  • IOS 8 update password loop

I regrettably updated my iPad to iOS 8 last night and now I cannot get past the password section of the setup. I've tried resetting my password several times but it still continues to loop back to the hello screen. Anyone else having this problem? We're you able to fix it? I have an appointment scheduled at the apple store but I thought I would try here first. Thanks for any and all replies.

I had a user that had their iPad & iPhone sync'd to the same computer & the issue appeared on the "iPad" only (iPhone was fine after upgrade).
After trying several new passcodes on the "iPad", they eventually tried the same passcode which was set on the "iPhone" & they were able to get past this screen.
I assume that because both devices were sync'd to the same computer, the passcodes (for whatever reason) are also sync'd between devices.
Did you have a passcode set originally on your iPad? Maybe try the same passcode & see if that works.

  • Stuck in user/password loop after installing Leopard

Hi, I might not have described the symptoms properly earlier. After a successful installation the computer asks for my password whilst starting up. I give it, the computer accepts it, but then returns to the same page after a few seconds. It just loops back to this page over and over again. Any help wold be very appreciated.

Thanks. I had found that page but I don't think I've understood it properly. I have a successful install using the archive and install keeping all the settings, which is what this page recommends as a solution but I am still stuck in the password/user loop. Suggestion?
You might try booting into the Leopard DVD and in the menu, select reset password.
    See if that helps

  • Icloud password loop when declining an ask to buy purchase using family sharing

My daughter asked to buy an app using family sharing. I received the notification on my phone and when I hit decline, it asks for my icloud password. When entered, it asks continuously and will not finalize declining the purchase. Same process on my wife's phone. We were able to approve a purchase, just not decline one.
    Help please.
I am using a 4s, my daughter and wife both have 5cs. All running iOS8 with family sharing set up.

    Thank you Ms. SJ!!!!
I was having this problem with my youngest daughters account.  Your post about establishing the payment history apart from family sharing made a lot of sense.  My oldest daughter has had an account for some time that she had been adding iTunes gift cards to, so her account was "established" before it was added to our family sharing group.  I had no trouble approving her purchases.
I had set up an account for my youngest daughter a long time ago, but used it only for email and iMessage on her iPod.  My ID was used for purchases on the device.  After Family sharing was launched and she got an iPad for Christmas, I decided to set up her ID as the primary account on her new iPad and added her to family sharing.
The first problem I ran into with Family Sharing was enabling the "Ask to Buy" function because since I set up accounts for my daughters a long time ago they were both showing as adults.  I learned from another post that the fix for this was to change their birthdates to January 1, 2001.  I did this and it has them listed as Age 14 on their family sharing profiles - fine.
I then ran into the same problem with Ask to Buy that David Wilkie described above.  My fix was a little different from yours and less intensive.
Removed my youngest daughter from family sharing
Purchased an app using her account alone (with an iTunes gift card attached) to establish a purchase history.
I then re-added her to our family sharing group.
I had her purchase a song using "Ask to Buy" and it worked as expected.
Thanks for going through the legwork with support to find this fix and share it.  I hope my experience can be helpful as well.
