WRT54G - Nat 3 on PS3

I've been working on this on and off for months, but I finally sat down and gave it a good 2 hours tonight with no results - Here is what I have done - this is with both UPNP on and off on both the router and the ps3. . . .
I first forwarded the perscribed ports to the PS3's ip address which I sat static at xxx.x.x.250  - no dice.
I then put the PS3 in the DMZ - no dice.
I rebooted the router AND PS3 each time.  The router is on the newest firmware.  I have tried every physical combination of the above as well including enabling all of it.
Nothing I try makes this work.  I even disabled all of my wireless security to get it to work - again, no dice.
Is this router just too old to handle it?

Who is your Internet service provider?
If it is DSL Internet service then make sure that your modem is set to the bridge mode.
Open the setup page of the router and change the MTU size to 1365. Save the settings.
Go to the status tab and check the Internet IP address on the status page.

  • WRT54GS Router and NAT 3 PS3 Problems

Ok. I need a lot of help. And yes. I used the search option prior to posting this topic and none of it answered my questions. I did try a few tips I saw firsthand at these topics but it still didn't solve my Nat 3 Problem. Heres my ps3s setup basically. Set the MTU to 1365, in the firewall settings unchecked Block Anonymous Internet Requests, In the Applications and Gaming tab I put my PS3s IP address in the DMZ. Tested my connection on my PS3 and the same NAT 3. I want to **bleep** a brick now because I have been frustrated by this. Googling didn't help. So I am hoping you guys can help me figure this out. FYI: I am changing this setting through the LAN connected from my PC to the router and I have my PS3 wired to the router also. With this NAT 3 problem my downloads are slow as hell and although I haven't tested online gaming yet this will be a huge factor in the lag.

Try forwarding ports TCP: 80, 443, 5223 UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658 on the rotuer setup page ... See if it works ...

  • Wrt54g router and ps3

okay i have a wrt54g version 6 router, with 1.02.2 firmware, and no matter what i do, i cant get the NAT type on the ps3 to get to 2, its always 3, so i cant play some games online, ive tried forwarding the ports with dmz off and UPnP off, and ive tried putting the ps3 in the dmz and turning UPnP on, both with no luck, any help would be appreciated

hi... try reducing MTU to 1452, check the status and note down the DNS addresses and try setting up static DNS on playstation...also tell me which ports you've forwarded?? let me know which internet connection are you using, is it DSL?

  • WRT54GS NAT Settings Concerning Xbox 360 Setup

My xbox 360 is connected to a Dell Inspiron B130 notebook via an Ethernet cable. The notebook is then connected wirelessly to a Linksys WRT54GS router. The router, finally, is connected to a Sprint DSL modem. My problem is that with this setup, whenever I try to play online on my 360, it tells me that my "NAT settings" are set to "Strict", and that they should be set to "Open". Could someone please tell me how to fix this problem, providing step-by-step instructions? Thanks!

Do have the proper ports forwarded in your router?? Be my only guess......or check ebay for an xbox360 wireless adaptor.

Hi - I think you are wanting to connect your PS3 with an internet cable and go wired , rather than wireless.  Going online means being connected to the internet which you have done already only your PS3 and you router have done this wirelessly.
You need to connect your router to your PS3 with a Cat 5 cable - standard ethernet cable, then look at your network settings on your PS3 - set these to a wired connection and choose the auto and default settings through the next pages and see how that works.  It was really straighforward when I set mine up.
    Hope this helps

  • WRT54G to DirTV/PS3

I currently have my PS3 connected wirelessly to my WRT54G but get a weak signal at times. I have recently gotten DirecTV (HR21) and want to add it to my network. It is sitting in the living room next to my PS3.
What I want to do it add a wireless device in my living room that will connect to my WRT54G in my office and will connect via cat5 to both the DirecTV box and the PS3. I can think of several solutions which would require me purchasing two devices (a. 2 wireless adapters, b. 1 wireless adapter and a wired switch/hub)
Can anyone suggest a better alternative, preferably only using one device?
    Thanks !
P.S. I currently plan on adding longer cables to my WRT54G so it will reach a higher spot in the office, with better l.o.s. with the living room. Hope to increase wireless signal to living room.

  • I want nat type 1 or open on ps3 and xbox360

i have fios on a hp vista home preimem my router is brand westtell issued by verison i have made a staic ip address this didnt help i have open on 360 but not ps3 it does not make sense also i want to netowork all three bu my pc does not see them to share files have turned off firewalls and tryed with them on any help plz

The easiest way to get open NAT on both consoles is to enable UPnP on your router.
On a PS3, it is impossible to get NAT Type 1 while connected through a router. You can only get NAT Type 1 if you are connected directly to the internet (ie. if your PS3 is connected directly to the Verizon box on the side of your house.)
If you are connected to a router, NAT Type 2 is the best you can get, and you will have no problem playing online with that status. You should only be worried if you are getting NAT Type 3. There is no such thing as "Open NAT" on PS3.
To properly enable network sharing, make sure you are listed as being in a Home network (as opposed to a Public or Work network) on your PC. If you have anything other than the standard Windows Firewall installed, you are going to have to manually create exceptions for Windows Media Sharing in your firewall-you can't just disable the firewall entirely.
Both consoles should automatically see your PC, but you may also have to manually grant them permission from your PC to access the shared media.

  • NAT type, wrt45g

Can anyone help me change the nat type on my ps3? im not quite sure what settings to change with the router, and im pretty sure thats the problem since my old belkin router was type 2.

I found this link on the forum which will guide to open the NAT for PS3.
You also want to upgrade the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router and go to Administration tab. Click on firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.

  • Router blocks some things it shouldn't

Okay, so I had to go through and switch out an old router for a Linksys wireless router (WRT54GS) so the PS3 could access the internet wirelessly. Right now two computers are physically connected to the router, mine and my father's. My computer is running Vista and has no restrictions on internet and internet-based applications (e.g. MSN Messenger). My dad's, on the other hand, is running Windows 98. He can get onto the internet but for some reason he can't get onto Yahoo Messenger. It was working fine before I switched the routers and I haven't messed with any of the wireless router's settings. They are actually both Linksys routers but the first one is quite old. What do you think could be the problem?
Message Edited by Night on 12-05-2007 12:36 AM

If the Yahoo Messenger is a recent version, there is a setting in the "Preferences" menu that you may need to change. Click on the "Firewall with No Proxies" options if it's available on your version. If not, you may have to do a reinstall of Yahoo Messenger. Remove it first, reboot then download a fresh copy.
Are there other applications that are not working?

  • Old router usable as a repeater?

    Hi folks,
Just brought home a WRT310N and it works great, but I'm still having trouble with weak signal in certain parts of the house. I still have a working wrt54G which is currently sitting unused.  Is there a way I can add it to the mix to build a better home network?
    Take care,
    Chris

thanks Fr0ns for the reply... I suspected it wouldn't work together with the WRT54G that way
Any ideas about what I might try? The router in use is WRT310N (and modem) are in one corner of the house, where most of the computers and gadgets live.  but there's a TV and PS3 at the other end of the house.  signal strength, according to the PS3, is about 25%.  there is a spare router, a WRT54G.
By bridge, do you mean I can wire the WRT54G to the PS3, and position it at a midpoint, closer to the other router? So the two routers communicate wirelessly but have devices wired into them?  How do I have to configure things?
