WRT54G keeps disconnecting (See 6th message)

Suddenly, mid morning, I can't connect to my WRT54G. Early it was working fine. Now, when I search for networks, it shows up sometimes and then doesn't show a few seconds later. Regardless, none of the computers here will connect after "waiting for association". Securities all are set up correctly, but obviously there is something going on.
Can anyone help?

OK, a little update and more info on what's happening now:
Now, after some tech support help from Linksys, I was advised to rename the SSID and change the broadcast channel. That seemed to work for about 24 hrs. Now the problem is that I connect and can get to one website, but just as soon as I try to go to a 2nd website, the connection drops off to zero.
Additional possibly related issues:
1. On Sunday, I began to get what appears to be some type of spyware pop-up telling me that my computer is infected and I need to download this new update/program. It is from some "scanner-antivirus.com" or something similar site. I am sure it is spyware so I immediately closed the window. What is weird is that the laptop I am using is from work and has administrator privs blocked so I cannot go into the registry to try to remove this. I still can't figure out how it can get into the registry, but no one can access the registry to get it out, but that is a different story. Could this spyware be causing or have caused the problem with the router? The laptop is not directly wired to the router.
2. Scanning for available networks in my area shows there is one secured network (apparently a neighbor) that always shows up at 90%-100% within my house, while my network typically ranges from 70% to 90% unless I am in the same room as the router. I have read that this could cause interference, but how do I block such a "dominant" signal?
Any help will be appreciated.

hi, i have a pc connected OS: win xp sp 2. connected wired to the router wrt54g v7 the other computer is a laptop connected wirelessly to the router the router keep disconnecting the pc and the laptop at random time. Can anyone help me with this problem. thanks regards, bongel

Access routers setup page using http://192.168.1.1 ... you will see username & password ......
Leave username blank & in password use admin ......
Click on "Status" tab ...... it will show firmware version of the router ....
Check the latest firmware from http://www.linksys.com/download .....
After reset .... reconfigure the router ....

WRT54GS keeps disconnecting

I have either a version 1.0 or 1.1 of the WRT54GS and I had been using unencrypted as I lived in a pretty rural area, since moving to a more busy area there are other WIFI connections so therefore I decided to enable WPA2 on my network. Upon doing so the network works fine unless you either download, stream or anything high bandwidth. The network disconnects altogether from the computer / laptop that was carrying out the task. Disabled WPA2 and the network worked fine again with no disconnects or anything whilst doing same tasks. Any ideas? I have the latest firmware and the firewall option is enabled if any of you are wondering.

You can Enable the Wireless Secyruty on your router again... Login to your Router setup page and Change the Wireless Settings .... Click on Advanced Wireless
settings>>Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation...
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect.... After this You can try.

Trying to import photos in Aperture but card/card reader keeps disconnecting ..error message then appears ?? any ideas

I have been trying to import my photos but "disk not ejected properly" keeps appearing. I am not moving it or doing anything etc. Could it be a software issue? or could my card reader be at fault? However it does work fine on my other computer

Is it a built-in card reader or connected to an USB port?
Have you tried a different USB port?
Have you tried to read from a different card with new photos?
Download and save all photos on your other mac, where you can read the card, and reformat it in the camera.

Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router keeps disconnected

Hi, My wireless router WRT54GS keeps on disconnecting without any reason. I have also changed the channel to 11 but still the same issue. It connects for 1 minute and then it stops working even though the signal says "excellent strength" and all the bars are green.

Hmm. I seem to be having a similar problem (see my thread). Check the cable that is pulugged into the back of the computer. That is where my problem lies. The computer doesn't seem to be reading it. If i get some info, ill help you.
EDIT:You have to check the IP address of the computer connected to router. If you are getting an IP of 169.254.x.x, then the router might be defective.

Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a prompt that your printer is offline. This may be due to a printing job that is currently in the queue. Are you able to see the print summary when following these steps?:
Viewing the Print Summary
You can view the Print Summary by double-tapping the Home button and swiping to the right to reveal Printer Center. Then tap Print Center.
Note: Print Center is available only while printing is in progress.

I am a newbie at this and don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I can even use an external drive for my photos and catalogs (I did enable smart previews so I do know how to do that part). Help!

You can use an external drive with LR but I recommend only using it for
image file storage while keeping your catalog on your internal HD for
performance. If you moved files outside of LR (Finder or Explorer) you will
have to clue LR in on where they are now. Use the left-hand folder panel in
Library mode to navigate to the location on your external drive and use the
find photo option get LR to reconnect them. If you moved the catalog and
now LR can't find it you should get a window allowing you to select a new
one where you can navigate to the new location and select it. You can also
just start LR by clicking on the Lightroom 5 catalog.lrcat file to open it
and start LR.

I too added 2nd apple ID when I tried to get Free app from apple store just to get to NONE on the credit card needed. It said it sent confirmation email to my new apple ID email that I have to confirm. Problem is I can not get to the new apple ID email account. On my ipad it logs into my original email account and I see no where to log into another email account. If I go to my laptop, the new apple ID I created does not let me log into email where apple said it was sent to. It did not send to back up email account either.
Can I log into 2 email accounts on my ipad where it says mail at bottom?

Unfortunately, there's no message in the notification center, and there's no (apparent) message in Console. I literally have no idea why I keep seeing the message, and it's quite annoying.
Currently using a MBPr via. 802.11ac TimeCapsule. The Apple TV3 I have connects wirelessly to a last-gen Airport Extreme (and that's connected to the Time Capsule via. extended wireless). Signal strength is excellent for all devices.
Any ideas?

Open AirPort Utility (in your Applications > Utilities folder). Click on each device shown there (e.g., Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme). Make sure they are running the latest firmware. They will warn you if they are not once you click on them.

External hard drive keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting

External hard drive on Time Machine, running via USB keeps disconnecting. Get the pop us that the drive wasn't disconnected properly. This Mac is brand new as is the hard drive. It is a Seagate 1T Free Agent.
After a minute or two it reconnects. I've run Seagate diagnostics and it says the drive is fine.
Any suggestions?

See #A1 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum), for a handy widget that will display the backup messages from your logs.
See what that shows; there may be a problem with the backup, which results in TM ejecting the drive. If so, the disconnect may be a symptom, not a cause. If so, see #C2 there. If not, or if you're not sure, copy and post them here.
Also, to rule out other USB problems, disconnect everything but keyboard and mouse; connect the drive directly to your Mac (no hub).
Make sure all connections are snug and secure.
Try other ports, cables, and combinations of the two (a plug that works fine in one port may not make good contact in another one, and throw intermittent errors).
