WRT54G interference with cordless phone

I have a WRT54G wireless router. I have changed the channel setting several times so it would not interfere with my 5.8GHZ phone. Still messes up my phone. Any suggestions?

Try using the Channel 11 ... also go to advance wireless settings & Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings" ....
See if it still interferes with your phone ....

... is this normal behavior? I kinda don't mined since it's like an automatic mute (although I need to hit play again in iTunes after the phone call). Just wondering if there are configuration options to change this. Maybe switching channels?

    Changing channels may help.
Some cordless phones operate on the sam 2.4GHz frequency as Airport and therefore can cause interference.

  • Using Adapter with Cordless Phone

Hi everyone!  My family and I are going to live in South America next week and need help deciding whether to buy the Skype Adapter or the Dual phones.  If we use the adapter and get an online number, if someone calls our online number, can we answer the call on our cordless phones?
Also, does anyone know if the adapter has to be connected to the computer to make calls?
    Thank you!!!

Howdy, I think it's unlikely you'll be able to do what you want.  There haven't been any new phone drivers for Palm OS devices issued since the 2005 Phone Link Update, and the Palm OS is essentially dead so there won't be any new drivers written.

  • Interferance with cordless phone

My Airtunes cuts out frequently while on the cordless phone. I have tried all the different settings (channels, robust signal, etc.) in the Airport Utility. Any suggestions?
I don't use it for my internet. Only for Airtunes.

Hello Steve Hoiberg. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not many choices here. I am assuming the your cordless phone operates on the 2.4 GHz radio band. If so, here are a few things to try:
o Change radio channels on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX)
o Change radio channels on the cordless phone (if it offers this option)
o Relocate the cordless phone's base station.
o Replace your cordless phone for one that operates in either the 900 MHz or 5 GHz band.

  • Skype phone number with cordless phone

Has anyone used this? How is the quality and how much does it cost to make calls worldwide? I currently use Skype when I can (when the other party has Skype), but I have Vonage with my small business and I need to make international calls. I am trying to decide if it would be smart to switch to the Skype phone service. Any advice/help would be great. Thanks.

  • Cannot Dial Out With a Cordless Phone

A month ago I had a phone line installed at my flat. It's a New Build so I was starting from scratch. I've tried two different cordless phones in the socket and neither will dial out. I get a dial tone, but when I punch in a number a voice tells me the number isn't recognised. Yesterday I plugged in a friend's phone which is a big old corded thing that's at least fifteen years old. It worked fine. Another friend says the only real difference is that the old phone isn't digital and that I can't use a digital phone on my phone line. Has anyone heard of this before? I'm not sure what to do. I've had nothing but trouble with BT getting my address and billing wrong and I'm sick of them. I don't want to call again and lose more of my precious life force if I don't have to.

    Hi and welcome
Ensure you have unplugged all other equipment when you have tried a different phone.
Have you tried the phone (with no ADSL filter if you have Broadband) direct in the test point of your main socket?
This main socket looks like this.
remove the 2 screws each side of the socket and gently remove the bottom half, just in side the bit left on the wall you will find another socket on the right hand side, plug your phone directly into there and check if you can dial out now.
If you cant dial out correctly to here (i would try a couple of phones), there is a fault outside of your premises and you should report it to your comms provider.
If it works ok to the test socket you have a fault within your premises either on wiring or aparatus.

  • Cordless phones to work with Cisco SPA122

    Hi there,
We have a customer site which has 10x Analogue handsets and some cordless phones running off an old pbx.
We are installing a new system including 10x SPA525's handsets but we need some cordless phones to run alongside them.
Can someone recommend cordless phones which will work with Cisco SPA122's please?

    Any one?

  • Cordless phone on separate line kills AOL connection with Airport Extreme

I lose my AOL connection everytime I get a phone call. My cordless phone is a panasonic 2.4Ghz gigarange extreme connected to a separate line. How can I change settings on either Airport Extreme or the cordless phone to fix this?
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

I'm not sure if it would adequately help your problem, but you might try separating the channels of the AEBS & phone (setting the AEBS on ch. 11 and the phone on ch. 1).

  • Re: Noisy and pulsing interference on cordless pho...

My biggest mistake was to enter into a BT broadband contract (free for the first 6 month's) to which I terminated early my previous contract with penalty. Seven month's on and with no resolve to the continued line interference/broadband dropping, I shall soon be leaving BT behind, vowing never to return.
Endless conversations with India (polite most of the time but useless), conversations here in the UK which were little better and letters un-replied to, left me with no option but to relay all this to Ofcom. This problem which until joining BT never existed before. Broadband and Line Engineer visits (40 minute visit including travel), filters checked/replaced endless times, replacement router, master socket replaced, caller display lost during all this time, (although mysteriously returned a week ago after my last and final call), and line back to the exchange checked more time's than I can remember, have left me with no explanation and no patience. To cap it all, I have recently received a £99.00 engineer home visit bill !

Is this the first time you have been using broadband on your line, or where you with another ISP that used your telephone line for broadband?
What you describe has been reported before on this forum and was resolved.
Would it be possible for you to connect things up as shown on the link below, and see if the noise is still present on your phone. Thanks.
    Testing from "test" socket
Also, do you still get the pulsing noise if you plug in a normal phone, as it could be the wirelss in the home hub, interfering with the cordless phone?

  • Yet another cordless phone thread?

Hey, all-- I recently switched out an old cordless phone for a new one, and instantly began experiencing interference (I know it's the cordless phone because the airport goes from solid green to blinking amber every time I make or receive a call). I've searched the forums and I don't know what to do about it. I've tried three different new phones (two were 5.8 ghz, the third was this 6.0 stuff they're selling these days), and they've all caused the same interference problem. I've tried setting the airport's channel to everything from 1 to 11. Is there anything else I can try, or is it time for me to switch back to a lynksis router?
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I look forward to reading your suggestions!

Sure did. The wireless internet had been working fine for almost two years. It wasn't until my old phone died and I tried to replace it with the newer models that the problems began.

  • Interference with my Express and Extreme?

I have an Airport Extreme purchased several years ago to connect two iMacs. We have updated each computer, one is a newer iMac and the other is a MacBookPro (06). We have had trouble getting a signal to reach both computers since we first bought the Extreme. I added an Express and it seemed to solve the problem.
The Extreme is located next to the desktop computer. My laptop (which is never further than 40 feet), randomly gets dropped offline. I have to go through choosing airport, my network, etc, each time I'm dropped and each time I boot up. I never had to do this before. The only change I made recently was password protecting my network. I have done software updates since the problem started and also have run firmware and software diagnostic tests which were fine.
I've been to the Genius Bar three times, I've spoken with Apple Tech support for over 3 hours total on this issue. The Extreme tested fine in the Apple Store, I purchased a new Express and the problem is worse. When I get connected it will sometimes work 20 minutes, an hour, or 5 minutes. When this happens I have to sit right next to the Extreme to pick up a signal.
We have single wall construction, no cordless phones and I can't think of any other interference. Sorry this is so long but I'm desperate! Thank you

Hmmm. That can make a difference, but I would think that should be exhibited as a performance hit as opposed to a reliability problem. Early AirPort Extremes took a hit with WEP (according to http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30664/228/). After looking at iStumbler, there's an old (2004) but good article at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/24311/98/ covering a/b/g nets; for instance, make sure your SSID is unique. Also, if running 802.11n, take a look at this article at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30664/228/ (esp. Fixes #4 and #5).
I found running 802.11n to be futile around here (well, it is Silicon Valley). [iStumbler] will give you a clue about things in your area, but I found that the local WiFi environment changed day-to-day as new nets came online, or folks changed the bands they're using and/or switched to using wide channels (channel bonding). I could never stabilize things for more than a day or two here, so ended up buying a new Extreme and running Radio Mode = 5 GHz only - the only one in the area (at the time). That helped lots.

  • Telephone interference with Airport network

I have read in several places both here and elsewhere that there is potential for interference by a 2.4 GHz cordless phone with my Airport network. Is it fair to assume that a 5.8 GHz cordless phone system would be okay? I am currently having no problems with Airport networking, and would like to keep it that way as I upgrade my old phone system.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

That potential exists for any 802.11b or g wireless network as both use the same frequency spectrum. If you find a phone that uses a different spectrum, you should not have any problems. For example I have an old 900Mhz phone that does not interfere.
    Good luck.

  • Any problems with new phones?

Some people got their new phones today. But I haven't seen any posts from any of them with complaints. Has anyone heard anything? Mine is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

Unpair the headset from the phone with the problem. Restart the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears), the pair the headset again. Also, look for things nearby that may be causing interference in the Bluetooth band. Cordless phones are a common cause of interference.

online help and phone help has been less than helpful,  anyone have any Ideas?

Ok I found " Installing the liksys wireless router with a westell 6100 modem" in the verizon troubleshooting guides. printed the instructions so I would'nt forget. step 1 open your web browser and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address field.  PROBLEM it comes up with a login screen that I don't know how to sign into. tried the obvious stuff. cannot get past the login screen. I knew this sounded to easy to be true. anyone have any ideas?
