Wrt54g port forword prob

Firmware Version: v1.02.2 i am currently trying to play a game but i cant due to port word problems. it uses 6112-6119. i went in game section and told it to allow 6112-6119 and assigned it to my ip and checked enabled and it still doesn't work. i never had this problem on my old router. i have no fire wall nor do i got a virus protector. my windows fire wall is turned off and has been turned off since my last router *witch i never had this problem with* so pls if some 1 could help me that would be cool because i don't want to switch products because no 1 can help me solve this problem. • WRT54G ports show no connection when connected to laptop

I was trying to setup my father-in-law's dell inspiron 510m on XP to the wrt54g.  he used to an ethernet cable plugged directly into the modem.  When i plug in the computer to one of the ethernet ports (1-4) notne of them lights up and the computer displays network cable is unplugged.  ive tried plugging the router from port 1 to port 2 and they both light up and the computer can connect to the internet directly plugged into the modem but for some reason cannot communiacate with the router.  everything else works just fine but i cannot get these two to talk.  he has a v3 router if that makes any difference.  i sat on the phone with customer service and they said that my router just went bad and to send in for a new one, but i think there is something else that can be fixed.  any ideas?

This maybe caused by incompatibility issue on your network card on the pc and the router. Both just cant synchronized with each other.
I suggest you do this first:
go to www.linksys.com/kb and look for answer id 945, this will force the card of the computer to run it on 10mbps initially while you configure this router.

  • WRT54GS port lights always on, internet light always on, only power connected.

My WRT54GS v.2 wireless router has all port lights and internet light always on, even though the power is the only cable connected to it. The router won't detect the internet from my dsl modem. How can i fix this please, why is this happening ?
    thank you.

Did you try to reset the router by pushing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds or more?

  • Wrt54gs port blocking

my wrt54gs is blocking ports and idk how to stop it.
    I can't connect to ftp
I can't connect to sites using abnormal ports such as 8008.
(surprised how many sites use different ports)
    wireless or wired.
If i reboot the router it lets me get to them for the first like 15 seconds then its blocked again....
I even placed my computer in the DMZ
    I even factory reset
    I even upgraded the firmware

Another thing to check would be the firewall software running on your computer.   I have had problems where when you let the  subscription to updates expire, the firewall software reverts to a very locked down state.
Out of the box, a WRT blocks almost nothing.  If you had configured it to do some port blocking, you would know about it.
And just to eliminate the stupid stuff -- be sure the cable/DSL modem is plugged into the "Internet" port and not one of the numbered LAN ports.

  • WRT54GS port forwaarding problem

i am recently setting up a Teamspeak server for gaming with friends and i have an issue with portForwarding. my setup (isp)-dsl->(modem)->(router)->computer my router is a WRT54GS v.5 with the latest firmware (v1.52.5) i set up the port forwarding like normal and it doesnt seem to work. i already have an apache server running fine for html on port 80, but any other port seems not to open. ive tried taking the router out of the setup above and it runs perfectly.

Turn off UPnP and check again. If it still doesn't work, turn off the forwarding for that and try setting up triggering instead. If it still doesn't go through, setting that computer in dmz. If that still doesn't work, then something's wrong with the firmware.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • PLEASE HELP i have trouble with WRT54G port forwarding with linksys

Hello guys, i play a game called populous, and since im on a router i cannot host the game, when i used to have a d-link all i would do is have to set up the port to my ip with the udp. but ever since i have swiched to linksys that doesnt work, the ip on my portforwaring is the same as the one on my computer the port is correct and the udp is set, i also have no fire walls on and it still doesnt make a differance, Someone in the game suggested that there is a local ip i need to get? is that true or is there another setting i need to set up in my router page?
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN <3<3 thanks

Yes that happens if you write replies to your own posts. Many regulars here only answer their "own" topics (i.e. to which they have answered before) and new ones which don't have replies, yet. If you write a reply to your own topic chances are your are not read unless during some random browsing...
Regarding your problem it is impossible to say anything unless you give the exact settings you have on your router. Please post the full settings you have for port forwardings, port triggering and DMZ. If you have UPnP forwarding in your router (I don't think you have) post those settings, too.
Otherwise I suggest this checklist for troubleshooting port forwardings.

  • Cisco RV042 port forwording case?

    Hello,
Here is my situation. I have two real IP addresses on each of my WAN ports. I need to configure:
port forwarding (80,443,3389) from Real_IP1 (configured on WAN1) to 192.168.116.10 (same ports)
port forwarding (80,443,3389) from Real_IP2 (configured on WAN2) to 192.168.117.10 (same ports)
Router is confugured in System Management > Dual WAN as Load balancing.
    192.168.116.0 is in vlan1 (port1)
    192.168.117.0 is in vlan2 (port2)
Is it possible to make it working using Cisco RV042?
    Thanks in advance!

    Plamen,
Try to create an Access Rule like shown in the following example. On the second rule, select WAN 2 and use the other internal IP. I have never tested this but it looks like it might be a solution. (This is an older RV042)
Please let us know if this works or not.

  • Is my MB dying - SATA ports/Ethernet probs

    Hi Guys,
Since I had this MB in December, I have "lost" 4 hard drives, now one DVD-ROM and one of the Ethernet ports played up the other day.
Right, now for the detail.  BIOS version 1.2, MSI Eclipse SLi.
Up until now, I thought it was crappy Samsung disks as these were the ones failing (Never used them before, and they are cheaper than most other drives, although that's not why I bought them!), but tests in other PCs showed them to be OK.  Now it is a 2 week old Seagate drive that has apparently "failed".  However, the coincidence this time is that when I booted the PC and it classed the drive as "failed", one of the ethernet controllers also kept showing as "failed", it constantly kept showing up and disappearing from the device list, and also one of my DVD drives has stopped appearing in the device list (although it opens and closes).  3 different devices all failing at once?  Seems too much of a coincidence to me.
Has anyone else had problems with RAID drives failing?  If I put a new disk into the machine, then the Intel RAID controller sees it, allows me to add it and happily does a rebuild when Windows starts.  Until it "fails" again!!!!!
Also, I have Corsair 1600 memory which runs at 1333.  If I go into the BIOS and set it to use the XMP progile, Windows crashes during boot.  Don't know if this is related?
If I update the BIOS or any other board-level F/W, will I have to rebuild my RAID sets (and therefore risk losing my data and another week to rebuild all of the OS & software?)

Different ports.  The hard disks on Intel RAID ports 3,4 & 5, the DVD (which has just started working again) on the SI controller.
And yes, the "failed" disks do work in another chassis....

  • WRT54G Port forwarding not working

Ok this is an odd problem. Ever since I got this router I have had issues with the port forwarding.
I am forwarding 3389 TCP to 192.168.1.101 check box is enabled. The .101 address is given out by DHCP ( only set to give out 4 IPs). The forwarding did not work at all. I have configured dozens and doezens of routers with no issues except this one . It is Version 8. After a lot of reading on the net someone posted a similar issue where they could not forward ports to static IP addresses ONLY IP's given out in the DHCP range. Strange? yes you bet. So I decided to try it and sure enough I changed my 2 internal computer IP's to use DHCP and forwarded the ports to the IP of the computer I wanted ( 192.168.1.101) and it worked! How silly is that, it wouldn;t forward to static IP's. Well now the problem is back. Except this time if I forward to static IP's OR IP's given out in DHCP nothing works. As a test I moved the .101 computer into the DMZ and still nothing. This is beyond annoying. problem is this is sitting at a clients house in another city and I only have access to it via the web admin. I tried backing up the configuration and then restoring it. The restore worked but didn't fix my issue. I still can't get the forwarding to work. Resetting the defaults is not really an option cause I am not in the same city as the router.
I have about 7 other SMC routers that have been working happily for 5 years straights. Why is this thing so mental? I did upgrade to the latest firmware before installing the router. Ayone have any suggestions as to why the forward doesn't work?.
By the way I enabled the logs and watch them as I was trying to remote into the computer ( 3389) and sure enough it's hitting the router ok as it shows up in the logs. The web server is not working either, nothing is getting forwarded.
No there are no firewalls at all installed on the computer I am trying forward to. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Access router setup page ...uncheck block WAN request under security tab .... also check the updated firmware on the router ....

  • WRT54G Port Forwarding

Hi. I recently called linksys and set my router up to have an open NAT on my xbox 360. They had me manually enter my network settings on my xbox. I accidently erased the settings and i cant figure out what they were or how to set them up again. I have noticed a considerable loss of speed when playing online. I called linksys again but my warranty ran out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here are the settings which you can set on your XBOX as well as on your Router and this will open the NAT on your XBOX.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 Leave the username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 53, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    2) On the second line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 88 and End box type in 88, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    3) On the third line in Application box type in XYZ, in the start box type in 3074 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings...
    4) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    5) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...
    6) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    7) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    8) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    9) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • WRT54G port fowarding problem

Hi, I've had my router for a few years and have opened ports alot of times. I know how to do this and everytime I've done it in the past it's worked fine. Right now I'm trying to open port 80-81 and whenever i click "save changes" I get this error:
This web page is not available.
The web page at null might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Below is the original error message
    Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error.
I can't figure out what's wrong and my friend who has a different linksys modle says he's having the same problem.

It is a browser issue. Please try to use a different browser.

  • Issue with regexes in http health probes on ACE 4710

    Folks,
We're currently experiencing fairly bizarre behavior when attempting to set up http probes that expect a regexp.  Namely, if we specify a regexp, the probe *always* passes, regardless of status code and regardless of whether or not the message actually matches the pattern.  Doing 'no expect regexp' fixes this behavior (by which I mean that the 'expect status' rules work again).
We haven't noticed until now because this is the first time we've tried to set up a probe that does this.  Are we missing something?  Is this a known issue with our current firmware version?
    Sincerely,
    Patrick T. Ramsey

I also went through a similar issue in which we need to probe the real server PESERVER01 and if the real server replies with the keyword "PE Server" in the HTTP content then the probe should be passed successful.
In my case the real server was listening on port 32776 for HTTP service so we configured the serverfarm as below,
    serverfarm host SF-TEST-32776
      description SF-TEST-32776
      failaction purge
      probe PE-SERVER-STRING
      rserver PESERVER01 32776
        inservice
And the TCP probe as below,
    probe tcp PE-SERVER-STRING
      port 32776
send-data GET /IOR/ping HTTP/1.1      <<== command should not be in inverted  commas
      expect regex "PE Server"
The above probe worked really well and when we checked the probe status it was marking as success. I also tried changing the regex from "PE Server" to "Vishal12345" and it was failing as expected because there was no such keyword in the HTTP content.

I was struggling with this issue from long time. Even raised couple of Cisco TAC cases with no luck. The most important thing here is to identify the exact command to be send to real server like GET /IOR/ping HTTP/1.1 that we used here.
To collect this command I did packet capture on one of the client machine and then tried to open the URL from real server which can return the string "PE Server". Then analyzed the captures in Wireshark and checked the HTTP data with follow the TCP stream option in which I seen the below data, which gives the command to be send in probe as well as the string we should expect.
