WRT54G PPoA Settings

Well guys and gals I'm trying to get this router to recognize PPoA and it doesn't give me the options in the drop down menu of the web based setup pages. Any suggestions?
I'm trying to use this router to share an internet connection and file sharing to my xbox 1.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks In Advance.

  • I changed my WRT54G security settings from WPA to WEP

I changed my WRT54G security settings from WPA to WEP and now one of my latops (Dell 5100) will not connect wirelessly. It is using a linksys wireless-B notebook adapter. I am at a loss at how to reconnect this to my wireless network.

Go to the setup page of the router on the wired computer and click on the Wireless tab, check the network name(SSID),change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462 GHz,Keep the SSID broadcast enable and click on save settings...Click on the subtab Wireless Security and change the Security mode to WEP or WPA as per your requirement. If you are using WEP then, note down the KEY1 as the network key(case sensitive)...
Now,on the laptops, delete the preferred network and then, try to connect the Wireless Network.

  • WRT54GS NAT Settings Concerning Xbox 360 Setup

My xbox 360 is connected to a Dell Inspiron B130 notebook via an Ethernet cable. The notebook is then connected wirelessly to a Linksys WRT54GS router. The router, finally, is connected to a Sprint DSL modem. My problem is that with this setup, whenever I try to play online on my 360, it tells me that my "NAT settings" are set to "Strict", and that they should be set to "Open". Could someone please tell me how to fix this problem, providing step-by-step instructions? Thanks!

Do have the proper ports forwarded in your router?? Be my only guess......or check ebay for an xbox360 wireless adaptor.

  • Wrt54g lost settings and wireless not detected

    Hello,
I recently had a problem with my wrt54g so i popped in the installation cd and went through the basic setup again.  Now my wired desktop works perfectly but none of my wireless devices are finding the router.  I also went into the config webpage and noticed all my settings had been reset.  All my port forwarding for the PS3 and XBox 360 had disappeared!!!  I couldn't believe it since it took me forever to get the initial settings to work right.
Now my laptop, ps3, xbox360 all cannot detect the the router.  However, the wired desktop pc works fine.  Is there any way to recover lost settings and how do I get the router to be detected by my wireless devices?

I think your router got resetted and that is why you lost all the settings on the router...Change the wireless settings on the router(ssid , channel , wep)...Click here to change the Wireless Settings on the router...Also check the related articles in the given link...

  • WRT54G - Lost Settings

I have had my WRT54G running my home-office network successfully, for 14 months - 2 wired desktops (1 on XP and 1 on Vista) and 1 wireless laptop on Vista.  A couple of days' ago, I went into my Linksys software to retrieve my "router password" so I could temporarily  hookup a guest's wireless laptop.  To my surprise, I was greeted with a "setup" window, and the following happened when I attempted to redo the setup (by the way, when I started to redo the setup, all 3 of my computers, including my wireless laptop, were still networked together, as well as able to be on line!): The setup made me redo my password, and then when attempting to "find" the router, named the router on the right side of the window and stating that "Network Status" was OK, but in the "tree" - it had (still has)  the yellow warning triangle, along with a "No Router" message under the grayed out router icon.  In the tree, under "Other Devices" - I get "No Devices", and "Computers" - "No Computers."
Since this new "setup," I do not have access to networking between my 3 computers, as well as my (wireless) laptop not being able to go on line.  However, my wired desktops are still on line, but not able to network between them.
HELP Please!  Do I need to delete my Linksys software and start over? - or, is there possibly something wrong with my Linksys router?  By the way, I am connected through a Cisco 678 DSL Modem.

Thanks Binky!  Both of the desktop PC's are in the correct local IP address range, and I know what the laptop should be, but of course, it won't show because it's not connecting to the network or to the internet.  Ping on my XP desktop (which is the host computer) checks out, but Ping on the other desktop (pinging itself), gets a "general failure", which I'm guessing is (even though it's on line) because it can't connect to the "home network."
We still need to go back to what I believe is the original problem, and that is the fact that the router is still not totally recognized (see my note regarding the "grayed out" tree, saying "No Router).  I believe that our desktops are on line only because the connection is passing from the Cisco 678 DSL modem THROUGH the Linksys Router, and if I hard-wired my laptop to the router, it would be on line also (but, still not networked)!  So... my question still is... do I need to disconnect everything, uninstall the Linksys software and start over... or can I reinstall over the top of the existint software... or do we think my Router actually is defective?
The 3rd option seems weird to me (defective Linksys), considering until I discovered it wanted me to redo the setup, all 3 computers were networking successfully together and on line, including my laptop on a wireless connection.

  • WAP54G and WRT54G Channel settings

I am using the WAP54G in repeater mode.  WRT54g is channel 11, what is best channel for WAP54G in repeater mode.

@kay5ive, one thing you need to consider is how you would like to set it up. As you can see at the bottom, there are different
options to set up the access point:

  • WRT54G - print settings

I want to print the settings of my router after having changed them from the factory default, but I can't see how to bring up a summary of the settings in the router's web page interface and print them.
Another question I have is how do I find out what version the router is? I am not referring to the firmware version, which I know. When I try to search for solutions on Linksys tech support web page, it asks for the router version.

Thanks. I vaguely recall that I printed a summary of the router's settings some  months ago, but now I can't remember how I did it. It wasn't a printout of the screen. I looked up the manual but couldn't find anything about printing the settings. The printout summary that I had printed the last time contained the password and encryption key, which the screenshot won't print because they appear as dots. Also, it will require several diferent screenshots to capture all the settings of the router.

  • Maintaining PPO settings conflicts with vendor creation

    Hello,
I am facing a strange issue. We are working on ECC 6.0 and we have REFX implemented. Also we have followed the note 956054 and made all the configurations mentioned in it for customer-vendor-business partner integration.
Now, when one of my colleagues tried to create a vendor using the transaction code XK01, she could fill up all the fields successfully. But, when she clicked on the SAVE button the system generated a short dump.
Upon analyzing the short dump it was found that it was coming due to a setting mentioned in the Note 956054. Under point 1.2 of the note, the procedure for setting up the PPO is mentioned. And it has been found that the short dump is coming only because of this configuration of the PPO.
Can someone please throw some light on how to resolve this?
    Regards,
    Suvarghya Dutta

    Hi,
if there are errors while update in the CVI there are two possibilities:
    1. PPO is not activated
Then a short dump is raised and it is possible to navigate in the dump to the variables that contain
further information about the dump (that is described in note 956054)
    2. PPO is activated
No dump occurs and you have to check transaction for post-processing regularly if there are entries in the log because of updates that were not successful.
In a productive environment it is not suggested to activate PPO because that may lead to data inconsistencies. PPO is only thought for better error handling.
I prefer method 1., because you know immediately that something is wrong, you get no data inconsistency and by navigating in the debugger it is easily possible to find out the reason.

  • WRT54G PPoE problems with Earthlink DSL

HELP! After 8 hours with Earthlink they are trying to tell me my Linksys is broken. The modem is talking to the router but I can't talk to the router. I want to call Linksys, but thought I would try here first.

You could possibly call up the Service Personnel at the
Help Desk, of your Internet Service Provider , and state
them to convert the Modem to Bridge Mode.
When the Modem is bridged, the ISP will authenticate
the Request from the Router, only using the Username
    and Password from your ISP.
    So, Bridge the Modem,
Get the Username and Password from them,
In the Router's Setup Page, Under PPPoE
Settings, Enter the Username [ in the format username@
    ISPname.com/.net ] and Password , Save Settings.
Below the Setup Tab of the Router's Console,
Change the MTU from "AUTO" to "MANUAL" , and
Set the Size to 1400, Save the Settings,
Powercycle the Modem and the Router.
    Check the Connections.
If problem persists, plz revert back . . .

  • WRT54G online settings problem

    hi
ive just set up the router and everything was fine but when i upgraded the firmware it kind of scrambled the online settings. i can only see bits and pieces of the info. is there a way to fix this ? thanks

It is advisable to reset the router after upgrading the router's firmware..So reset the router for 35 seconds, power cycle the router and re-configure it from scratch.

  • WRT54G Troubleshooting

Here's what I expect of my router:
-Connect to a DSL modem (the modem itself stores the password, so I should not have to enter the password at the computer OR the router)
-WEP 128bit encryption key and MAC Address Filter to allow only my computers in should the encryption key be decrypted (we can ignore this, I already set this up myself and have all my computers connected, these settings are fine)
Here's how I originally had my settings for the DSL set (in the web-based settings):
-PPOE with my Verizon user-name and passoword entered in Here's what went wrong: -This worked perfectly for an entire year, then I bought a v8.2 (I was originally using a v6). I set it up the same way as my original v6, and it worked perfectly for a month. I then proceeded to upgrade my firmware (yes, I used Ethernet to do this), and the router worked fine for a few days; in fact, the performance was improved, but only just. Then suddenly, I had no Internet connectivity.
Here's what I have tried to troubleshoot:
-I reset the router with the reset button and reset the PPOE settings, still nothing. I then proceeded to bypass the router and connected my old laptop directly to the modem itself. My Internet connection worked perfectly without the router, so I proceeded to upgrade the firmware for the modem itself. When my Internet connection continued to work perfectly, I power-cycled the modem, shut off the router, connected it to the modem, and plugged the router back in only to find my Internet not working again via the router. I tried setting my router setting from PPOE to Autmatic Configuration-DHCP, and the router successfully picked up on my modem's DHCP server (the modem itself serves as a router, but I turned off it's wireless and bought the WRT54G because the modem absolutely [excuse the language] SUCKS as a router; however, the router still refuses to load any web pages that I request.
I am now stuck without a fully functioning [proper] router because 1) It is now past the 30 day return policy at the super market, and 2) My grandma now has my old router to use for wireless with her cable Internet. I am living off of the modem's horrible routing capabilities for now, but I'd like a true router, and until now, the WRT54G has been just that. Any help fixing this would be deeply appreciated.

Before doing the following steps, you have to connect the modem to the
router's Internet Port and the computer to the Ethernet Port Number 1.
    Step 01 : - Reset the router
    1. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.
    2. Then, unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for
    another 30 Seconds.
    3. Plug back the power back in, and keep holding down the reset button
    for 30 Seconds.
    4. Release the reset button.
Step 02 : To Configure the router for Wired Connection.
Please access the setup page of the router by launching an Internet
Explorer and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as “admin "" all in lower cases and then
    click on ok.
On the main setup page select the "Internet Connection Type"
as "PPPoE”. Then provide the username and password provided by your ISP
(Internet service provider) for your connection(Example:
[email protected])- Select the "Keep Alive" option and choose the
redial period as 30 sec" and then click on the Save Settings button.

  • Xbox 360 and WRT54G v8 SBC Ameritech

I have done extensive searching on this forum and many others to no avail. I cannot get my xbox 360 to find an IP address. I have the router setup and can get internet from all of my PC's and Mac's through it. I am wondering if the problem is the modem from SBC - it is an Efficient Speedstream 5260 and if I hook the Xbox 360 directly to it with the PPoE settings typed in, it still will not find an IP. Thought that going through the router might solve that. Weirdest thing is the first couple tests I did through the Xbox dashboard passed every test, but still could not connect to Live, and now it will not go farther than the failed IP test. Problem is that where I am I cannot upgrade my modem because I cannot risk all the problems I had getting this 5260 to work. By day it is my work internet, and I can't afford to be down even for a day. So I am hoping there is a fix for the equipment I have.

    Hi,
Try assigning a static IP address on XBOX as following:
    IP:192.168.1.10
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    gateway:192.168.1.1
    Hope it works for you

  • WRT54G Applications and Gaming entries won't SAVE

Whenever I go into the "Applications and Gaming" section of my WRT54G router settings and try and input anything in it doesn't save. It says SAVE SUCCESFUL BUT IT ISN'T!
It used to save back when I first got the router but after I reinstalled windows it stopped working.
    Any help would be nice.
And for some reason I can't upgrade the firmware I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem in the first place. But I have Firmware Version: v1.00.4. I don't know it that's the latest or what.

Sounds like you might have corrupted firmware.  Reset your router back to factory default settings then try the TFTP.EXE program and upload the firmware to the router.

  • Problems with connection my WRT54G to my ADSL Router

    Hi,
I'm trying to place my WRT54G between my router and hub to use is as a firewall; however I'm stuck with what address the Gateway should be set to, an example of my IP config is as follows: -
    174.222.213.32 /28 (subnet mask - 255.255.255.240 - 16 addresses 14 usable)
    174.222.213.32       - Network Address
    174.222.213.33 to 45 - Usable
174.222.213.46       - Primary IP address on ethernet of router
    174.222.213.47       - Broadcast address
I'm using the Static IP settings on the setup screen.
If anyone could help it would be great.
    Thanks

Your gateway IP should be that of router's IP address. Try the following on your WRT54G (note: I have not done this type of setup myself)
Connect WRT54G WAN port to the (other) router and LAN ports to your hub or PCs.
    WRT54G WAN Settings:
    Internet connection type: Static IP
IP: 174.222.213.45 (if it's not already used)
    mask: /28
    gateway: 174.222.213.46
DNS: 174.222.213.46 (or your ISP's DNS IPs)
    WRT54G LAN Settings:
Choose other IP such as 192.168.whatever.whatever / 24 or smaller network
    enable DHCP if you'd like
You may have to tweak Advanced Routing as well but try the above first and leave advanced routing as default.
